((Have you ever seen a Madder Sky?))

Red sighed as she got off the lava, but the battle was far from over as she conjured up two water attacks, the first crunching her opponent effectively, while the second one missed, inadvertantly kicking up more steam as she and Binary grew further and further apart from Damian and each other. Red blasted a shot in the dark, and hit the enemy, but then examined the steam

But... This steam, this steam, this STEAM! The badass hottie grumbled as she tried peering through this ridiculous visibility barrier.

"How the hell are we supposed to get through this?" the crimson crusader mumbled to herself as Binary also fired some shots far away. She ate a strawberry nervously in the meanwhile.

"Well, since the problem is steam, something with an auto-targeting system should be able to pinpoint the enemy," Shin suggested, sipping on some lemonade.

"Keh, full of ideas, aren't you? Well, send some stuff down, I'm getting really tired of all this," the fairy-tale fighter snapped, holding her arm out in front of her.

"Well, hit him with all you got," the food maniac chuckled, throwing three chips into the PET. Turning to Chris, the self-proclaimed Ace whispered a suggestion about lighting some candles into his ear.

"This better work," the red-caped wonder mumbled as she hefted a newly-summoned bazooka and had the targeting system do its work. She had heard a splash into some water earlier, so Binary was probably not in the way of the blast.

When the vectors had locked onto something, which Red dearly hoped it was Damian, the warrior prayed to all the gods in the world and pulled the trigger.

The warrior almost rocketed back from the force of the shot that sped through the steam, homing in on its target, but she carefully steadied herself and threw the firearm aside, wind gathering her hands.

She closed her eyes and waited.

The impact of the shot against... whatever, might've been Damian, but might not be, but anyway, it was likely to be the enemy. The crimson-cloaked fighter took this chance and gathered a hurricane at her beckon. The wind mistress let out a deep breath she had taken moments before, shot open her eyes, and blasted with full force at the steam in the direction of the supposed impact was.

She could make out a figure, but the wind and steam flying around everywhere was really making her unsure. Regardless, she took the chance. Orbs of water gushed over her gloved hands as she peered into the battlefield.

"One..." the badass hottie mumbled, punching forcibly into the air an amazing right straight that might've gotten some comments from boxing experts if the point was punching normally in the first place.

An explosion of water erupted noisily out of the navi's fist and rocketed at uncanny speeds toward Damian, the way possibly cleared by the latest hurricane maneuver, but it still blasted on.

Immediately afterward, the red-caped wonder sent an arc of the same element as her last attack speeding head-on toward the foe, and hoped it hit. There were good followups to attacks, the famous one-two punch was no exception, but instead of hitting with something slow first, Red had went with a faster bullet, then a slower wave immediately after. This combination would prove to be damaging, so the combatants hoped.

Getting into a runner's position, Red eyed the area where opponent was and got ready to make a run for it if something came flying out of the direction of the enemy at the moment's notice. Everything was on edge, but the fairy-tale fighter could be a lot more careful because of that.

While Binasplash writhed in the water, clutching the angry burns that refused to cool in the icy water, Chris was inwardly mashing his panic button for all it was worth. Fine, Damian could plausibly be taken out after one last good run of firing whatever at him, but Binary was almost done. Unless there were some way to ensure Damian couldn't attack him during his final chip rush, he would have no choice but to return Binary to the PET and lose all the progress they'd made in this forest. He watched the Crossed Binary convulsing underwater, and tried to think of something.

Then the answer hit Chris: underwater. If Binary stayed at this range and kept himself under the surface, Damian would neither be able to turn his sanctuary into lava, or get under the water to attack. It was perfect! "Binary! Get the Harvester working again, and stay underwater! Damian won't be able to touch you while you pump him full of everything we have left!" Chris called, taking a quartet of chips and slotting them in one after the other.

"Gotcha! I'll stay down here where it's cool, thank you very much!" Binasplash answered back, his voice somehow transmitting through the digital liquid. He felt data being transferred, much of it Wood-element. He pulled up the folders, and found a Vulcan, Boomerang, Energybomb, and Cornshot; all decent chips, he supposed, but their best ones had already been used. Sighing, Binasplash clicked on the Energy Harvester. The kinetic energy he'd generated from his thrashing about earlier was greedily devoured by the program, and the Navi felt some slight relief to his many burns. And with that, he went to work.

