Powie Zowie [Nightshade and DragonierMan]

Nightshade of course would quickly hop up and onto Drago's back, letting his parent piggyback him around wherever he wanted. With only Aya and Suzume's old battle suit on he would be relatively light. Yumi instead followed Magistrate around, wondering if she would like if she merged with her. Fighting as one with his mom could prove to be auite the experience.

Moving on from the rescued spring, the group of hunters headed towards the rising slope of the cliffs, beginning to trek far above the beach. The climb was uneven at best, but wasn't any real problem for Nightshade or Yumi, and was even less of one for those who could fly when they wanted to. Even so, the pathway soon disappeared in favour of wild and broken shelves of rock that grew swiftly steeper.

It gave the group a fantastic look out over the sea far below, separated from the base of the cliffs by a broad band of white sand that started to look increasingly thin, the higher the cliff side took them. The breeze was stiffer, this high, and it grew chill and blustery, but the bright sun remained and the weather, on the whole, never drifted too far from pleasant.

Before long, however, they began to hear the strains of notes on the wind; at this distance they were only discordant and mildly unnerving, but as the group pushed on, they were clearly moving towards the source of the unsettling music. A new sight came into view as the climb softened and they approached the crest of the bluffs. Nestled in amongst the rocky crags, the shape of a large, pink and purple iridescent shell stood out from the brown rocks. the music, if it could be called such, was coming from the shell, and as they got a little closer, a peculiar sight.

The inside of the shell held a stage, with the mouth of it protected by a sturdy-looking crystalline covering. Inside, a single Tuby, dressed up in glitter and stars, was apparently performing something that could only loosely be called music. On the rocks surrounding the shell, multiple viruses seemed to be listening, bobbing in place to the notes; multiple Raingear perched on nearby crags of rock, while off in the air out beyond the cliff edge, a pair of Megalians shifted back and forth in time. On the landward side, two Powie viruses had edged up close and were now jumping up and down as well, though thankfully they weren't going so far as to slam the ground beneath them as they did – that might be problematic for the whole cliff side.

Above and behind the shell, a second, smaller pink crystalline structure seemed to be acting as a speaker, or an amplifier of some sort, projecting the music across the entire cliff area, and was probably the reason they had been able to hear it from so far off.

Seeing more figures on their way, the diva-tuby paused in its song, but then likely realised that he newcomers weren't more music fans. It blared a series of painfully discordant notes and the other groupies turned to look at the assembled band of virus-hunters.

-=Battle 4, Start!=-
[113/120 FXP]

"Since you four will be land-bound, we'll take the fliers," Suzume said as she and Aya spread their wings and took to the sky. Aya laughed as she started to fly. "We'll strike at the King on the next pass. Let's try to rack up some kills in the meantime!" Defenses formed around them as they flew towards the Megalian-As. As they approached the viruses they spun around each other, forming long, snaking contrails. When they got close, they broke off and headed toward a different Megalian. Suzume went after A while Aya went after B.

"We will handle the Powies," Magistrate says while pointing them out to DragonierMan, Nightshade, and Yumi. She then spoke to Yumi directly: "We need to make sure to defeat them at least THREE times before the battle ends. That way we can turn in the Bounty at the end of this bust with ten deletions." Magi took a moment to stick her hand into one of her pockets and search for something. "Ah, here we are," she said, satisfied that she found what she was looking for as she brought out a battlechip data packet and handed it to Yumi. If Yumi took the battlechip and activated it, she would notice that it was a CircleGun2Damage: 120 + Seeking

.

"As you are aware," Magi began. "Powies are a flying type, that is, until they turn into giant statues and fall on you. You have four shots, which should be plenty against those viruses. Take your time to dodge these brutes and fire when you believe you have a shot. I will be fighting right beside you, so do not think that you need to take on more than one at a time," Magi told Yumi.

"Now hold on, we are going to get a better angle," Magi said before she tried to place her hand on Yumi's shoulder as she activated her teleport signature. Using her Team Subtype's Passive Tag Along ability, she tried to teleport with Yumi to the grassy mid-left side area where the Powies were. Due to the nature of a Powie's attacks, they'd never suspect their opponents to come right to them. A quick disolve later and Magi, and probably Yumi as well, were set to ambush the Powies from right up close.

