The Blob in Dentech

In an indigo shimmer, Enigma materialized into Dentech Net, casually looking around as he did so.

Four thousand is the goal, by the way, said Ceres from the safety of his bed. That's the last two for the speed upgrade and two process upgrades for twenty-one-hundred.

'Kay, replied Enigma shortly, venturing further into the Net with a steady watch on his surroundings. As he walked, it became less of a stroll than it was a float, though his torso still bounced with an invisible stride.

I'll try and look into why we haven't gotten the e-mail in the meantime, added Ceres. Just so I'm not completely useless up here.

Aw, thanks buddy, snorted Enigma, his reply dripping with sarcasm. Don't worry, I've gotten used to it by now.

No need to be bitter, I send you chips! laughed Ceres. Enigma just shook his head and looked for some viruses.

= Battle one, if you please. =
Enigma spots a bunch of tough viruses in the distance. Two Ironshields bring up the front, defenses raised, while three KillerEyes seek prey with their powerful laser vision.

It was going to be an uphill battle.

I wish we had more Breaking chips, complained Enigma upon sight of the two IronShields.

Two will be fine here, I think, replied Ceres sharply.

Learn to take a joke, will ya? Enigma grinned at his operator, the best thing he could do short of a real-world friendly punch. His smile faded slightly when Ceres didn't respond, so he continued, Well, anyways, send the hammer and the AuraHead, unsure of why Ceres was so moody.

Okay, Ceres said with a release of pent-up breath. He proceeded to slot in a trio of chips, hesitating before selecting the third. I'm sending an AirRaid, just be careful of the KillerEyes, he reported.

Sure, nodded Enigma, activating the AirRaid and taking a deep breath. Does he actually care that we lost? He is sort of competitive... Bah. Exhaling and locking his eyes on the IronShield to his left, Enigma took three steps of a sprint forward before disappearing entirely. A split second later, a blur of purple could be seen beside the armored virus, already hoisting a huge hammer above itself, apparently thrown off balance before using its own body weight to bring the hammer swinging down upon the virus with an almighty thud.

Try to line up the AuraHead, suggested Ceres, and Enigma did so without wasting an ounce of his momentum, springing back up from his one knee to sprint in front of the second IronShield. As he leapt towards it, he spun a full three-sixty in midair, not particularly in the mood to be hit by a laser before he was done with the IronShields. As soon as his half-formed feet made contact with the ground, Enigma pushed off backwards, thrusting both of his hands forwards and expelling what appeared to be a giant, purple Megalian head. As it sped towards the shield, Enigma threw himself to his right in another dodge-roll type of move and conjured up a small barrier of data between himself and the KillerEyes. It would have to do, until he could get more chips to strike back at the seeking viruses.

Meanwhile, as Enigma crouched behind his own shield, the rumble of a fighter jet's engines sounded from behind the viruses. Soon enough, a jet was bearing down upon the giant eyes with guns blazing, not even asking for orders before beginning its assault. Nodding in approval, Enigma shot a glance to Ceres as if questioning his next move.

I've already got the spread chips in hand, Ceres replied to the glance, holding up a good group of chips as if to prove he wasn't lying. Enigma nodded, and concentrated on not getting blown to smithereens.

Enigma starts off by summoning an Airraid, before teleporting out of the way of a Wrecker fired from one of the Ironshields.

Reappearing besides his foe, the blob whacks the Ironshield to deletion, before narrowly avoiding another Wrecker from the other Ironshield.

Enigma then blasts the Ironshield away with a Megalian head and forms an Aura. There was nothing in line with it...

A KillerEye blasts a laser BEAAAAAAAAAAAAAM at the AirRaid before getting owned by the AirRaid. Another KillerEye fires a BEAAAAAM at Enigma, but his Aura nulls it.

Whoopsie, overkill time, chuckled Enigma as his plan worked near-perfectly. Send some chips over, if you please.

Done, replied Ceres, followed by a long yawn as he rubbed his eyes. I need a nice, long nap after this, he complained.

After you run to the store, that is, Enigma grinned.

What's the use? They haven't sent the e-mail and we lost in the tournament, grumbled Ceres, beginning to slot in each chip individually.

Getting stronger wouldn't hurt the chances of an e-mail, and plus, it's fun, shrugged Enigma, activating his first two chips with the very same gesture he used in his reply. Cracking his neck experimentally, he turned to the duo of KillerEyes with a bulky cylinder protruding from each of his wrists. Smugly pulling them upwards, Enigma narrowed his eyes and fired the Shotguns simultaneously, not giving the bursts of energy one second to fly through the air before activating his newest chip, a protective shield that would hopefully deflect any harmful lasers back towards the pair. After waiting a few seconds, he made sure he'd reinforced his own natural shield before dismissing the Guard and grabbing his last two chips.

We need more Areagrabs, too, suggested Ceres absentmindedly.

True, murmured Enigma, glancing upwards quickly to noticing his air support spiraling downwards rapidly, causing him to flinch and take a few steps back from where he thought it'd land. However, just before it became a lawn dart, the pilot apparently managed to struggle with it just enough so that it pulled out of the dive and continued on an erratic path around the area of Enigma and the viruses, just barely staying in flight. Whistling lowly, Enigma returned his gaze to the KillerEyes and readied his weapons. On his left arm was a flamethrower and on the right was a fire extinguisher, and he was ready for battle.

Isn't extinguishing the fire like that kind of pointless? snorted Ceres from the safety of his desk.

Maybe, but it gives good dramatic effect, Enigma replied casually. Just watch. With that, he activated the Flameline, guiding the stream of flame into a steady funnel-shape in line with the two remaining viruses, moving the torch to the left and right occasionally. Once the flamethrower spluttered out of ammo, Enigma pulled the cord from the fire extinguisher and let the freezing chemicals wash over the area in front of him in another funnel-like torrent of the elements. That oughta do it, he asserted, settling back behind his data-shield to watch the dust settle.

Easy enough, shrugged Enigma, grabbing the zenny and chip. Six hundred and a weak chip? Ugh, he complained.

We can always sell the chip, Ceres suggested. Come on, keep pushing through.

Enigma sighed pointedly, but continued into the Net with his usual casual air.
