    RE: Soul Calibur IV
So many of you probably have heard enough to confirm it yourselves, but I have some pictures that confirm it too now. Basically, for anyone who doesn't know, the armor break system is supposed to punish players for being too defensive (and presumably or hopefully just guarding too much, not countering, but at least for the guarding). It's divided into three parts of armor: head, upper, and lower.

    Here's some images:

I'm just wondering: WHAT TO BREAK OFF OF IVY AND VOLDO? Sure, maybe like Ivy's shoulder pad or Voldo's knee pads, but if Xianghua's losing her whole jacket, I shudder to think of worst case scenarios here.

On another note, for those interested in the Star Wars aspect: there's a playable stage that's the Star Destroyer's docking bay, and it even has the Imperial March music on it. XD

    RE: A Warrior's True Environment!
"Well damn. These guys are a little wimpier looking than I expected. I thought your spirits were supposed to burn with fire! It's like they're all so..." he grumbled, rubbing his chin moodily before finishing his sentence, "...normal."

Rania nodded, making an attempt at visually verifying the identities of the three viruses but finding she'd yet to encounter the majority of them. "You can't always pick your battles, MeleeMan. If you're so eager to get to strong opponents, you should finish these ones off quickly."

"Heh. I'm not that stupid. Just because I like constant battle doesn't mean that I want to fight slowly. Rather than savoring the individual battle, I like to think that my pleasure is found in a non-stop flow of endless challenges by my inferior opponents," MeleeMan explained, feeling proud of himself for being able to put his feelings into such superior sounding words.

He was annoyed to find that his operator had basically ignored the explanation and had instead turned to picking out chips for him to use. "Alright, here's a nice one. We're going to try out your new kunai chips," Rania decided, slotting in the chip for him.

"Kunai? What's that? Aw dammit!" he grunted, holding the ninja weaponry between two of his greatly oversized fingers. "These things are puny. What the hell do I do with them? It's like tossing butter-knives or something equally ineffective and lacking in terms of masculinity!"

Rania laughed, giving him a sly look. "You must not realize the killer implementations of the weapons you're holding there, MeleeMan," she sighed, shrugging her shoulders coolly. "Those are the blade weapons used by ninjas, masters of stealth and assassination! No blade has greater throwing ability or more practical ability for concealment."

"Or, I could not act on that ridiculous, unmanly suggestion and instead opt to use these babies as punching daggers. Haha!" he growled, running in towards one of the Melodies with his fist held above his head. "Smash!" the giant navi roared, arcing his arm downward to crush his foe with the blades held between his fists.

Rania would ordinarily have laughed in good humor at his usage of the weapon, but she'd had her heart set utterly on seeing MeleeMan do something cool and ninja-like, so instead she simply felt ashamed and embarrassed. "That's not how you use kunai at all! That's not even how you use a punching dagger!" she exclaimed furiously.

The navi simply laughed. "Rania, please concentrate for now and send me more weaponry, okay?" he chuckled. "Firehits would be good."

"Firehits it is then," she sighed, slotting in her navi's favorite chips. "Next battle, can we please try out your new tankcannon? And can you try not to use it just like you use everything else, but, you know, put some strategy into it instead?"

"Maybe, Rania. Maybe," MeleeMan laughed under his breath, rushing in to pummel his opponents with his ignited gauntlets.

    A Warrior's True Environment!
MeleeMan wondered into the steamy terrain, sweating underneath his heavy black jacket and armored gauntlets, but relishing the sweltering heat. "Ah.... This is the stuff. After being thrown into Sharo twice and that stuffy Electown Net all the time, this kind of air is refreshing. It's what a man like me needs: stimulating air filled with the sweat and toil of battle! I wonder what kind of opponents I'll find to duke it out with here?"

"They're only viruses, MeleeMan, don't get too excited. I don't think you're likely to meet your life's rival or anything," Rania sighed.

MeleeMan also frowned disappointedly, but then went on to think about the previous statement. "My life's rival... Rania, isn't there some kind of person in your school you consider a rival? Like, Abella or whatever her name was? She's kind of like a rival, right?"

Rania shook her head and laughed amusedly. "No, no!" she responded, shaking her hands in front of her to quickly disillusion her navi. "Amelie and I aren't rivals or anything. She's my best friend! We do all sorts of things together, like kendou and fighting and boxing and every other activity that I participate in at school."

