ACDC Investigation

That was disgusting.... Broadside thought shortly after being slimed by the ghost, and as he drew his weapon. Jared chimed in obnoxiously... "I think they like you just a little too much. Here's 2 more chips to dissuade such familiarity." ...while slotting in a Heatshot and a ZapRing. "Appreciated."

Broadside activated all of his scattershot chips and began blasting away... He lined up his first shot on the Metools, turned the gun sideways to take advantage of the recoil, and fired a Heatshot, hoping to knock them out of the fight quickly. Shifting his aim with the recoil, he loosed a Shotgun's spray of sub-munitions at the Spikeys... Then a second spread at another Spikey as a continuation of his fanning attack. Out of ideas and options with his current tactics, he rode the recoil in a spinning (more of a turn really) jump that landed him facing the other direction, and began running the opposite way a few feet away from his previous track...

The met is engulfed by the heatshot and the following shotgun hits not one, but two Spikeys! They spread out a bit and the next shot only finishes off one. A Spooky attacks, but this time its tongue fails to find its mark. A Spikey, though, does counter with a Heatshot.

Broadside: 55
As Broadside took a heavy hit from the Spikey, his second hit in one battle, Jared could only wince... "I'll send you the Magnum. You need it." But as Jared was about to slot in Broadside's preferred weapon, Broadside spoke up and stopped him... "Negative. I cannot use that battle chip in my current form. I'll have to make due for now." As Broadside finished his statement, he motioned to indicate that his left arm, his usual Weapon Arm, was resting in a sling. Seeing this caused Jared to reply incredulously, "Are you serious?"

Broadside replied in a tone that emphasized the reality of the situation he was trying to convey... "Affirmative. My defense protocols are also non-functional, else I would have employed them. I'm also operating under the assumption that we are being surveiled." As he spoke, Broadside fired a ZapRing at the uninjured Spikey and followed it up with a Shotgun blast meant to take them both down. Broadside spoke once more: "Send me more chips. Quickly."

Jared was totally shocked by this news... "But... You're taking too much damage. You're already close to 50% data integrity, and you're only 15 seconds into the battle. The enemy is also much faster, and much more numerous this time. If you can't use You may have to retreat, Broadside." As he spoke, he slotted in the Cannon, the Rage Claw, the Sword, and the Wind chips. When it looked as if Broadside would refuse to give up, Jared spoke softly... "That's all I have left. Good luck."

Broadside dropped his now useless rifle and activated his Sword chip, causing a sword to appear, which he quickly grasped in his right hand. Out of options, and out numbered, he took up a defensive stance and waited for his opponents' next move...

The Spikey's limbs freeze up as the energy from the Zapring courses through it. In its slowed down form, Broadside is able to drag it into the Shotgun's blast range and takes down both dogs. A Spooky pops up in front of Broadside but he cuts it down before it can let loose with its tongue.

Broadside: 55
The ghostly Spooky appeared before Broadside, causing him to react with his combat-geared reflexes, slashing the blade clear through the virus in the span of a double-heartbeat... He rode with his swing's motion, spinning around the dissipating virus, and made for the Metool, sword in hand. He constantly dodged side-to-side as he approached the target, trying to keep the Met from striking with it's Shockwave attack...

As he moved, he watched for the last Spooky, using his Fire Control Systems and Sensors to keep track of both targets... This was the first time he had used his sensory perception to a greater degree of it's full potential since his activation. I will need to remember how this works when I fight at full combat readiness in the future. He slashed at the Metool as he passed it on the left with a twist of the arm and a flick of the wrist, hoping to connect before he was assailed by the remaining phantasmal foe...

He spun around to face the direction he had just traveled... and prepared himself to fend off the Spooky...

Summary:

The met is impaled by the sword. The Spooky does the same as the last ghost and warps in front of Broadside. They both strike at the same time, the spooky dying and Broadside getting covered in saliva.

Broadside exchanged blows with the Spooky... The Spooky didn't survive the encounter. As it disintegrated, it dropped a Recover 10 chip. Broadside deactivated his sword, bent over, and picked up the chip. He then sent it to Jared, along with a pile of Zenny.

This accomplished, he moved on without a word...

Broadside arrived at the scene of what had to be a battle, and the Net Police appeared to have lost that battle. The scene shocked Jared... "24 Net Police Navis down. I this what you came to see Broadside?"

Broadside was already busy examining the slain Navis... "....Affirmative." He paused, then continued... "According to my scans, the group over here appears to have been slain by standard combat means. There are claw marks, blade strikes, and various types of ranged weapon impacts." He then scanned the line of 20 slain Navis... "These appear to have been shot with Net Police issue weaponry..." Broadside's voice trailed off as he began thinking...

Jared interrupted his thoughts. "We've got company..."

As Broadside stands there, uh.... standing, he suddenly gets a very bad feeling. A thumping can be heard... thump.... thump.... THUMP! The ground rumbles with each thump. Then it stops... A giant Bunny virus the leaps from behind a pile of rubble and stares down at the navi.... wonder what its thinking?

Battle 5 Start!
Broadside stared up at the impossibly big virus... "You've gotta be kidding me! That thing is HUGE!" Jared's incredulous shout shocked Broadside into action. There is no possibility of outrunning this creature... I have to act NOW if I am going to have any hope of surviving this encounter... With this thought, Broadside raised his good hand and slapped the Navi Symbol on his chest, causing red text to scroll across Jared's screen: Emergency Override: Engaging Combat Form Protocols[b][/b]

Broadside's form glowed, his features fading away into the general haze of light. The glowing mass then began to grow in size, easily becoming double Broadside's immediately previous height... It resolved into Broadside's original form: That of a large, HEAVY Mecha, covered in thick armor plates, and armed to the teeth.