Quickly, Binasplash loaded up the Boomerang; a shiny, hydrodynamic disk with a hole in the middle appeared in his hands. Twirling the oddly CD-shaped object around one finger, the Crossed Navi tried to spot Damian from the water. It was somewhat difficult, but once he saw a big red vector appear on a certain spot in the cloud of steam he let the Frisbee of doom fly. "Thank you, Red," Binasplash thought before moving on.

Having memorized the position the targeting marker had appeared on, the Navi whipped out a random multitude of tentacles and loaded the Vulcan into them. With a sound that reminded Chris of a gattling gun winding up, the tentacles charged up before firing off their payloads of the Vulcan's ammunition. A hailstorm of tiny silver pellets flew out of the water at Damian.

Finished with the tentacles, Binasplash retracted the long appendages, and instead arced his massive tail-cannon over his head with a heave of effort. The Cornshot loaded quickly enough, and soon some rattling could be heard from within the cavernous barrel of the tentacle. A second later, two loud gunshots sounded in quick succession, and two sunshine-yellow... cobs of corn flew from the opening and out of the water. Upon reaching a certain distance in the air, the corn cobs exploded, and dozens of tiny kernels flew down to terra firma, making small explosions on impact.

Finally, Binasplash loaded his final contribution, the Energybomb. The barrel of his giant tail cannon glowed a dangerous shade of blue, bright and flashing as he loaded the chip up. Before movement, he scanned the ground with a visor that popped out from the top of his helmet, looking for Damian in one final confirmation that this chip was to hit. A few seconds went by without any sort of movement, then out of the blue a torpedo was launched from the water, the warhead flashing various blues. Upon contact with the fiery ground, it detonated in a brilliant triad of explosions, intent on wiping the cursed form of Damian from this twisted forest.

With nothing better to do, Binasplash just floated in the chilling water, waiting for anything to happen.

*Energy Harvest (Regen5)
*Streamlined... (+1 Accuracy to Energybomb)

1. Boomerang1 to Damian (60)

2. Vulcan2 to Damian (5x10)

3. Cornshot1 to Damian (50, two shots)

4. Streamlined Energybomb to Damian (40x3, +1 Accuracy)
Red's attacks hit one after another, blowing away most of the steam in the process and causing another explosion of the lava underneath Damian. The fourth attack overshoots the demon as he collapses to the ground, but that should have been enough, right?

Wrong.

The demon lord stands up again, looking as though he should have died instantly Two gaping holes can be seen in his chest, presumably where rock from the rapidly cooling lava ripped through his body. His left arm was missing entirely, as was a large chunk out of both of his legs. A spike from his armor had lodged itself in the side of his head. On top of that, that half of his face was mangled, and blood was running down all of it. He shrieked, a savage, rasping roar that shook the entire battlefield as flames rose from the depths of the lava, wrapping around his body. More fire pillars rose on all sides from the streams and even from under the water itself, vaporizing most of it instantly. The steam became denser, completely obscuring anything beyond two feet of both Red and Binary. Targeting became completely impossible.

Or it would have, if the beast that Damian had become wasn't burning so brightly as to still become a beacon amidst the steam.

It shot directly towards Red, swinging its partially mangled weapon at her. Though she tried to dodge, it wasn't enough as the axe-blade connected, bursting into flames at that exact moment and igniting her. This also, however, opened it up to Binary's fire.

The boomerang caught fire and burned to nothing before it hit, but the subsequent vulcan and explosive attacks connected, knocking the monster away before it could attack again. The blasts also blew away the steam around Damian, giving them witness to his last moments.

The mangled, burning form that had once been a man rose into the air, writhing in agony. A whirlpool opened up in the lava beneath him, presumably leading into hell itself. Damian slowly descended into it as the lava swirled in to fill the hole.

As the dark emperor's screams disappeared from the battlefield, the steam rose to the sky and the lava solidified, leaving a charred, rocky landscape of solidified lava flows where once had been a clearing in the middle of the forest. Several trees around them had been incinerated, and a few farther away were still burning, though the fires were dying. In the distance, it was apparent that the village had suffered very little damage, though the residents were no longer gathered in a mob, but shut in their homes. Surprisingly, the refuge where the human Damian had hidden was still recognizable, if only for two walls, a door frame, and about half the roof still being mostly intact. A gaping crack is visible in the floor of the refuge, from which voices can be heard underneath. Another area?!

As they approach, however, the notebook and script that Myun had been holding fall in front of them. A loose page from the script falls out and lands nearby. On it is written instructions to...leave?

'To exit and return later, simply write your name at the end of the last page with lines written, and the word "CUT". This will allow you to take a break, as even the Director understands the need for rest occasionally. However, this can only be done between scenes.'

