As the mushroom approached Rayner was surprised to find it was taking him up on his offer. Sure it was hopeful and needed help, but normally he reserved his urge to help the helpless for Navis and humans, not viruses. Ah well, his last mission had seen him working with someone who had proven more than competent so perhaps he shouldn't be surprised at the fact he had an overabundance of helping needs to work through. The Navi sighed and dispelled his arm cannon and the claws that still existed on his hand. He brought his hands up to a little pop-up interface and began pressing buttons. An address string of blue text appeared on the interface and then pulled itself free and floated over to the Mushy, it'd only take a nudge and the link would send the virus off to the Zoo. "Go on and get out of here."
Once the virus accepted the link and disappeared the Navi would attend to the spoils of food fighting. "Battle's over Joan, reshuffle your chip piles!" Rayner called, turning from where the Mushy had been to survey the remaining data scattered around the counter tops. He could spy the remaining RedFruit on the far wall, but he didn't really want to go all the way over there. He did have to find his scarf though, and a quick scan of the battlefield found it laying in a heap with data clinging to its surface. A short jog brought Rayner over to grab and end and fling the scarf up, dislodging the data and scattering it over head. Rayner watched the data reach the peak of its ascent, and then begin to fall right back down to cling to the scarf in his hands. Rayner hmm'd a bit and then reached out with his claw, spreading the fingers wide and hovering it just over the data field of his scarf. Normally his claw was a greedy chip data hog but maybe if he pushed a little current down and concentrated....
"Aha!" Rayner was quite pleased with himself as the data started streaming from scarf into claw, and from there to the PET's sorting routines and data compiler. An internal alert drew his attention to some of the data being shuffled from the Zenny routines to the chip routines. "Slot a blank chip in too please~" Rayner was quite pleased as the PET's library list updated the number of owned chips and he spared a quick look at the stats of the new chip, pulling it up in transparent window ahead of him. He gave a satisfactory nod at what he saw, a powerful healing chip with a quirk he'd have to watch out for but perhaps he could play off that...?
Tapping his mask thoughtfully Rayner walked to the door the Mushy had been tryint to slip through earlier, scarf flung lazily over his shoulder as ideas for diversions bounced in his head and drove the thought of heading back to one of the other RedFruits from his head.

Free of the cookery department, the hall Rayner was in carried him to a small antechamber, then out into the fresh air. a neat gravel path led to an open brick structure, fitted with artful blocks in a wave pattern along the top two rows. The main entryway had a lockable metal turnstile that was currently open and free to move, and beyond, a long, deep pool in the traditional olympic style. A dive tower rose over one side of the deep end, and the lane dividers were rolled up out of the water, leaving the pool itself free.
On the other side of the pool, a set of change blocks marked for boys and girls formed part of the retaining fence, though they also seemed to connect, on the other side, to a gym-like structure. They probably acted as a pass-through to both areas.
Of immediate concern to Rayner, however, was not the change rooms, but the pool area itself. Three piranha seemed to have adopted the pool for themselves, and were swimming back and forth at a great pace, while a lone DemonEye perched on what one might suppose was the lifeguard's chair, scanning back and forth over the water. Close to the edge of the pool, on the far side, a number of deck chairs were laid out in the sun, and two Snoozy, well, snoozed on them, soaking up the sunlight. Near the entrance to the girl's change rooms, a single little metool was dithering about. It had a fluffy towel folded up where one might normally expect to see a pickaxe, and a small pink bow on the top of its helmet. It moved towards the change-room entrance, then paused and looked back, like it had forgotten something. It moved back the way it had come a few paces, before stopping again, shaking itself, and setting the towel down, beginning to unroll it to see if everything it needed was still folded up inside.
So engrossed in trying to make sure she had everything, the bow-wearing metool was completely oblivious to Rayner, and also to the manner in which the three Piranha reared up in the water, making threatening sounds at the navi and revealing their tridents. The excessive splashing startled the Snoozys to wakefulness, enough to make them start up and flail about for a moment, upending their deckchairs and crashing them into the others. The result was two Snoozys huddled within a hastily built deck-chair barricade fort, peeking out from a gap in the top to see what sort of strange and startling invasion was spoiling their nap. The DemonEye also perked up a bit. Rising up slightly to face in Rayner's direction properly.

Gravel crunched under Rayner's feet as he stepped from the antechamber to the path. The nearly continuous change of scenery was a nice change from the flat green walls of his Pet. Maybe he could talk Joan into speaking to the more technology inclined at school and have someone whip up some new surroundings for him. A bed would be nice, maybe a chair and a table. He could even have a picture!
Lost in his own thoughts he wandered into the main pool area, not really paying attention until he heard the clatter of deck chairs beings thrown into a fort. With a quick blink of the eyes on his mask Rayner looked around to assess the situation. The Piranhas drew his attention first by virtue of their movement, the DemonEye was next. Rayner quickly hailed Joan. "Have encountered viruses, need chips please."
"Incoming, are you enjoying yourself?" She seemed more interested than before as he heard and felt a couple of chips being clicked into the PET. He flexed his mechanical claw and kept his eyes on the viruses as his claw formed into the familiar Cannon shape.
"Oh you know, just trying to avoid getting splashed at the pool." Rayner replied in a downright sing-songy tone of voice. He raised his arm, aimed, and fired a bullet of force towards one of the Piranhas. He decided to not stick around for their reaction, instead he took careful steps to the side, keeping an eye on the remaining fish and looking to dodge their attacks. The Cannon on his arm shifted, flame spewing out of small vents along the upper area. He waited, his eyes flashing once as the green cursors appeared and tracked. He raised his arm, considered his opponents, and aimed at the fish-viruses again. A blast of fire jumped from the barrel of the gun towards the Piranhas that he hadn't been aiming at before.
Maybe he'd be able to just wipe these viruses off the map without any silly displays of cute. Maybe he'd also get some fried fish in the ordeal.

1) Cannon 60 + Knockback @ Piranha A ( A + Marksmanship)
2) Dodge
3) Heatshot 40 fire + Spread 1 @ Prianha B + C ( A + Marksmanship)

Eager to clear the pool of its aquatic inhabitants quickly, Rayner took the first initiative, blasting a canon shot directly into the face of the Piranha dead centre of the pool. It was an easy shot for the marksman, and made all he easier by the Piranha, along with its allies, holding still while they all took proper aim on their target. The shot crashed into the virus, crumpling up the trident in its open mouth and blasting clear through in a way that threw the fish back to the edge of the pool before it began to disintegrate. A large spray of water splashed up and over the lifeguard's chair, soaking the DemonEye, but then something peculiar happened. The floating eyeball's colours started to run as the water washed off it, quickly revealing that, as well as pretending to be a life guard when it wasn't, this particular virus had also been pretending to be more powerful that it was, with a poorly applied coat of water paints. It was not, in fact, a DemonEye after all, but it's far less sturdy, less powerful relative, a simple KillerEye. Unaware that its ruse was blown, it blinked once in Rayner's direction, then emitted a thin laser trip beam towards him, causing the line to fall just in front of his feet, passing off to the navi's right.
The other two Piranhas achieved their lock and prepared to fire, seemingly unperturbed by the swift removal of one of their own, but Rayner wasn't finished with them just yet. His second shot sent a scorching blast of fire towards the nearest piranha, aiming at him from the shallow end, and this one, too, struck its mark. Badly scorched, the fish writhed for a few moments, but it didn't waver its target lock, on him. There was a faintly delicious smell of cooking fish in the air, though. The spread of the blast wave wasn't nearly great enough to reach anything else, but despite watching the virus-blasting violence going on outside their little fort, the Snoozys apparently felt bold enough to try their own special brand of anti-navi diplomacy.
As one, they both teleported out from their hiding space, swinging their large, fluffy-looking pillows at Rayner with great zeal. By chance of timely co-ordination, Rayner's neat dodge of the first flailing pillow put him right in the path to receive the second one square to the face. It was soft and fluffy and squishy, and all around probably the most soothing and comfortable attack he'd felt in a while. So pleasant, in fact, that it only too a few moments for the snooze-inducing elements of the pillow to sap him of will and send the poor navi into a peaceful, albeit very shallow, sleep (-15). Peace-talks ended for now, The two snoozys teleported back behind their fragile-looking barricade, to watch and see what else transpired.
At the other end of the pool, on the far side, the little metool finished unrolling its towel, to reveal a single Met-yellow bathing cap, with the proper green cross marking on it. The viruses eyes made little happy arches for a moment, before, contented that nothing had been forgotten, she quickly rolled the towel back up and turned to continue on towards the change room door, still oblivious to everything else going on.

