Revenge of the Aqua Navi!

(OOC: Minor thought I feel like sharing: SplashMan doesn't even have a mouth, much less teeth. Unless you mean figuratively. Because that'd be totally accurate.)

For some reason, the fact there were exactly three viruses left gave SplashMan a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. Maybe it was because as long as he didn't screw up, the battle would end. Maybe it was because at worst, he'd have to worry about maybe two attacks. Or maybe it was because none of the remaining viruses were blazing guns of doom...with arms. Regardless, he was happy about the situation as he left the comfort of the holy panels for the regularity of...regular panels surrounded by poisonous goop. "I'm ready, Sabrina! So, how are we gonna wrap this up?"

"I was thinking that we shouldn't screw this up, so we should go with the most accurate chip we have. And we've got three of that, so...yeah, do the math!" And naturally, Sabrina backed this up with a trio of cannon-based chips to her PET's insertion slot. "Battlechip, MarkCannon! Triple slot in!"

The green and gray cannon formed on the Navi's arm, who immediately sent forth its signature cursor. After a few moments, it seemed to lock onto something in the vicinity of the Quaker twins...preferrably one of the Quakers. Before he could think about that, however, the gun automatically aimed itself and fired a blast towards whatever had been locked on. From there, the cursor moved for all of half a second before finding something else and letting them involuntarily have it. And since there was still a third shot, it swept back and forth until it approached the remaining Volgear, and let the final blast ring loud and clear.

Once the last shot had been fired, SplashMan lowered his arm, which was now its usual self, and sighed. "This is rough...I like Electopia's Nets more!"

"Yeah...not so sure about wanting to move on now, huh?"

"Eh, it's okay! I'll get back here before long!" The Aqua Navi raised a fist, now pumped to get deeper in the Netopian Net next time. But first, it would probably be wise to look the area over and make sure everything but him was a goner.

Splashman does another quickdraw as the Quakers come smashing down, the shockwaves heading imminently toward the water warrior, while the Volgear does a flaming line attack of his own.
Three quick blasts from the Markcannon sail through the air, deleting all three viruses before the attacks hit....
Oh, guess not, one shockwave DID manage to nick Splashman's leg, but not too much harm done.

Finally, it was over. Sure, he was hurt, but he wasn't deleted, and that was fine with him. Well, maybe not fine, but it beat the tar out of the alternative. "Okay, they're gone! And I hurt all over..." Despite his numerous fire gun and shock wave induced injuries, SplashMan made his way to the remaining data, and began analyzing it. "Okay, here's the cash! And there's chip data, but it's nothing I've ever encountered!"

"Hmm...if we got a chip, it's probably a Fire one, bleck...oh well, send it over." And so, Sabrina's zenny total rose, and the PET's analyzing program got to work as it received the incoming data. "Okay, shouldn't be too long!...All right, done! The chip is...Magnum1? Never heard of it, but it looks like it came from those Basher things. Wonder if it's good?" Though she didn't say anything else, she slowly turned over towards her dad, who had one eyebrow raised significantly above the other.

"Magnum...interesting. All right, I'll tell you what I know about it. You're right, it's a Fire elemental chip. However, according to my Navi's experiences with it, it feels more like a Cursor chip than a Fire chip, so this may be one that SplashMan can tolerate. Its attack power is 120, and is capable of smashing panels. You can even charge it in order to hit up to 3 enemies with it."

"Doesn't sound fiery...well, SplashMan? Want it in our folder?"

"Eh...sure, why not? Your dad said it felt more like a Cursor chip, and it sounds pretty good!"

"Okay!" A chip featuring the Basher emerged from Sabrina's PET, and she promptly swapped it out for her final Shotgun. "There, it's in! Oh, and FYI...no more Shotgun for us! I took out the last one for Magnum!"

"Oh, one more thing. Even though it's obtainable by regular virus busting, it's a very rare chip. Even I have trouble getting them. So take care with it."

"It's rare? Cool!" Sure didn't look the part, though...in fact, if it wasn't the only Fire chip in her folder, it wouldn't really stand out to her at all..."Oh, SplashMan! Ready to jack out?"

The Navi looked forward longingly, but knew that he was too banged up to continue, and Sabrina wasn't going to take no for an answer even if he didn't. "Let's try getting deeper later!" And suddenly, he vanished from the Net, returning to the safe confines of his operator's PET.

