The Karate Kid, part II

((That always confused me))

(Slight retcon, Musous seen fishys, even got his fav chip from them)

The navi winced from the fire blast and tried to quickly take in the battlefield as his focus waned. The spookys were clear of him, one way or another and he was open for the fishy and the spikey now. But they were also open to him, or so he would like to think. First things first, the navi calm himself and works to regain his focus. Feel the data flowing, feel the energy coming off the viruses and the net..

Musou channels power through his body as he builds up for what he hopes is a cool finishing blow of some kind.

As if on command, Kenji slides in a shotgun battlechip for Musou. Not his first choice, but he knows what his operator is thinking, its the only ranged chip hes got that when buffed, might take out that fishy fast. He gathers energy in his fists and hurls it up at the virus with all the stored power added to it and hopes for the best.

Feeling the data course through his systems, Musou sets up for a powerful burst of energy, and shoots it towards the Fishy! ... only to have it shoot off somewhere into the distance, as the virus in question barely flies by it and gives him one heck of a tackle. (15) The Spikey's fireball went over the chasm again, only to meet the same fate as Musou's earlier energy shot. The Spooky went about and stuck its tongue out again, this time directly in his face. Ew, nasty. (10)

Kenji winced as his navi got smacked by not only the Fishy he had been trying to avoid the whole time but the Spooky as well. "Musou, you ok?", he asked. His navi held his arms up inf ront of him in an attempt to catch any more incoming attacks but the fire blast missed. He grimaced, rather banged up now, but if he could only delete something it would go a long way towards fixing him up..

Sensing his shield ready to go again, the navi pulls scattered ambient data into himself, mingles it with his own energy and releases it to manifest as a shield around him. Next, as his operator quickly slides in another chip, he raises a brow. "M-Machine gun?", he asks since he had never used it before. "Running out of options Musou. Your Meteor might burn up those tools and your DashAttack might land you in that giant hole", Kenji says. The navi frowns, he was thinking the same thing. Might as well make the best of this..

Musou builds energy up in his body then raises an open palm towards the Spiky, on the other side of the chasm. Energy begins to jump along his hand and crackle as golden tendrils of power surge through him like electricity. He yells "Eat this", as shot after shot of golden energy is sent flying, extra energy swirling and crackeling between some of the shots as they fly.

Finally, despite his dramatic show, he hopes to catch the fishy unaware and summons the shield chip he had been holding onto. Well, the Fishy or the Spooky, either was good but he hoped the Fishy would hit his shield and stop in front of him.

Putting up his energy shield again, Musou puts up the MachineGun and releases a hailstorm of golden energy shots fly across the battlefield, deleting the Spikey and Spooky as well as giving the Fishy a bit of a sore eye. It wasn't happy, and flew towards him, but its impaired vision caused it to miss and wobble about! The absorbed data from the deleted viruses flowed into him as well, healing him for a small amount. Kenji pumped his arm and grinned "You got them! Great job Musou", he exclaimed. The navi cracked a smile too, that was more like it, but now how to deal with the Fishy? He was almost out of chips and the ones he had wouldn't reach the virus. Well, it didn't know that and no reason to let on, right?

Kenji slid in Rageclaw chip and Musou held it in reserve, waiting for the Fishy to dive at him again, building energy for a stunning blow in retaliation.

As he had hoped, the Fishy dove in for retribution and in a quick lunge, Musou whipped out with a palm strike at the virus. Golden tentrils of energy coursed down his arm and hand like electricity and he held firm, hopefully to deliver the blow. Not wanting to loose any momentum, with a flash of light the fingers of his hands are replaces by wicket foot-long claws, with which he proceeds to hopefully tear the Fishy to pieces. Musou finished off the Fishy and looked around cautiously for any other threats. Deciding it's finally safe, he collects some scattered zenni in the remnants of the Fishy's data and calls for the workers. "The threat's over guys, you can come back", he says.

Kenji sighs and shakes his head "I've always wondered, Musou, why don't the viruses just leave? I mean especially if they are the last left from their group? Are they filled with so much hate they are suicidal?", he asks. The navi shrugs and says with a grin "I wouldn't think too much into it. They are viruses and the rest of the net is data. They probably think it's their entire purpose to tear everything up and one of a navi's main purposes is to stop them".
"Thank you very much," one of them said robotically, and all of them picked up their tools. The Mr. Progs then immediately went into overdrive, placing panel after panel, eventually repairing the chasm enough to make a small bridge across, which Musou could use to cross it. One of the Progs came up to him, and handed him one of the Spookys' masks, apparently in a show of thanks?

[Spooky Mask]

Musou smiles, a bit awkwardly as he accepts the mask, and says "Er, no problem, any time and thanks for this". The navi holds onto the mask, unsure what he's supossed to do with it but not wanting to be rude. He waits for them to finish the bridge and comments "Great job guys, looks nice". He waves to the Mr Progs and heads across the bridge, looking for more adventure deeper into the net.

Kenji flips through the database and says "It's unusual how many battlechips there are that are melee type but aren't actually melee. Your fire hit is one of them. Theres punches and hammers and stuff, which makes sense but. Breathing ice counts as melee.. As does summoning a big fist from the sky to smash things up". Musou grins and comments as he walks, "Well the fist from the sky is still a fist right? And it has to hit right? I'd call that melee. As for breathing ice, I dunno. Maybe it's a catchall category for anything thats point-blank range". Kenji smirks "Oh you mean like swords?", he asks. Musou rolls his eyes and replies "Ok ok short range that isn't a sword. There, better?"

The two of them continue to bicker on a bit as Musou heads onward!

