Network Hike

((From Bounty Shop))

Materializing on the other side of the link, Delta surveyed the network before him. After a few moments, he started walking, hoping to get a feel for the location.

((Searching for Battle 1))
It wouldn't take long for Delta to walk before he would be jumped by a quartet of viruses, a large area of normal paneling spread about the area but mostly in three big patches, several lush beds of grass and a single area of loamy soil in the middle of the area, with the navi finding a duo of a Kabutank and Cacty in the northwest of the area, the latter sitting on a lush bed of grass paneling as it slowly bobbed it's head back and forth with the former spinning it's wheels around the area. A NeoMetool in the exact center of the area, waving a modified pickaxe meanacingly...and then, a harsh buzzing noise coming in from the side, a swarm of Skeeter viruses buzzing close to the navi, ready to leech his data for their own use. As well, a GMD sat behind the Met, slowly rotating on it's axis as battle routines flared up.

-- Battle 1 Ready? Start!! --
((Having just entered the network, I should have 180 HP rather than 150.))

There wasn't really any question about where to start. Raising his left hand in buster form, Delta opened fire on the Skeeter swarm, two shots crossing the distance near instantly.

Without waiting to see if the swarm survived, Delta activated his shield, forming the defense on his right arm. It didn't feel any heavier, and Delta hoped that the extra shield program would work as advertised.

Which was when Henry slotted in the first chip of the battle. "Wind uploading."

That was all of the notice that Delta needed to activate the chip data as soon as it arrived, creating an immense fan on the battlefield, one that immediately started creating a wind that would push the viruses away from him. "Okay, now let's try chip that we just got!"

"Um...right, the MagBomb! I'm also going to send a TwinFang."

"Excellent," was Delta's only response as the chip data came in. Pausing to judge the distance between himself and the tank, the navi lobbed the explosive in an arc at the pair of viruses. A moment later, his buster released two fangs to follow the magnetic grenade towards the tank and cactus.

Finally, the netnavi turned to the met, forgoing another battlechip in favor of firing his buster twice at the virus.

I'll let it slide this time, but you may want to take a few extra minutes on your posts in the future to review your actions and the posts therein.)

Taking no time to let the bitey bugs get a chance to suck down his data, Delta opened fire with two quick shots, each shot hitting their mark just enough to count as the swarm was quickly sent to the floor, lifeless (20x2). Unfortunately, Delta would be fired upon by the Kabutank whom, unfortunately for it, would miss entirely from it's position and the bombs would land far away from the navi. But the Cacty would throw it's head forward and meet immediately with Delta's shield, the shield crumpling inwards before managing to fend off the cactus head for it's rebounded attack, head falling neatly on the virus' body without a second thought. body bobbing to the beat of an invisible tune.

The met would meet the challenge Delta afforded as it spat out a pellet, connecting with Delta's knee and sending a little reverberation into his body from the damage dealt (10). But this did not dissuade the navi's aiming efforts, as he lobbed a bomb high into the air, crashing down in the midst of the Kabutank and Cacty, though...the Kabutank made the attempt to avoid the attempted attack...and failed, pins and needles affecting the two (30, 30) as he followed up with his Twinfang...impaling the Cacty through it's head...but the second went wide entirely and missed the Kabutank (70, miss). The tank would retaliate with a second salvo of blasts, one going wide like last time, but, the second hit Delta on the chest, an explosion of soot and gunpowder across his face and another quick jolt of pain (10).

The Met took it's chance to hide beneath it's helm this time, guarding itself before Delta could blast it in the face with his buster, leading the navi's attacks on it...less than moot...the first shot going wide as the second...would hit straight ahead, leading the Metool to begin to glow dimly, absorbing the kinetic energy, transferring it into it's own attack for next turn.

Delta reactivated the shield program before addressing Henry, "Okay, ready for more chips." The netnavi next formed his rocket launcher, taking aim at the met hiding under its helmet. Even as the self-propelled projectile screamed towards the met, he was already moving to evade any attacks from the viruses.

"FireHit uploading!" Henry's announcement of incoming chip data couldn't have been more welcome, the armored navi punching out and sending a burning fist at the bomb-hurling tank.

Moving evasively once more, Delta struck out a second time, launching another echo of his fist towards the same target. Either strike should in theory be enough to delete the weakened virus on its own, but there was always the possibility that the first strike missed.

