Searching for some guy

(+2 FXP for the previous battle, since I kinda didn't mention it earlier.)

Oddly enough, the Normal terrain SplitMan wanted to see didn't appear at any point. In fact, as soon as they stepped off of the soil, the ground became ice cold. That...could not be natural. As evidenced by that virus group over there trying to smash it up. On the plus side, some very unnatural smoke could be seen in the distance. Looked like they weren't too far now.

...Wait, virus group? And they've noticed you, since viruses have a really bad sense of timing like that. Looks like you've got a little business to take care of before you can take care of business.

Feeling the cold set in on her legs, Freya realised hell...had frozen over. Then she saw the viruses, four surrounded by auras, three as black as the night. The HP values for all seven viruses didn't help matters at all. Freya considered briefly to change the terrain to something more suitable for her and Splitman. She nodded to herself as she went with her plan.

Her arms glowed a bright green as a barrier surrounded her body, as soon as her magic was prepped and ready to change the terrain, Freya broke through the ice and dug her arms into the paneling below it, a pulse of energy stimulated the surrounding area, the ice melting as firtile soil began to replace it, with the same "pop" noise as she forced her arms out of the ground, sending her to her back.

Quickly getting up, Freya summoned a trio of wooden daggers between her fingers, dull they may be, but they were sharp enough to pierce the black hides of the nightmare viruses. Bringing her arm back, Freya brought it towards a Nightmare, sending the daggers flying towards it at a high speed. Freya promptly darted from her position, in a, probably futile, attempt to evade the enemies attacks...her barrier wasn't going to survive for long.

Split looked at the situation before cursing himself. He was screwed.

He readied himself for an attack on his enemies, preparing himself for some kind of chip download.

Then he received the Heatshot, and all of his troubles began to multiply. His left arm transformed into the generic fire-based weapon, and he watched as the fire-based enemies moved in upon him. This was not a useful selection. Instead of firing directly at the enemies he cursed Chad and aimed below them at the ice, hoping to send them plunging into the resulting water.

He glanced again at the remaining enemies, this may well have been the only time he had ever seen sufficient enemies that a spreader would make sense, but instead they just had to be covered in Auras. Instead of anything useful, he received a Mine. The weapon MIGHT just be something resembling useful against this number of enemies. As he deployed it randomly on the field he cursed his ally for changing the advantageous terrain into something more agreeable with their enemies.
"Really, you couldn't leave the ICE terrain when fighting FIRE based enemies?" He shouted at his ally, who clearly was more interested in some minor personal advantage than truly bettering the situation. Split glanced around at the next chip - a guard2. At least it appeared that Chad had acknowledged that the situation was a bad one and provided some modicum of defense.

Split himself took advantage of his natural speed to advance towards his ally. Maybe he could at least take some hits for him.

As Freya set about turning the terrain into something completely different, SplitMan began his attacking with a HeatShot at the shadowy viruses...however, one of the Megalian quickly got in front of them and shot its head forward, which directly hit the fiery shotgun blast. While this stunned the virus into retracting its attack, the combined heat of the opposing forces heated the soft earth below, creating a...less than hospitable area for the Navis.

After all the changing of the ground below, what better thing to do...than use the altered floor to attack? That appeared to be the elementless Navi's line of thought, as he placed land mines randomly throughout the battlefield. But exactly where, even he couldn't say. Afterward, and after moving in front of the puppet Navi, he put up a red shield, prepared for the counterattack. Deciding on a slightly more direct approach, the wooden Navi tossed a few splinters at a Nightmare, who made no attempt to dodge...and was genuinely shocked when the wood shards stuck in it, as though it was solid.

As it appeared the Navis had stopped, a couple of viruses decided to strike. Another Megalian attempted its ranged headbutt attack, breaking SplitMan's shield and smacking him. It tried to move on to Freya, but her evasive maneuvers were good enough to easily escape in time, even on short notice. A Nightmare then tried to slice the Navis up with its sword arm, but the mafia Navi sidestepped it, and the puppet was already out of range.

