The Phoenix Rising: New Beginnings (Net)

Upon Jacking in, Pyro heard Sarah mention exercise.

"Right. Don't think I'm not still mad, though. I mean, for you to just ignore me like that. It's...It's..."

She made a sort of half-screaming half-grunting noise before taking a walk around the net. She knew that there would be either a virus, or some navi that would eventually say the wrong thing somewhere. It was simply a matter of locating them, or them locating her. She made sure to check her surroundings every so often while she continued her walk. There were a few places on the net that she hadn't been to yet.


"Yeah, well, just make sure you don't get in over your head. And yes, you're right. I shouldn't have closed the pet while you were talking, but I get tired of hearing it after a while. Now that that's dealt with, how's about we see just how fire resistant the local viruses are."

"Sounds good to me."

As Pyro began to wonder about the areas of ACDC Net that she had not been in...soon enough, a simple trio of metools would waddle up to her, swinging their picks from side to side, seemingly happy that there was a new navi to harass and potentially murder the hell out of. Oh the poor, poor fools. Incidentally, their helmets seemed...singed, beaten up, scratched, dented, among other battle damage...could they be the same three metools that have come to harass newly starting navis each and every time? Curiouser and curiouser. Either way, Pyro's data indicated the three as a threat to her well being, so it was combat routine! Set! EXECUTE! Using this chance, the Metools would take up positions around Pyro, one to either side of her and one in front...as well, there was...this green glittering cube behind the one in front of her, spinning slowly a good deal of way away from Pyro.

"Aww, how cute! I almost wanna adopt them! Too bad I have to burn them, but it's either them, or some other unsuspecting virus. Sorry little ones, but this has to be done. I've kinda been pent up for a while."

Pyro sighed audibly before slamming her right fist directly towards the face of the metool that was right in front of her. As her arm finished it's extension, a bright flame engulfed her fist. Once she was certain that that particular virus had been dealt with, she turned to her right, while mindful of the other virus, when suddenly she opened a screen in front of her.

"Hey, Sarah, I'm running silent. Mind fixing that?"

After Pyro closed the screen, and a few moments passed, some rather fitting music played through a headset that Pyro wore. This caused her to dance around a bit between attacking and defending. She seemed to be dancing at a lively pace, no doubt it was something with a rapid rhythm. In fact, it was something of a new age song that incorporated violins, guitars, drums, and electronic sounds, in a surprisingly well orchestrated combination.

As Pyro moved, Sarah slotted in several battle chips. One such chip caused Pyro to scoop up the metool in front of her, and launch it, as she had gotten too close to deal direct damage with the RageClaw1 battle chip, but she could still make use of it in this way, as reports had shown that throwing the opponent dealt the same damage to them as the actual chip attack.

"Had enough?"

She smirked as she danced her way over to the remaining metool.

"Don't worry. I'll be sure to make this quick, but I have to tell you that it probably won't be painless."

Pyro tilted her head as she continued to smile before her left hand turned into something that looked like a flamethrower, and expelled a bright orange flame towards the metool. After this was done, If all metools had been taken care of, she would check the green cube, which was quite obviously what most net denizens referred to as Mystery Data, just to see what was inside. She was a curious sort, but that wasn't always a good thing. For all she knew it could have been a trap.

Getting to the start of things, Pyro lashed out against the virus right in front of her, a flaming punch that went just wide enough to miss the virus she was aiming for, her fist extinguishing before making her exit from being surrounded loosely by the metools, the one on her right immediately sending it's pick down on the ground in retaliation, only for it to miss completely between her movements. As the music turned on, the other two would do differing things, one throwing it's pickaxe at Pyro's face and unfortunately, it lodged it's self between her eyes, sticking out comically before disappearing as the metool resummoned it (-10) and waved it menacingly at her. The other, unfortunately for her, would shield it's self from being deleted, hiding under it's helm to avoid being hit. Unfortunately for it, one of it's comrades were scooped up in nails and pain, slammed down into the ground almost immediately afterwards, shattering it's helmet and deleting the virus upon impact. Even with her dancing, she would fire out a blast of roaring flames, the metool squealing in pain as it hit, sending a splash of flames directly behind it, leaving nothing more than a charred corpse that disappated into junk data. Leaving only the metool she had attacked, acting as though the battle was over, she would waltz over towards the GMD that had been left behind the metool she failed to delete. Unfortunately for Pyro, a rolling wave of energy would smash towards her. She barely evaded the attack due to good intuition...the GMD however...would take the hit instead, nearly shattering the fragile cube as it just barely hung on (10).

There was a fire behind Pyro's eyes as she stepped out from behind the mystery data. If this was going to be her prize for winning this battle, she certainly didn't want it damaged. There was something else, however, behind the fire. It was something dark, something that had yet to be tapped into. Perhaps a power that remained unknown to the navi or her operator, and simply needed a gentle nudge in the right, or wrong, direction. It was faint, but it was there, resting inside of Pyro as she closed the distance between herself and the metool.

"Alright, let's take a headcount, shall we. When this fight started, there were three of you. Both are now in pieces somewhere along the net, to be reconstituted later as new viruses. You, however, remain, and I think I'm going to enjoy taking my time with you."

She wore a menacing grin as she approached, and proceeded to punch towards the face of the virus once more. Except that this time, her arm erupted in flames before reaching it. Were the virus unlucky enough to get hit by this, it would surely take it out. However, in the event that this did not, Pyro activated her Shotgun chip, and fired in the direction of said virus.

"I'd like to, but time isn't exactly on your side, now that you've angered me. Sorry, but you had your chance."

If the virus were still standing, Pyro would equip her cannon chip and fire towards it. This might have seemed like overkill, butt she had to be certain that it was dead before turning her back on it, as she had done previously. It wasn't a matter of preference so much as survival. Only once she was certain of it's deletion would she check the mystery data. However, in her movements, she was careful to avoid leading the metool towards the mystery data.

Angry at the metool existing still, Pyro, understandably peeved at such a thing happening, would go on to absolutely destroy and otherwise completely delete the single Metool that had the audacity to survive her first salvo of attacks. This ended the Metool's short life, but on the plus side, she would notice a roughly intact pickaxe, it could convert to chip data, as well as a little zenny scattered about. Now...what to do about that GMD...