Water splashed with Rayner's first hit but he spared only a moment for the lifeguard whose ruse had been rendered as useless as a white t-shirt on a rainy day. While the Navi would probably be relieved, he was busy lightly toasting a fish and then he suddenly had to contend with the surprise attack by the two viruses he had not realized were in residence. He dropped his arm as it changed back from gun to claw and twisted away from the first surprise pillow hit. He stepped back in preparation to, well, probably dodge again but all his fancy footwork served to do was put him directly in the path of the second Snoozy's attack. Rayner froze with his face buried in soft comfortable fabric, the eyes on the mask dropping from wide-eyed excitement to barely open drowsiness as the Navi's body abruptly relaxed all at once, sending him crashing to the ground.
Rayner opened his eyes again shortly after, sitting up and rubbing his hand from one eye over the bridge of his nose to the other to remove the last of the pesky sleep sand that seemed to have materialized during his nap. The light seemed to be reflecting off the pool for the sole purpose of getting in his eyes and he quickly shielded his eyes with the hand that had been rubbing them, reaching up with his right hand to pull down the skull-shaped mask that had been resting atop his hair. It was only a moment for the mask's programs to kick in, appearing as twin dots of bright green that glowed to life in each empty 'socket' on the front of the mask. Inside the mask seemed to turn transparent as the inner layer brightened considerably with the image of Rayner's surroundings. The inside was just as bright as the outside for a moment, then the view dimmed to more comfortable levels. A couple of smaller windows popped up over the image, one reading the damage the Navi must have taken during his nap. With a groan he staggered to his feet.
"Are you always this slow of a riser? If so, remind me we shouldn't get involved." Rayner's head jerked around first to find the source of the sound, his body following a fraction after when his neck couldn't quite twist all the way back. There was a female Navi laying on her stomach on a beach towel behind him, she was propped up on one arm and eyeing him with obvious amusement. She looked to have been designed with snakes as an inspiration, twin patches of golden scales covered her cheek bones below her slit-pupil eyes. More scales made a shimmery path from the base of her neck to end of her spine, right below the shimmery bikini bottom that hugged the curves of her frame. Amusingly enough despite having a reptilian flavor to her design, the Navi possessed a rather large pair of mammary traits that were currently pushed together against her arm. These were also tightly hugg by the shimmery fabric of her bikini and the gleam of her well-oiled skin was much more obvious up close. Rayner's eyes were well hidden behind the mask so the direction of his gaze wasn't obvious but the snake lady smiled, an expression that showed off the thin-needle like pair of fangs she possessed in a very smug fashion. "What'ss the matter newbie? Sstuck on ssomething?"
Rayner swallowed and then cracked a smile and tore his eyes up to her face. He stood up and reached a hand out towards her. "Nah, just waiting for you to get warmed up. I know you cold-blooded types have it even worse than I do when it comes to being slow to start." He winked and the mask mirrored the action. She smirked and reached up to use his offered hand to pull herself to her feet, opening her mouth to speak.
"Well? You like her?" Rayner spun his heels to face the voice, lowering the barrel of the rifle to the ground and removing his finger from the trigger as he moved. Just behind him was a male Navi with a large frame, a barrel chest, and a booming but friendly voice that parted mustache and beard when it was spoken. The mustache curved up as Rayner nodded, taking the steps necessary to bridge the gap to the table standing on the grass where he laid the rifle down and took a small step back. The other Navi ran his large hands over the weapon and smalls strings of data rose in the wake. Rayner pushed his mask up to rest on top of his brown hair again, his eyes meeting the merchant's.
"Yeah, I must admit that would be nice to have as my buster. I think my NetOp's going to go for something a little more custom though." He gave the rifle another appreciative look and nod before looking up again. "I do appreciate you allowing me to try it out though."
Is no problem. Some people are big fans of doing it all themselves. Some people just make a custom Navi and then go 'oh, now what I do for weapon system?' You though, I think your NetOp will go all the way. I can tell by design, he is type who likes to tinker ya?" The merchant paused in disassembling the rifle to gesture towards Rayner's legs where the vertical marquees of bright green words was currently going through the verses of some recently popular songs. Rayner grinned and turned to leave the stand.
"Thanks for everything, and farewell!" The Elec-type began walking away to the shortcut that'd take him from the merchant's homepage back to the Net side of the technology fair taking place in downtown DenCity. He hopped on the portal, thought of something and turned to speak to the merchant before he was whisked away.
Only instead of seeing the merchant he saw long halls of a building, and six figures carrying a casket towards the bright outdoors. His heart stuck in his chest and he felt a lump in his throat. He began to run, his arms pumping in time with his legs, his eyes focused on the men moving slowly away from him. He passed a door, and another, and another. The distance between him and the solemn procession seemed to increase incredibly slow. Abruptly one of the doors a head of him slammed open and he put on the breaks to avoid running into throng of people who flooded the hall. At the center of it all was a woman with long blond hair who was wailing her sorrow uncontrollably. He caught sight of Joan in throng of people supporting the women, and for a moment their eyes met. They both nodded and he began to hustle, trying to maneuver his way through the crowd by carefully pushing people to the side. He didn't receive too many complaints and then all of a sudden-
"Ow!" His right arm was suddenly much heavier and stiffer, and he could feel something wrapped tight around the joints. He turned to face the person he had gotten tangled up in, his mouth opening. The apology died silently on his tongue as he viewed the viruses in front of him. He had never seen their kind before, but it was obvious with the wooden look of two and the floating cloud of leaves of the other four that they were all Wood element. He cursed, felt Joan push up beside him and hold out a chip. He took it and slotted it in his mechanical arm and the mask on his head slipped down, dropping the room into black. All at once he couldn't feel anyone around him, and he seemed to be alone in the dark.
Not really a place he ever wanted to be.

As Rayner drifts off into a short and fleeting dream, luck remains with him to some extent; the slip of his body to the ground doesn't manage to cross the laser trip beam aimed across his path, though he does come close. The KillerEye stares intently at his sleeping form, as if mentally willing him with all its viral might to move just those few inches more, into the beam. Alas for it, the sleeping navi does not.
Apparently, watching Rayner sleep is, for a Snoozy, quite exhausting, because one simply remains where it is behind their makeshift barricade, while the other... falls back asleep?
The bad news for Rayner is that, while he appreciates guns and women, the Piranhas are less inclined to just watch him snooze, and the two that remain are ready to fire. They aren't quite as quick in doing so as the other viruses on the field, and the blackness of Rayner's dream-turned nightmare is fading back to a more accurate sense his surroundings, the sleep releasing its hold on him even as they begin to launch their attacks. There isn't much time as he rouses, groggy, but something must have put the normally quite accurate piranhas off, because even napping and vulnerable, the volley of six small tridents fired at him end up spreading quite wide. Wide enough that only three of them manage to connect with his prone form (-15). If nothing else, the minor bite of the projectiles ensures that he is most definitely completely awake again now.
Elsewhere, the little metool pauses for a moment to look over the pool again, apparently seeing nothing at all out of the ordinary, then hoists her towel and disappears into the change room. Many scientists would probably be enthused and eager at the potential opportunity to finally discover exactly what is under a metool's helmet, and possibly if they actually do take them off to bathe, but Rayner was probably too busy for that... And too much of a gentleman to go barging into the ladies changeroom while it was in use, as well... right?