"And... you don't compete in any of that?"

"Of course not, because I'm the best! I don't actually 'compete,' really, ha ha ha!" Rania laughed as if it was some sort of matter of fact.

MeleeMan smiled and kept quiet. "Yeah, definitely rivals," he affirmed with an astute nod of his head, walking forward into the net.

    RE: The Firebrand Residence
Returning home, Rania quickly dressed into her pajamas and readied herself for the night ahead.

Within the span of a single sleepless night, Rania and MeleeMan faced their toughest opponents yet, meeting new allies and testing their abilities like never before. When it was all over, MeleeMan achieved the only prize he could have hoped for: survival in what was set to be recorded in history as an event that nearly destroyed all balances of power within the very net. Rubbing her eyes tiredly, Rania reflected upon the events with a sort of dazed, dream-like feeling, then sunk into slumber as the sun rose.

MeleeMan, though frustrated over the loss of many good allies, silently praised himself for once over a job well done. As much as he liked fighting, order in moderation was not such a bad thing to have on the net.

Awakening and greeting her grandfather, speedily devouring her breakfast despite her previous lack of rest, Rania bolted up and headed out onto to do some netbattling. The excitement of the previous night was hot in her mind as she sprinted out the door to the nearest public net terminal in the park. "Well, I'm thinking the viruses around here are actually a little weak for your current level of power," Rania told her navi, frowning as she realized she was only feeding his ego.

"Well, I'm glad you realize this, but it's nothing new. These viruses have always been laughable opponents for me. I've yet to find a challenge worthy of my limitless strength!" MeleeMan guffawed, grinning widely. His expression quickly settled back into a stoic frown, however, and he crossed his arms across his chest concernedly. "But honestly, we're running out of opponents challenging enough for me to waste my time on, which is why I've considered..." he paused for a moment, bringing up an advertisement for an action flick on her monitor.

"A-A movie? You want to see a movie with me?" Rania asked, her eyes widening in surprise as she was caught off guard.

MeleeMan laughed rudely, shaking his head. "Dream on. No, my concern is this: the manly are only made more manly by fighting in the jungle. Observe this man: an epitome of manliness equal almost to myself, as visible from his physique and the laborious scars of his battle. Certainly the jungle is the most harsh, intense environment for him to fight his opponents in, and can only tone his body further!" he informed her, smiling as if he'd stumbled upon a really revolutionary idea.

Rania sighed, plugging him into the net. "Netfrica it is then. I hope you're up for it."

RE: Rania Goes to the Carnival
Hastening as if her life depended on it, Rania got changed into her red carnival jacket, enjoying the comfy fit over the black undershirt and pants. "Well, finally, I can enjoy the carnival in peace," she sighed. Living up to her expectations, the carnival provided her with fun for her friends for many long hours. Suien was sadly forgotten in the commotion until a later date.

Pleased with her outing, Rania made a fast-track back to her house on the metroline. Little could she have suspected the event that would rock the stability of the entire net that very night and how MeleeMan would become involved in it...

    RE: High Pressure Relaxation
"Well, that was manly Rass, even if all in a sort of childish, marketable way. I think I'm going to back out for now. It seems Rania's clothes, er, ticket out... that is to say, she's ready to leave," MeleeMan sighed. "As much as I'd love to continue to fight the forces of evil on the net, our quest for justice remains for another time. Adios!" he saluted coolly, before disappearing from the net.

Rania sighed, glad to hear from Adelie that her grandfather had arrived with the outfit she needed for the carnival. "Thank you God! Just in time," she murmured, scampering out of the water as discreetly as she could and jumping for her towel. In a frenzy of motion, she barreled out of the room, as if more concerned about her embarrassment from being seen without proper carnival attire than being seen in only a bath towel.

Sadly, that evening with Suien was to be entirely forgotten until some time later in her hectic state.

    The story so far...

It has been only a few years since the standard balance of the demons' realm was set awry by the assassination of one known as the most powerful overlord in existence; this "Lord of all Overlords," believed invincible, was brought down by another being of even greater power. Supposedly, this assassin has now inherited the title of "Lord of all Overlords" for slaying the former. The big debate, however, is as to just who is currently the supreme overlord. The assailant, who left only a cryptic note signed "Crises," was never identified; suspicions were high and speculations ran wild (generating oodles of cash flow for TV stations netherworld-wide) as to who was now the big cheese.