"I got an idea," Drago said to Nightshade as the younger navi sat on his shoulders. "I'm going to toss you up there on that high crag so you can get that Raingear while I take out his buddy. It's going to be a teleport so you can aim it how you want," he explained as he tried to channel his teleport signature into Nightshade. If Nightshade accepted the data transfer, he would be ready to teleport wherever he wanted to, including the high crag that was left of the shell where the Raingear A virus lay. "What do you think of that plan? Ready?" Drago asked as he attempted to pick up Nighty from his shoulders, spin around a little, and chuck the younger navi at Raingear A. Hopefully Nighty activated this free teleport and made the landing on the high crag, ready to attack Raingear A.

Meanwhile, Suzume and Aya were heading straight for the Megalians. They vanished just as they were almost on top of them. Slipping into the aether. When they reappeared, they were literally on top of them, hovering in the air right above their midsections. The twins quickly raised up a huge hammer a piece and brought them crashing down upon the enemy fliers like a pair of meteors. If they hit, the heavy mallets would crush through the Megalian's auras and body, and send their corpses careening into the ground.

Coming out of their own teleport, Magi immediately raises her defenses and tries to move out of the way of the line of fire. "Pick your target, I got the other one!" she called to Yumi as she readied her own power. She took a moment to let Yumi attack first, then launched an energy shell at the other Powie. The egg-white energy blast sailed through the air, attempting to strike the flying virus out of the sky.

"Take this!" Drago shouted out as his clawed gauntlets glowed with an awesome power. Sharp blades shot out and he swiped his massive bear-clawed hand at the Raingear on the lower crag. His heavy paw probably rent part of the hillside as well. Drago then looked up at Nighty above. "Show that virus whose boss!"

No sooner had the team started to gate crash the diva's performance, than the prima-tuby blasted forth an amplified note of piercing magnitude – it seemed to echo chamber inside the protected shell, before reverberating over the hillside from the raised funnel. The shriek was disorienting and brain-addling in strength and tray as some of the party might to block out the sound, or escape from it amidst short range teleports, they all nevertheless found it working into their minds and scattering immediate thoughts.

As it was, it took Aya and Suzume a moment to gather themselves as they rushed towards the megalians, while Magistrate and Yumi didn't quite land exactly where they'd planned, moving to meet the Powie viruses – though they were near enough. Yumi in particular seemed to spend a longer moment fascinated by the chip data she'd received from her proxy-mother than she did focusing on the viruses it was meant to be directed against.

Elsewhere, Drago prepared to help Nightshade reach some of their other foes. Before they could act, the lower down of the two raingear viruses blasted a column of water at the pair; both warriors were quick to dart aside, however, before they completed their manoeuvre and Nightshade landed directly in front of the higher one. It responded instantly, blasting a second powerful column of water up from under the navi's feet, and Nightshade was immediately set on the defence, dodging away from the attack.

The other viruses seemed to view this intruder as the most pressing threat to their diva, since Nightshade was now closest to the stage, and the two Megalians immediately launched their heads across the area, trying to drive him away. Nightshade was left to duck and jump, nimbly avoiding each assault in turn, though it wasn't giving the cat-boy much chance to mount a counter-offence yet.

Aya and Suzume quickly rectified their initial slow down by warping the last stretch of distance to their targets, while, across the field, Yumi and Magistrate had to deal with the assaults of aggravated Powies, annoyed at having their concert interrupted. the two viruses seemed to take more objection to Yumi than to Magistrate, though it could easily have been them trying to strike what they thought of as an easier target. The young SP didn't make it easy for them, however, and as the viruses crashed down near her, neither managed to connect a hit.