(back to regular Netopia!)
SplashMan appeared once more on the main Net, less than coincidentally in the same spot he had entered last time. "All right, I'm in! Last time was just practice for us, so let's get farther in this time!"

"Yep! And this time I'm not leaving, even if I get a headache or something!"

"Good!" Well, no sense in just standing around. They had viruses to bust. "I'm going in!" And so, the Aqua Navi ventured into the Net, in search of things that could be fought.

(searching for Battle #1)
A single, grinning Volgear seems to be all that there is to greet Splashman as he reenters Netopia net. It just kind of sits there, like a speed bump trying to be a road block. Then, upon furthur inspectation, Splashman can also see a pair of dumbbell looking things, wobbling a fair distance away, though they are still close enough to be a threat... probably.

Battle 1 Go
The irony...he was picking things up right where he left off. Of course, this time he had a fancy new chip, even if it was Fire elemental. SplashMan prepped himself for battle, but really, he had no intentions of doing very much if he could get away with it. "Hey, Sabrina! What do you say we use that chip we just got? I mean, it's probably a good idea to test it, right?"

"I was waiting for one of us to say that!" The might Basher chip was inserted into her PET post haste. "Okay, here you go! Battlechip, Magnum! Slot in!"

And then...nothing happened. At least, it looked like nothing was happening. But in truth, SplashMan could feel a power welling up in him...a power with enough fire to be dangerous. "Ack...it's like a fire's inside me..."

"A fire's inside you? Is that even possible? I mean, your insides are all water...but try and hold it! Dad said it can be charged, so we might as well see what we're dealing with!"

"I'll try..." The Aqua Navi acted as though he was suddenly frozen solid, as he tried to ignore the fact it felt like he had major heartburn, despite not really having either component of it. "...Urk! Now it's like there's two fires..."

"Hang in there! It'll probably fire automatically once it's maxed out."

"I hope so..." AS if on cue, a third flame seemed to appear in SplashMan's insides, and suddenly all three vanished. A moment later, cursors appeared around the trio of viruses, and were inundated with explosions. And yet, despite the fires that he had felt, the explosions seemed awfully non-fiery. In a way, he was a little disappointed at that..."Well, I think I get what the charge is for. At max charge, there were three fires inside me. And there were three explosions. So I think it affects how many targets it hits, and not power or anything!"

"Huh...good to know! I'll have to remember that for next time. Oh, and I gotta ask...was it too Fire-based for you?"

"Hmm...I guess I'll live!" Of course, the Aqua Navi didn't dare say otherwise; Sabrina seemed too into the chip, and the end result didn't looked especially fiery anyway. Oh well, it was still just 1 out of 30 chips. That was what, 3% of their options if you included his innate moves? Shrugging at himself, he looked towards where his adversaries had been, or possibly still were, and braced himself for some evasive maneuvers if he had to.

Splashman grunted before forming a massive triple-barreled cannon in his arms, and pointing it at the viruses. Concentrating all his power into the Magnum chip, the water warrior let out a roar when the chip was fully charged, letting loose a humongous blast of devastating fire at the enemies. A Quaker tried leaping into the air at the last moment to escape, but the blast caught its underside and disintegrated the virus' lower body straight off, deleting it.
Smoke and destruction was all that lay where the viruses once stood.

...Well, it didn't get any easier than that. Thankful that the battle actually went entirely his way for once, SplashMan walked over towards the remaining data, minding the now smashed panels, and started analyzing it. "Let's see...just cash this time! Sending it over!"

Sabrina watched her zenny total magically rise a bit, then sat down, settling into another round of busting. A luxury to her, since she had a knack for locating jack-in ports without any sitting related objects nearby. And sitting on the ground/floor? Not a chance. "Ahh...it's nice to sit back while we're busting for a change! Too bad I can't relax while we're doing it, though. Oh yeah, how was Magnum?"

"Lies! It was all lies! It felt pretty fiery to me while I was charging! Though once I fired, it wasn't too bad, I guess."

"Good, because I'm not switching it out! Now go on, let's hit the road!"

"Right!" The Aqua Navi kneeled and punched the panel in front of him. "...Just kidding!" A silence indicated that his operator was choosing to completely ignore his sad attempt at humor. "Aww, come on! Can't I at least keep myself loose?" More silence. Figuring that he wasn't going to get any answer until he found more viruses, he sighed, and starting moving deeper into the Net.