Rayner awoke very quickly to pain, in fact it was sufficient to wake him up completely with his only disorientation being that he was positive he had been asleep for a week. Nevertheless he gathered himself together and looked around the field, this time taking care to note the movement and position of every virus on the field. He'd been brutally surprised by the Snoozies before, this time he was determined to avoid such embarrassment. "Sneaky little monsters." He grumbled, eyeing their hiding place and then abruptly swapping his attention to the Metool. Hmm, that was interesting? Was the Metool really that oblivious to what was going on? Was she really going to change her helmet? Rayner perked up as the changing room door swung open, excited by the prospect of more photo taking opportunities that would surely be of academic interest to at least a few NetBattlers, if not virus researchers! This was an excellent opportunity for some photography! If virus females were anything like Navi or Human females then it might take her a while to change, he might have time.
The changing room door swung shut, and another thought occurred to the Navi. Even if he got hit again by the Snoozies' pillows, he'd at least be relatively safe in the changing rooms from the attacks of the other viruses. Short of the fish breaking down the door, ah yes, he could see this working out quite well for himself! He rationalized that this was an even better reason to go in there. Besides, didn't he have a duty not only to himself but to male users of the University Net to see if the rumors of padded benches in some parts of the changing room were true? This was the perfect chance!
Rayner pushed himself way upright and stood, rolling his shoulders about to loosen them up and pulling on some of the multi-colored chip data that floated in a cloud around his neck. Soft pink particles of data drifted away from the swarm to cluster about the tear in the side of his jacket where the trident from the fish monsters had hit him. The soft light cast by the particles began to warm and sooth away at least a little of Rayner's latest aches and pains. As a result Rayner was confident he'd be up to the task of crossing the distance between himself and the door to the changing room. Maybe not all at once but, well, he could give himself a little help in getting there without taking a lot more damage, or falling asleep half-way.
Particles of yellow made up the biggest portion of the remainder of the chip-data cloud, occuring in both Metool Helmet and gold shades. Rayner pulled on the color that matched what a Metool normally wore, and the data packets twisted and turned around themselves to stream into his mechanical arm. The arm reacted the way it typically did when given chip data, it greedily sucked the data in and began to glow as it incorporated the temporary boost into its own design. In this case the claw seemed to shrink into the arm and the glow spread downwards from the lower arm into a rectangular shape. The glow faded away and revealed the matte black with yellow shape of the riot shield Rayner had made use of earlier. This time, however, small outward facing spikes could be seen edging the shield.
Rayner raised his arm and moved Guard between himself and the antagonistic fishes since they seemed to be the most belligerent of his foes. He'd make an effort to swing about and catch the pillow of an attacking Snoozy on the shield face, but as he walked sideways along the deep end of the pool to reach the changing rooms he kept the shield facing the angry fish in the pool. Maybe he'd be able to get his photo nice and quick before getting pelted by another sudden case of the naps.

Back in the here and now, Rayner made his move... and that was, in fact, to move. The light brushing of healing energy went some way to patching him up as he ringed the pool cautiously, eyeing up the Piranhas. Swimming in unison, they raced and circled, darting evasively as if waiting for the right moment to attack again... though on the bright side that meant that apparently 'now' was not the right time.
The wakeful snoozy was less convinced of this, and teleported out in an attempt to baff Rayner with its pillow again, but the soft, squishy weapon flopped harmlessly against his shield as he brought it around just in the nick of time to catch the attack. The shield's innate protective properties consumed the sleep-inducing elements from the pillow before they could filter through to Rayner, then promptly pulsed a thick beam of energy back in the direction of the attack.
A peculiar alignment of various factors gave this particular counter attack a rather dramatic effect. Having made his way around the pool, Rayner was more or less in front of the makeshift fort of deck chairs, and facing back towards both it, and on to the change rooms, the countering pulse shot first through the Snoozy that had attacked him, but it continued on to crash into the bundle of deckchairs, throwing them up in the air and generally tearing the temporary fort to pieces. As it did, it blew threw the sleepy Snoozy as well, giving it a distinctly tit-for-tat awakening sting even as broken pieces of deck chairs rained down on it.
The energy beam wasn't finished, though... Also on that same line, careening down the length of the pool, it also shredded through the base of the life-guard's chair, reducing it to splinters and sending the KillerEye tumbling down to land in a painful-looking manner on the unyielding concrete of the poolside. All told, it was quite a hefty reaction from one little pillow thump.
The Snoozy, wailing softly in surprise, teleported back to its cover, only to find that cover completely destroyed, and its companion blubbering in unintelligible virus talk. It sounded quite upset though. They both looked around for something else to hide behind, and the more recently awakened one pointed hurriedly towards the change room doors, then began to flee towards it, completely ignoring Rayner himself and floating past him in its urgent need to find shelter.
The comedy of errors wasn't quite done for the round, though. Infuriated by Rayner destroying its perch, the KillerEye re-aimed itself and deployed another laser trip beam, this time between itself and the change block, where the navi was clearly headed... So fixated on Rayner was it, however, and so disregarding of everything else but finding shelter was the Snoozy, that the inevitable happened: In its fleeing panic, the Snoozy crossed the laser line before Rayner even had a chance to, triggering the KillerEye's beam in response. Under normal circumstances, it mightn't have been too bad, but for the Snoozy's squishy, watery body, the shock of the beam was simply too much. With a startled shriek, it burst into scattered data. The Eye looked a little drained from discharging its beam, and the remaining Snoozy seemed to be reconsidering fleeing in that particular direction, but this gave Rayner the time he needed to reach the girl's change room door unmolested.
As he reached it, he caught the tail end of something that sounded distinctly like... giggling? At least two distinctly feminine voices tittered through the door, and they definitely didn't sound like viruses.
"Aww, that's so cute! Isn't she adorable!?"
"Look at the little bow!!"
"I know, I know, hehe! Shh, don't scare her!" Well, one thing was certain... if anyone thought that THAT metool was going to be startled by sudden movements or sounds, they clearly hadn't seen its obliviousness before...

