Megami launched a pulsing wave at BarricadeB. The barricade buckled under the explosion of sound, which heavily damaged its turret, but missed effecting the Shrubby. The two cannons launched their counterattack, the large bullets leaving their muzzles just as a Shotgun blast slammed into the heavily damaged turret, busting through it to strike the other one solidly. Both cannon shots hit the non-dodging Megami squarely and deplete the rest of her health. Thankfully she is not ejected from the battle due to her Undershirt, remaining in poor shape.
Her Zapring1 flies from her bloodied hands and strikes the last CannonDumb EX into deletion as Warrior loads a shield chip and runs to cover. Megami also covers her weakened body by her own shield chip.
The Shrubbies appear from the rubble-strewn barricades to throw logs at the two Navis, before hiding again. Two logs struck Megami while three struck the barricade that Warrior hiding against (lucky Navi!). The first log that struck Megami reflected the damage back to the Shrubby, damaging its barricade also [BarricadeB]. The second smashed into her and caused her to activate her emergency Jack-Out.
Now Warrior was all alone vs. five Shrubbys.

[Note: I am soo sorry. The RNG had it out for Megami today. This is my first instance of EJO as a Mod. You do not lose anything for the EJO this time. You will be able to return after this battle at full health if you want, or move on to another location. Megami will not earn any rewards for this battle though. Warrior will still gain his share if he wins.
Also Undershirts continue to function when you have 2 or more HP, for as long as you keep remaining in the 2 or more HP range. So make sure to heal regularly to keep having uses of Undershirt.]

"Megami!"
"[sub]Rgh![/sub]"
Jake swore at himself under his breathe. That was a bad call... This situation just got real.
"Jake! What the hell?! There's your tacti-- Focus! Warrior!"
"..."
Warrior growled lowly. He needed to work with Jake to make it through this now; unfortunately he was the only ally he had left. But he would be sure to let his Net Op hear it when they were done for his "tactical" command that Warrior foolishly obeyed.
"Xenkun, are you still there? Is Megami okay? Did she jack out in time?"
There was no time to wait for a response... the situation was getting more dangerous by the minute. Jake almost went into making his apology, but he wasn't certain that Xenneth could even hear him right now. For all he knew, he was just talking to the air.
"Warrior... let's fall back."
"No."
"Warrior, fall back!"
"No."
"..."
For just being a bunch of 0's and 1's, he sure was stubborn. Wasn't Warrior just a complex computer file? How did he even have the power to 'disobey'? When a computer is given a command, it is executed. When a program is given a function, it is carried out without decision or delay. But this artificial intelligence could actually refuse a command... how was that possible? It would have boggled Jake's mind if he thought about it, but more pressing matters were at hand that demanded his attention.
"They just shot down Megami, and thanks to your tactical decision, I just sat back and watched. There's nothing to say that the outcome would have been any different if I'd interfered, but it would have damn well cleared my conscience! And there's nothing I can do to change what just happened, but I can do something now to determine what's going to happen!"
"..."
"These things are gonna pay for what they did. If it kills me, they'll face retribution by my blade. I won't run away and give them the satisfaction of success; I won't retreat and entitle them victor over us. I don't care where the advantage lies, and I don't care if you back me up or not. I'll fight alone if that's what it takes, but rest assured, they'll get what they deserve."
"[sub]Dammit, Warrior.[/sub]"
Despite their disagreement, he couldn't abandon his navi. Jake had already seen this battle as a loss, but if he couldn't stop Warrior from continuing the fight then he had to give him his support -- it was the only chance the navi had, if any at all.
Warrior's shield had fully formed on his arm as he leaped over the Barricade to reach the Shrubby behind it. As if complimenting its name, the Aqua Knife led Warrior's arm like a wave of water -- gracefully it swam through the air, but it brought the force of a tsunami behind it as it plunged toward the virus before him.
And like a wave, the arm carrying the blade receded, coming back for a second slash with the same finesse and power as the initial cut. There was no time to second guess himself; there was only the next target, and nothing else. If both strikes failed to eliminate the shrubby, then a blind sided attack awaited him as he dove toward the next barricade in his path to use as cover. He was careful not to trip over any of the logs that were left lying around in his path.
His shield was still intact, held closely to his body for any attack that managed to overcome his environmental protection. If he could assassinate each target one at a time while using the terrain to his favor, then there was a chance he could come out of this alive.
Despite the anger rushing through his mind, Warrior knew he had to move carefully. This was a situation that recklessness and blind rage would not benefit him. At this point, he was forced to play 'tactical', as Jake would have called it. The odds were too highly stacked against him now.