...Hmm? That's strange...the small area of Coal on the field seemed to be getting a bit bigger...or was that just the Navis' imaginations?

Split looked at the situation in front of him and cursed himself quietly. This infernal mission had clearly brought him to the point of oblivion once again. Softly softly and on and on it once again went instead again and brought him to a place where he was doomed to die. Over and over the words streamed like wallpaper across his head, thoughts, deadly thoughts, pleasant thoughts, useless thoughts. Thoughts about how the shields he had relied upon were useless, thoughts about how he was going to die, thoughts about how every one of these pathetic little things was going to be going down with him if he had a damn thing to say about it.

A ringlog, lovely a freaking log, a useless sack of brown and green, for him to throw at those still asleep because of some pathetic useless idea that came across a fool in some sort of trade forum in the distance that he had to rely on.

Splt gripped the tree that appeared beside him, fingers biting into the wood - eyes flashing red, and voice bellowing in some sort of vicious shout that sounded like someone else crying off in the distance. Crying that they might die. Like these things in front of him. He swung the shaft of wood like a giant makeshift club, the wood felt light in his hands even though its size was massive. The wood dragged across the ground, somehow feeding on it, as though it was trying to make sense of the laws that brought trees into existence from beyond reality and made bubbles explode in deadly cascade. His first swing seemed to aim itself, aim itself at the group of swordsmen in front of him. Had they moved or had he? It was inconsequential.

He took a step forward, and the step carried him, moved him, whisked him away in front of his separate target. Larger, more powerful, deadlier still. The enemies rushed into focus as he hefted the tree in one hand and swung it about with improbable force. The tree shot out like a bullet from his hand as his mind finished connecting to the situation at hand. Somewhere in the back of his mind he realized that this was not a desirable situation to be in. Somewhere further back still, he realized that he didn't care.

He gripped his arm tightly as it turned into some sort of unusual weapon. A spear of some sort, an impractical thing. Forged from water worse yet, some sort of pathetic excuse for a thing that might want to exist in this world. He eyed the weapon cautiously and took a step back from his enemies. It appeared this might take some time before it was functional.

Watching the terrain fume and burn away from her stupid fucking idea to turn the terrain to soil so she wouldn't have to slip and slide and miss her attacks on the ice. Fuck. Me. Freya mumbled under her breath...watching as the Coal terrain had begun to cover the area, burning away her precious Soil terrain. Fire Knife, Jack. she said to the sky, getting her chip data without delay.

A splinter shot out from her arm, right at one of the Nightmare viruses, she knew it wouldn't hurt them, but perhaps it would change the terrain under it to make it easy prey for her next attack. Dashing off to the weakened Nightmare, her arm began to glow a soft read, turning her hand into a small bladed weapon as flames began to flicker along the blade, nearing her target, she jumped towards it and slashed at it, hoping her blade would manage to pierce the shadows that covered the enemy.

Turning to the enemy she had attacked moments ago with her splinter, Freya took desisive aim at it mentally, her weapon begging to slash through the dark hide of the virus, she made another dash, this time towards another of the Shadows.

Her weapon scraping along the ground, she jumped at it, high in the air, she came down upon it and slashed at it downwards, moving quickly she went to the side and slashed at it again, hoping to fell the virus so she would only have one major target left, she would let Splitman take care of the Megalian viruses for the time being. Jumping backwards, making sure to not step on the coals that grew and grew off of her soil, she began to run a wide circle around the remaining Nightmare, she would quell it, one way or another.

Wood was suddenly the order of the day, as wooden splinters and future splinters were used with reckless abandon. However, the attacks simply sailed through the shadow viruses, with no effect whatsoever. The Navis were promptly laughed at by the Nightmares.

However, the amusement suddenly stopped as Freya acquired her own blade to counter the sword wielders, and attempted to slice them in two. Caught off guard, two of them quickly fell to the might of FireKnife. Two of the Megalian, as well, found themselves without auras as another log smashed into them. Not happy about this, they rocketed their heads forward at the Navis, who each managed to avoid the attacks. The lone remaining Nightmare attempted to whittle the puppet Navi into shreds, but only managed to put a dent in her barrier. And a dent was all the barrier could take, so it vanished.