The riot shield folded itself back up and reassembled back into Rayner's claw hand as the beam it had emitted faded away. It was a shame Rayner didn't have an actual face because right now he would have been making some very interesting expression. As it was the Navi was looking around the area in awe, his pursuit of photos for the sake of SCIENCE! temporarily forgotten as he surveyed the pool area. "Hah! Oh that was great." He couldn't help but laugh a little at the comedy act the Snoozy and KillerEye performed. Sure, it pretty much blasted his original plans way but the way was clear to the changing rooms! He could use a couple more chips though. "Hey Joan! Can I get a couple more chips?"
"Bleh, used up the others already? On the way." She picked up her opened her eyes barely wide enough to spot the stacks of chips and reached out, pulling another two chips from the 'not used' pile and slotting them into the PET. "Have you been doing alright? You haven't spoken much this fight."
Chip data streamed down to cling to the fluffy ruff around Rayner's neck. He promptly accessed it and was pleased. "No, I haven't run through all the chips yet. Besides, I thought you enjoyed the quiet. You're not getting worried about me are you?" He teased, the small green light sparking to life in his eyes as the Navi considered the battlefield. "Man, its a good thing you weren't paying attention earlier. Wouldn't do to have you freaking out over a little nap!"
"Well of course I'd be worried! You didn't take said nap during the middle of a fight did you? That seems like a good way to end up with a quick EJO." She retorted, her cheeks looking pretty red. "This fight and the last seem to bee taking quite a bit of time, are you sure you're alright in there?"
"Yes mother~" Rayner singsonged, the green light in his eyes positively dancing when Joan spluttered something incoherent in response. He took pity on his NetOp though, and became more serious for a moment. "If I run into anything I don't think I can handle on my own I'll holler at you. As it is I'm doing pretty well so far, although we'll probably want to visit SciLabs when we have time and pick up some upgrades. Our wallet is a bit heavier now." Of course he sounded pleased with himself, he was making fairly steady progress after all. Speaking of progress... "Hold please, I have pesky virus interlopers to deal with!"
Joan obligingly didn't speak up again which meant that Rayner could focus his attention and pull at the cloud of chips around him. Data packets streamed to his mechanical arm and reshaped it into the trusty double barrels of his shotgun. He lifted his arm and supported it at the elbow with his other hand then promptly sighted down the barrels at the sleep-causing Snoozy. He pulled the mental trigger, heard a soft click, and then drowned out the noise of people talking in the changing room with a blast of scattering pellets that would hopefully rip the Snoozy to shreds. Maybe it'd continue far enough to catch that Pirahna too.
Rayner apparently wasn't counting on it though as he turned towards KillerEye and gauged the distance between himself and the target. A stream of yellow data filtered from the buzzing cloud around his neck to reshift his arm back into typical claw-shape. Itseemed to have created quite a few extra wires from upper arm to lower arm that attached at the wrist and shoulder. Electricity made the wires literally hum as current coursed through them, and a stray green spark snapped and danced its way down the outside of the wire to the four prongs, and white lightning and green danced and twisted together. Rayner shook his head at the impatience of the chip waiting to be released, it had buzzed the loudest around his neck and now it crackled and sparked loudly while gathered in his claw. He might as well give the chip release though. He eyeballed the KillerEye, considered their positions, and then thrust his arm forwards, claw snapping open with the movement. Electricity quickly dispelled itself in a large cone towards the virus, bright green sparks and glitchy visuals mixed in with the yellow-tinged white of the chip's assault.
The attack ground itself out quickly however, and while it was hopefully drawing the attention of the remaining viruses Rayner would execute a quick tactical movement. He opened the door behind him, took a few steps backwards to clear the swing of the door and then quickly shut it again. The lights in his eyes started dancing again as he turned to inspect the changing room, expecting to only find himself and the Metool inside.
He was probably in for a bit of a shock himself.

After witnessing the accidental destruction of its fellow virus, the remaining Snoozy did, indeed, decide that towards the change-room was not the correct direction to flee. Back the other way, though, its eyes lit sleepily on the only slightly less flimsy structure of the diving board. That would do for cover, wouldn't it?
Its back was to Rayner as it moved down the width of the pool, heading for the sanctuary of the dive board. Alas, it didn't quite make it before the shotgun blast went off. Ironic was the fact that, if the snoozy had stayed where it was, It would have remained the only target of the blast. By fleeing to the far side of the pool, however, the angle of Rayner's aim brought the deep-end piranha into line of sight as well. The piranha survived, barely. The Snoozy was not so fortunate.
The KillEye was still recovering from firing its beam, and wasn't quite ready to throw out a new trip by the time Rayner turned on it. It had enough time to blink once, before the rolling wave of glitchy static washed over it. There was a brief moment when the eyeball seemed to grow larger, and larger, and larger, until it was almost the size of the change block, but it only lasted an instant before the virus simply popped, scattering junk data everywhere.
Still focused on Rayner the two Piranhas swam quickly up to the edge of the pool, and presented their tridents, preparing to fire on him again, but the navi chose this moment to make use of the door behind him and duck back into the theoretical safety of the room behind.
What greeted him were several short gasps and startled cries, and as he turned around, something that felt vaguely like a towel to the mask.
"Ahh, what the—"
"Hey, don't look!!"
"Get out, pervert!"
It was hard to pick out the exact words of any one voice when all three shouted at him at more or less the same time. With the towel in his face, the scene that Rayner wasn't quite able to see just yet, was, indeed, surprising.
Contrary to popular rumour, for one thing, then change benches in the girls room were every bit as cold, hard and unyielding as they were in the men's room, and in this case were laid out in a series of three 'u' shapes against one wall, while still leaving a corridor free in line with the door. There was another door opposite, with a small sign that indicated it led to the gym, while a similar sign by Rayner's door mentioned the pool. At the far end, another open doorway on the left seemed to lead to a series of showers, but the more pressing things to notice were the other occupants, quite decidedly plural, of the change room.
There were a total of three female navis in the nearest changing bay, towards the back corner. The first, and nearest to Rayner had soft blue hair that fell free to the middle of her back, and eyes that matched it. The tallest, she stood almost equal to Rayner's own height. Her skin was pale with a slight bluish tint and a couple of other features stood out from an otherwise humanoid norm; some light scale pebbling on the backs of her shoulders, small fins that presented themselves on the outsides of her wrists and ankles, and a very delicate scale pattern that ran faintly over the rest of her exposed skin, stopping only at her neck, hands and feet.
Not a great deal of this could be seen, because she currently had a towel wrapped around herself, which she was now pulling tighter in a hurry. To her left on one side of the bench, a series of neatly folded clothing was arranged in a stack, including long pants, a women's fit polo top, and a modest blue set of matching bra and underpants, with shoes placed neatly beneath the bench and socks tucked into them. On the other side, waiting just as neatly, a two piece swimsuit in the same blue as the woman's undergarments.
The girl in the middle was notably shorter and more solidly built, with brown hair still done up in a tight bun and hazel eyes that were currently somewhere between glaring and panic. Though she was the smallest of the three, she also bore the most substantial endowment of any of them, which she was struggling to cover now with both hands. One hand was clutching a green polka-dot one-piece swimsuit, apparently forgotten in the moment of panic. This girl's towel had probably been wrapped about her until a moment ago, but now it was crumpled in a ring about her feet, on top of most of her other garments, which had apparently been cast off much more carelessly than the neat, ordered folding of her friend. The girl's hurried efforts to cover her sizable chest left the only possible attempt at modesty for her lower half being to press her legs together tightly, which she was doing, alongside curling over slightly.
The third girl looked like she meant more serious business. About average height, she had short red hair, bright red eyes, and small licks of fire were creeping between her eyebrows and her hair. Rather than the sudden defence of the other two, this girl stood with a wider stance and one hand drawn back, ready to throw a bottle of sun block in Rayner's direction. She was the least way through changing, with a red bikini still bundled up in a partially unrolled towel on one side, and a small bundle of clothes heaped on the bench next to it. She was still wearing a pair of white cotton underpants, but her chest was completely uncovered. She didn't seem to mind this, however, in favour of wanting to hurl something violently at the intruder.
Surprisingly, however, the thrown towel had come from none of these young girls; it was, rather, the same towel that the little metool had been holding before. She had hopped up on the bench about halfway down the room, and had, somehow, removed the tiny bow, which was set neatly beside her. In its place, the metool was now wearing its bathing cap... over the top of its helmet. Its eyes were squeezed shut, with bright glowing pink spots underneath them, but even though it wasn't a pickaxe or a mattock, the instinct was well and truly still there with this virus; her initial shocked reaction had, apparently, been to fling her towel with full force, and rather impressive accuracy.
One way or the other, it was quite clear that no-one present was particularly thrilled by Rayner's sudden appearance. Behind him, there came the repeated sharp thumps of unerringly launched tridents thudding into the door. Between the two Piranhas, five of their six shots hammered against the door, sending splinters flying and making it groan under the onslaught. It wouldn't' hold up to any more.