"Don't worry about it!" Xenneth cried out suddenly, "J-just...go!"
Leave or fight? It was not known what Xenneth meant at that time.
However, he was not giving clarification. After all, his only friend, not to mention his newest, had seemed to be in danger and he could care less about what the Net Operator and his careless NetNavi was doing at the time. Megami had reappeared upon the screen of the P.E.T, floating and suspended in space. His hands worked as quickly as ever as his left had gone opening up the page of his "NetNavi Basics" study book and going through his P.E.T's recovery manual for another. He never saw Megami taken so much damage before, but it was all because of his carelessness.
He was becoming a hypocrite!
Because of some careless calls and Megami's nature, she had been tossed head first into the critical threshold of life and death. Her body floating atop of an array seeming like an ordinary grid as square like pixels poured from a should, a leg, an ankle and below her chest. Xenneth, sighing in relief, held his head over the book as he prayed to some digital God!
"Good," he said lowly, "Her core is still intact and her frame is not too badly damaged. I can do this!"
He said this with some great courage and some shaky fear shown in his finger tip's movements. Whether he could or not, Xenneth started to put all his efforts into repairing Megami.

Warrior equipped his shield and leapt over the barricade... and down onto the frightened Shrubby virus. He plunged his dagger deep into the foliage, drawing a bubbling of silver blood. It only took one strike. Warrior had enough durability in his knife for the rest of them. So with the virus deleted, Warrior rushed over to the next barricade in the line to start again. His revenge for his partner coming along swimmingly.
However, the Shrubbys would not go without a fight. They threw logs at him as he moved. But Warrior leapt and dodged and rolled and juked, and nothing hit him. Two of them struck BarricadeE where Warrior moved away from, and the other two struck BarricadeD where Warrior was now.

One down, four to go. The brunt of the task was still ahead of him, but progress was being made and that was all that mattered.
"Alright, War, not bad. Try doing that again on the next virus."
"I don't know... I mean, they're not rocket scientists, but I'm sure they're not dumb enough to fall victim to the same thing twice."
Well, he had a point. And quite frankly, Jake wasn't willing to take the chance of finding out whether Warrior's statement held true or not. There was too much on the line right now.
"We'll have to part with that sword for a while then. Quake1, incoming."
"Roger. We have a back up anyway."
The AquaKnife dispersed into blue pixels, but before those blue pixels vanished, they swirled around his hand and reunited to form a ball-like object. Aiming for the farthest Shrubby from him, and taking the distance and height of the throw into account, Warrior hurled the ball across the battlefield without breaking his cover from behind the barricade.
Mid-flight, the ball change its shape to take on the form of a Powie virus before falling straight down out of its regular trajectory. The shadow of the anvil was cast upon its impending destination only moments before crashing down below. Warrior heard the deafening collision of the metal and the ground - it had rocked the area with its force - but the point of impact was too far away for him to see whether or not his target was as crushed as he wanted it to be right now.
"Prep up some defense, Warrior. Hide and seek is over - we might be able to take them all out if we approach them from a different angle rather than weaving through their barricades. Prepare for the worst, but hope for the best."
"..."
Warrior's silent confirmation was affirmed by the glowing barrier that encompassed him seconds later. But he wasn't quite ready to just jump out into the open... he'd have to catch the enemy offguard. If he waited for them to step out and attack, he'd have his chance to strike, but until that opportunity arose, he remained behind the barricade and prepared to evade whatever came next.