Summoning another shield to protect himself, the navi quickly getting out a big ol fuck-off launcher to deal with the Metool in front of him and firing his shot off...sending it straight to hell with more than just a little overkill on his part, leaving nothing but a smoking scorch spot right where the met had been standing (200!). The Kabutank would begin to spin it's wheels heavily, trying to avoid the inevitable followup against it, the virus' body shocked by pinpricks and electrical residue by the Magbomb prior. It wouldn't take much more as Delta followed through...and crushed the entire virus' outer shell, leading it to explode in dramatic fashion. Rewards being collected as Delta could open up the GMD or leave it alone.

Delta continued forward as he could hear hungry buzzing about the area, lush grass underneath his feet as mud was scattered about in some decently sized patches. The buzzling only getting louder as a swarm of Skeeter viruses would attempt to latch onto Delta, but missed as he ducked. The navi would soon see a second swarm out in the distance as he could hear the growl of a bear behind him, a large teddy bear-like virus with razor sharp claws beginning to emerge from the soft exterior of it's hands. Meanwhile, he could hear something splashing about one of the mud puddles, turning to see a large raccoon-like virus with an even lengthier tail in the form of a question mark above it's head, a Bandcoon...and then he could hear the sound of a virus as it began to rapidly approach him, a Swordy-W with a shimmering green blade above it's head rushing him headlong from the front. It was certainly one of those days as battle routines kicked in and began Delta's second battle.

BandcoonBandcoon (Bandcoon)

Bandcoons are gray raccoon-like creatures, around 30 inches in height. They possess black stripes around their body, aside from their short, almost stub-like legs. Their faces are usually unseen, as they're covered in a red mask with string decorations. Their tails are twice as long as their actual bodies, and are usually curved into a question mark shape. At first this may seem like a simple design choice, but the tail is actually prehensile, and Bandcoon cleverly use it to steal chip data from Navis. Bandcoons' speed and small size combine to make them surprisingly difficult to hit while moving, and are even agile enough to turn sharply with little problem. However, if caught standing still, they're practically sitting ducks. However, when they're not using chips, they always prefer to move when possible. Their main tactic is to roll around and confound the enemy with their speed, then move in and swipe them with their tail, using it like a hook to grab data not directly tied to them, namely Battlechips. They can then use it themselves, at reduced power, as a free action. All other effects of the chips still apply, including pre-requisites to use the chip (i.e. Spice still needs Grass terrain, MachineSword still requires that the enemy be stunned). Higher level Bandcoon are aware of such conditions, and will try to satisfy the requirements if at all possible. If the enemy has no Battlechips, Bandcoons get extremely aggravated, and will ram an enemy in anger and desperation. However, they severely dislike doing this, and will only use this attack as a last resort for when they have no chips.

((I could have sworn that I had more HP than that.))

This time, Henry beat Delta to the punch, inserting a battlechip before the navi could announce that they were in a fight, "FireHit incoming."

Delta's fists were surrounded by flames. The netnavi swung, sending a fireball at the sword wielding virus, before turning left and punching again, sending the second fireball towards the raccoon. A moment later, a shield flashed into existence on his right arm, a defensive measure against the viruses.

Delta turned again to face the Bear, a rocket launcher forming on his left shoulder just long enough to fire, the explosive projectile leaving a trail of smoke behind as it raced forward towards the unfortunate virus. He didn't stop turning however, continuing until he faced one of the Mosquito viruses, firing his buster twice at the bounty target. Even then, the netnavi would spin another 180 degrees to fire his buster twice more, at the last of the viruses that had accosted him.

Fists alit in flames, Delta took the initiative to attack the Swordy charging headlong at him, but the Swordy would dodge out of the way just in the nick of time, barely avoiding getting burned away in the flames Delta held. But before he could turn to the Bandcoon, he already had viruses encroaching on him, including it. The small Racoon virus attempting grand larceny, but barely missing as the Skeeters had swarmed in on him, both swarms within biting distance of the navi

Though it wasn't long before the Bandcoon got a taste of the firehit it had attempted to steal, leading to it getting smacked across the face and sent out and away (120!), disappearing into a heap of ash. The Teddy was closing in and with it's claws out, raked across Delta's shield, causing the metal to crumple away in a useless heap, leading him to blow away the teddy with a point blank rocket to the face, deleting it on the spot (100). The two Skeeters would make their move as he had turned to the Teddy, beginning to swarm him and make their attempts to drain his energy, leading to one swarm getting lucky enough to prick away some of Delta's HP (30). Unfortunately for them, they were close enough that Delta would unleash hell on them, one swarm going down quickly under his attacks (20, 20) but the other would barely be out of the way of one of his shots, barely surviving the twin shots (20), but at the same time, the Swordy would get it's revenge as it teleported up towards Delta and swiped it's sword across his stomach (10) and give him a nasty wooden cut before moving back to where it was, within reach of Delta.