[Requesting Battle 3]
With some friendly bickering between Navigator and Operator, Musou heads further into the ACDC network, in search of more elusive viruses to defeat. His travels led him to a rather large ramp, which led up to some other place. The top of the ramp held some Beetanks, which were quick to swivel their cannons in his direction, while some Swordy viruses guarded the ramp itself.

"-Swords should be melee! They totally are", could be heard as the martial-arts navi came upon the ramp laden with tanks atop and swords below. "Talk later, fight now", Kenji said to his navi. "Always ready for a fight, Sensei", Musou replied as he took a fighting stance.

"Pass me the-", Musou began but he already felt the chip data entering his mind. He grinned and added "Looks like we think the same Sensei",and lept to his foes as a pair of green wings formed on his back. With one strong flap he was off, a green blur with crackling golden energy trailing off him as he soared up the ramp and at the tanks. Hitting one or more would be nice but just closing into melee was the real goal. As he landed he was fast to catch some of the energy that trailed him along with ambient data and form it into a protective shield. Not exactly sure what would happen from here, the navi surges energy through his body as he prepares ahead.

Whizzing through the area with his DashAttack, Musou managed to hit two of the viruses, except for the original target that he had went for. He then put up some protection and powered himself up for the next bit. The Beetanks' bombs were far from accurate, however. The Swordy teleported up to his position and gave him a taste of cold purple energy, but he managed to catch the blade before it landed with his shield.

Finding things going better than Musou is used to in a fight, he dares to press his momentum onward. Kenji quickly slides in a pair of chips and as the data enters his navi's mind, the fighter's body surges with the energy he had just gathered and it crackles down and into his fists. A moment later, said fists ignite with fire as he quickly sends a flaming punch laced with energy at the Beetank closest to him. Musou spins as he crouches low and sends a backhand attack at the other Beetank, merely shadowing the movement as golden energy-laced flames sail towards the virus.

Finally, turning towards the Swordy who decided to come on up and say 'hi', a burst of flames ignites in his hand and forms into a knife. Musou spins it in his hand before catching it in a reverse-grip then lashing out at his opponent.

The Beetanks looked at Musou, and they knew that they were in for a bit of a scuffle. Countering his fiery punches with explosives, the tanks kept the fighter at bay, while Musou absorbed the blows with his shield. Meanwhile, the Swordy wasn't so lucky, and was sliced up with a FireKnife.

Musou blinked in surprise that the tanks avoided his preferred attack while the Swordy fell to the knife, but he let his mind dwell on it for but a moment. The fight was still on and the explosives potent. "Don't let them regroup Musou. Press the attack", Kenji said. His navi smirked and said "Right, like I was going to just stand and chat".

Kenji frowned but didn't say anything for the moment. Musou rose his FireKnife and slashed at the closest tank quickly, throwing half of the charge from earlier into it. He turned to the second tank and tossed the knife into the air before clenching his fists and sending out a powerful blow to the second virus, accompanied by a loud "Keyyyah!" A moment later he reaches out and catches the knife and brings it down towards the tank.

Faced with two explosive enemies prepared to attack, Musou gripped his knife tightly and made for one of the viruses. It loosed a bomb in panic, the explosive flying past Musou's head much too closely for comfort. He was already swinging though, and cleaved through the Beetank with the boosted, flaming knife. Immediately afterward, he tossed the knife into the air and struck the final virus with a stunning punch before catching the knife and driving it into the ailing virus.

As the fight winds down, Musou gives a final once-over of the battlefield to ensure he isn't missing viruses or anything else. He spots some trace zenni data and gathers it, scoring a sweet five hundred. Kenji waits quietly, calming himself as to not yell at his navi for rudeness in the heat of battle. "That was easier than I thought, heh", Musou said as he streached and gave a small yawn. A vein began to pop out on Kenji's forehead and he mumbled "Patience. Calm". Musou looked back around him, at where he assumed his operator's viewpoint was and asked "Eh? Something up Sensei?"

Kenji took a deep breath and said calmly "Musou, we've been busting together for months now. I've noticed that you have a tendancy to loose yourself in a fight, say things you shouldn't say". His navi frowned as he continued to walk on and said "Er, I'm sorry Sensei. You know I respect you as a partner, teacher and a friend". He nodded solemly and Kenji couldn't tell if he was being seirous or just mocking him, but best to give his navi the benifit of the doubt in this case "Just be mindfull of your words and actions. All of them at all times. They reflect you, me and father's dojo".

Musou grinned meekly and said "Hai Sensei", as he walked along. Kenji sighed and shook his head "You keep slipping up though, makes me wonder if we are getting discipline into that thick head of yours". His navi winces and replies "That's not fair. Nobody's perfect and I'm a born fighter, not a monk. I think I'm doing alright considering". Kenji bit his lip and considered a moment before going on "Your doing great really, I'd rather be correcting you for little slip-ups here and there then still trying to fix your whole attitude, but everyone still has room to grow and learn. If you stop or assume your done then you stagnate and die".

Musou thinks things over for a few moments then says "Thanks, Sensei. Glad to know you care". The two of them grins and for a time silence returns, untill finally Musou says "So like I was saying, swords should totally be counted as melee". And so they go on as the navi looks for adventure.

((Requesting Battle 4))
As Musou rounds the corner on a road, he noticed a small procession of viruses up ahead. A crowd of chatty Metools followed two tall Miner viruses, all of their pickaxes slung over their helmets cheerily. The path seemed to lead to a large wall, and it didn't look like there were any exits; it was a dead end. Musou saw the Miners stop the crowd of Metools right at the edge of the wall, however, and pulled out some rather large explosive devices. They immediately backed up, and detonated the explosion, creating a large hole in the wall and the ground near it. If Musou were to observe, the hole wasn't created without planning; there looked to be stairs leading downwards! Unfortunately, one of the Metools managed to spot him, and alerted its comrades, who readied themselves for battle.