Warrior dispelled his knife and summoned a Powie. Then he hurled it waaay over to the other side of the battlefield, to the last barricade in the list. It sailed high above the enemy, then quickly transformed into a huge weight, and came crashing down upon the virus. The Shrubby was crushed under the weight of the virus and the massive THUD cracked the pavement beneath the barricade, which wobbled a little under the impact.
The Shrubbys from Barricades B and D, noticing their precarious position, broke cover and ran over to BarricadeC. They threw logs at Warrior as they retreated to cluster behind BarricadeC. Warrior put up a barrier and set himself in a defensive position as the logs rolled towards him. One managed to strike him as the other two rolled passed, but his barrier protected him from taking damage.

"Now's your chance, War! They're all huddled together! RollingLog1! Battle Chip, In!"
"Right!"
Was his attrition finally going to pay off? Would his perseverance soon be rewarded?
As the Chip Data was installed and began to find its way to Warrior, he leap-frogged over the Barricade he was hiding behind and closed in on the next one immediately. When the RollingLog had began to materialize above him, he jumped atop the barricade that the group of Shrubbies was hiding behind, planning to catch them by surprise before they'd have the chance to scatter.
"Checkmate!"
*CRUNCH!*
The log sounded like it had done more damage to itself than anything else as Warrior briskly threw it down toward the left side of the group the moment it had fully materialized. Without missing a beat, Jake reactivated the RollingLog Chip to send a second log to Warrior that he threw toward the right side of the trio.
*CRUNCH!*
The tree-trunk-sized object made the same sickening sound as it made contact with the ground, but it continued to roll forward to its destination and, hopefully, over the top of the viruses that used similar methods of attacking.
If all had gone well, he had just turned a "sure loss" into a victory in Jake's mind. But if the swift, cowardly viruses had a better reaction time that he'd predicted, then hopefully standing on top of the barricade would keep Warrior out of range of their ground-rolling logs.

Quote (The Remnant)
"Checkmate!"Thud, thud, thud. Logs rolled down upon the Shrubbys, squashing them like grapes.
Warrior stood triumphantly upon one of the undamaged barricades as he surveyed the ruined battlefield. Cracked and broken barricades, blasted and cratered concrete, a metric ton of scrap metal spread over a hundred meters, logs strewn among the rubble, and the shattered bodies of a dozen viruses lay beneath the Navi's feet. It was an epic battle.
But at what cost?
Megami was not around to celebrate, having become one of the conflict's victims. Hopefully she was fine elsewhere. Meanwhile, there were some rewards to gather.

"You... won."
But how? He was faced with certain defeat - Jake had thought of every possible outcome, but none of them included Warrior surviving. Yet here he was... standing there unharmed.
Physically unharmed, at least.
"Yeah..."
Well, the viruses got what they deserved, but that didn't change the fact that Megami was still gone. Warrior's barrier and shield disappeared as he stepped off of the pedestal amongst the chaotic aftermath of the event. His mind raced with questions, analyzing what he could have done differently that would have saved Megami, but it all boiled down to the simple fact that he was powerless in that moment that it happened. Be it physically or mentally, he lacked the sufficient strength in whatever department it needed to be in to have altered what fate decided to happen.
So he'd get stronger.
"You still there, Xenkun?"
Xenneth had answered Jake before. If he was still out there, Warrior was eager to find out whether or not Megami was okay.