Rayner realized very quickly that he had made a rather grave mistake. He froze under the towel and considered his options while fighting down the urge to pull the towel off his face. This was not what he had expected, and as he heard the 'thunk thunk' of arrows hitting the door behind him he realized his temporary shield wouldn't hold up much longer either. Maybe if he opted for mortified he'd be able to get out with nothing more than a couple of harsh words? It was worth a shot at any rate, and didn't people take pity on the bumbling idiot kind of person? Realizing he had been hesitating perhaps a bit to long he reached up with his claw to clutch the towel to his face and hold it in place as a sign that he wasn't going to peek.
"Oh, oh god this isn't the men's side! I'm, so so so sorry." He purposefully stumbled over his words as he fumbled behind him for the door handle. "I really didn't mean too in the middle of the fight I just wasn't paying attention and I'm sorry!" His speech became more rushed as he found the door handle and got the heck out of there, tearing off the towel and tossing it back at the voices directly along his sight line. He probably only got a quick glimpse as she stumbled outside and whirled to face the fish viruses. If he had a normal mouth a grin would have been visible as he shut the door behind him. He was pretty satisfied he'd gotten away with his deception for the moment and no one would ever need to know about this.
"Uh, what was that about 'not the men's room'?" Joan quoted incredulously, alert and sitting upright in her chair with eyes open. Rayner flinched and mentally cursed but forced a cheerful tone into his voice. Maybe he could just play it off?
"Oh you know, just accidentally wandering in on a bunch of girls while chasing after a virus. Didn't realize any one was already in there or I would not have followed." It was the truth, although arguably the reason he'd been following the virus was just as creepy as purposely walking in on a bunch of females. Maybe if he rushed on she wouldn't get suspicious? "It was only a Metool so I'm sure they've got it but I stilll have two rather angry fishes out here so if you could send me a couple chips that'd be great."
"Accidentally huh?" Joan quirked an eyebrow, grabbed a couple chips from the unused pile and slotted them in without really paying attention to what they were. She sounded like she might be a little disbelieving but she didn't push the issue further.
"Hey, I didn't see them enter the changing room and I had no way of knowing they were in the area until I went in there. I've been a bit distracted by taking on these other viruses by myself y'know?" Chip data streamed into the clinging cloud around Rayner's neck as he defended himself verbally and prepped for a more physical defense as well by eyeballing the two Piranhas. He reached for the chip data and hummed happily at the two new chips waiting for him there. The bright green cursors flared to life in his eyes as two differently colored streams of data merged with his mechanical arm. His lower arm shifted into the familiar Cannon shape. Rayner's first shot was lined up with the weakest of the fishes, and the blast that erupted from the end of the barrel was the attack you'd expect from a Cannon. As Rayner lined up with his next target the shape of the weapon shifted into something with exposed wiring and the crackling of electricity. The bright green lettering on Rayner's legs seemed to glow a little bright, and then abruptly dimmed right as he sent a crackling, glitching bright green stream of electricity that sought to waste the virus with what was very likely to be excessive overkill.

The shuddering impacts and flying splinters from the door that Rayner had just burst through actually did something to help his case, rather than harm it, though at first all they caused was another couple of startled shrieks and a slight divert in the sunscreen-wielding girl's attention.
Initial embarrassment passed, most of them seemed to realise that there was some actual hostility going on outside. It probably softened their mood towards Rayner, especially after he made hurried excuses, didn't peek, and promptly darted back out into what, for all they knew, was actually imminent danger. The red-themed navi reached out her other hand briefly as he fled.
"Ah... hey..." but Rayner had already joined the fray once more.
Well, in truth it wasn't really much of a fray.... but there wasn't really any need to let the girls know that, right? As he stepped out, the two Piranhas opened their mouths in the hopes of sending another volley his way, but Rayner fed one of them a cannon shot before it could do anything at all. The other managed to fire, but by some stroke of fortune it's normally exceptional aim was very poor; two tridents went wide and the third shot past his shoulder, sounding the last straw for the change-room door, but leaving Rayner unharmed. The door itself cracked and crumpled, rent to pieces, and its destruction was heralded by another startled cry, but, cool under pressure, Rayner followed up his cannon shot with a truly excessive amount of electricity to thoroughly remove the last violent fish from the pool.
Calm returned, save the creaking sound of another chunk of wood detaching from the broken upper hinge of the destroyed door.
"What's happening...?"
"Is it over?" Voices sounded like they were mostly intended as hushed whispers to one another, behind him, but with the door gone they were more audible than they would have been with it intact.
Amidst this, apparently unnoticed by the others, the little metool trooped happily back out the doorway, still holding her towel and wearing her yellow-with-green-cross bathing cap over the top of her helmet, and made her way over to the edge of the pool, setting the towel down, spreading it out a bit, then sitting back with her eyes closed, as though sunbathing.
Amongst the various amounts of zenny gleaned from the viral junk data, one of the unfortunate Snoozy's pillows seemed to remain intact and independently viable. It would be easy enough to transfer into chip form.

Rayner flinched as the harpoons from the Piranha slipped through the air next to him and splintered the door behind him. Even though he could probably take a couple more hits and keep on rolling, he didn't really want to take them. He was quite fine with dishing out pain to the virus though! After the quick burst of sizzling electricity the last virus was gone and all that remained were piles of slightly smoking data and the faint aroma of over-fried fish. Not very pleasant but it should waft away fairly quickly in the open air of the pool area. As Rayner returned his arm to its normal configuration the Metool wandered out of the changing room. He paused, looked down as she passed, and then pointed excitedly.
"See? There WAS a Metool!" He was more excited than indignant but Joan still felt a little embarrassed.
"Yes, yes I see. Is...is she wearing her bathing cap OVER her helmet?" She attempted to quickly shift the conversation away from Rayner's potential 'I told you so's. Clearly there were more important things to attend to. "That's a bit odd but I don't see why you were chasing her. She looks harmless!" Rayner snorted and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Well yeah its easy to tell she isn't violent now but earlier I only caught a glimpse of her going into the changing room. I didn't realize she wasn't just another virus then!" He paused in his self-defense, catching a couple whispers in the quiet and realizing the Navis behind him couldn't hear Joan so he was just out here having a one-sided disagreement. Ah well, he might as well let them know the coast was clear...and maybe warn them about the door.
"Just a moment Joan." He started to turn back towards the changing room and stick his head inside then reconsidered. Probably not a good idea with Joan awake and paying attention even if he could convince the ladies inside he meant no harm and had innocently forgot about their state of undress. "Hey ah, fight's over but the door is kind of destroyed! You might want to change behind your towels. Sorry about earlier ladies but I'm out!" He gave a wave over his should and then strode off towards the remains of enemies, his sensors alerting him to viable data that was worth collecting.
"So...just where have you been wandering around anyways?" Joan asked as she reshuffled the chips piled on the desk. Rayner was too busy manipulating some left over data fragments between his hands to respond right away. Joan decided to sit patiently and watched as Rayner continued pushing electrical impulses through the data in his hands as her Zenny total went up. A small frown appeared on her lips as she considered the legality of what he was up to and broke her silence. "Um, are you sure that's allowed?"
"A moment..." Rayner mumbled as he combed through the collected bundle of data and drew out the last few digits of money. He released the electricity that had been caging the data and watched what was left disintegrate even further into little 1's and 0's that disappeared. He straightened up and headed towards the next packet of data where one of the Snoozys had fallen. "What, are you talking about the Zenny?"
"Yeah, I mean, we're basically just turning viruses into cash. It seems, I don't know, wrong somehow?" Joan explained awkwardly, spreading her hands and shrugging a bit. "I know its a thing that's been around a long time but it just seems odd." Rayner shook his head as he picked up the fragmented data of a chip and absorbed it, starting the slow process of repairing it to usability. He walked as he did so, heading towards the side opposite of where he'd entered the pool area.
"Its just added incentive to head out and help clear the Net. It helps out everyone so it's basically just getting a tip for doing a good deed." He hummed thoughtfully, tapping a finger against the lower portion of his helmet as his processes slogged through defragging the chip. "I guess I could see how its odd, you didn't do much busting before we teamed up right? I never really gave it much thought because it's just a fact of life on the Net. Are your eyes feeling any better? You might try turning down the monitor brightness to help. Its a bit dark in here."
"Mmm, no I didn't do any at all. I mostly left that work to the other ranch hands. They seemed happy to show off and I didn't have to deal with not having a Navi." Joan replied as she reached out and began fiddling with the brightness settings on the computer monitor. "I'm working on fixing my brightness, what's using up all the power of your PET though?"
"That sounds unusually lazy of you. Is that why you pick up extra work now? Feelin' guilty?" Rayner teased, chuckling as he began the last bits of deciphering the chip. "I am fixing up what will probably be a chip when I'm through with it, but the PET could use an upgrade or two. We should take a trip to SciLabs sometime soon." He finished the data processing and took a quick peek at the chip's data before sending it to Joan. "Here ya go, another Pillow1."
Joan saved her settings to the monitor's visuals and slotted in a blank chip to add to their collection. "Ah, alright. I'll try to schedule that in." She leaned back in the chair, blinking a few times as she waited to see if her headache would come back. "I think I can stay awake to Operate now."
"It'll be good to have you."
(Searching for #5)
"See? There WAS a Metool!" He was more excited than indignant but Joan still felt a little embarrassed.