Aha, viruses! ...Very, very boring viruses. Well, Handy could set up time bombs, but what did the others do? Paint on panels and jump around? Oh well, at least it made it easier to focus on the job at hand. "Okay, let's go! ...But that Handy's kinda blocked right now...guess we should focus on the BrushMen for now!"

"Bzzt! Wrong! Focus on the Handy for a sec!" As her Navi did so, Sabrina pulled out a chip featuring a cloud holding an umbrella. She almost hated to use it, though, since she found it so adorable... "All right, here! Battlechip, LilCloud! Slot in!"

"Lil-what?" Before the Navi could turn and look at his operator with a befuddled glance, a small cloud quickly formed over him, then moved straight over the BrushMan twins, and stopped in the area of the hand virus. And then, the forecast for the battlefield went from sunny to isolated rain patches in the vicinity the Handy. And it was pouring pretty badly, at least from what he could see. "When did we get that? We've never used it before..."

"It's something I got when I traded the ElecReels away. But let's worry about more viruses for now, okay? So...the music note things! Blast 'em with this!" Two blue cannon chips were inserted into the PET. "Battlechip, Hi-Cannon! Double slot in!"

SplashMan held his right arm high, as the very same cannon as on the chip, appeared over his hand and forearm. He then positioned it towards one of the Melody, but didn't immediately fire. Sure, it was still now, but he had take into account that it liked to bounce around. Let's see, where should he shoot...ah, that should be a good spot. And then, he let loose a powerful blast of energy towards. And a quick repeat of the situation was performed for another virus. So where, exactly, did he shoot? Well, that would be telling, wouldn't it?

"Sabrina!" A sudden shout could be heard from outside the room. "Could you come out here for a second?"

Though she wasn't happy about it, Sabrina got up out of her chair and poked her head out the door in the hallway.

"What is it, Mom?! I'm kinda in the middle of something here!"

The Aqua Navi shook his head, since he still had time to attack once more. At least he could do that much himself. He leaned forward, trying to do what he had done with Hi-Cannon to the non-targeted Melody. And once that was done...blam! Water gushed forth from the cannons on his back, capable of easily drowning a single Melody in one hit. And that was that. All he could do now was get ready to try and dodge any surviving bouncy music note attacks, and moreso hope his operator could weasel herself out of having to do anything...

THe Lilcloud makes its way accross the field without much trouble and pours down on the Handy, deleting it. Splashman then breaks out a pair of HiCannons and fires at the Melodies, though only one goes down. He then wraps up his attacks by sending a wave of water at another Melody, taking it out. The last Melody then pounces on Splashman as his netop leaves the room. One Brushman makes a Holy Panel.

...Dang those Melody! No matter what he tried, it just seemed like he couldn't get them all in one round. Granted, he'd only seen them a couple of times, but they just seemed annoying. Ah well, he'd make sure to get that other one now. "Ugh, can you give me something to take out this..." Oh yeah, Sabrina wasn't there at the moment. Crud... "Guess I'll have to beat it myself..."

"Don't even think about it!" As if she had heard her Navi, the young woman grabbed a chip and quickly placed it into her PET. "Battlechip, MarkCannon! Slot in!"

While SplashMan was happy to see the green cannon form on his hand and forearm, he was a bit surprised. "Back already?"

"Turns out she just wanted to know if I felt like dessert. And I'm still kinda full, so I took a pass! Now come on!"

"Right!" The Aqua Navi held up the MarkCannon, causing crosshairs to appear at his feet, which began to search the area at a rapid pace. After a few moments, it seemed to lock onto something around the area of the last Melody, causing the cannon to auto-aim and shoot its high accuracy blast towards it. But it seemed a tad stronger than usual...looked like SplashMan might've put a little extra energy into the attack. "Okay, now for the BrushMen!" ...Aww, one of them had already painted on their panel... "...Darn, there's a holy panel under one of them! Looks like we gotta do some panel altering!"

"Uhh...right!" Sabrina saw this as a perfect excuse to use her new rare chip, and as a result sent something fiery her Navi's way. "You don't have to charge this time, just fire it! Battlechip, Magnum! Slot in!"

Oddly enough, SplashMan felt no fire from the chip attack this time around. Since he didn't have to charge it, a cursor simply appeared, and an unseen force suddenly blasted the area around the protected paintbrush. As long as they just did that, he couldn't say he had any problem with it..."I didn't feel any burning or anything that time. Can we just not charge it ever again?"

