Red and Binary

Binasplash hissed in pain as he collided with Beatnik, biting his tongue to keep from yelling. He slumped down on his tail as an alternative method of getting on his knees, breathing heavily.

"Binary, you alright there?" Chris asked warily.

"I told you, I've had worse. It doesn't get much worse than getting run over by a mail truck," Binasplash replied sourly. "Though, that did still sting something awful," he muttered under his breath.

"Well, you're looking pretty bad as it is. Either way, here's the battle plan. We unload on Beatnik with a couple good chips, then meep away from harm or whatever," Chris explained. He picked two choice chips from his admittedly small arsenal and flicked them into the PET.

Binasplash overlooked his new toys. There was a Wideshot, and a Boomerang - perfect, large-effect chips. "Thanks, Chris. But if I survive to [[next turn]], I'm healing," he grunted, getting off his tail and standing(?) tall.

His back was suddenly alive with tentacles again, all thrashing around wildly as Binasplash hurriedly planned out his next move. The tentacles froze in midair all of a sudden, and then rushed into position, all of them pointing at the ground directly in front of Binasplash, at about a 45 degree angle. "Target in position....WATER!" the Navi exclaimed, unleashing a high-pressure jet of water from each of his hoses. He naturally got completely drenched in the backspray, but he didn't exactly care. The fruits of his efforts were coming anyway.

Soon, he'd been shooting enough water in that one spot that he was just shooting water instead of panels. As a result, the high-pressure jets started to move the big puddle forward, carrying it on until it was quite literally flying above the ground. It's shape changed, from a shapeless blob of water to a visible wave, screaming towards Beatnik with the wrath of a small tempest.

Their jobs done, Binaspalsh dismissed the spent tentacles, letting them retreat back into the depths of his scaly back. At the same time, he turned around, and noticed a key aspect: Red was gone. In her place, the most utterly BADASS ninja he'd ever seen was engaging Beatnik in epic combat. "...Whoa," Binasplash said, allowing himself to cease fire just for a moment so he could watch Red in her Cross that had to have been made of epic win.

Chris was having similar thoughts. "Man, I'm so glad I've been recording this whole adventure. I'm wanna use that design for something, but for what?" he said to himself. "More importantly, who was the Navi that made Red turn into something this awesome?" he then asked. He then noticed that Binasplash was just sitting there, completely open. "Binary, get your head outta the clouds. As utterly sweet as that is, we've still got some work to do," he said.

"Oh yeah, right! Now, lets see, how to use the Boomerang...got it!" Binasplash exclaimed, bringing his tail around him once more. He suddenly hissed in pain as a spark came from the massive scaled appendage. "Binary, you all right?" Chris asked.

"I'm fine. I'm just...not really that used to having an element I'm weak against," Binasplash answered, making a weak thumbs-up. "Oh yeah, almost forgot!" he said. His scanners opened up in front of his eyes, making a targeting reticle appear over Beatnik. "Watering now!" Binasplash chirped, before a few hollow clanks could be heard from inside the tail. Chris waited for something big.

Suddenly, a small object was shot out of the cannon. It looked like a metal ring with a blade-like leaf attached to it, but there was no way Chris didn't know what this was.

Binasplash caught the device, and spun it slowly around on a finger by the ring. With every full revolution that he completed, another leaf appeared from behind the original. After three spins, the Crossed Navi stopped spinning and locked eyes with Beatnik; a leaf-bladed Fuuma Shuriken in his hand.

With a soft, "Alleyoop!" he did one full spin on his tail, then threw the Shuriken at Beatnik. The knife-edged leaves spun wildly around the ring, eager to cause pain to the Elec Navi. The Boomerang-Shuriken itself whirled in a wide arc around the arena, intent on hurting Beatnik and nobody else; the leaves wanted that.

"Gonna start meeping now, Binary?" Chris asked.

"I've got a better idea," Binasplash said. He started slithering upright in a random direction, then made a small troop of tentacles on his back start spraying water on the ground. Once the ground directly in front of him was as slick as he was, he dropped completely and started belly-sliding along the wet panels at startling speed. His jets continued to make the terrain good and wet for him, so he could slide along. His eyes were continuously locked on Beatnik, making sure he would know what she was doing so he could try and dodge it.