Though he didn't hear any response right away, the three navis apparently finished changing quickly so that they cold wander out and look at what was actually going while Rayner collected the spoils of his victory. Two of them seemed quite shocked by the amount of debris and destruction, though Green was quickly diverted into cooing at the metool, sunbathing in blissful obliviousness, while Red wore a vaguely impish grin on her face that said she found the whole scene somewhat more awesome than she really had a right to.
Blue dived right in, beginning to swim laps, but Red approached Rayner with a curious tilt to her head, apparently far less upset by his intrusion before now that she had seen the signs of conflict. Unfortunately, before any introductions could be made, a vaguely musical chime sounded across the area, coming from everywhere and nowhere at once. All three girls stopped in what they were doing and looked up. A voice followed the chime, sounding feminine and severe.
"Would Rayner.exe please report to the headmistress' office. Rayner.Exe, to the headmistress' office immediately." A closing chime tailed the P.A. Announcement. The three girls looked around for a moment, then red put a hand to her mouth, pointing directly at Rayner, or rather at his chest, where a green cross-hair was drawing itself quickly. It didn't seem to be coming from anywhere, and there was no getting away from it.
"Uh-oh.... busted!" Red grinned apologetically to him, covering her giggle with her hands. Apparently running wasn't going to be an option this time; as soon as the cross-hair completed itself, a pillar of light erupted from the ground all around the target navi, and his sense went blank in a moment of transportational static.
When he recovered a moment later, Rayner was standing in a room that seemed confused as to whether it ought to be an office, or a classroom. It was large enough to hold a small class, but it only had about six desks in it, and the board at the 'front' was an exceptionally archaic variety; not even electronic. At the back of the room, behind the desks, was a much larger teacher's desk, but that end of the room also contained bookshelves, filing cabinets, and the other accoutrements one might expect in a private office. There was a brought red apple on one corner of the desk, and a clicking office toy on the other.
More importantly, however, was the navi sitting on the desk. Rather than behind it, she was perched on the front edge with one leg crossed over the other neatly. If the woman had been standing, she would probably have looked tall and leggy, though the womanly proportions of her waist and chest were both, well, very womanly indeed. She was dressed formally, but her black blazer was open and the first two buttons of her white blouse were undone, enough that she showed a fairly eye-catching amount of cleavage, and hints could be seen of racy red lace lingerie under the blouse. Her mini skirt matched the outfit, but it was far, far too short of be appropriate for a teacher, ant it was only by virtue of the firm cross of her legs that she wasn't giving Rayner an eyeful. Black stockings covered her legs, down to bright red heels that kicked slowly in time with the clicking of her office toy.
The other sound that matched the timing of her toy was the sharp smack of a leather crop as she struck it against one palm. Bright red lipstick that matched her shoes... and bra, apparently... made for full lips that looked vaguely pouty even as she pursed them in displeasure. Her eyes were brown, but her hair was a rich red, drawn back into a tightly clipped power-hair style. Once she was certain Rayner was completely present, she began speaking in a stern voice that brooked no interruption. It was the sort of voice that might make one feel the need to stand straighter just for being the target of it.
"Vandalism and Destruction of School Property in the Music Department. Endangerment of other students by broken glass from the ceiling. Vandalism and Destruction of School Property in the Botany Department. Disruption of other student's botanical experiments. Truancy from Botany Class. Eating in Home Economics Class. Unauthorised Removal of Produce from Home Economics Class. Failure to bring Appropriate Swimwear for P.E. Destruction of School Property at the Pool. Reckless Endangerment of Other Students in P.E. And worst of all by far..." Here she glowered at him, but also paused to lick her lips in a sultry manner. "Wanton Trespass in the girl's change rooms and violation of the privacy and modesty of three female students."
Without taking her eyes off him, the lady slipped forward off the desk to stand, still smacking her crop hard against her other hand and walked towards him. There was an unmissable mincing sway in her walk as her high heels clicked against the classroom floor.
"You've been a bad, bad boy..." Now she sounded more like she was purring to him, than scolding. A moment later, she sounded harsh again. "You need to be Punished. You need to be Disciplined!" As she spoke the word, thick iron bars slammed down over the one doorway to the classroom, and over all of the surrounding windows. It was highly unlikely that she was actually capable of doing anything stop him simply jacking out, but the effect was intimidating all the same.
"I think behaviour like this deserves a private session..." Purring seductively again... she had almost reached him now, and extended her riding crop to draw it slowly down one side of his mask. "Perhaps if you're a good boy, we might be able to work something out..." she stepped back and cracked the crop much harder down against her own thigh. "But you certainly aren't getting out of this detention, young man!"
All other aspects of her appearance and personality aside, there was the distinct possibility that this navi was, to put it tactfully.... utterly insane. Aside that fact that she couldn't seem to stay consistent on whether she was playing sexy teacher, or actually intending to discipline a misbehaving student, there was the issue that she was, apparently, pouncing on random navis that happened to be passing and treating them like 'students', whether they were or not. What exactly had Rayner gotten himself into now?