How convenient...
The silence that followed Damian's final moments was broken by Binasplash being forcefully erupted out of the ground as it hardened to rock. The data that flowed off him in great coils signaled the end of the Cross, but it remained on his face just long enough for him to shout, "THAT WAS INTENSE!" Immediately afterward, however, Binasplash quite literally exploded in a blast of raw data, the blue digits turning white with black digits floating inside. Binary reformed, the same as ever. "DAMIAN.EXE: DELETED!" he screeched in his version of a victory cry.

A pair spade-tipped tentacles suddenly extended from Binary's elbows, dividing the spoils left behind into roughly equal portions. One tentacle retracted back into him, where the zenny and chip data was processed and sent to the PET. The other was offered to Red.

Chris wiped a visible amount of sweat from his brow. "Well, I'm glad that's over with," he said, "and from the looks of things, we might have our way out." He was peering through his screen at the piece of paper dropped from the script. He turned to Shin and said, "What do you say, Shin? Want to call it quits and save the rest for a rainy day?"

He was about to elaborate, when he caught a glimpse of Binary. His body was going completely mental, giant coils of gel looping around him as he acted... almost confused. "ADDITIONAL DATA: CURRENTLY PROCESSING!" the Navi screeched...
Red gasped as the Demon Emperor left a mortal, burning wound in her side as she tried to avoid the monster. The pain was anguishing, but soon over as Binary took care of the rest. The battlefield, or what remained of it, was normal now. Sighing in relief, the crimson crusader slumped down on her knees, reverting back to her original form.

"Whoo, I'm glad that's over," the fairy-tale fighter sighed, getting up a bit as Binary moved a bit through the battlefield, landing on some reward data.

Her gelatinous friend has offered her half of the data, and she gladly took it, however, a spark jumped between them as she took the rewards. The red-caped wonder gasped, familiar to the sensation. They had approached another area, but the script had given them other directions.

"Well, I sure will call it a day, Mr. Lemrock," Shin said, getting up and stretching. "Red, sign out."

"Sure," the navi nodded back, tired. She pulled two pens out of her picnic basket and tossed one to Binary, picking up the script page. Red put it back on the original, and extracted the back sheet, popping off the pen cap, and writing, rather scrawl-like:

Red_Riding_Hood.exe CUT.

Tiredly, she smiled and handed the page and script to Binary.

"Here you go, Binary-san... ugh," the scarlet warrior groaned, clutching at her side.

That's odd, some of Red's signature programming has gone awry from that last attack. I better check it later, Shin thought.

[Wrote stuff, blargh]
Catching the pen and accepting the paper in his barely-used, writhing hands, Binary wrote "Binary_EXE CUT" in letters that seemed almost machine-printed. He extended his arms and deposited the pen back into Red's basket, and handing Myun the paper. While doing so, he noticed Red's condition. "CONDITION OF RED_RIDING_HOOD.EXE: APPARENT CRITICAL STATUS!" he toned. On what would have been impulse had Binary had emotions, Binary placed a churning, flat-tipped tentacle on Red's injury, intent on healing the wound with the Energy Harvester.

When he did touch her, however, a very visible spark erupted, causing the tentacle to jerk back. "UNEXPECTED CIRCUMSTANCES!" Binary shouted.
((What a strange girl.))

"So it seems," Red chuckled as the two once more appeared back in Netopia Net, the Script in Red's hands.

"I'll keep this for now. I feel like there are things in this world still left unsolved, but yet can wait for another time. When that time comes, I'll ask you to act with me in this play of mystery once again, Binary-san," the crimson crusader said cheerfully, pocketing the script and notebook in her picnic basket.

The modern feel of Netopia's Net washed over the two as the red-caped wonder stared a bit at the sky.

"Despite the distance that separates us, we will always be connected. It's something I learned from the utilization of my Soul Crosses," Red commented. The damsel put on a cheery expression and waved goodbye to Binary.

"So, I'll see you then."

...And so she jacked out, ready to move onto the next page of her life.

[JACK-OUT]
As the forest faded away to reveal the bright, modern feel of Netopia Net, Chris sighed, "Hoo boy, that was tough. Binary, we're heading out. I'll take a look at that anomaly you found once we're back in my office," he ordered.

"AFFIRMATIVE!" Binary called. The writhing mass of gel that he'd become became a vicious whirlwind in seconds, fading away while the black digits shot skyward, back into the PET. The last thing his optics caught before he was restored to the PET was the cherry-red beam of light carrying Red up and away.