...Okay, there was definitely something with the Coal area. It certainly wasn't that big earlier, and it was starting to cover some of the viruses...

Coal terrain was continuing to take over the soil she had created, it wasn't that bad for Splitman, but it was bad for her, considering that Wood burns quite nicely and Splitman was more or less not a wood type. You can swear at me if you want to for my incompitence, but for right now lets get rid of these viruses and get that damned box. Freya yelled out to Splitman whom had begun getting rid of the Megalean viruses.

With her weapon at the ready, Freya sent a small splinter at the remaining Nightmare, attempting to destract it from her knife, which was the only thing that was capable of actually managing to damage the damn thing. The steam hindered her vision of the target, which wasn't such a good thing all things considered. With the knife continuing to burn her with it's flames, Freya needed to take it out now if she wanted to avoid catching on fire.

Quickly rushing it without any regard for her own safety, Freya brought her knife towards it, mentally taking aim at it in an attempt to see through the steam the coals had created. With her final thought of God...if you give two shits about me...let me kill this damn thing here and now so I can help Splitman..., she attempted to stab the virus in the chest with her flaming knife.

Without thinking and relying entirely on instinct, a thing she thought to not have, she heard a click coming from the PET, activating the chip data, she thrust her free hand into the virus, a sword appearing from what was her hand, attempting to cut into the virus...with a final movment, Freya brought her weapons back and slashed at it once more, hoping to god that the virus had been felled.

Splitman starred blindly, acutely, nonsensically, as though waiting-pondering-thinking-concluding what to do. The spear of liquid swung softly at his side scheming to do harm to his flaming foes. It seemed to grow a mind of its own as it called to him at some corner of his mind.

So his mind just went, along with his body, leaping at the enemies with the liquid spike. He hurled the shaft at his first foe, watching the substance twist and turn in the air like some sort of flying snake that had been let loose upon his foes. When the fist blast struck home another shaft hung meekly at his side, waiting to be loosed upon his -clearly suspecting- foes. He glanced at the timer he had somehow realized, taking note that this was actually an incredibly poor situation that had brought itself before him, his weapon would cease to function in just a few seconds.

What a useless piece of junk.

Split cursed himself quietly, and Chad aswell(just to be fair) for their collective incompetence. Clearly Chad though this was enough weaponry for the moment, as he hadn't slotted in any more chips either.

He quickly rushed at the remaining enemies, with the exception of the Swordsmen that his ally seemed to have covered. One-two he reached out and hurled the liquid lances across the remainder of the field towards his final foes, begrudgingly admitting to himself that this wouldn't be finish off any of them. Unfortunately, he was still aware enough that he was going to have issues when they returned fire.

Reflexively he leapt behind his ally and gathered energy from the surrounding area. At least he would be able to recovery quickly when the moment game.

Freya continued her bladed assault on the remaining Nightmare, after another splinter passed through it like nothing. This time, however, the shadow virus knew enough to try and get out of the way of the slashes. Luckily for the puppet, it wasn't that great at it, and after an initial miss, cut it apart.

SplitMan added his own attacks to mix, throwing water-attuned spears at the enemies. To his (likely) great shock, they acted as though the auras were never there, going completely through two of the Megalian and deleting them instantly. However, the very first spear was so badly launched, that the target didn't even have to budge for it to miss. Ouch. He then quickly fled behind his partner, and started collecting healing energy.

Not pleased about nearly getting skewered, the Megalian moved to a more headbutt-friendly location, and slammed its cranium into the Navis. Freya's barrier held well enough to prevent it from hitting, but SplitMan took the full brunt of the attack.

Meanwhile, the coal terrain continued to expand, now covering even the ground the Navis and their recent assailant stood on...and floated over...

Dismissing her foe, she turned to her ally. Better be careful Splitman. I'd rather not have to pick you up off the floor and drag you to that damn box. Freya said, not noticing the coals burning her feet as she summoned another barrier around her body.

