Thermostat Troubles

Counting his lucky stars as the boomerangs swept past his original position like the whirlwind, Kirlian breathed a sigh of relief as he carried out his attacks. He can't be all-lucky, however, as he took a surprised shot from a quickly recovered Cannonguard. Ow.

"Serves you right," Cara chuckled evilly, watching the spectacle. Thinking that the spinning EM wave could do anything more than a brief moment of time bought showed how much of a rookie Kirlian was in this gig. No matter, valuable lessons are usually painful.

Regardless of the hit taken, upon seeing that his initial tactics worked, Kirlian once again brandished his half-circular-bit weapons, this time using it like a club to attempt to smash the weaker of the Boomers to oblivion. The engineering Navigator relied on the bit's weight for momentum and power, as he angled his smashing hit at the direction of the other Boomer.

Taking the opportunity of his caveman-like attack, both of his two smaller bits spun in the air slightly, as if collecting a tiny whirl of particles before one fired at the Cannonguard that shot at Kirlian earlier, letting loose a wave that once again attempt to disengage it's locking mechanism and send it spinning once more... a more exciting version of the Sharonian Roulette.

The other bit, however, used it's charged particles to discharge a possibly debilitating ball of electricity at the still-healthy Cannonguard, seeking to end it's still-healthy reign once and for all.

While the bits were hard at work, Kirlian moved away from all the commotion, his legwork almost making him look like a bunny hopping away from danger.

Summary of actions:-
1) RageClaw1 [5/6] - 20DMG Impact; Accuracy B - Boomer A -> Boomer B
-) Subtype: Gust - Spinspinspin CannonGuardB
2) MaruBlaster1 - 60DMG Elec + Glitch; Accuracy A (after melee attack) - CannonGuardA
3) Dodge
Kirlian seemed to have no trouble swinging his intricate weapon of his as a blunt club, but it sure did the job as one of the Boomer virus was taken care of. With a sudden change in technological weaponry, the navi used the similar bit to fire a blast of electricity to delete the exposed Cannonguard.

The magnet panels were keeping the other two viruses in check, moving them around back and forth to keep them busy...

Seeing that the viruses were preoccupied with the magnetic terrain, Kirlian moved in for the kill as he swung the large, crescent-shaped bit sideways, allowing momentum and brute force to do the rest. Cara harrumphed, her hands reaching for the shotgun chip and slotting it in for good measure. Slowly, yet surely, Kirlian was showing improvement. Still nowhere near his predecessors, however.

Kirlian managed to catch himself from almost falling on his face just then, right at the moment when Cara was mentally praising him. Great, Cara thought with a sigh, a palm on her face.

That did nothing to dampen Kirlian's spirit, however! (Mostly because he was used to it.) He raised his right arm to free it from the half-circular bit, the bit letting out some steam as it disengaged from the mechanical arm. Coils surrounding his arm seemed to glow to collect charged particles from the air, the particles getting absorbed into the chamber held underneath. As soon as it was fully charged, Kirlian set the slug loose from his mechanical palm, it's destination being the only remaining CannonGuard.

Summary of actions:-
1) Battlechip: RageClaw1 [4/6] - 20DMG Impact; Accuracy B - Boomer B
2) TRIPdodge
3) Battlechip: Shotgun - 50DMG + Spread1; Accuracy A - CannonGuard B + Boomer B
Dashing towards the remaining Boomer virus, Kirlian called upon those bits to try and give it a vicious smack, sadly just then the magnetic panels yanked it just out of the way. And while it made a counter attack by hurling its boomerang, the navi's impromptu trip seemed to come at the best time as the attack flew right over him harmlessly.

But it's hard to keep a good navi down, as he turned that robotic arm into a weapon and thanks to the hold of those magnetic panels, blasted both those viruses away .

—Battle 3, Victory!—
Kirlian: 465 Zenny
"Decent enough," Cara said simply, ordering her Navigator to proceed ahead. Kirlian took another tentative step towards the mind-troubling network (to him).

[[Battle 4 Ready]]
Venturing further and further into the net, soon the Navi would find himself a path, glowing yellow panels seemed to lead through the mass field of metal, and far at the end, low and behold a green glowing diamond seemed to be the prize. But to reach such a prize, a toll must be paid, and to claim such a fund was a roadblock of viruses standing guard, the question was, could Kirlian afford the price for passage?

--Battle 4, Start!
Cara's brows furrowed at the sight of six viruses, wondering the rationale behind the sudden increase of pack numbers. Kirlian, on the other hand, looked outright distressed; his gulp audible and shakey actions evident from the eyes of the viruses, no doubt. If anything, Kirlian didn't want to be squashed by a large army of viruses... especially when they're all new variants that he had never met before.