Time passed, showing no further sign that Crises had any intention of taking the spot. Despite the fact that every oracle and their 10000-year-old grandma continued to claim that a hidden individual in some obscure netherworld was the most truly powerful individual, the assassination and former Lord of All Overlords faded from everyone's mind. What was abundantly apparent was that this was a great opportunity for the growth and expansion of any netherworld that wished to grub itself some land, as the former supreme overlord's land was now largely up for grabs. This land was quickly pawned off to some very influential demons, allowing them to become major contenders in the race to become supreme overlord.

Yet more time passed. Demons across the netherworld were shocked to discover that "Crises" was no more; apparently, there was a new, although still unidentifiable and vague, supreme power. Each recognizing that there were six major powers which had grown at amazing rates and found special footholds in the former supreme overlord's domain, these powers set to fighting amongst themselves to establish dominance. The result was, amazingly, largely a standstill between the powers.

This is where you come in. What better time to get in on the profit yourself then now? Take this opportunity to wipe out your equals and challenge your betters! Grow into a power that can rival the six dominant overlords. If you wish to grab the title of "Lord of All Overlords" and boast your netherworld as the greatest, you've got some catching up to do.

This roleplaying forum, made by our very own AimMan and Heat Sonata, is based on Nippon Ichi's Disgaea and Makai Kingdom. It works with a system based on their old forum, if anyone remembers it, and isn't that hard if you're used to the systems here on RERN. Aim, Heat and me can help you through the process of learning how to get into the RP easily and even on how YOU can create a BAD-ASS OVERLORD.
You do not have to know anything of the game... Look at me, I'm a PS2 retard and have never played this game. But I still got one of the coolest Overlords on the forum there.
So once again... JOIN NOW AND EVEN YOU CAN BECOME A BAD-ASS OVERLORD. WILL YOU BECOME THE LORD OF OVERLORDS!?

Also... Your character can even be a humanoid hippo or a pink pony... How awesome is that? No limits!

    LOOK MOM! IT'S A REVIVAL!

Since it's been about one or two months, I'm advertising Makai again, and seeing as we have new members, I thought some of them might be interested in checking us out. A thorough introduction to Makai is given above, and things are explained in greater detail at our site. Please consider joining if you've got an interest in trying new RPs.

Note that while the site is themed around Nippon Ichi's Disgaea and Makai Kingdom series, you need no prior knowledge of the games to RP here, as the plot line and characters are all original.

    RE: Meleeman and Crushman
"Breaker! Wh-What the hell?! There's no way he took out Breaker that easily!" MeleeMan growled, sliding backward away from the strange navis that had taken center-stage upon the battlefield. The navis looked nearly unscratched and both very powerful, so he imagined that they must be a fair degree stronger than anyone else who'd shown up thus far, even those equipped with dark chips. "Dammit! Breaker's gone and all of my other allies have split. Should I be gone too?"

"It's true, MeleeMan, I've lost contact with Charles completely. That new armored navi must be extremely powerful to delete him, especially considering that your ally was still so healthy before the attack. We'd better approach this carefully... I'm not sure whether I want you getting involved at all, actually," she said nervously, looking at the huge navi that had broken from the ground.

"What, you serious? I'm not stepping aside for some girl to do everything for me. I'm already indebted to her for helping me to avoid that blast, there's no way I'm letting her push me aside and take this guy for herself. After all, I've got to avenge Breaker, don't I?" he defended, adopting a ready stance.

Rania shook her head, but placed the folder back into her lap all the same. "Vengeance is never a proper motivation for fighting, and even then, I don't see why it has to be you who deletes him. I couldn't do anything further to stop you right now save cutting your supply of chips, and that really wouldn't help any one." Sighing, Rania prepared to send her navi the chip data.

"That Boss Oni guy is supposed to be tough... but Syne seems to be a Netpolice officer. Hmph. Save the day? Does she even realize all that 'saving the day' would entail in this situation?" he grumbled. Moving forward, he nodded to express his intention of working together with her. "Regardless, I don't care if you're some justice bimbo or whatever. For now we'll work together and destroy that guy."

"We've actually got a bigger problem right now. Take a look around the field," Rania commented, pointing around on her screen at the water that covered the battlefield, forgetting that her navi wouldn't be able to see the motion. "There's a lot of water. Besides all of that, there's unstable spots and even open holes."

