Searching for some guy

Sounds like a plan to me. I just want to get this damned box and get the hell out of here. Freya said, responding to her ally, continuing to run after him. If I'd have to chose being in the net version of hell or getting chewed on by some sort of beaver virus...the virus would sound much better than the latter, since I kind of BURN real easily. She continued, making sure she doesn't accedentally step in some sort of fire trap or whatever.
"Oh yeah, that is another thing" Split murmured. "Why the hell do you take on a mission in an oven when you are made out of wood?"

He looked around the area for some sign of the crash before continuing on. The path of the debris seemed to indicate that the crash would be somewhere in the middle of hell, wherever that was.

"Anyway, It just seems like you have intentionally decided to take on a task you are ill-suited to, for some kind of meager gain. Just give me one good reason you decided to do something here, when I am sure the police or some other adjacency would have been willing to send you somewhere else for equivalent gain"
The pace of Split's rambling slowly began to accelerate as there were clearly no enemies in sight. Though they shed no light on their surroundings, Split's eyes flickered a deep blue as he paused a moment to deliberate. Man, this guy following him was slow.
When you have a netop like mine...lets just say that sticking your neck out will keep the police off your ass. I just keep telling myself it's stress testing my passive signatures, since my netop tends to not tell me where I'm going for a mission. Freya lied to Splitman as she turned her torso around, looking out for viruses from behind as she kept running towards splitman. Just keep telling yourself you have a glass cannon for a partner. Freya said before talking again. Also, just for your information, I wasn't always the wooden puppet you see today. she finished, keeping herself occupied with simaltaniously running towards splitman and keeping a look out for viruses that might attack from behind.
"Look, you are slower so you should take the front." Splitman said, as he watched his witless ally attempt to keep up while guarding them. "I can easily travel as fast as you, while backwards. Just concentrate on searching for the crash while moving as fast as possible"

He took the moment to pause and take up the rear. Heh, maybe he could even overtake this guy by running backwards-wait a minute. That last thing he said was kinda odd.

"What do you mean you were always a wooden puppet? I mean, sure you were clearly not ALWAYS what you are today, you have certainly taken on various forms since your genesis, but you can't really mean that you just sorta changed one day" He mused while hopping backwards at an awkward gait. "I mean, your OP can me a wannabe mobster, I understand that, but it isn't as though you simply are able to change forms on a whim. Even I can't do that except on a very temporary basis. Indeed, there are some cases of beings that are able to transform for very extended times thanks to various sources of power, such as the legendary beasts and data-merging techniques, but it seems very unlikely that you would have access to either such ability, and even IN those cases it seems unlikely that you would refer to yourself in such a manner. Indeed these changes I have listed are exclusively temporary, the core archetype that defines each individual independent program will always default to a certain state after excess program loads used in battle-like states have been dropped. If I were to assume that you were ever capable of such changes, it could not be a full program rewrite of yourself as that would go against the key concepts which govern basic artificial existence. Indeed such abilities, I fathom, might open the door for some sort of grand administration entity, but as we represent semi-physical entities with individual backups rooted highly in our physical nature as devices, it seems entirely unlikely that anyone would be able to create such a full rewrite. Alteration of skills is generally a gradually set of abilities or a one-time physical construct, indeed even those especially customizable entities that seem to define us as individuals are truly just limited run semi-mailable physical constructs created from electronic data. If I were you I would avoid such claims that might lead those to get the wrong idea."

"They are very confusing"
And them...BAM! Viruses! What a conversation killer. However, two of the viruses seemed...slightly stronger than the others...now why were they hanging out this far out? Well, that's not going to be determined by sitting around not deleting them...get to it. And come to think of it...that bridge up ahead. Why did it look so...slick?

=====BATTLE TWO, READY=====
---------ICE BRIDGE??----------------
+++++GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!++++++
Split glanced at the enemies, then at the deserting bridge off to the side. The surface looked like it could be used for something....

Yeah, he had a plan. "Follow me" He shouted to his companion. The thought crossed his mind that this was particularly risky for him, but he didn't dwell on that fact. Probably for the best. "Wind, water, group, counter, support" He murmured though his comm. It was easy to forget that he had an operator, somewhere, performing a job in this situations that vaguely mimicked a chip dispenser. Apparently he could also talk, but that feature seemed largely unused as of late. He caught himself chuckling at the idea of himself as a psychotherapist. Probably not the best time for a distraction, but that was besides the point.

He paused a moment to observe his enemies before charging on through. In a single bound he leapt past his incoming foes, towards the ice bridge. That was where step one of his plan began. As he landed on the ice, he began to pull into a slide with to apparent means of stopping. Because of the physics here it seemed he had actually somehow accelerated on the flat plain. Not that it mattered though- with a gesture of his hand a giant fan appeared on the ice in front of him, blocking the path.