"What, no meep this time?" Chris asked.

"Meep," Binasplash said half-heartedly. "There. You happy?" he asked.

"Nope."

"I hate you sometimes."

"Deal with it."

3/4: Dodge
The wind from Red's transformation screeched down on Beatnik. The Mafioso hissed through her teeth and threw up a hand to block the spray that the wind picked up off the sea panels and threw into her face. Between her shielding fingers, Beatnik saw a caped and katana-wielding demon rushing toward her; at the last moment, Beatnik's floating armour swung around and intercepted the blast of black fire that had been en route to her face.

"Too slow!" she mocked, pulling a rude face at Red. "Crappy assassin of the darkness you are, huh? Can't even--"

Beatnik trailed off. Her red eyes flicked back and forth. Binasplash, Red, Item...where was--?

Something splashed on the back of her neck. Her hand shot around and clapped over it; when she took it away, she saw that there was some kind of silvery liquid there. Horrified, Beatnik turned.

Behind her, Montag grinned.

And spit.

The cyber-caesium reacted and ignited, covering Beatnik's unprotected back in flame. The Mafioso could hardly managed the opening note of her yell when Red blasted her with an empowered Markcannon. Binasplash sprayed water everywhere, and re-formed that into a aqueous blade that slammed into Beatnik at high speed.

Blue armour locked into place around her hands, forming a pair of massive gauntlets that buzzed with a powerful electrical charge. She tensed up one leg, and then she was off. This time, though, the flames were clearly visible on the back of the green-and-yellow blur. In a blink she was in front of Binasplash, one fist raised; a weak little meep got him just out of the punch's range. With its power spent, that gauntlet shattered.

Beatnik refused to be discouraged, though. She crossed the distance between Binasplash and Red in a quarter of a second or less, and threw her other gauntleted fist toward the badass assassin hottie. A barrier of pure darkness knocked the individual pieces of armour back into her face.

In a flurry of colour, Beatnik was before Montag, with both of her fists raised. The blue armour formed a massive piledriver that engulfed her arms up to her elbows. Her shadow fell over Montag, and there was nothing the NetPoliceman could do - the dual-handed hammerblow smashed down onto him, sending him sprawling.

"You blight on the fair surface of the Internet!" Item shouted self-righteously. He had planted himself behind Beatnik and assumed the shape of some kind of mechanical rig, designed to swing a sword horizontally at high speed. The blade in question was one made of ice, with consendation streaming off. The catch released, and the rig spun madly, thwacking Beatnik with the icy sword a grand total of two times before the fragile blade broke.

Montag took the distraction as a chance to recover. He fetched his ornate, salamander-carved lighter from his satchel. Out came a glass flask of gasoline, which he slotted into the lighter's bottom. One flick ignited a flame a full three feet high, forming a type of fiery sword. He heard the leafy shuriken rustling up from behind and managed to jump the projectile entirely. Beatnik, who had been too focused on getting a line on Montag's impending attack and avoiding it, didn't notice the boomerang until it had hit her - hard. As Montag descended, he swung the fiery lighter-sword down, scorching dual paths across Beatnik's yellow bodysuit.

"Bastard!" Beatnik practically screamed, kicking back and floating away on her magnetic foot-rings. "You're going to be the first to die, arsonist!"

Montag just watched the flickering flame on his candle through the glass slit in his welding mask.

Beatnik saw her opening and went shooting past him. Her long tail of hair slapped him in the mask, knocking Montag out of his trance. He read her trajectory and took off after her.

The Mafioso got there first. Red was her target. A sphere of shifting water formed between her hands, and she thrust it viciously toward Red, intending to drown her altogether.

Then Montag got in the way. He slid to a halt between Red and Beatnik. His aluminum tent-shield-thing was alreayd in his hands, but this time it was covered with wriggling glow-worms of lightning. The electricity went straight after the water, forming a matrix of shocking power that cancelled the water-sphere right out of existence. Beatnik's face contorted into an expression of fury, and she darted out of the way to avoid another lash of Montag's lighter-sword.

"Are you all right?" he asked of Red, hardly looking back at her.