"Wow, no duh," Meleeman sighed. "Not like some huge fat guy just popped out and broke a giant hole in the floor or anything."

Rania adopted an unamused frown, fishing through the folder for something fitting the situation. "Well, obviously, you've got to avoid the water, but if you think about it, there's also ways to use it to our advantage. If you can just tap back into those forms you achieved from busting alongside Rass or Seraphim, then you can overcome them entirely."

MeleeMan shook his head, then crossed his arms in a matter-of-fact way. "Utterly impossible. That power seems to be exhausted right now. I mean, I'm still damn charismatic, but I can't get that back right now," he admitted.

"Very well then, the next best option is to consider using thunder type attacks while staying off the water. That means that the magbolts out of the question right now. Instead, I'd like you to consider combining the bubble battle chip with the power of a thunder attack. Don't try to be fancy right now or you're certain to wind up worse off for it, okay?" she inquired, slotting in the two chips.

"What? I'm fricking MeleeMan and you're telling me not to fight my enemies close-range?" the navi growled, accepting the chip data all the same.

Rania frowned, resting her chin moodily upon the pillow. "Well come on, you don't want to get surrounded, do you? There's five enemies right now. You need to reserve some of your energy for dodging their attacks, and that will be much harder if you're surrounded by water as well or happen to fall through a hole."

"Fine, but hey, you gotta let me do more than this, okay? At least send me a heatshot cannon or something," he grumbled, firing off the bubbles she'd sent him unenthusiastically. Rania consented unhappily, slotting in the heatshot as well. "That'll be fine then," he nodded, looking for a stable spot to stand, his eyes unseen behind the heavy iron eye-mask of his helmet.

Walking cautiously, he found what seemed like a good spot to stand. Testing it briefly with his foot, he braced his knees and clenched his hands forward. With a small grunt, he launched forward a ball of electricity from his gloves towards the ninjas. Shaking off his hands a bit as though to dispel the static, he prepared himself for the heatshot.

Smiling, he enjoyed the feeling of warmth as the heat ran through his gauntlet. The glove slimmed out, the fist retracting to form a barrel at the end. "Now, for one more shot, then it's time to see what these things are made of," he grunted, firing off a blast of flames and then retreating a short distance to see what would happen. "I can't believe this... Me, on the sidelines, while some chick does all of my fighting for me? This wasn't how I imagined things going..."

    1) Dodge (try to get onto anything but hole or water)
    2) BubbleStar1 to Red Ninja, Blue Ninja, and Yellow Ninja [20 water trap in bubble]
    3) Thunder1 to Blue Ninja [40 elec, 1 action stun]
    4) Heatshot to Green Ninja and splash to Boss Oni [50 fire]
    5) Dodge

"Dammit... I wasn't able to do much of anything in the long run, eh Rania? I've saved a few, but this war's going to reduce the Netpolice to nothing if this keeps up... Not to mention the mafia," he said, curling his lip into a slightly distasteful sneer and looking back at Xiao. "I'm still worried about Shine and Kunie too, and Punct looks like she's been through a virtual meat-grinder. It'd be better for everyone if someone just stayed back and guarded her. We're headed into some dangerous stuff now. I can feel it."

"Don't worry too much about it, MeleeMan. She knows the danger she's in, and honestly, she'd probably be less safe back there isolated than she would be traveling along with you guys," Rania reassured him, lying back down on her pillow and keeping the PET next to her face. She surprised herself with how casual she managed to remain, but the bed was feeling very comfortable, so she allowed herself briefly to sink her face into the soft pink pillow.

MeleeMan grinned, coughing into one hand for a moment, then looking back up. "You look just like a little kid, Rania. Don't try to tell me you're almost... eighteen," he laughed, gritting his teeth for a moment.

Rania smiled back at him, but inside, she was panicking as she came to a revelation. "This battling's probably put too much stress on him. Not only did he have his strong body broken just now with an opposing force equal to his very own power, but further more, he's had to deal with a lot of loss throughout all of this. Hang in there, MeleeMan..."

"What's with that face? Did you wet yourself?" he asked, keeping his face turned away from her as if he were asking the question seriously.

Rania frowned again, putting the pillow back over her face as though in disgust to hide a laugh. "Well, at least he's keeping up his good humor," she sighed.