"Busted?" Rayner echoed, arching a pixel eyebrow that appeared for the sake of such expressiveness. He looked down the light on his chest and then snapped his head right back up, attempting to track the source or maybe speak to Red or, well, something. Unfortunately it wasn't to be as he was whisked away. His senses went completely blank, no sight, no sound, no touch or any of the other sense Navis typically came equipped with. When he popped back into regular space it was with a crash as he fell to his knees, and only just caught his face from smashing into the floor. The teleport had thrown his sense of balance right off and he spent a moment on the floor to reorient himself.
A steady smacking noise helped him readjust to real space and he looked up, sitting back on his heels as he didn't quite trust himself to stand just yet. He didn't need to scan the area but he did anyways before looking at the source of the noise. When he did lay eyes on the female Navi his brain helpfully went right off to La La Land for a vacation while he tried, and failed, to not rake his gaze up his disciplinarians outfit from heels to hair. He pointedly looked at the crop in her hand then at her face, though the nuance of the move was probably lost due to the lack of visible pupils at the moment.
She spoke of his various crimes and he worked to pull his brain back to the task at hand. Normally Rayner would say he worked best when he had an audience but said audience didn't normally catch him so badly off guard. The whole situation had a certain flavor to it but he wasn't totally sure it actually was that way until she licked her lips. She began to walk towards him and he staggered to his feet in response, fighting off the remnants of his sense of balance being thrown off from earlier and the prickly feeling of legs that were almost asleep. He managed to keep his line of sight on her despite the stumbling and he made good use of the desk to either side of him.
As the female Navi went on, Rayner's systems identified her as 'Mistress.exe', Joan came to the conclusion that there was a distinct possibility that she might actually be insane and Rayner in danger. The bars slamming down on the exits and her seesawing between two very different ways of interacting with Rayner put Joan in mind of a certain book about a crazed fan getting a hold of her favorite author. It made Joan worry but honestly she wasn't sure what she should do. Jacking out was an option but if this really was an admistrator's Navi then maybe it was better to stay. Joan drummed her fingers on the desk as she worried, although that was abruptly stopped as she reached for the PET and attempted to check the settings. Oh, if only she knew how to initiate text chat with her Navi! She couldn't be certain that Mistress wouldn't hear her at the moment, but she could not remember where to check that particular option!
Joan's brief drumming sent Rayner's mind to the task of ensuring his NetOp didn't do anything rash, and that the female in front of him didn't hear his NetOp either. He toned out the disciplinarian for a brief moment and began to deal with that issue. He mentally poked a couple settings to where he needed them, temporarily overriding Joan's own attempt at setting manipulation. He flipped rapidly between windows and options, closing various dialogue boxes so quickly that they merely flicked onto the screen in front of Joan's eyes. Satisfied with his work he hit apply changes and save with the same quickness and pulled up a text box. He dropped a single line of text and then tuned back in to the end of Mistress's little speech, and apparently a riding crop on his mask. He purposely turned his head a bit more towards the crop and rubbed his cheek on it before she whacked it against her leg. He personally thought he was at his best with an audience, so when she gave him back the stage he took it.
"I see...are you going to help me atone then?" He asked, cocking his head and half-closing his eyes. The effect might have been better if he pulled off his mask but apparently he wasn't willing to just strip his helmet off his face. "I'm willing to do some extra credit work if it will help work off my debt. I take it I won't be getting away with just a slap on the wrist?" He teased, head tilting back the other way as the little green light appeared in his eyes for the sole purpose of showing his line of sight as he dropped his gaze to her crop and then up to her face again. His eyes widened a little in mock-fear and then swapped to a look that would be more appropriate about a smile. He was definitely baiting her, although right now he hadn't quite decided whether he should go for a straight up fight or something more sensual.
Joan looked again at the single line of text Rayner had given her and then pulled up a different website to start studying and moved it so it only barely-just missed covering up the view of the action. It'd be very easy for her to pull the window all the way across. Granted, in this study room she was sideways to the door so if she tilted the screen just so it shouldn't be an issue. It still felt just wrong to be listening in on this conversation, and the fact she was in a semi-public place didn't help matters either. She squirmed in her seat and got to reading, or pretending to read at least while keeping an eye on the situation with Miss Crazed Disciplinary. Joan resolved to at least be on hand with chips, she was also thankful the private study rooms were sound proof.

Mistress held her silence as Rayner answered, her eyes making no effort to disguise the way they roved over his body, weighing and judging. Her breath drew in sharply for a moment when he mentioned extra credit, an action which, in turn, made her chest heave in an unfortunately eye-grabbing way. This was followed by a long, anticipating sigh and a brief flexing of her crop when he suggested that he might like a little more than just a slap on the wrist. At least, that was how she heard it.
"Oohh... talking back..." The purr had become a predatory whisper. "I think I'm going to have to keep you late, young man. You're going to have to work hard before I'm fully satisfied." Somewhere along the way she'd stepped in closer again, and began to press him back purely by force of presence, until she was pressing her chest against his, against the blackboard. Whether he viewed it as fortunate or unfortunate, the switch seemed to flip again at that moment, and she jumped back from him, swiping her crop once and raising her off hand. A matrix of energy raced around it fanning out to form a broad shield-like object that clipped around her forearm. When it resolved, it ended up looking like a thick tome, opened around her arm with the spine and hard covers facing outward. Despite this her hungry, predatory grin was no different; it seemed like the discipline side of her was as eager for a tussle as the seduction side of her was for a wrastle. In all honesty, with this navi, that particular line was probably a very blurry thing, even without the cracked mirror of her psyche.
A moment after it was finished summoning in, and extra sheen of energy raced over her impromptu shield, adding intricate scrollwork to the covers and fancy metal clasps and corner braces to it. Mistress eyed him.
"First we have to deal with your truancy problem. Cutting classes is not acceptable, especially the life sciences." Her combat stance slipped as she leaned back on one of the student desks, her stance slipping further apart in something that couldn't be intended as anything other than a suggestive pose. "You're going to have to do the make-up work with me now..." The crop leapt up, pointed at him sharply. "And if I catch you slacking, boy..." and snapped down again to crack loudly on the flat surface of the desk next to her. Hopefully there would be a way to keep her more reliably in one frame of mind or another... elsewise getting a read on the woman was going to be a nightmare.
She propped one foot up on the seat of her desk's chair, giving what would have been a dangerous view up her skirt, if not for the fact that her tights were almost fully opaque. Enough transparency remained to tell, barely, that her lingerie did, in fact, match, but no more than that. Even so, there was no telling at the moment which direction the crazy lady would actually react in if she caught him looking. As she watched him with narrowed eyes, a brief tingle fell over everything in the room, but it was gone again in a flash, and there was no way to tell what, if anything, else she had done.

In Discipline, she will be actively interested in wearing Rayner down, while in Seduction she will be far more focused on... other things. There may be a way to keep her more reliably in one mode or another, but no way to completely prevent the back and forth.

Joan poked around on the BBS then decided that rather than sticking around where she very clearly wasn't needed she would do something useful. She picked through her pile of chips and then decided on four to slot in. In went four chips, including their new one, and she figured that would tide her Navi over until she got back. Hopefully Rayner wouldn't need them but it was hard to tell which direction this encounter was heading. She jotted off a quick text message then got up and grabbed the sign to hang on the door to show it was still in use and swiftly left the room with PET in hand.
J: Leaving to run to Suitachi's. Uploading chips in case you need 'em before I get back. Have uh, 'fun'.
Rayner was confused when he felt the chip data loading into his systems. He swiftly shut off the usual visual of said data clinging to his shoulders in a cloud and mentally cataloged what had been sent. Clearly Joan wasn't reading the non-battle vibe he was trying to give off, and hey look there was a message from her that probably proved exactly that but suddenly there was a book. A rather heavy looking book that seemed quite fancy.
Joan's message was pushed out of her Navi's mind by the much more important things going on in front of him. Much more important and intriguing was the way she kept flipping between personalities. Maybe he could try to encourage one over the other, if so he knew which side he wanted to be friends with.
"I know I shouldn't skip out but I just have such a difficult time concentrating in big groups. It feels so, informal." As he talked he was moving to a desk just in front of hers, as close as he could get. He pretended to be absorbed in adjusting his seat and brazenly dragged his view up her legs once he was seated. He sat with his legs slight apart but under the desk, and leaned forward to support his chin on his palm. "It might be easier to concentrate with such an intimate setting." He could purr with his voice too. "Now what did I miss in class this time? Chemistry?" His eyebrows arched up at that, a too innocent expression on the front of his mask.
Rayner followed Mistress's movements almost lazily with his eyes, though any movement of the crop brought quick and sharp attention. He tried to make it seem as if he wasn't paying attention to it but the success of that was anyone's guess.
(Oops, sorry!)
Summary:
1-3) Talking is technically a free action! (Unless its a speech)