Sending another splinter from her body at one of the viruses, Freya dashed towards the virus that was over the grass terrain, scraping it across the grass it's self, sending a few blades into the air with her knife, Freya attempted to slash the virus and ignite the grass below it for a boost to her attack as her knife ran out of juce and flickered away into small flecks of data, giving Freya a free hand as she backed away from it, contacting her netop as soon as she was a safe distance away. Jack, can you hear me? Freya here. Send me the Aquaneedle and Recover30. Our ally could use some extra help. Nodding wordlessly and obeying his Navi, Jack slotted in the requested chips.

Summoning the Aquaneedle in her free hand, three aquatic daggers appeared in her free hand, between her fingers, bringing back her arm and taking aim at her foes mentally, she sent two of the three needle daggers at the Megalians, hoping they would hit. Accessing the Recover30 data, a pink aura surrounded the final dagger and locked onto Splitman's unique data signature, she turned to Splitman and nodded at him. Don't block this, it's not going to hurt...well...you might feel a small prick. she said to her ally before sending the healing data at Splitman, the dagger went wide of Splitman but the healing data hit it's mark. Freya quickly asked for another chip, the Hi-Cannon from their asenal, quickly equipping it and moving from her current spot, Freya took loose aim at the virus that was over the Coals that had formed from her stupidity, she let loose a loud blast of energy as the blast would hopefully hit it's mark.

Splitman oogled the situation cautiously, but found himself to be quite short on supplies time and a substantial degree of focus. Indeed, it was most certainly his fault that they had gotten into this situation, but he would NOT let some pathetic little chump act like he was a hero. He hand curled into a ball of fire and let lose a condensed ball of flame, hurling itself at his target, whatever that was. The blast shot past the side of his ally's head and plunked itself into place at its final destination, sweeping across the air after impact like the smoke of a house on fire during hurricane winds.

The analogy at least worked well in his head. Quickly, split pivoted and grabbed his ally. "If you so much as CONSIDER healing me again, rather than attacking the enemy, I will CONSIDER leaving you to rot the next time you need support of your own" As if in response to the end of that statement, a pillar of light engulfed the two of them, grasping at their injuries and bringing about a full recovery "I am the healer here"

Split turned at the remaining enemies and curled his fist into a ball. He took a single stride forward and his the ground, causing an eruption of blue energy to cascade across his eyes. Hopefully that would take care of that.

=====BATTLE THREE, COMPLETE=====

Rewards:

-SplitMan: 600z
Duly noted, Splitman. Freya said as she skidded over the ice that had somehow formed after the fight, downloading the zenny that had been dropped during the fight, at least her fair share of it. Lets get going Split. We should be near the box, lets hurry and finish this damn mission up...feels like we've been looking for the damn thing for months. Freya said as she began to run ahead of Splitman, hoping to find the black box and finish this mission one way or another.
"I suppose we should continue on.... "Splitman began "But what the hell would do something like this? Was there some sort of giant freeze-ray on the plane?"

Not that his question mattered. He found himself following his ally for the first time since the mission began, trailing behind her as she darted off towards what was presumably the destination of the box.
Finally, after much traveling, hardships, and getting smacked by floating heads, Freya and SplitMan reached their destination: a small, single passenger plane, that was about as wrecked as a plane could possibly be while maintaining a general plane shape. After all, how could anyone know it was a plane at a glance if it didn't at least resemble a plane?

But of more importance was the scene in front of that plane. What appeared to be a bluish NormalNavi with pupiled eyes and a helmet decorated with ice crystals appeared to be fending off the last of a group of viruses...

"Urk...I'm reaching my limit...Zero Storm!..."

With a wave of his left hand...a gigantic, mechanical hand, at that...a Spikey2 became caught in an icy tornado, freezing solid before it shattered into pieces. But as soon as it did, the Navi's arm dropped to the ground, as though it was completely out of energy.