"MEGAMI.EXE LOGGING-IN!"
The computer answered in place of Xenneth, but no sooner than the large bold words pixelated to reveal the NetNavi's body that a video screen behind the female form of Megami shown the violet haired boy. The display was in a definition so high, the bead of sweat could be seen clearly running upon his violet strain of tie-dye hair from when he ran to the store in ACDC to purchase the necessary components he needed. His head nodded once as he gathered his breath between pants of his breath and simply said, "Yes."
There was a silence for that moment however as Xenneth looked to Megami who was now logged in and looking her body over. There was not alterations to clothing, her body seemed still composed in its same curves, and details, but she acted as if there was something new about her.
"Xen-kun," Megami said with a raise of a brow, "My body feels different somehow. Perhaps I have not fully recovered from that last battle."
Xenneth had tilted his head slightly, the usual, for when he himself was confused. "Oh, I used some sort of upgrade along with the process upgrades when you were logged out. I'm not sure how you should feel, but...can you battle?"
Megami looked to Xenneth behind her on the screen and then placed an eye on Warrior. To him, she had shot a gentle smile before searching for his Net Operator on screen. With a nod of her head, she had looked back to the violet haired boy with her hands together as if about to speak a solemn prayer.
"I feel I can go on, and perhaps Warrior-san may even be able to help if worse comes to worse." she said as she looked back to Warrior, "Right, Warrior-san?"
Megami asked, awaiting an answer from the NetNavi.

"Megami! You're okay!"
Jake sighed in relief as Warrior ran over to Megami. He'd have hugged her if it weren't so out of his character, but instead he grasped her hand and placed something inside of it. She did the bigger half of the work, after all.
"I feel I can go on, and perhaps Warrior-san may even be able to help if worse comes to worse. Right, Warrior-san?"
"Ofcourse!"
Jake was glad to see everything was still okay. The cost for that last victory wasn't as steep as he first thought (though steep nonetheless). A display screen popped open next to Warrior's head with Jake's face on it - his smile wasn't as wide as Warrior's, but a smile was a smile.
"Glad to see you back on your feet, Megami."
He still felt kind of guilty for making Warrior stand down while Megami was under fire... but luckily the consequences, although severe, weren't as severe as they could have been. He'd at least learned from the mistake, though.
"Sorry for what happened earlier... I made a bad call. But we'll have your back next time - I promise."
For what it was worth, at least. Jake's eyes continued scrolling through the 9 Chips in his hand. The viruses were becoming much stronger than before, and Warrior was still past due for some updates. With just the two of them, Jake and Warrior wouldn't be able to go any further from here. But it wasn't just the two of them - they had Megami and Xenneth by their side. Things didn't seem like they were too much to handle as long as they had their new friends beside them.

[Note: Be aware that you can purchase upgrades during Busting runs. Every post made in a shop is a Turn in or out of battle where the Operator cannot give Battlechips/Subchips to their NetNavi. You do not need to log out in order to give the upgrades to the NetNavi, however, the upgrades do not take effect until after the current battle (or before the next battle if you are not currently in battle). Sometimes, going to shop while in a Net will cause a battle to happen automatically.]

"I don't want this..."
Xenneth frowned looking at the Zenny coin display appear on his P.E.T. indicating he had incoming funds. As the coin spun twice, it had not gotten the chance for a third time because as quickly as it came, it had gone. Xenneth was at first confused until he looked towards the display of the virtual network and seen Megami pressing her hand back towards Warrior with a confident smile.
[Megami gave Warrior back 360 Zenny]
"Thank you very much, Warrior-san, but this is yours to keep." Megami said, "You worked very hard against those viruses, even if I was not here to see it. This will help you get stronger! Me and Xen-kun will do just fine and acquire our own funds. Besides..."
Megami had closed her eyes and smiled sweetly as she relaxed herself for a moment. By the time she opened her eyes, she had a more serious and brooding expression. "We will not be caught off guard like that gain." Megami's voice changing from sweet to displeased.
"She's right." Xenneth added seeing Megami's expression, "We won't be beaten again...uh...that easily?"
It was not the first time Xennth seen Megami make that face. Many times over, she had shown a great display of a deep dark attitude when it came to two things: feeling weak in the presence of Xenneth or seeing others pick on the violet haired boy. He was her pride after all, as she had feelings towards him that he could not comprehend, let alone not even have the slightest clue about.
Saying this, Megami had gracefully walked past Warrior, her sandals tapping against the virtual terrain and sounding off like solid heels against the virtual floor.