The first thing he would have to deal with was those projectile-based enemies. He took a moment to prop himself on top of the fan before taking a single clear shot at the pair of weaker ones. Hopefully that would be enough to take them out. A single click from his transformed limb and a jet of water exploded down the ice slip n' slide, propelled even further by the air current beneath. The warm and cold air rushed past while his hand transformed back, giving the illusion of intense heat.

"Get down" He shouted, semi-enthusiastically, at his teammate - before leaping off of his perch and into his wind tunnel. As he hit the ground a tremendous energy covered his body and propelled him even faster down the slippery path. The result was slightly more intense than anticipated, as Split rocketed down the path with deadly speed, threatening to kill anything that dare make contact.

Unfortunately for them, contact was the first thing on the minds of the little sword-wielding foes. Fortunately for him, it would also be the last.

Forming a green tinged barrier around her body, Freya readied herself for battle. Three spikies and three swordies...all fire element... Freya murmered to herself, a splenter flying off her body towards an enemy, the SpikeyEX as it looked. LRBC... she said, Jack knowing what Freya wanted, ranged battlechips. Slotting in a couple of the usual standbys, Freya began her assault on her enemies.

Holding her palm outwards towards the empowered Spikey virus, taking aim at it briefly, Freya shot out a blast of white hot energy towards it. Hoping I'd hit and splash upon another of her foes, preferably the powered up fire swordy. With her battlechips, Freya could easily be considered some sort of wooden WMD, chuckling at the thought, Freya caught herself.

Quickly following up with her attack, Freya took aim at the same Spikey virus she had attacked earlier, a blue cannon in the shape of a Canodumb virus, formed on her hand. She kept herself mentaly locked onto it, faltering not in the slightest, as she fired a blast of energy from it, a loud blast of an echo sounding out into the surrounding area.

Finishing up her assault on her foes, Freya called upon a chip she had not used as of yet. Summoning a cube into the air that was colored red and blue devided down the middle by a dark line, it began to flash between the two colors, red and blue, Freya didn't wait though, as she began to try and avoid the viruses attacks, should any attack her...that barrier would only be able to stand so much punishment.

SplitMan and Freya got to work immediately, with the former moving over to and past the ice bridge, and the latter putting up protection and shooting off a small piece of herself, which then became part of the SpikeyEX. The elementless Navi then placed a WindBox on the bridge to blow it down, but the bridge was far sturdier than it looked; it held fast. Fortunately, it still performed its usual business of blowing things away. He then proceeded to climb up the fan, getting a better view of his foes.

As he did all this, his wooden partner got to firing into the ranks, via Shotgun and Hi-Cannon. The attacked proved to be as accurate as could be, both shots ripping into the most powerful of the Spikey, though Shotgun's spread proved to merely hit the virus behind it, another Spikey. Not liking this, the main victim of the assault shot a fireball the puppet's way, but in a lucky break, it was shaken enough that the attack veered off course and missed completely.

At this point, SplitMan elected to counter the fiery dogs with the Aqua counterpart to their chips, nailing one with a bubble blast, though the spread wasn't long enough to quite reach the other. Freya also elected to continue the 'hit lots of viruses' mantra, bringing out a DBLCube for the occasion. After a few moments of flicking between two colors, it decided on the color red, wiping out the other Spikey in a flash of light, as well as putting a dent in the Swordy armor.

With victory in sight, the Mafia Navi launched himself with a Fishy at the remaining viruses...however, they weren't about to simply put down their swords and surrender...seeing as how their swords were attached to their hands. One of the Swordy-F warped straight into the path of the DashAttack, and selflessly took the hit. This caused the Navi to go off course slightly, just enough that the other two were saved by the chivalrous act. Not allowing its partner's sacrifice to go in vain, the most powerful of the knights teleported behind SplitMan before he could recover from the attack, and delivered a strong FireBlade to his back.

Not wanting to be upstaged by her partner, Freya's fingertips began to glow a bright green, just as her barrier reformed around her, she plunged her arms into the ground as soon as her hands glowed a bright green. With her arms in the ground, the immediate surroundings all around the battlefield began to disapear, replaced by firtile soil as she struggled to remove her arms from the newly formed soil, both coming out with a "pop" sending her reeling backwards.

Stumbling to her feet after her sudden terrain change, Freya requested her DashAttack battlechip. Moving towards the two remaining viruses, her pase hatening thanks to the soil benieth her, as she rushed towards the duo of sword wielding viruses, as Freya began to go faster and faster as her Dash Attack activating as she barreled towards the viruses, landing on the other side of them, hoping it was enough to delete them.

A lance of pain shot across Split's back
"GOD---DAMN" He shouted out as grabbed the Swordy who had just attacked him. Pain lanced through his body, but somehow that just seemed to add to his strength right now. His eyes flashed a bright crimson and his grip shifted into something one step closer to vice-like. With a twist of his weight he attempted to hurl the meddlesome sword wielder into his ally. The puppet could sort the rest out, he was out.