((EXPLOSIONS!))
The moment that the medical kit appeared, Delta popped it open to trigger its healing effect. Summoning another Shield onto his right arm, the netnavi evaluated the situation. Dancing backwards in an evasive maneuver, he spoke, "Sword please."

"Sword chip data incoming." Henry's response was swift, but Delta didn't activate the chip data immediately, instead turning his buster on the remaining mosquitos with two more shots. Then, he activated the sword, the weapon appearing in his hand even as his buster vanished. With that, Delta carefully approached the sword-wielding virus, ready to at least try and avoid any attacks that it made against him. As he reached it, the netnavi swung his weapon out, trying to end the fight decisively.

Delta was quick to heal up with his own medkit as he prepared his defenses, the navi would be ready to defend as the swordy rushed him again, a long slash barely avoided by the navi as he sent another duo of shots at the swarm of Skeeters, clipping them with one shot and missing with the other, but it was enough to send them spiraling down towards the floor (20) and end their annoyance. The swordy, watching as the last of it's allies were dead, quickly followed up as it moved forward, matching Delta's movements, swinging it's sword wide as Delta reciprocated, the Swordy's sword piercing into the shield as Delta in turn before getting sliced across it's chest, sending it falling backwards and ending the fight.

Collecting the reward data, Delta looked it over. "Darn, no chips. I was kinda hoping to get something from that Swordy." With that said, the netnavi started looking for the next battle.

((Battle 3?))
Delta could feel himself being watched by the inhabitants of the area, in the grass and trees he could feel all eyes on him, while the buzzing noises around him only grew more and more intense and louder. It wouldn't be long however before the navi would find himself in front of a giant tree, boughs while high, were not insurmountable. But this would lead him to getting jumped again by the local virus population. A Shrubby and Metool duo popping up from the grass, even though the latter was trying to dig into the grass as some sort of faux safety. Flopping up from a puddle of mud nearby, a Mudfeesh would be seen in it's natural habitat ready to "play" as it were. As a Bombcorn would hop out from behind the tree and begin hopping towards Delta...and finally, that familiar buzzing noise would come out from atop the boughs of the tree, a swarm of Skeeters honing in on Delta's signature.

Delta activated his shield as the battle began, raising his buster to fire two shots at the skeeter with his other hand. That done, considered the situation before speaking, "I think a TwinFang and Shotgun would do well here."

"Got it. Chip data incoming." Henry didn't take long to select the chips, catching on to at least some of his netnavi's plan.

Raising his buster again, Delta unleashed the first chip, sending a pair of fangs towards the corn and fish. "Thank you." The netnavi sidestepped, moving to throw off any incoming attacks, before raising his buster again and firing at the metool. If the netnavi's aim was true, the shotgun chip should penetrate the metool regardless of whether it was guarding, and strike the bush behind it. Finally, he fired his buster's standard shots at any viruses that had yet to be deleted.

Summoning his shield to his side, the navi was quickly assaulted by the surrounding viruses, the Bombcorn coughed up a large kernel of corn in Delta's direction, the resulting explosion however just going too far and missing the navi entirely. The Shrubby would however be more adventurous and make an attempt on his person, sending a rolling log out...and completely missing as it just rolled harmlessly to the side. The navi, however, would get both shots off on his target, sending the swarm of Skeeters to the ground without a second thought (20, 20) and removing the airborne threat. The Met and Mudfeesh watched as the Bombcorn began to move, intent on evading his next strike. As the fangs flew at their intended targets, the bombcorn would get skewered through, but the Mudfeesh would flop harmlessly out of the way of the attack (70).

This lead the Met to make an attempt on Delta's life in turn, leading to his knee getting clipped mid-dodge, but, unfortunately for the met it's life was ended in turn as the shotgun clipped it and the Shrubby in turn (50, 50). This would lead the Mudfeesh to flop up to Delta and smack against his shield twice as it in turn got clipped by the resulting buster shots, Delta still coming out ahead as the Mudfeesh was on it's last legs whilst he was relatively unharmed. Minus the mud caking his boots and seeping into his feet, slowing his movements just a little bit...

Delta didn't even bother trying to dodge, just taking careful aim with his buster before firing two shots at the weakened virus as it flopped about. Just to be safe, he activated his shield program afterwards, holding the defensive measure between himself and the fish to intercept its attack if it survived.

Should the muddy virus somehow survive those shots, likely by avoiding them, Delta would repeat the procedure of taking aim, but keep firing after the first few shots, hoping to mop up with sheer volume of fire if nothing else.