((Yeah, the only thing that really probably needed a formal action was the movement, but it's just rules being rules; need the formal summary there before I can do it... you should see some of the 'actions' I've filled in for mine, just because there needs to be 'something' there, hehe. For the record, I'm treating Rayner as having the avoidance benefit of a move, and two 'prepared dodges', but in future it helps to say that you're consigning an action to dodge, when it's an action that isn't anything formal at all))
As Rayner moved closer, sidling in towards the teacher with his best penitent student routine, Mistress watched him with an indulgent smile spreading over her lips. The crop reached out to brush lightly against the side of his mask ,then she gripped the haft more firmly and angled it over his back enough to apply a small amount of pressure. It wasn't any sort of pull, or forceful action, but it was easy enough to read as her indication that he needed to come closer still. As she leaned forward, still listening to his explanation, the foot that was already propped on the seat of the nearest chair shifted a little more overtly, if there were possible; she lifted it to put the heel against the edge of the desk itself, much higher and taking her faux-relaxed pose from 'maybe offering an accidental glance' all the way to 'showing off with intent'.
Part of the difficulty with her apparent eagerness to draw her student closer still was that...well, in all honesty, there wasn't a lot of 'closer' left, short of pulling the chair right into the desk she was actually on... and there'd probably be no going back, once he was seated in front of that particular offering. Mistress was looking down at him, drawing her tongue over her lower lip, then biting it for good measure. The feeling of his eyes appreciating was apparently taken positively at this particular moment;she drew a sharp breath as she watched him watching her, then let it out again in a breathy, eager sigh. She moved her other heel to prop against the back of Rayner's chair, effectively pinning him in.
"You'll have to apply what you know, if you want to pass, young man. No head-wear in class... I need to see how eloquent your tongue is..." The crop brushed at his mask again, but the last words were practically panted.
For a moment, the crazy navi leaned back on her perch, waiting for him to... ah... begin, but as one hand pressed against the desk she was sitting on, a similar style of ornate reinforcing curled its way out and over the entire desk, fortifying and strengthening it. Her eyes drifted shut, then flickered open again, and glittered dangerously down at him. Whether he had made any move on what she'd clearly been demanding of him moments ago, or not, she now kicked hard with the foot on the back of his chair, tipping Rayner himself backwards and also letting Mistress roll off the desk in the other direction. She landed on her feet, book-shield raised up, and brandished her crop.
"That's enough sucking up. You aren't getting away with just a slap on the wrist this time, you little miscreant!" The hard edge was back, and this time her words were accompanied by action: she swung the riding crop upwards, just barely clipping the edge of the desk that was now between them. The soft brush caused a far greater reaction that anyone might have expected, sending the re-worked table flipping end over end. By coincidence of being shoved down by mistress herself, the table sailed over his head to collide against the back wall, but the disciplinarian wasn't quite done; in the same motion, without slowing down, her riding crop reached a peak, then cracked back down again even faster. The desk, unfortunately, responded. It shuddered once, then rocketed back the way it had come still at ground level.
It was lucky that Rayner was already on the lookout for the sudden changes, or else he may not have managed to get out of the way of the desk-turned tool of destruction in time. As it was, he avoided it by a hair, and the desk crashed into the one just to Mistres's right instead. Both tables exploded in a showed of shattered wood and chips. The lady herself didn't seem to notice, or care, about the damage she was causing, instead fixing her gaze on Rayner.
"I detest a suck-up! Show me you've got some spine, boy, or else I'll just have to beat one into you!" If creating things, strengthening them, and hurling them about was this navi's normal mode of action, then it might possibly be occurring to Rayner how very full of potentially painful objects their little detention chamber was.

((My apologies, I've been distracted lately and that particular nuance didn't come to mind.))
Things seemed to be looking up for Rayner. Mistress seemed to be all tease to his flirt and things were going well. He was confident he could string this along in a nice and easy flirting manner for a while. He chose to ignore her crack about his head wear, after all he had an identity to protect! Not that his helmet actually did much to protect his identity but it was the principle of the matter! He managed to keep his reluctance to remove his helmet off his face and things seemed to be still progressing along well and then Mistress abruptly decided to take things from first base to third and gave him an excellent view of her undercarriage.
Well.
"Hey now, I don't think we're /quite/ there-" He broke off his protest as she tipped him out of his seat. He decided to stay down on the floor, especially as the desk was sent flipping through the space he had just been occupying. Rayner followed the desk's flight path and the eyes on his mask widened comically as he was forced to roll out of the way of it's return trip. This was turning into a very bad situation, especially considering the likely sub-type of the disciplinarian standing not quite over him.
"Time to move!" He muttered, and scrambled up onto his feet and made a hasty dash for the opposite end of the room. Unfortunately this would put him right next to one of the many potential projectiles, but that was a risk he would have to take for the moment. It was pretty clear to him that he wasn't being successful in his earlier plan, or maybe he'd be a little too successful. Either way he had spent enough time fooling around with crazy, it was time to try something different.
Something violent.
Rayner accessed the chips Joan had sent him and almost immediately felt much better about the situation. Not only had she sent a new toy but an old favorite as well, and that was the chip he accessed. Chip data appeared in a cloud over his hand and filtered down and condensed into twin sphere of destruction while more chip data twisted itself around his mechanical arm and began to merge and reshape the limb.
"Hey! How about we make up for that PE with some catch?" He taunted, and then happily hurled the double bombs Mistress' way. That wasn't the end of his aggressive acts though, and as the bombs exploded he brought up his remodeled arm to fire a jolt of glitchy electricity towards the cracked Navi. Even if the bomb didn't hit the Summoner herself it might clear out a few of the desks, and that would hopefully give him less things to dodge.

When Rayner backed off to hurl his bomb, the riding crop extended to follow him. Mistress was glaring at him, eyes alight with something that could easily be mistaken for fury... or excitement.
"Get him!" Her words were a sharp snap, accompanied by a brief glow of white light at ground level, just in front of her.
The light made a circle, wrapped around with the same pattern of ornate curling that marked the objects she reinforced, and a figure rose out of it quickly. It looked to be made of smooth stone, but was shaped more or less like the image of a scruffy-haired boy in a school uniform, with his feet planted apart and arms holding an old model metre ruler like some sort of two-handed sword. The carved expression made the statue look something like a bully. At Mistress' word, the figure raised the ruler high above its head and darted forward towards Rayner, chasing him to the end of the classroom. Just as it reached the navi, though, it seemed to run out of steam, and stopped still. It was still close enough to give its ruler one hefty swing at Rayner, but the end whisked by his face, failing to connect by less than a hair. A moment later, the navi himself was countering the attack with one of his own.
The twin bomb sailed neatly over the rushing summon's head, to land squarely in front of Mistress. She raised her shield but didn't have time for much else before it went off. The blast rocked the room, and the sound of splintering wood reigned supreme. Unfortunately for Rayner, the next thing in his awareness was the ornate book-shield flying out of the smoke cloud at telekinetic speeds, directly towards him. There was no time to dodge or duck, and the hefty volume stuck him squarely in the mask with a solid crack (-45).
When the dust cleared, none of the little student desks had survived Rayner's destruction, but Mistress herself was standing in the middle still, panting slightly and her eyes afire. There was a dangerous grin on her face.
"More Vandalism, right in front of me! You want to destroy things, do you? I'll teach you a lesson, boy!" The crop pointed outward again, and her trademark reinforcing scrollwork began to creep around the statue she'd summoned before, strengthening it. A moment alter the crop flicked upward, and the statue was propelled forward again. It had no power of its own; clearly Mistress was hurling it this time, but it was already way too close to Rayner, and it succeeded in crushing him against the wall, before rolling off the the side (-20). The madwoman cracked her crop back in the other direction, and the damaged statue shuddered, then flew back at Rayner with vicious speed. Close as it was to him, however, the angle was a bit peculiar, and it shot past without hitting him, to crash loudly into the bars blocking the door instead.
Mistress gave a small, displeased snort at her poor aim, looking at the fallen statue, and so a moment later, when Rayner let loose with his glitch-laden bolt, there was no time for her to do anything other than take it full in the chest. As electricity coursed through her body, Mistress stumbled backwards, then staggered to the side slightly, seemingly off-balance. She tipped, then stumbled back the other way, finally steadying herself on the large, heavy teachers desk opposite Rayner. She was still grinning as she panted, her hair dishevelled now as she kept both hands firmly on the desk for support.
"Hahh... that's it... Come on... show me what you've got, big boy... hahhh..." And her voice had slipped back to sultry once again. What was the matter with this woman?