Back in his 'natural' form, Broadside took a single step backward, moving his left side away from the the BigBunny, and decreasing his target profile. As he did so, he brought his Tower Shield around between him and the colossal rabbit, deploying the extension plates and activating the shield's barrier at maximum power, causing the surface to glow... This accomplished, he spoke to Jared: "Requesting maximum firepower in case it's hostile."

Broadside stood his ground, defensively....

Broadside sets up an impressive defense. The Bunny throws a large Zapring at it, but the metalic guard absorbs it.

Broadside: 40 (Defense:2/3)
As the giant ZapRing impacted on the shield's energy defense barrier, Broadside announced the obvious... "Target is hostile." "Sending chip data!" Jared paused to slot in a DBLBeam, 3 Shotguns, a Heatshot, and the Magnum before he continued: "He's huge. You've got my permission to hit him with anything and everything you've got."

Broadside took a moment to activate all 6 of the given chips, allocating them to various weapon systems... The Shotguns manifested themselves in a back-mounted long-barreled cannon... the weapon coming to rest on Broadside's left shoulder with an active laser-sight blinking to life. The Heatshot and Magnum were sent to the Weapon Arm, causing the enormous square-barreled cannon to deploy, but also causing a smaller cannon (one half of the Frag Shot Buster) to extend from the bottom section of the arm through a sliding panel (the other half remaining hidden)... The Hailstorm Gatling was activated as well, causing a 7-barreled gatling gun to appear from a panel in the center torso...

The DBLBeam was sent to one of the H/K Bits docked in the hangar on Broadside's back, causing it to launch for the first time, it's lethal shape immediately taking off for the heavens like a home-sick meteor... It was a remote attack platform designed to fly to a high altitude without any commands from Broadside, and attack whenever it so chose... Except this time, it would wait for the command to fire before attacking, as it was armed with Chip Data, and not it's usual weapons (which aren't currently installed). What it would do once it received that command was completely up to it... Until that time, the squared-off long-bodied chisel-shaped Hunter/Killer would remain where it was, seemingly nothing more than a tiny silver glint in the sky from ground-level.

This process, all enacted simultaineously, took a fraction of a second to accomplish...

"Weapons free. Engaging target!" With this, Broadside commenced his assault... Activating his jets and rollers, he took off, skating along the ground at a speed few immagined a Navi his size was capable of (an awesome sight, given his size)... As he moved, his torso turned to keep his weapons trained on the target, allowing him to unload everything into the target.. He cut loose with a Shotgun blast from the shoulder cannon, sending a spread of sub-munitions at his enormous foe... At the same time, the Hailstorm Gatling spun-up and started spewing 11 shot bursts towards the target with the rip-saw sound uniq to weapons of it's type... The shoulder cannon issued a second blast at the end of the gatling-burst...

It was Rabbit Season in ACDC Net...

The Shotgun hits the Bunny, causing it to flinch. It angerily attacks back, but misses the navi as he dashes around. Soon more shots come pouring in before one final blasts strikes it in the face. He jumps forward, kicking the defense Broadside put up. Seems it will hold a bit longer.

BigBunny: 189

Broadside: 40 (Defense:1/3)
As the bunny's kick connects, Broadside commands the H/K Bit to take it's shot... The remote attack unit tilts it's nose downward, kicking the back-side upwards, and selects its target... The front end of the weapon splits into four and begins charging the DBLBeam... It locks its target, tracks its movements, predicts where it will be in 2 seconds time... and fires the beam into the fray...

Meanwhile, a good thousand or more feet below the remote attack unit, Broadside is forced to move backwards by the power of the BigBunny's kick throwing off his aim. He stabilizes himself with his jets and shifts his line of travel radically, moving towards the target instead of away from it, coming in from an angle, then shifting sideways abruptly. Broadside brings his weapons to bear once again as the range closes and fires the shoulder-cannon once again, sending another deadly hail at his enormous foe... A split second later, Broadside's Weapon Arm issued a thunderous crash as he fired the Magnum at the BigBunny at close-range in an outright bid to blast the target into oblivion.

Jared watched the proceedings with intense interest, forgetting that he was supposed to be sending more chip data for a moment...

The Beam causes both parties to heal. The Bunny, feeling better, gains confidence and with a well placed Zapring, brings down Broadside's smaller defense unit. Broadside does not take this loss sitting down, zooming around the field and firing a Shotgun. He then charges up a powerful weapon, unleashes a mighty blast that causes the bunny to stuble backwards.

BigBunny: 39

Broadside: 70
The BigBunny takes hit after hit after hit, and yet stubbornly refuses to go down, prompting Jared to comment on the situation: "What is it going to take to delete this monster? You'd think this Bunny was built like a Dominerd from Netopia!" Broadside didn't reply, as he was completely focused on deleting the target...

Broadside jets around the target while it is distracted, and continues his unrelenting assault on the enormous virus... The Hailstorm Gatling spins up once again and begins to fire consecutive bursts of hyper-velocity rounds at the target. Between gatling bursts, he fires the cannon containing the Heatshot data, sending a high-speed fireball blazing towards the target. He then continues his rain of buster-shots with the Hailstorm Gatling...


Summary:

After blasting the BigBunny into dust bunnies, Broadside collected the chip data, and sent it to the PET without bothering to scan it. He activated the Recall function on his H/K Bit Controller, and recovered the remote weapons platform... This accomplished, he took a scan of the area, logged the data, and then spoke to Jared: "Mission accomplished. Requesting EVAC."

At a loss for words, Jared simply jacked Broadside out of the net...

He vanished in the same way he arrived: as a beam of light.