Not disappointed by her reaction, Warrior grinned as Megami walked by. Her integrity was an amazing thing.
No words were necessary at this point. He turned around and followed her to where she had gone off to.

The duo leave through the ruined battlefield and move past the outskirts of the town. They follow the road out of town and onto a scenic path between two rows of trees. Unfortunately their path is blocked by more trees, swaying in the middle of the road. Wait... those aren't trees. Those are Cacty! And they were larger than the ones they had fought many hours ago. They were all lined up across the road, left to right, like another barricade.
The sounds of rustling leaves come from both sides of the road, it was an ambush!

"Megami-chan, be-"
"Careful?" Megami interrupted, "Yes."
*FWOOSH!!!*
There was an explosion at the opening of the arched path where Megami and Warrior had halted their stroll. A burst of aura erupted from Megami's body and radiated outward like a bomb had exploded from within her core. Her feathery light clothing had raised as if a strong gale wind was carrying them away, and with one spin on her heel and her right hand opening, a turbulent after shock of the same force flew into Warrior's direction as the stream of bright essence swept over his body and coveted him, but it seemed to remain in place even after it had begun to subside. It would probably have taken him forever and a day for him to figure out what happened in that small instance to Megami and himself, but it should have become clear when he went into battle.
"Was that...aura?"
Xenneth was a bit astonished to see the display. Well...a bit was downsizing it; he was more than over the top surprised since Megami had never generated that much aura in an instance, and then some. She had seemed to not only explode outward with a burst of aura, but concentrated enough of it to covet Warrior as well. She had even wasted no time as before Xenneth could barely fathom what happened all in that instance, the female NetNavi was on the move carefully to dodge incoming attacks as she zigzagged across the field, changing her full-speed dash as she made a sudden roll to stop.
"Those Cacti viruses can be a nuisance, yes?"
"Yes," Xenneth responded as he reached his hand in his satchel and brought it back out knowing exactly what he should use, "Boomerang Three, battlechip in! Download!"
Megami went into a barrel roll and just as quick came out of it with a powerful whip of her right arm. It only took seconds for the large wooden curved structure to finish forming, and just as the last square texture of pixel formed upon the weapon, Megami had whipped it forth leaving only a blast of wind in its wake. The spinning weapon was tossed forth and Megami intended for it to be true to its course to curve and strike the multiple cactus viruses.
Quick on her toes, Megami was still able to recover from her stance after launching the weapon. Her body felt lighter than usual, as if she could fly just with a single push of her feet from the ground. Her eyes had remaining vigilant as she begun to gain her footing and ready to spring forth to dodge an incoming attack if one came, and she would do so certain that a single hair would only fall out of place in the chaos of the battle.

"Ambush! Warrior, get out of their line of fire!"
Before noticing Megami's Aura encompassing him, Warrior dove to the ground -- or rather through the ground -- and made his way to the right side of the road. He intended to get behind the viruses that were there, but he didn't plan to attack just yet. As he approached his destination, he re-emerged from the ground and prepared to take evasion action. Hopefully the trees would give him some protection.

*FWOOSH!!!*
A storm kicked up in the middle of the ambush, clothing the two Navis in swirling auras. Megami had returned like the rising phoenix from the ashes, stronger than ever. However, she was still up to her old tricks as she rushed headlong into the fray. Warrior took the opposite route and burrowed into the floor, escaping underground.
All the Shrubbys rolled their logs into the clearing, trying to hit the escaping Warrior and the foolhardy Megami. Even submerged, ground attacks would still be able to strike at him. Thankfully Megami gave them both barriers as three logs struck Warrior and one struck Megami. Megami managed to dodge two of the logs, as her barrier took a hit, and she got right up in the Cactys' grill.
Warrior meanwhile dug through the underground until he was up in the treeline, behind the viruses. There he re-emerged and hid behind the trees. Waiting for a chance to strike.
He watched as Megami and the Cacty both struck at each other. The Cactys tossed their heads at her, but only one of them managed to strike her, breaking her barrier. The heads rolled back onto their bodies afterwards. However, Megami also swiped a large wooden boomerang across the four of them in front of her. Her curved blade cleaved through the air, reaping the plants like a farmer with a scythe. And she cut down an amazing three out of four of the large viruses. Clearly her signature weapon was amazingly powerful.
The two Spooky took the opportunity just then to teleport to either side of Megami and began licking at her unprotected body. However, Megami was faster than before and managed to dodge one of the long tongues. Before getting slathered by the other.

