NP Mission: Nodical Investigation

"Alright~ Nothing like- Whoa!" Red yelped as she narrowly avoided that IceCubes the bears threw at her. Something told her they might've been taking her too lightly... or maybe she was just that good.

"Divide and Conquer is still up and running, just do it," Shin yawned, sending in two chips for Red's usage.

"Divide and Conquer is what nearly got Myun knocked out! This was a stupid plan!" Red complained, throwing a tantrum before she took out a beam saber from her picnic basket and waved it around furiously.

"Now now, don't say that~ Why don't you just unleash all that rage on those Coldbears then~?" Shin suggested helpfully, teasing Red all the while.

"Boooo~!! Your jokes get worse and worse!" Red pouted, accessing the second battlechip and warping behind one of the Coldbears. Grumbling in agitation, the red-caped wonder sweeped her blade upward at the enemy before reaching her hand out at the second Coldbear.

"You're not close enough! Get over here!" Red commanded furiously, a great magnetic force taking the form of a giant hand pulsing out of the crimson crusader's arm at that instant. The hand made great efforts to drag the Coldbear toward Red, where she shot out another, more powerful pulse, trying to send electrical currents throughout the virus' body.

In another instant, the maiden of nature sliced her Elecsword upward at the ColdBear, before turning around and throwing the sword right at the MetalCragger.

Myun took this opportunity to coax her wounds to heal faster before sliding toward the MetalCragger. The boxing bunny rolled to the side of the beast for safety measures before unleashing a full assault of a one-two punch before sending a mighty uppercut at the virus.

Red took this time to set up a Candle by throwing a glass of wax on the ground, causing a pillar of the material to rise up and light its wick on fire, causing a soothing smell to pass among her allies. She decided to hide behind this Candle for the time being.

"Hide and seek~ Except I tagged them all~" Red giggled to herself confidently.

"What a bother," Shin sighed, scratching his head in irritation.

A teleportation trick or two and a swipe of her sword, and Red had already sliced through one ColdBear. The other ColdBear was wiped out with a decisive MagBolt, and that was the end of them. The Cragger was smashed to bits by Myun, and it couldn't even do anything besides flail around in helpless confusion. All of the defeated viruses were teleported out, and Maverick announced her result.

"Virus team defeated, victor Red."

The red-clad Navigator approached Red, and flicked her fingers. The Titan she had defeated earlier (or, more accurately, Myun did) handed her a small packet of data, which contained its signature ball-and-chain toss attack, along with an amount of zenny. Maverick only served to watch, and clapped politely, perhaps almost mockingly, if one could see beyond her stoic expression just then. She then spoke, but with a very strange polite tone that Red hadn't heard from her before. "Seems you've beaten quite a few viruses. I'm rather surprised at your... achievement. However, I am not ready to let you go just yet," she said, a small grin appearing on her face.

"I will heal you up... and your... pet, and you will pick another team to defeat. Should you beat that one successfully, I'll think about it some more," she continued. She was clearly enjoying this.

"Awww~ Thanks~" Red giggled, scratching the back of her head sheepishly as the Titan handed her some new data. She sent it up gleefully to Shin, who whistled at the load.

"Not bad..." Shin mused, scratching his chin. It seemed that Maverick wasn't done though. The self-proclaimed ace smirked, if she wanted a challenge....

"Take up the next rank... if you want," Shin suggested, almost as amused as Maverick for the moment.

"Alrighty! I'm going to make big sis proud!" Red proclaimed, pumping her fist up confidently as she reviewed her options, humming cheerfully as she pointed to the selection two lines down from her previous one. "Hi Hi! I'm taking on the Elite Team! Let's do this!" Red announced playfully, waving at Maverick in cheer.

Myun shrugged and looked at Maverick with... no real emotion.

"Elite... Team."

Maverick looked at Red and Myun with a questioning look... and laughed. "Got some bravado there, don't we, kid!" she said, holding herself to contain her mirth. Then, as she tried to stop herself, a black Spooky floated up to her side, and gurgled something in its stuttered voice that sounded like a question. Maverick was too busy exploding, so she nodded as she could. The Spooky then nodded gravely in return, and turned towards the two. It disappeared with a poof, then suddenly appeared everywhere at once around Myun. Licking her wounds (literally) with surprising efficiency, the Spooky had Myun back up to full health in no time.

It then bowed to both of them, and poofed off. By then, Maverick had wiped off the last tears of her laughter, and was regaining her composure. "Okay, okay, serious time," she said, standing back up to full height. Patting her clothes back down, which had gone rumpled slightly, she stood akimbo, and roared out a command in virus-speak. A few calls immediately responded to her command, and Maverick grinned.

