Chat Problems

Okay, so as of early Friday, parachat has disabled the ability for users to use the [Ctrl]+[V] keyboard command to paste text into any chatroom windows. They also disabled the ability to copy text. The reason for this is obviously linked to the table breaking issue of Java 7 with pasted hyper links.

Sucks right?

Well maybe not so much. At least not for FireFox users, since you can highlight any text that is within FireFox, and just drag a copy of it into the chat window's text entry box. It will paste right in without fuss or muss.

This also works with post interfaces, so you can copy text into a posting interface from external sources, then drag and drop into the chat.

Edit: You can drag text across tabs by dragging the text to said tab, and it will switch automatically.

So, there you have it. A work around for something very silly.

Also, this apparently extends to copying text from the main chat window too. =/
Update: The problem is fixed. For anyone who still cannot copy/paste, just refresh the chat page and it will work.

Additionally, parachat has added context menus for copying from and pasting to the chat via right clicking.
As of this post, Java 7u7 and 6u33 and earlier are no longer supported by FireFox. All FF users will be prompted to disable their Java if it is out of date within the week. Within two, it will be disabled for you if you do not update.

You should update your Java versions to 6u37 (and 7u9, if it asks for it) as soon as possible.

Java 7 still does not fully work with Parachat. If you end up having to install 7u9 anyway, remember to disable it after installing 6u37 as well. The browser will use the 7u9 library without using the runtime environment.

If you need help, please PM me. : )

PS: ALL internet browsers EXCEPT the latest IE (which nobody willingly uses...) are 32bit. You will need the x86 files (windows) or 32 bit files (linux) if you wish to get the latest Java.

6u37 <-- Must update.

7u9 <-- Only if asked.