He began to walk away from the scene, still angry at the events that had transpired. What the hell was split doing anyway, giving him a rageclaw. Bloody moron doing bloody moronic things. 'Oh, he is in close combat, I guess I will give him a USELESS RANDOM CLOSE RANGE WEAPON, VASTLY INFERIOR TO HIS NATURAL CAPABILITIES. Useless operator, useless situation. He attempted to seat himself on the fan, only to find himself falling face first onto the icy bridge. "INFERNAL MACHINE" He shouted out in frustration, taking the wretched device by its steely cage and SMASHING IT AGAINST THE INTERNAL GROUND behind him. This was just not going as he had planned, but he felt better after smashing something.

In a fit of RAGE, SplitMan quickly picked up his attacker and tossed it at the other of its kind, not even noticing the fact the ground beneath him becoming warmer and softer. However, in his haste, he ended up missing with his throw, though the Swordy-FEX still felt the pain of being reunited with the ground. As he healed and awkwardly slipped on dirt, Freya took the initiative, rushing forward with her own DashAttack, and slammed right into the more powerful virus before it could recover from being thrown. The other one, however, managed to AreaGrab out of the way...right into the path of one thrown WindBox. It wasn't the most orthodox method of victory, but the Navis would probably take it.

However, even though it hadn't been there but a minute, the soil seemed to be rapidly heating up...it might be wise to not dawdle in the area.
Grabbing the rewards for her and uploading them to Jack's PET, Freya quickly began to search for the plane, it shouldn't be that far at this point.

(battle 3)
Split glanced at his ally before continuing on, kicking the dirt in his path with the last vestige of his rage. Worthless punk wouldn't even answer a question before animals with swords came crawling out from the woodwork.
"Comeon, we should get moving before this dirt becomes magma. As soon as we hit solid normal panels we will know that the ground beneath us isn't going to turn into fire at any moment." He shouted to his ally.

This mission was running a little bit smoother than he had expected, but considering his missions normally went as smooth as sandpaper, perhaps that wasn't so odd.
(+2 FXP for the previous battle, since I kinda didn't mention it earlier.)

Oddly enough, the Normal terrain SplitMan wanted to see didn't appear at any point. In fact, as soon as they stepped off of the soil, the ground became ice cold. That...could not be natural. As evidenced by that virus group over there trying to smash it up. On the plus side, some very unnatural smoke could be seen in the distance. Looked like they weren't too far now.

...Wait, virus group? And they've noticed you, since viruses have a really bad sense of timing like that. Looks like you've got a little business to take care of before you can take care of business.

Feeling the cold set in on her legs, Freya realised hell...had frozen over. Then she saw the viruses, four surrounded by auras, three as black as the night. The HP values for all seven viruses didn't help matters at all. Freya considered briefly to change the terrain to something more suitable for her and Splitman. She nodded to herself as she went with her plan.

Her arms glowed a bright green as a barrier surrounded her body, as soon as her magic was prepped and ready to change the terrain, Freya broke through the ice and dug her arms into the paneling below it, a pulse of energy stimulated the surrounding area, the ice melting as firtile soil began to replace it, with the same "pop" noise as she forced her arms out of the ground, sending her to her back.

Quickly getting up, Freya summoned a trio of wooden daggers between her fingers, dull they may be, but they were sharp enough to pierce the black hides of the nightmare viruses. Bringing her arm back, Freya brought it towards a Nightmare, sending the daggers flying towards it at a high speed. Freya promptly darted from her position, in a, probably futile, attempt to evade the enemies attacks...her barrier wasn't going to survive for long.

Split looked at the situation before cursing himself. He was screwed.

He readied himself for an attack on his enemies, preparing himself for some kind of chip download.

Then he received the Heatshot, and all of his troubles began to multiply. His left arm transformed into the generic fire-based weapon, and he watched as the fire-based enemies moved in upon him. This was not a useful selection. Instead of firing directly at the enemies he cursed Chad and aimed below them at the ice, hoping to send them plunging into the resulting water.

He glanced again at the remaining enemies, this may well have been the only time he had ever seen sufficient enemies that a spreader would make sense, but instead they just had to be covered in Auras. Instead of anything useful, he received a Mine. The weapon MIGHT just be something resembling useful against this number of enemies. As he deployed it randomly on the field he cursed his ally for changing the advantageous terrain into something more agreeable with their enemies.
"Really, you couldn't leave the ICE terrain when fighting FIRE based enemies?" He shouted at his ally, who clearly was more interested in some minor personal advantage than truly bettering the situation. Split glanced around at the next chip - a guard2. At least it appeared that Chad had acknowledged that the situation was a bad one and provided some modicum of defense.