A couple of viruses stomped out of the group, which made way for the two. A hulking Bladia in its Version 3 form led the way, with a smaller Void lumbering with its gooey body behind it. Floating above the Void were some little N.O-2. The N.O. floated into place behind the Void, just as Maverick lifted her hand. A pillar of white light appeared beneath the N.O, revealing a small grey planet-like virus. The N.O. then flew high above the planet-virus, while the Void moved in front of it to protect it. The Bladia lumbered at the very front, and held its massive stone-blade high. Cocking its head high, it roared a fearsome battlecry.

A Rush's head popped up in the middle of the field, and squawked something as it initiated a PanelReturn change, reverting all previous changes Red had made earlier.

"Oh boy.... oboioboioboioboioboioboyyyyyyy I'm soooo dead," Red gaped, feeling the urge to regurgitate whatever she had eaten that day. Just the mere presence of these guys gave Red the feeling she could be absolutely crushed if she made the wrong move.

So first things were first, she had to strike fast and hard. That weird virus in the back looked like it would be a nuisance. She'd take it out first, with those N.O. viruses as well. It was kind of a shame since they were so cute though.

"Everything. Here. Is. Deadly." Shin emphasized as he read through the script Red had connected to the PeT display in order to track her thought process. It was much faster that way anyway. It's not like that legendary Full Synchro would show up between them at this point. Shin only believed something like that to be an exaggeration of the bond between Navigator and Operator.

That Bladia was closing in fast though. Shin quickly sent in the two chips that would most likely take care of the back group in a flash. "I'll let you move freely."

"No..." Red whispered back, eyes shining bright and her cape gleaming and hardening, "We move as one! Can you keep up~?" the crimson crusader smirked, giggling playfully as she teased her operator. Myun bumped her fists together, ready for action.

"Ha! An Ace is made for the great task of overcoming the impossible!" Shin remarked back, grinning ridiculously as he adjusted his shades.

"To overcome fear... one must smile... in the face of dire circumstances," Myun mumbled, dashing around the Bladia as Red snapped her fingers, summoning a giant top hat that covered her body entirely.

"There are no tricks... No surprises..." Red whispered, floating above and behind the BiggerBang's position, hefting a heavy bowling ball overhead before slamming it at the planet-like virus, dissipating the bowling ball completely before swiftly pulling out a laser-edged sword from her picnic basket.

"Fall already!" Shin and Red called in unison as the fairy-tale fighter locked onto the three viruses in the back vicinity, assaulting all of them with a flurry of swipes from her elecsword, channeling the gravitational force of the BiggerBang into her attacks, especially for her slashes toward the N.O. viruses, before landing on the ground, letting out a slow breath before opening her eyes wide as chocolate exploded in a powerful, forceful wave from out of her body, encroaching the field with the sticky substance. The aftereffects generated an eerie protective field around Red's body as she grinned at the viruses.

Myun, in the meanwhile, had made her way behind the Bladia while Red warped toward the back group. Not caring much for herself, the boxing bunny unleashed a flurry of punches upon the Dark Virus, assaulting every opening from the virus she could find and attacking with every upper limb she had to mark the virus for devastation. It was all-or-nothing at this point. The battle had just begun, but they could not afford to miss an opportunity to attack.

Both units' restorative processes geared up in the meanwhile. Shin clenched his teeth while he watched the battle go on, chips at the ready for the next wave.

Realizing the strength of the enemy team sent Red and the team into full-alert mode, without taking any chances. The Void started off by creating two whirlpools on the field directly behind Red and Myun, after which it immediately teleported to Red's position, and tried to shove her into it, moving back to its original position afterwards. Unfortunately, Red had already teleported to the planetary virus behind it, and thrown a powerful... bowling-ball, at the virus. The N.O. responded by firing twin beams of death at her as they revolved around the BiggerBang, dealing her massive amounts of damage and bypassing her cape armor! (60) (60) Fortunately, before they could deal another dose of death, Red had already sliced them in two, after which Maverick teleported them out. The BiggerBang was about to hit her with some weird debris or other but by then Red had exploded into some kind of gigantic chocolate outburst and pushed it back far enough that it wasn't much of a consequence.

Meanwhile, Myun was squaring off with the Bladia with nothing but her fists, attempting to beat down the gigantic stoneblade wielder. The Bladia raised its sword to block, but Myun's fists struck true and through, smashing through the blade to deal damage! Thus, it switched to an aggressive stance, and threw down its blade at Myun. Unfortunately, Myun was far too agile, and it didn't hit. Realizing this, it then reverted to defense, and dodged a fair bit of Myun's attacks, with the bunny only doing minor damage by the end of it.