"I've beaten 500 viruses, but I guess...it wasn't enough..." And since it was just about time, the icy personality looked over, spotting the two Navis. "You two...I am AbsoluteMan of North Netopia, and the NetNavi of one of the area's highest ranked officials...I don't know how much longer I can hold out...please, assist me! I'm afraid that I'm of little use in battle at this point...but I'll try to do what I can..."

A good look at his right arm reveals that a tube from it has become detached on one side, and has fallen to the ground. Why is that significant? Well, it's spewing icy energy all over the ground, and could very well be the cause of the ice terrain. Yep, that's definitely probably why.

=====SPECIAL BATTLE 4, READY=====

=====.....GO!.....=====
Holy... Freya managed, looking at the viruses, scanning for their HP values, before turning to AbsoluteMan, his HP was low and he was completely tired out, unable to move, she formed a barrier around herself. Take it easy AbsoluteMan, you deserve it. Splitman. Freya said, turning to her partner. Better keep him alive you self proclamed healer. she said, turning to the viruses as a splinter shot out from her arm, speeding right at one of the OldHeaters. Or else you won't have a happy ending when this mission is over. She finished, opening a line to her netop.

Jack. Virus names and attacks now. Freya ordered her netop, looking at the viruses with hate. Alright alright...Lets see...Champu, 150 HP and attacks by warping to your spot and attacking with a punch, obviously fire element. HandyEX, 100 HP each, they use timebombs, I'm sure you remember them from your brief busting with Majinman. Jack began as Freya mumbled under her breath, continuing his analysis. SpikeyEX, 140 HP, fast and shoots fireballs. Finally, OldHeater, 130 HP, shoots flames directly ahead. Jack finished, lotting in a couple chips for Freya to use. Aquaneedle1, Thunder1, Guard1. Stay long range and make sure you don't go too fast on the ice. Jack warned Freya, making sure to keep an eye on Freya and the viruses.

Freya, half heartedly nodding, set to work on the viruses, summoning three daggers of water in her hand, each chipped and blunt to all hell. Taking aim at the viruses that she intended to eliminate, she tossed the three at the group of Spikey viruses, each seeming to have a mind of their own, following the viruses movments, though not as quickly as the viruses moved. Following up with her attack, Freya quickly looked over to one of the Spikeies that she had attacked with her Aquaneedles, she quickly formed a ball of electricity in her hand, sending it across the ground towards one of the spikey viruses, slowly moving around the ground and towards the virus, following it's movments, it wouldn't be long before it made a pass at the virus. Forming a shield in front of her, Freya stayed in place, waiting for an attack or for the shield to dissapate, before making a mad dash from behind her defenseand hoping that the ice would help her dodge the viruses.

Splitman viewed the situation with calm blue eyes, mirroring the ice that surrounded him from all sides. Clearly this thing was extremely powerful, clearly it was capable of killing him if it wanted to.

Ah well, time to roll the dice. He summoned all of the surrounding enegy from the location to his aid. Tiny blue whisps of energy gathered and cemented themselves to his skin, like a fire flowing backwards in time. "I will heal you if you agree to do no harm to me and to not interfere with my mission" He said, coldly. He took a moment to process the response before dealing with the problem appropriately.

Next he surveyed the enemy, clearly they were at a disadvantage now, but perhaps he could maintain some minor level of defense to help them out. He considered the situation a moment before realizing that he had one last trick, not that it would likely matter. He gathered the energy from within himself this time, then turned it, wrenching his programming somewhere to the left.

His body responded immediately, as though all the life was being sucked out of him. His flesh withered away, into a taught red skeleton of its former self. Meanwhile his armor fell away at all sides into wisps of cloth, dangling about his estranged form. Meanwhile his arm lurched horribly to the side, growing like some horrible tumor hidden beneath countless layers of tightly wrapped bandages. Split staggered his foot slightly the the side in order to remain upright during the rapid change in mass. Only his eyes remained untouched, still a cool blue reflection of their surroundings.

He reached into his arm and withdrew a single chain and blade, and began swinging it around himself. " Ready to support, next time I will destroy available targets. Meanwhile the blade swept menacingly through the air, searching for someone to wander near and strike.