Without warning, Kirlian took a step towards the viruses, two hands in the air. "Peaceful! P-please," he shouted, as the three bits following him also raised themselves to the air behind him, showing no aggression.

Cara clicked her tongue; while diplomacy might be plausible, but do the viruses even have the sense to acknowledge peace talks? Her eyes roved over to the green diamond that they seemed to be guarding. It was kind of odd and out of place that something like this was in the AC network, but she had no idea to what degree the virus infection was as yet. It would also seem that it might be of value.

Buuuut Kirlian lacked firepower to handle all six of them at one go. Sudden deletion would've been the apparent outcome. Cara just shrugged and watched.

Summary of actions:-
1) Walk towards viruses, hands in air
2-3) Autododge
Taking on a perhaps very unorthodox strategy on how to deal with the new group of viruses, the suddenly peaceful navi threw up his hands and started to approach the viruses with peaceful intent.

Sadly, his offer was rejected, as both those tower gunners seemed to take delight in shooting up the ground in front of him. Even threatening to shoot the navi himself though he was spared by surprisingly quick footwork. Still, while they seemed less than willing to accept surrender, the Beetanks at least seemed to, the problem was, they had moved back and were starting to carry off the GMD, following that road deeper and further away.

Though not surprising, Cara couldn't help but chuckle at the spectacle of Kirlian dancing to the gunner's bullet fire. The three bits seemed to bounce along in entertainment, even as Kirlian was trying very hard not to get hit by the firing. The Navigator only managed an "ah!" before seeing the Beetanks scuttling off with the green data.

In a way it was good news, since that meant that he only needed to deal with the remaining four viruses.

Seeing that his monkeying around was done, Cara straightened in her seat to begin issuing chip data to her subordinate. "Get rid of the ranged ones first," Cara started, making an indicator appear over the Gunners on Kirlian's visor interface.

"Y-yes ma'am!" Kirlian responded with a quick, sloppy salute before bouncing into action. His mechanical arm outreached, it flashed once before discharging a shotgun slug at one of the Gunners. Following up with a quick swipe of that arm, Kirlian released a shockwave from the arm coil-- charged from the shotgun firing-- in an attempt to smack one of the Champus out of the solar-paneled road.

The circular bit roared to life just then, sending a streak of lightning across the battlefield to chase after the shotgun slug, as well as the shockwave, in an attempt to zap the group of cluttered viruses. Kirlian took the flashing and distracting opportunity to make his way towards the group via rolling on the floor.

3) Roll forward dodge
Seeing as negotiations had broken down, Kirlian could only resort to violence.

Utilizing some expert marksmanship, Kirlian fired at one of the Gunners, the spread continuing in the same direction. This prompted one of the Champus to warp to his location, ready to give him what for, before being blown back with a gust of wind at the damaged Gunner!

Taking this chance, Kirlian sent out an electrical attack that shocked the Champu and both Gunners and successfully eliminating one of them! Not to be taken lightly, the other Champu warped in front of Kirlian, only for the navi to roll under his punches!

Kirlian muttered a yes under his breath as he saw his actions become relatively successful, with his operator silently approving of it. If anything, Kirlian was getting better in combat; and that was always good news. Cara leaned back in her seat slightly, stretching. All the Navigator needed was time, she supposed.

Back in the net world, Kirlian's large bit gave off a high-pitched hum, rolling and flipping itself into position in front of the Navigator. Kirlian's finger raised and poised at the weakened Champu, the bit followed the direction and let loose a paralysing charge at the virus. At the same time the bit discharged, Kirlian's own boots released a propelling charge, sending Kirlian shifting backwards and hopefully, away from enemy fire.

Cara decided then to deliver more chips for Kirlian to use, now that he ran out of his own firepower to utilise. "Make use of these," the operator said simply, shifting her gaze to look for any other interesting objects in the battlefield-- her attention already not on the battle. The Navi could very well handle himself now, not that she was really concerned. He was her invention, after all.

"Yes, ma'am!" Kirlian was shouting, almost screeching as he almost lost his footing from the boot-gust. Nevertheless, his hands were free-- and he managed to load one of the chip data onto his coil systems. His right arm's coils glowed and crackled with energy, and Kirlian kept the arm stable by holding it with his left, taking aim at the remaining Gunner. An EM-propelled slug was expelled from his mechanical arm's chambers, finding it's way across the battlefield in an attempt to serve it's destructive purpose.

As Kirlian's feet finally found stable grounds, he widened his stance, facing the still-healthy Champu up ahead. The two tiny bits, reading their master's intent, spun in their place, generating a few rounds of electricity back and forth between them. The charges conglomerated into a ball of energy, the bits' tips spinning to target at the Champu; the energy following the aim and flying at the enemy.