Red breathed a sigh of relief as she and Myun had been able to avoid whatever this whirlpool thing was doing. The BiggerBang was still up and those N.O. viruses did quite a bit of damage to her so....

"Let's take it down before this gets messy!" Red suggested, winking and snapping her fingers. She felt a little fatigued from the exertion she used to blow out her last signature process though. Luckily her body was already accessing the sugar deposits in her body to patch up the wounds she had gotten from the N.O. viruses.

"Alright, Myun will keep holding off the Bladia for the moment, so deal with the Void after this one," Shin suggested, already sending in an array of chips through the PeT.

"Gotcha~! Watch me big sis! This is the finishing move of a champion~!" Red called out eagerly, snapping her fingers while winking as a Kilby virus appeared and lurked around the battlefield before suddenly lunging at the BiggerBang, thrusting at it maliciously with a myriad amount of Bamboo Spears before retracting them and fading into the darkness.

"That should do it... and now..." Red mumbled, as Myun decided to quickly move around the Bladia to it's backside. "We'll deal with you~" the crimson crusader giggled, warping besides the Void virus, arm crackling with electricity as she relied on the magnetic force of the chip to keep the virus from running.

"Goodnight~" Red giggled, before forcefully punching at the Void virus with her Magbolt, slicing right through the air as she discharged massive amounts of electricity into the whirlpool virus, if the attack connected anyway.

"...this one's useful~" Red hummed, whipping out a jar of wax from her picnic basket and sending it over the way of the chocolate infested area. The jar shattered, and the wax formed into a towering Candle, who's wick lighted with a refreshing green flame that soothed Red and her allies.

Meanwhile, Myun began another full assault on the Bladia, keeping low and sending punch after punch at the Dark Virus, the momentum of blows leading into an eventual headbutt, and then the common slaps with her ears. Myun decided it was a good idea to keep close to the Bladia so it couldn't really reach out its sword too much. On a slam, she would roll to the side, but otherwise she would keep close and circle the Dark Virus.

"TOH!" Red yelled, delivering at flying kick at the Bladia, empowered by her AquaDragon chip, and splashing water everywhere. Kicking off and twirling backwards, the fairy-tale fighter landed on the ground with a huge impact, kicking up a hill and spreading Grass around the area, while a tree stood between her and the Dark Virus.

"Hehehe~ You can't handle the truth~!" Red called out randomly, pointing mockingly at the Bladia as her cape gleamed and the barrier around her shifted properties.

Myun's healing processes were at the ready, just in case.

Patching up more of the damage she had taken earlier (+30) Red attacked the BiggerBang with a Kilby from behind. However, the Kilby got swept up by the BiggerBang's gravitational orbit effect, and the attack missed! The Void teleported up to her face, creating a whirlpool behind her that it attempted to push her into! Instead, however, Red moved to its side, and thrust an electrified punch at the watery virus! Luckily (or unluckily, depending on your perspective) it managed to leap out of the way just in time before it got shocked to death.

Meanwhile, Myun was still dealing with the Bladia's advances. Her first punch missed, as the Bladia swung around and slammed its gigantic blade into her, dealing massive damage! (90) Her data integrity was sapped through the blade, healing the massive knight for quite a bit. (+45) Unfortunately, that point was moot when Red came to crash in on its party, dealing heavy damage to it by way of an AquaDragon attack! Myun followed that up with two decisive blows before it could react, causing it to fall to the might of the fist. It didn't go down without a fight, however, as it threw a DarkSword at Red just before it fell, slicing up the tree she had just put up along with her barrier. It also erupted into a poisonous cloud of miasma, infecting Myun with its deadly touch. (10)

Meanwhile, the BiggerBang decided to do something other than be useless, and threw some debris at Red and Myun. Red absorbed the attack with her cape, while Myun leapt out of the way. The Candle that Red put up began its restorative effects, healing Red and Myun for a bit. (+30) (+10) Myun also patched up some of her wounds. (+30)

"Well that end was pretty nasty. Ick," Red grimaced, disgusted at how the Bladia exploded into poison everywhere and hurt her poor bunny. Her cape gleamed as it took on the remains of her enemies from many battles past, hardening into an armor to protect its wearer.

"Well, the Candle should provide some support to counteract Myun's status condition. I'll redirect your passive regenerative processes to her as well," Shin advised, transferring the healing subroutine that gathered energy from Red's sugar deposits toward Myun through the PeT connection.