"Yes, I'm quite all right!" Item called, in clock radio form, from nearby.

Binasplash sighed as the green flames of the candle nestled in his back washed over him, healing his numerous shock wounds. "Well, what now Chris?" he asked, stopping close to Red.

Chris was meanwhile tapping two separate chips: a dusty old Rageclaw chip, and a well-used ElecReel. "Heh...heh...heh," Chris said, his eyes rolled upwards as he clicked his fingers together. He was planning something, something BIG.

"Uhh, Chris?" Binasplash asked, a bit nervous.

"Binasplash, I just got a brainwave made of epic win," Chris quipped on the private channel, confusing Binasplash slightly with his odd language. "I'll explain it as we go. For now, take a Rageclaw, build a catapult with it, and launch Red over to Beatnik. Oh, and be badass, alright?" he explained.

Binasplash's partially shrouded face broke into a leering grin. "You got it," he replied, before killing the link. He uploaded the Rageclaw, and got to work.

His tentacles once again came to life, including his tails. He leaned down to let the tail take over, and the massive appendage went rigid. Binasplash rotated his body to face Beatnik as his many tentacles started to stick to the sides and bottom of the catapult, pulling it down to the ground. The strain in the tentacles and the tail was obvious; Binsplash was truly struggling to hold his tail down.

Even if he was exerting himself, he turned to face Red. "Here goes," he thought to himself, before starting to speak. "Red, the enemy lies ahead, intent on engaging you in a dance of death. Your words may say otherwise, but I can see through you; I know you want to dance with the enemy," he said in a low voice.

"Your chariot stands before you, dark mistress. Step upon it, and begin your dance with fate!" Binasplash finished, gesturing behind him to the homebrewed catapult. The tentacles seemed eager to let go; to escort Red to Beatnik.

"Go...yon...san...ni...ichi...zero," Binasplash counted.

The tentacles released, and the catapult shot forward, propelling Red forward on a manufactured wind. Binasplash smiled and let his menacing partner deal with Beatnik for the time being. After watching the badassness for a while, he opened a window to Chris and asked, "Alright, so what now?"

"Now, you get some health back. Use the Data Absorption, and amp it up a bit with the EMP to give an extra charge. You should get out of the danger zone in terms of hit points with that. Then chuck Beatnik somewhere far away, where she can't get you. This all right?" Chris explained.

"S'alright," Binasplash replied. A few mental clanks were heard in the cacaphonus depths of his head as the sig programs loaded, then he was ready.

Binasplash saw Beatnik sailing towards him (or hopefully him). As he looked up, his tentacles sprang to life, eager to serve their vile purposes. A veritable swarm of the instruments that were widely known as every female's worst nightmares shot at the airborne Beatnik, intent on reeling her in like a prized fish. The tips of the tentacles suddenly morphed as they tried latching onto the Elec Navi, going from hoselike nozzles to great suction cups like a squid's. The greedy suckers reeled the targeted figure in close, until she was quite literally imprisoned against Binasplash, her figure elevated to just the right height for the two Navis to see eye-to-eye.

What was visible of Binasplash's face contorted into a sick grin as he tilted his head to one side, getting a good crack out of his armoured neck. "I may not have fangs or claws like Red," Binasplash whispered to Beatnik..."but tentacles can be just as useful, wouldn't you agree?" he added, tightening the deadly embrace.

Suddenly, just like a squid, the suction cups opened a ring in the center, and a sharp barb appeared, perfect for drawing blood. "You'll see what I mean right....about....now," Binasplash finished, letting the barbed suction cups stab into their target. The suckers greedily lapped up whatever sort of data they could get from the barb's wounds, transferring it to Binasplash's main body in hopes that it would be useful enough to merit some HP gain.

The tentacles, their job done, retracted their barbs and suction cups and turned back into hoses, but didn't let go of their target. "A good meal is always so fulfilling once you're finally allowed to sink your teeth into it, wouldn't you say? But it never lasts; you always finish too early and want more, but there isn't any. All you can do is throw out the scraps," Binasplash monologued, extending his tentacles so Beatnik (or whatever it was he may have picked up for whatever reason) was no longer pressed against him in a potentially compromising position. With a deft flick of his tentacles, he threw it away, aiming for the calm Sanctuary that he'd made recently. Such a shame that such a pristine fountain of such pure water would end up being a trash heap....