Her navigator was stuck in a similar position, having to dodge rapidly as another burst of water exploded beneath him, and a third; each missed as he moved away with an agile grace, but it certainly looked frantic. The Tuby was unsatisfied with the continued presence of the uninvited interlopers and blasted out a second chorus of broken and disorienting notes; it was enough to make anyone's vision swim with confusion, but this time, at least, Aya and Suzume managed to avoid the worst of the sound effect. They were busy executing their own plan, readying hammers; the two Megalians thought they were wise to the pair, weaving away from each of them, but the twins had fought these sorts of viruses before, and as each Megalian dodged what it thought was the hammer strike coming for it, they both moved right into the path of the other twin's blow instead, and the two viruses were crushed in perfect unison.

Yumi dodged another Powie attack, still struggling to find an opportunity to strike back, before Magistrate took the initiative and thinned the ranks, blasting one of them away, while across the field, Drago raked his claws against one of the Raingear viruses, cutting it apart.

Unfortunately, as the broken and ear-piercing music continued to play, the destroyed viruses seemed to animate again, crackles of energy pulling their broken parts back together in a rictus of viral life. None of the previously destroyed viruses looked quite as sturdy as they had before, but they were very much alive enough to return to the assault.

As confusion rocked the field, and plans fell apart, each individual did what they could. Thankfully, their combat training held through the adversity. And at the end of the first round of battle, the dragoniers all came out unscathed, with first blood on their hands.

All four of the older dragoniers immediately dumped their curative signatures upon themselves to clear up the mounting Confusion. The enemy was quick to capitalize on any weakness and the four dodged away from the enemies nearest them. DragonierMan reached into his pocket and pulled forth a tiny knight figurine. "I think we need a little help. Come forth Knight! Your Master needs you once more," he said as he chucked the model towards the grass where Magistrate and Yumi were fighting the Powies. A sudden cloud of steam shot out from cracks int he figurine, and a Swordy3 emerged from the smoke. It's blade gleaming in the strobe-light. "Knight, assist Magistrate and Yumi. Nightshade keep on your feet, I believe you can handle those Raingear on your own. Suzume, Aya, form on me. We're going for the boss!" he said as he turned to the enemy diva's position inside the Crystal Shell.

The knightly Swordy3 teleported over to the twin Powies and began to stab and slice at them with its shining sword. Now reinforced, Magistrate could go further on the offense. She raised both her hands up as a trio of electric orbs formed around her head like a halo. They spun around her before lancing off, directed by her fingers at the two Megalians and the Crystal Shell itself. Sure, a ThunderBeam3 attack wouldn't be strong enough to break the shell completely, but it would cause a lot of damage to it. She then drew her own sword and turned to the two Powies. They would pay for trying to harm her daughter.

Magi brought her own heavy sword into the battle, swinging it against the Powies like a bat against a piñata. The saber sung out a duet with the Swordy3's sparkling blade, hoping to carve sweeping melodies across the Powies' hides. As they beat upon the Powies, trying to get those last two bounty kills; Drago, Suzu, and Aya attacked the Tuby's position. Drago's free arm glowed and released a rocket-powered triple punch into the Blast Screen and beyond. The twins followed the shattering with diving wings and drawn swords. They set upon the Diva like the wrath of an angry god. Trying to tear it, and its protective home, to tiny pieces.

"Raingears, got it!" Nighty yelled out trying to overpower the deafening music. Well...it could not even be called music. More like, earwrenching screech noises. The feline navi thanked the fact he was wearing a helmet and suzume's/aya's old outfit. It seemed that it would help him with his sound problem. He just needed a minute to get himself in gear. Yumi was not that fortunate. Her super sensitive hearing had her paws to ears whining loudly behind Magimom. She wouldn't be able to do much like that.

Nighty instead got to work after getting his bearings straight again. He quickly hopped aroun, kept his defenses high and pounced at the two Raingear viruses with all his might. Well...at least try to flail at them. That music isn't really helping the situation...

Yumi 1: Yumi defense 1
Yumi 2: Dodge
With the whole party reeling from the amplified noise pollution, Drago and his team had to look towards clearing their own heads first, and couldn't spare and resources to cure Nightshade or Yumi immediately, but fortunately for everyone, the younger navi and his new SP were both able to push through the disorienting sound and distraction clearly enough to get their own defences up at least.