"Teeheehee~ Thanks Shin," Red giggled, licking her lips as Myun's own processes healed her up.

There were only two left. Unfortunately, one of them was that odd planet thing she still haven't managed to defeat. It was really getting on her nerves.

"Shin..." Red began, glaring at the planet-like foe, but her operator held a hand up to stop her.

"As it stands, the biggest threat is the Void virus. I can't believe the close distance and magnetic pull would be so easily bypassed, but we'll have to make do. Try finishing it in one shot! There's no better chance than now!" Shin commanded, sending in a salvo of chips to deal with the matter.

"Ooooooh! Fine! I'll get rid of it first! Myun take care of that other one for me!" Red pouted, stomping the ground in agitation. Myun nodded in reply as it set off toward the BiggerBang with quick, boxing steps. It seemed she'd have to exert herself a bit more though.

"Hmph!"

With a turn of her cape, the fairy-tale fighter was at the side of the whirlpool creator once again, electricity crackling in hand as she narrowed her eyes at the virus.

"You won't escape this time! HAH!" Red announced determinedly as she unleashed a powerful bolt of electricity, that had felled many viruses in her past runs in one go, at the Void. The distance was close and the lightning splashed all over, but what could the result be?

With no time to waste, cherry blossom petals from an unknown origin gathered around the crimson crusader's figure as gusts of wind swelled around the battlefield.

"And take some of this!" Red growled, reaching her hand out at the Void virus as the petals and gusts converged on the red-caped wonder's hand. "Hrmph!" With a shout, the elements combined into a spiraling blast of power that headed straight for the Void virus. If they were lucky, it'd end up in its own whirlpool.

"And for the grand..." Red called out, jumping into the air as she pulled a giant Yo-Yo out of her picnic basket, doing an around-the-world before launching it at the Void virus. "Finale!" Blades shot out of the core and spun like a buzzsaw as they approached the virus, cutting at something, before returning to Red.

While all of this was going on. Myun had finally reached, or so she thought, the final destination planet, er- virus. Yeah. In any case, the boxing bunny jumped up and unleashed a flurry of punches at the planet-like virus, making each one count toward the team's complete and total victory.

As Red landed, she accessed the last two chips in the repertoire that Shin had downloaded for her earlier. Smiling, she turned her head toward the sky and smiled at her operator, giving him a thumbs up. Shin returned the gesture in kind.

"Go for it!"

"Alrighty!"

With no time to waste, Red hurled both of her boomerangs at the BiggerBang virus, each spinning parallel to each other as they approached the final virus.

"GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" Shin, Red, and Myun called as the Boomerangs passed each other...

What could the result be?

Aiming to defeat the Void in one fell swoop, Red teleported over to the Void, and shocked it into submission, with Maverick teleporting it out. The BiggerBang was similarly smashed to bits-- well, nearly, before also being transported out of harm's way.

"Virus team defeated, victor Red."

The announcement was stoic, and a small fingersnap broke the dead silence that pervaded after. The defeated Bladia earlier shuffled through the crowd, carrying its massive blade. Floating up to Red, it stabbed the stone sword into the ground before her, and retreated, bowing as it did so. Maverick herself looked expressionless, as she sized up Red. "Not bad. You'd make a nice addition to the team, I'd wager," she said, as a wry smile appeared on her face.

"Oh well, can't have everything, now can I. You're free to go. Jackout barrier's removed. Old man had it out a while ago," she said, waving about her hand in dismissal. "You can report whatever to your higher-ups, but I doubt they'd leave a place like this alone. Just try to consider that."

After that, she turned to the mass gathering of viruses before her, and clapped her hands twice. She then roared out a command in virus-chatter, to which all of the viruses responded with a chant in unison. They then dispersed towards the town. She stood, watching the squads leave one by one, and turned towards Red. "Again, I would like to have you for our little team. It's not all that much, but if you'd like to do something about it, I'll be in Netopia."

"Yahoo!" Red cheered, giving her support unit a hi-five. They both turned and bowed to Maverick. "Thank you very much for the match!"

When the Bladia entrusted its sword to her, Red gasped. "Wow! This looks great! Thank you very much!" The Bladia nodded and turned away. "I know a guy who's really great with these things! Maybe I can get him to teach you the next time we meet!"

When they were about to part, Red frowned a bit, but there was already enough information to report at any rate. Red curtsied and giggled as she waved goodbye to Maverick, her farewell a bit solemn.

"Awww~ I might consider it, big sis! But for now, farewell!" And with that, the navi disappeared.

"...Hmph... now, how shall I write this...?" Shin mused, accessing the NetPolice board.