"I promise nothing! Now let's finish that last virus!" Now, what screamed paintbrush doom? Hmm...ah, sharp, pointed needles oughta do the trick. And so, a chip that performed just such a function was inserted. "Battlechip, DoubleNeedle! Slot in!"

An almost bow-like gun formed over the Navi's hand, who pointed it towards the untargeted BrushMan. Now, he had to be careful, since two needles meant he had two chances to mess up. But after doing some aiming, he let a pair of harpoon-like needles loose from the gun in quick succession. And that, hopefully, was that. And if not, well...he was ready to try and avoid anything. Not that he thought he had to worry about avoiding much, but it was good to be prepared.

(OOC: Since holy panels' damage halving don't apply if they're hit by a panel smashing attack like Magnum, shouldn't that BrushMan be deleted, and therefore the battle would be over?)
(Meh, for various reasons, instead of bumping again, I'm just gonna go ahead as is, with the BrushMan still alive.)

...What the? The BrushMan took that Magnum? He knew it made a holy panel beforehand, but that wasn't supposed to matter with chips that broke panels. Or at least that's what he thought was supposed to happen. "Hey! How didn't that delete it?!"

Sabrina was confused too, and unlike her Navi, looked like it. Though having a face went a long way in that regard. "...Beats me, but it's there. All right, here's the plan. First, you're going to get healed up. And then, you're going to blast that thing with WideShot into teeny tiny particles that form part of the reward data. And after that, we're going to laugh evilly at it for thinking it could survive us!"

"Uh, I'm all for the healing and the blasting, but is the laughing really necessary? I mean, your dad's right next to you..."

A look to the left confirmed what everyone already knew, but needed to be seen anyway. "...Right. Just healing and blasting it is." Of course, SplashMan couldn't heal by himsef, so Sabrina grabbed her lone recovery chip and inserted it gently into her PET. "Battlechip, Recover80! Slot in!"

Despite not needing nearly that much healing power, the Aqua Navi gladly took it anyway as his bounce induced injuries seemed to just vanish with a pink glow. "I feel like a new Navi! Not that I'm all that old, but still..."

"And now, the blasting!" Three chips featuring Lark viruses were slammed less than gently into the chip insertion slot. "Battlechip, WideShot! Triple slot in!"

A wide, blue gun formed on SplashMan's hand, and he was all too happy to position it towards the lone BrushMan. After all, he risked getting burnt insides to try and beat it in one hit. Now he was going to give it all the hits it could handle. Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! One after the other, three wide blasts of water moved through the air, all desiring to hit the final virus and turn it into junk data...

(Never! (shot))

Well, it wasn't perfect, but SplashMan was pretty satisfied with how he completely smashed those viruses. He wandered over to the remaining data and accessed, noticing that it was only cash. A lot of it, but no chip. Aww. ""Just zenny this time! Sending it over!"

However, Sabrina seemed to be pre-occupied with something else. "Uh-huh...hey, Dad. You've got links to other countries' Nets, right?"

"Yeah, I do! Why?"

"Well, I've got a change in plans. SplashMan, head back to Dad's PC!"

"Huh?"

"Oh, I never told you, did I? I signed you up for a special mission with the NetPolice! You're gonna team up with a Navi called VoltMan and find a special dispatch team that's found some weird viruses! Or something like that, anyway."

"I kinda wish you would've run that by me first...oh well!" SplashMan did a 180 and raced back to the PC's warp point. He didn't bump into any viruses along the way, as the ones he deleted earlier hadn't been replaced by anything yet. And so, he found himself back where he started. Literally; this was where he was created. To one side, there were a lot of warp holes, with the locations they connected to listed above them. "So, where are we going?"

"NetFrica!" Sabrina suddenly turned around, to notice her father was shutting some programs down. "Uh...what are you doing, Dad?"

"Well, if you've got a mission, you don't want me looking over your collective shoulder. I'll analyze what I've got later." Mr. Jetto stood up, and walked out of the room. "Good luck on your mission, you two!"

"Huh...well, it's just you and me now, SplashMan! Let's go! To NetFrica's Net! Oh, and they've got some distress beacon, so you'll probably wind up near where you're supposed to be!"

"Got it! I'm on my way!" The Aqua Navi stood on the appropriately labeled point, and suddenly vanished in a beam of light, on his way to another part of the Net world.

(to NetFrica Net!)