Bringing back his large floating bits, the navi quickly launched off a stunning strike at one of the two little boxing viruses. Probably for the best too as it circuits started to hiss and the virus simply stopped in place for a moment. It's counterpart however disappeared, and with a quick burst of air, Kirlian slipped back just as the Champu appeared in front of where he just was, letting loose a furry of powerful punches into nothing but air.

His own counter attack started then, as Kirlian lifted his arm and released a powerful blast towards the remaining gun turret, quickly deleting it outright. While his bits whirled back around and began to charge, the Champu had long since teleported back to its former place, which happened to be its downfall as the bits let out a charged bolt, slamming into the fighter and giving him the K.O. right then and there.

"Get it over with," Cara said at the ridiculous spectacle of a single enemy remaining stunned in place. While being relatively pleased with Kirlian's improving performance, she was still irritated by the fact that her new Navigator's slow and horrible virus busting skills in comparison to his predecessor. Regardless, a job was a job. Slotting in the only chip left available to Kirlian, Cara stood with her coffee mug, walking off to the pantry for some refreshments-- and leaving Kirlian to clean up the last virus in his own, ridiculous pace.

The moment Kirlian retrieved the data, he glanced briefly at the screen on his visor UI-- only to find that Cara was not there. Taking a deep breath and steeling his wits, the Navigator lunged head first at the stunned Champu, his bits hovering and trailing behind him as he did. Sparks crackled in response to Kirlian's sudden pick-up in speed, as if his very body was acting as a dynamo to generate the high voltages pouring out of his right arm's coils.

As he drew his right fist backwards, he looked at the stunned virus in the eye-- and then threw it a punch that was backed up by the power of the RageClaw1. "I've got nothing against you, buddy," Kirlian said apologetically to the Champu.

1) Tactical Movement + Dodge - TOWARDS THE CHAMPU!
2) Battlechip: RageClaw1 [6/6] - 40DMG Slashing; B Accuracy + Subtype: Gust (Knockback) @ ChampuA

With the last virus standing stunned and helpless on the battlefield, Kirlian could easily step up; offer his small condolences, than promptly smash it in the face with a powerful clawed fish, deleting it outright. Victory was had, if perhaps a little hallow.

—Battle 4, Victory!(mostly)—
Kirlian: 540z
And a very hollow victory it was indeed.

Even as Kirlian gingerly proceeded to pick up the spoils, Cara could be heard tapping her fingers audibly on the workstation impatiently. Taking that as a hint, the green Navigator quickly packed and moved to where the expected thermostat regulator programme was.

The destination was a secluded building in the network, built on transparent walls surrounding it's four sides, and a single lone security door, also made of a see-through material, facing Kirlian as he arrived. Upon closer inspection, however, it seemed that there was someone else already there.

So Kirlian was not alone.

"An enemy? An ally?" Kirlian remarked confusedly, panicking as he started running towards the building. His three bits followed suit, spinning in the air to add dramatism to their master's confusion. Cara clicked her tongue and began to speak. "Kirlian, that-"

THUNK"-'s a door." the Operator sighed, putting her face into a raised palm. The Navigator was comically plastered onto the door from the momentum of running, and funnily enough, the three bits just watched on and didn't get caught in decorating the walls like their master. The figure from within noticed the very uncool arrival of Kirlian, and got closer to the door.

Upon closer inspection of the figure, however, Kirlian realised that it was just another Navigator. Standing about quarter of a head shorter than Kirlian, the said Navigator was a woman in what seemed like robes from a nomatic tribe, with a fur hat to complete her exotic tribal look. A bow was slung across her shoulders; and she was looking thoroughly amused at Kirlian's predicament.

She pulled open the door and took a few steps backwards, letting Kirlian fall through into the room and greeting the floor face-first. "'the heck are you doing, greenhorn? What, you're into wall decorations now?" the lady sneered sarcastically, two hands on her hips as she lowered her torso to look at the poor sod hugging the floor. From Kirlian's low angle, he easily identified the other's Emblem that were decorating the outer ankle part of her boots. "H-hi Temir," Kirlian said, picking himself up from the mess and standing.

"'ey. I've fixed the, uh, thermos start thing. Yer 'bit late," Temir noted with pride, running a finger across her nose while smirking. At that point, Kirlian was preparing himself for a long lecture from Cara about his incompetency... but he received none. Kirlian blinked, wondering why Cara was being so quiet. "Eh, sounds like they muted their small talk," the female Navigator noted, shrugging in reference to their Operators. "Our shit's done 'ere. So let's hit it?"

Kirlian meekly nodded, wondering what were the horrors awaiting for him back at the PET.