Split himself took advantage of his natural speed to advance towards his ally. Maybe he could at least take some hits for him.

As Freya set about turning the terrain into something completely different, SplitMan began his attacking with a HeatShot at the shadowy viruses...however, one of the Megalian quickly got in front of them and shot its head forward, which directly hit the fiery shotgun blast. While this stunned the virus into retracting its attack, the combined heat of the opposing forces heated the soft earth below, creating a...less than hospitable area for the Navis.

After all the changing of the ground below, what better thing to do...than use the altered floor to attack? That appeared to be the elementless Navi's line of thought, as he placed land mines randomly throughout the battlefield. But exactly where, even he couldn't say. Afterward, and after moving in front of the puppet Navi, he put up a red shield, prepared for the counterattack. Deciding on a slightly more direct approach, the wooden Navi tossed a few splinters at a Nightmare, who made no attempt to dodge...and was genuinely shocked when the wood shards stuck in it, as though it was solid.

As it appeared the Navis had stopped, a couple of viruses decided to strike. Another Megalian attempted its ranged headbutt attack, breaking SplitMan's shield and smacking him. It tried to move on to Freya, but her evasive maneuvers were good enough to easily escape in time, even on short notice. A Nightmare then tried to slice the Navis up with its sword arm, but the mafia Navi sidestepped it, and the puppet was already out of range.

...Hmm? That's strange...the small area of Coal on the field seemed to be getting a bit bigger...or was that just the Navis' imaginations?

Split looked at the situation in front of him and cursed himself quietly. This infernal mission had clearly brought him to the point of oblivion once again. Softly softly and on and on it once again went instead again and brought him to a place where he was doomed to die. Over and over the words streamed like wallpaper across his head, thoughts, deadly thoughts, pleasant thoughts, useless thoughts. Thoughts about how the shields he had relied upon were useless, thoughts about how he was going to die, thoughts about how every one of these pathetic little things was going to be going down with him if he had a damn thing to say about it.

A ringlog, lovely a freaking log, a useless sack of brown and green, for him to throw at those still asleep because of some pathetic useless idea that came across a fool in some sort of trade forum in the distance that he had to rely on.

Splt gripped the tree that appeared beside him, fingers biting into the wood - eyes flashing red, and voice bellowing in some sort of vicious shout that sounded like someone else crying off in the distance. Crying that they might die. Like these things in front of him. He swung the shaft of wood like a giant makeshift club, the wood felt light in his hands even though its size was massive. The wood dragged across the ground, somehow feeding on it, as though it was trying to make sense of the laws that brought trees into existence from beyond reality and made bubbles explode in deadly cascade. His first swing seemed to aim itself, aim itself at the group of swordsmen in front of him. Had they moved or had he? It was inconsequential.

He took a step forward, and the step carried him, moved him, whisked him away in front of his separate target. Larger, more powerful, deadlier still. The enemies rushed into focus as he hefted the tree in one hand and swung it about with improbable force. The tree shot out like a bullet from his hand as his mind finished connecting to the situation at hand. Somewhere in the back of his mind he realized that this was not a desirable situation to be in. Somewhere further back still, he realized that he didn't care.

He gripped his arm tightly as it turned into some sort of unusual weapon. A spear of some sort, an impractical thing. Forged from water worse yet, some sort of pathetic excuse for a thing that might want to exist in this world. He eyed the weapon cautiously and took a step back from his enemies. It appeared this might take some time before it was functional.

Watching the terrain fume and burn away from her stupid fucking idea to turn the terrain to soil so she wouldn't have to slip and slide and miss her attacks on the ice. Fuck. Me. Freya mumbled under her breath...watching as the Coal terrain had begun to cover the area, burning away her precious Soil terrain. Fire Knife, Jack. she said to the sky, getting her chip data without delay.

A splinter shot out from her arm, right at one of the Nightmare viruses, she knew it wouldn't hurt them, but perhaps it would change the terrain under it to make it easy prey for her next attack. Dashing off to the weakened Nightmare, her arm began to glow a soft read, turning her hand into a small bladed weapon as flames began to flicker along the blade, nearing her target, she jumped towards it and slashed at it, hoping her blade would manage to pierce the shadows that covered the enemy.

Turning to the enemy she had attacked moments ago with her splinter, Freya took desisive aim at it mentally, her weapon begging to slash through the dark hide of the virus, she made another dash, this time towards another of the Shadows.

Her weapon scraping along the ground, she jumped at it, high in the air, she came down upon it and slashed at it downwards, moving quickly she went to the side and slashed at it again, hoping to fell the virus so she would only have one major target left, she would let Splitman take care of the Megalian viruses for the time being. Jumping backwards, making sure to not step on the coals that grew and grew off of her soil, she began to run a wide circle around the remaining Nightmare, she would quell it, one way or another.