After barraging Beatnik with her attacks, Red finally settled down into a guarded stance, projecting a black barrier around herself. The enemy attacked, the defense nulled the blow, and the dark assassin struck back with a fatal shockwave of her own, countering the magnetic navi before her.

"Your words are empty," the sword navi mused. What she didn't expect, however, was Beatnik's next attack on her. As the torrent of water gushed at her, the black-cloaked demon closed her eyes and ducked her head, bringing both arms up in a defensive position, waiting for the blow...

that never came.

Montag stood, undeterred, in front of her, canceling Beatnik's attack out with a shield that spat out electricity.

Quote (NetPolice)

"Are you all right?" he asked of Red, hardly looking back at her.

"Yes, I'm quite all right!" Item called, in clock radio form, from nearby.

The black menace smirked, sheathing her blade while the restorative power of the Department Head's candle washed over her.
"Yes, thanks to you, Montag-san. I think I might owe you one." The assassin replied, winking at the Department Head's stoic back before turning toward her watery companion, Binasplash.

"Distract her a little bit for me, will you?" Red whispered into Montag's ear, before dashing at full speed to position herself in Binary's makeshift catapult, her cape billowing furiously in the wind. The badass sword of sound crouched down silently on the launch pad, hands on the handle of her scabbard and blade handle. Her crimson eyes stared straight ahead at the Mafiosi as her tentacled ally began the countdown.

Quote (Binary)

"Go...yon...san...ni...ichi...zero," Binasplash counted.

The tentacles released, and the catapult shot forward....

"Fly," the cloaked assassin muttered as her operator slotted in two chips.

Red was sent arcing high over the battlefield and her opponent, the breeze made her cape crackle a bit noisily as she descended toward the ground softly in her target area.

Behind Beatnik, back facing the forcefully dubbed "Nickelodeon."

The dark crusader's eyes flashed menacingly as she turned her head slightly to keep her enemy in her sights. The dark menace drew her sword, glowing softly with destructive power, planted her right foot forward, twisted clockwise with her left heel, shifting her whole body weight toward her right, her grip firm on her blade, positioned to be in line with her shoulder, turned toward Beatnik...

And thrust her blade mercilessly and swiftly as the actions performed above at the back of her opponent. Red grinned as she felt she hit something, but what was yet to reveal itself.

"Now that you've felt my fangs, have a taste of my raging CLAWS!" Red bellowed from behind the enemy, her left arm transforming into hideously dark and grotesque bear claw of gigantic size which emanated with a dark, flaming aura of the PianissimoCross' power once appearing on the netscape. At the end of the sword navi's line, Red pulled out her blade from whatever it was stuck in, hopefully Beatnik, and swung around to her left, bringing the Rageclaw in a furious backhand toward the backside of her magnetic foe, attempting to send her flying toward her tentacled ally, where it would handle the rest.

Instinct provoked Red to swiftly move out of Beatnik's attack range. Then, by her own volition, the dark crusader observed her enemy closely, ready to evade the electric navi's incoming attacks. Her support unit, somewhere else on the battlefield, copied her mistress in order to secure her own being.

"The rest is up to you, Chris, Binary," Shin commented, eating some potato chips while watching the battle.

"What?" Beatnik hissed, in response to some unheard question. Her mouth dropped open. "How many chips left?"

"Something the matter?" Montag called. Beatnik's head jerked up in surprise at being heard. She closed her jaw with a snap.

"That any of your business, doofus? It's only a matter of time before I delete you, anyway, so I think there are more important things for you to worry about, huh?" Beatnik snapped her fingers; the song in the media window changed again, to something infinitely more apocalyptic.

As Binasplash jury-rigged his Redapult, Montag went into his satchel again. This time, he brought out a little metal flask, presumably filled with some manner of liquid. Without any further banter, he lifted his welding mask -- underneath was a smile -- and drank the entire contents of the flask. A little label on the front read 'kerosene'.