The Tuby didn't let up, continuing to blare its racket across the area, with the sound hammering out from the amplifier and driving itself into their minds over and over; it was so bad it was almost getting difficult to see straight now. The two Raingears seemed not to be hampered by the sound at all, and continued trying to blast the intruders with water columns; one tried to catch Yumi and Magistrate while they were close to each other, but both ladies managed to break to either side of the burst and avoid damage. Over the other side, Drago was also left to dodge away from the geyser that was summoned beneath him, no less nimble on the rocky ground than he usually was in the air.

As he summoned his trusty knight to assist them, the two Powies leapt up and crashed down, still trying to flatten Yumi and Magistrate; one missed Magi entirely but the other made its attack more cleanly, crashing down on Yumi while she struggled to regather her bearings under the discordant noise hampering her senses. fortunately, it its crushing weight was deflected by the young Sp's barrier, and she was spared any actual harm. A moment later, the Swordy warped across the field and attempted to skewer both of the soft-bodied viruses, though on its first strike it only managed to pierce one.

Magistrate let lose her potent thunderbeam once she had a moment clear to do so; it obliterated both Megalians for the second time, sending their fried pieces crashing down to the rocks. The third bolt grounded itself close to the large crystal shell, but didn't quite manage to connect with it cleanly. It would have to do, however; the Sword-knight swung again, but couldn't connect with the one remaining Powie, and Magistrate was forced to bear her own sword to the task of finishing the virus off.

While this was happening, Nightshade steadied himself and refocused, finding an opportunity to go on the attack at last; the noise was proving difficult to overcome and his vision was blurry from the force of it, but with care, he was able to line up and connect two slashes one after the other on his target Raingear. It was enough to cut it apart and put it down.

The rest of the team turned their focus now on the diva itself, and Drago led off with a rocket punch trio that broke through the protective screen and exposed the virus to attack. His other two fists shot by; one did some heavy damage to the giant shell itself, while the other went a little wide and struck rock. The remaining Raingear hurriedly tried to blast the dragonier and stop him, but the water geyser split around Drago's barrier and failed to interrupt his efforts. Following his lead, Aya and Suzume rushed in afterwards, swords ready, and between them were able to shatter apart the shell and stage, and finally silence the Tuby itself with a last, crumpled metal note. blissful silence reigned for a few moments.

In the brief lull that followed, Nightshade launched himself at the remaining virus, slashing with his claws, but his disorientation was a bit deceptive; the virus was far away other other side of the field, and in his confusion, the navi was only cutting at air. The Raingear, however, surveyed the scene and weighed up its odds, before hurriedly throwing itself off the cliff and into the ocean below to escape the slaughter.

Having managed through a difficult battle by working together, the dragoniers gathered the hard fought rewards into sacks to send to their PET. When they finished, they met together again in the center of the debris-strewn battlefield. DragonierMan looked

at Nightshade, whom seemed more stable over the course of the last battle. "Great work everyone. It seems that we completed all of our goals for today's outing. We managed to put a dent in the local Powie population, we met an old acquaintance, and

it looks like Nightshade has stabilized as far as I can see."

Magistrate, Suzume, and Aya each took a turn to look at Nightshade as if trying to confirm whether he was stable or not. It was still kind of hard to tell without him outright confirming whether or not he felt like he stabilized. Drago continued, "I say we head back to the Bounty Shop and get our reward."

If Nightshade and/or Yumi still had things they wanted to say or do while they were still on the beach, the dragoniers would take the time to converse and stuff, before heading to the Bounty Shop through a portal.

Nightshade looked at his family, his hands now back to normal yet his eyes a striking greyish blue compared to his usuall deep sapphire. He didn't seem to be using any sort of visual chip either. Not only that, but his energy was... more distinctly "dragonieer" in nature.

"What?" He asked as everyone looked at him. "I'm fine, just a little tired is all." He reassured,Yumi prowling behind him with his dragosatchel in her mouth. "You guys go on ahead, we need to scramble up our stuff and then we'll hop over!" The navi thumb'd up his dad and waved as they entered the portal.
DragonierMan smiled, understanding of how tired everyone was getting from several intense battles. "Okay, we'll meet you there," he said as the dragoniers departed.