Anger rose up inside of Warrior when he saw the Spooky's tongue make contact with Megami... or maybe it was just jealousy.
Regardless, he knew better than to dash out in the open right about now. His tactical repositioning was successful, so he'd be able to exploit it against the viruses that were hiding behind the other trees on his side of the road.
Without a second's notice, he broke his cover and stepped out from behind the tree -- holding what appeared to be another tree in his arms. He didn't give his opposition the time to realize that it was a Rolling Log chip before he hurled it toward them across the ground, and sure enough it would be followed up with a similar tree-esque rolling attack.
Warrior took cover again before the viruses could strike back at him. It was the same method as before: Attack - Retreat- Attack.
It seemed to be the best that he was capable of, at the moment.

"Eww!" Xenneth squinted seeing the pink tongue touch Megami. Even more, amidst all the adrenaline, it looked like it was moving in slow motion.
"Eww! Ewwww! Ewwwwwww!"
Xenneth's right hand was clinched full of battlechips snatched from his satchel. He did not care which one it was, he just knew he did not want anyone's tongue out of their mouth and striking anyone! Imagining himself in that situation, seeing Megami violated in the most indecent way possible as an attack on her physically (and for him mentally) he knew he had to react as he looked to his choices!
Sword-type chip? Chop it off! Fire-type? Burn it to a crisp!
"We'll try this one!" With the latter not sounding terrible (in a vengeful and psychotic way), he had pressed a battlechip into the P.E.T; one he had never used before, but reckon it was a good time more than any considering his enemy's unorthodox method of attack. "FireBurn! Battlechip in, download!"
Megami's body brimmed with a bright light once more as it radiated from her chest and begun to burst outward like a flame. However, with how transparent the tendrils of light was, it was not a fire, but rather more aura. It was quite surprising, and it seemed Megami's new aura ability was continuous and the moment it was snuffed out like a small flame, it seemed to rebuild itself around her body steadily. It was a saving grace more than any as Xenneth watched the aura engulf her body, almost oblivious of the small bulb of flame appearing in Megami's left palm.
A roar that was not like any beast erupted from Megami's left hand that was swung upward towards the striking ghost virus. A bright flame erupted from Megami's hand, this time an orange and red blaze solid as an explosive wave of heat, had begun to race towards the ghost and beyond as it clearly intended to continue onward towards the NetNavi the tree that on the left side of the path and hopefully would catch the virus that was unfortunately taking refuge with it. It was not Megami's intention, but it would at least give her a break for once.
Speaking of break, Megami needed to regain some ground.
She had turned her attention once more to the path in front of her. The surviving cactus virus was menacing enough, and it caused Megami to act in haste as she prepared to dodge. Her legs were bent as if she was ready to spring into action any moment in a quick spur of the moment to save herself from an incoming danger, but she knew it would not be that easy. There were viruses surrounding her everywhere (and dashing head first was probably not her best idea). However, she did not regret it as she knew her partner could (and would) come through if she drew attention to herself and kept up her new found speed in dodging the barrage; saving the trouble of having them target Warrior.
In any case, Xenneth was betting his bottom dollar that the viruses would not let up, and also supplying Megami with the means to help defend herself. "One more! Guard is downloading!" he warranted to Megami who was steadily preparing to make her mad frenzy of a defensive to hold off the attacking swarm.

"Eww! Ewwww!