He managed to knock back all of the kerosene with absolutely no trouble; on the contrary, he seemed to enjoy it. A lit match appeared from almost nowhere, like a magician's trick, in his hand. Without even the slightest shred of hesitation, he swallowed it.

And burst into flame.

His entire body was sheeted with fire, regardless of the fireproof gloves and boots. The burning creature beckoned wordlessly to Red and Binasplash, and took off to lay the smack down on Beatnik once and for all.

The Mafioso, meanwhile, had brought up one arm and pointed the palm at Montag. Energy coursed down her yellow skinsuit. In her hand was a miniature sun, complete with solar flares that licked at her palm. It started as a deep red, but quickly progressed up the scale to a pure white as it gathered more power. A tiny shockwave burst outward from the sun's centre, signaling a complete charge, and Beatnik grinned at the approaching monster of flame.

"HOPE YOU LIKE THE SUNSHINE!"

A fat beam of solid light and electricity, at least five feet tall, exploded outward from her outstretched hand. It almost totally engulfed Montag and burned straight into the surface of the network, deeply scarring the panels it passed over.

Then Montag was out of it again as the blast petered out, and was punching Beatnik in the face. Static electricity leapt from her suit to his fist, but the Department Head seemed not to care. He pulled his fist back, judged his timing, and lashed out again, this time kneeing Beatnik in the abdomen. The fire scorched her avatar so deeply that patches of raw coding could be seen underneath. This lasted only a moment, before a wire-frame skeleton closed over the gap.

As Montag beat mercilessly on the Mafioso, Binasplash was able to co-ordinate a successful launch of the crimson-and-black assassin. Beatnik was far too busy being hammered to notice Red landing softly behind her. The Mafioso realized Red's presence when she shoved a katana through her gut. The burning Montag-thing glanced back, saw Binasplash, picked up on what they were planning, and stepped aside. Red ripped the sword out and traded it in for a Rageclaw, which she closed around Beatnik's waist and used to forcefully hurl the Mafioso toward the waiting Binasplash.

A forest of tentacles rose up to greet her.

In a flurry of movement, a sudden jerk to a halt, and Beatnik realized that she had been smashed up against Binasplash's scales, which weren't exactly comfortable. The tentacles pinning her there weren't, either. Her arms were stuck at her sides, and there was no way for her to reach the huge locking cylinder on her chest.

"SEND IT DOWN!" she bellowed toward the sky.

Far away, something beeped once.

Beatnik went limp just as the sharpened tentacles cut into her, swiping her coding. Her head lolled back as if she had lost consciousness entirely.

"Well played, Binary!" Item called, as he changed shape into a big rifle.

But it hadn't been.

Frighteningly fast, her head snapped up again. Her eyes were different -- the redness of the irises had spread to the entire eye, like blood spilled just below the surface. Her face curved into a downright insane grin. Just as Binasplash casually tossed Beatnik towards the remnants of his fountain, Beatnik grabbed hold of a handful of tentacles, pulled, and...

...ripped them off.

She tossed the amputated tentacles carelessly aside. Beatnik was changing, that much was certain. Her colour schematics were reforming themselves in response to this new ability, and her entire avatar was inverting itself. Beatnik's sunny yellow skinsuit flickered and went violet, while her free-floating, sky-blue armour was covered in a wash of orange. Only her green hair stayed the same, although it brightened in gradual waves until it was more whitish-green than anything.

Beatnik squared up with her legs way apart, taking her into a deep stance ready to pounce. The magnetic rings still kept her floating a good couple of feet off the ground. She looked down, toward the tiles. "No problem to tear up," she said in a voice that most definitely wasn't hers.

Montag loomed behind her, fist ready for another punishing strike. Beatnik's head snapped around, and then she was gone. That was all; no tell-tale blur, no nothing. Just gone. Moving so quickly that even Red and Binasplash's advanced ocular programs couldn't pick her up.

There was an ominous rumble underfoot. Then everything pretty much blew up.

All around the civilians, the NetPoliceman, and the Department Head, the panels of the network itself were being forcefully ripped from their brackets by some immense force. Debris and dust flew everywhere, richocheting off anything that got in their way. Red, Item, and Binasplash hit the deck, while Montag vanished under his immensely durable aluminum tent-shield. As the shrapnel flew, Binasplash and Red caught brief glimpses of a silhouette, held in the dust for a moment as she passed through and punched out a Beatnik-shaped hole. Then the dust filled in the gap. Aside from that, there was no way that either civilian count pinpoint Beatnik's position at any one time. Everything was simply falling apart around them simultaneously.

So this was a Darkchip -- power enough to destroy a network itself.

At last, the supports underneath the tiled floor gave out, and everybody fell into the neverending darkness of the Net abyss.

If Red or Binasplash were to look up, they would have seen Beatnik. She was stationary now, floating in the emptiness that had once been the floor of the ElecTown network. The magnetic rings under her feet were gone. They had grown into giant circles of electricity just off her shoulderblades, much like wings, keeping her aloft with no other visible means of support. Looking down with those solid red eyes, Beatnik waved bye-bye to the suckers.

And jacked out.

Montag's fire went out as he folded up the aluminum tent in mid-plunge. His hand shot up to the side of his welding mask, where his ear should have been. It seemed as though he was sending some kind of radio transmission behind that visor.

"The NetPolice emergency protocol?" Item, in the shape of a loudspeaker with pointless little wings that did nothing to slow its fall, shouted. Montag nodded once. The Department Head flipped mask-over-heels until he was facing toward the sky that seemed so far away now.

Four points of white light appeared in the depths of the virutal heavens. They quickly built in intensity as they locked onto their targets. As Binasplash, Red, Item, and Montag neared the wasteland of the Rogue Network that was coming up fast, they were stopped by four towers of blinding light. These pre-programmed pillars worked fast, breaking down the Navis' basic coding and sending it shooting up, back into their individual PETs. With its work done, the NetPolice emergency protocol vanished as though it had never been, taking the Navis with it.

Montag's salamander-emblazoned lighter broke as it smashed into the Rogue Network. The pieces spun off into the darkness.

The catapult launched, Montag lit himself on fire, Red flew, Montag attacked, Red stabbed, Montag stepped back, Red backhanded, Beatnik was sent flying, Binary absorbed some health back...

Then all went to hell as Beatnik begun her erratic rampage, ripping off Binasplash's tentacles and whatnot.

Soon enough, as the battle raged on, the floor BLEW OPEN.

The Mafiosi's graphical change signified enough evidence that something powerful, and dark had been used. But what?

"Darkchip?" Shin mused to himself as the combatants fell through the crater. Red spotted a horde of viruses below and "tched" as they fell down.

Montag activated the escape protocol, but the dark assassin hadn't finished her business.

"Binary! Catch!" the sword navi shouted, sending a link in her ally's direction. Now she was done.

"Contact me if need be!" Red called, her data dissolving slowly, until a jet back column of light landed her back in her PET.

((Closure. CHRIS GET: Shin's E-mail. ))
The field was a mess. Montag was a humanoid firestorm, Red's katana had been sheathed in Beatnik's gut, and Binasplash had successfully tentacled the hell out of Beatnik enough to regain some energy[/innuedo]. It had looked pretty damn cool to Chris, especially considering the epic music playing in the background.

Then things just dropped being messy and went straight to hell. The floor downright exploded, dropping Red, Item, Montag, and a wincing Binasplash (the tentacle-ripping had really damn hurt) down into the abyss below. "BINARY, GET OUTTA THERE!" Chris yelled over the chaos.

"I CAN'T; THE JACK-OUT BARRIER'S STILL ACTIVE!" Binasplash shouted back, his massive tail stretched out beneath him and making him seem much, much larger than normal. He looked upwards towards when the transformed, dark Beatnik had once been, then downwards. He could see and hear things coming from deep below, and knew that he'd be a fish out of water if he landed in there. That is to say, he'd be dead meat.

Then, more chaos happened, but this time for the better. Light engulfed Binasplash's optics, sound flooded his audio receptors as he felt himself mercifully being dematerialized; he was somehow being logged out. He vaguely heard Red's voice amongst the rush of sound, and felt something; data of some sort land among his tentacles, but then he was lost. "Perhaps we'll meet again, Red," he muttered as the scales finally broke, revealing the white core of Binary underneath. He then abruptly vanished, back into the safety of Chris' PET.
