RE: Hot virus on virus action!
"One left..." Del grunted, dismissing the barrel in a storm of data much like the one that spawned it. He removed his wing, collecting the pieces into a single whole for a second time. Bringing the weapon to his waist, he crouched, building up his attack. In a sudden flurry of movement, he sprang at the virus, disappearing mid jump and reappearing with his sword drawn behind it. "It's over..." he said as he replaced the wing. Another gouge appeared in the 'Net, leading straight to the virus.

"Wha?" Del mumbled, surprised at the lack of attacks from his woody foes. "Oi, you guys are viruses, right? You're supposed to at least put up some kind of fight!" he shouted, coming to a stop and glaring indignantly at the pair. "Come on!" The viral Navi crossed his arms and waited for some kind of action...

    And waited...

    And waited...

"Taylor," he finally groaned, an exasperated expression on his face, "I'm bored!"

"Well then," Taylor said, causally slotting in two chips, "Let's do something to speed this up. Shotgun and Cannon, headed your way."

"Alright, let's get this going," Del smirked, supporting his right arm with his left and pointing it at the viruses. In a flurry of assorted data, a gleaming barrel took the place of the limb. Now, how to do this... A faint tingle ran through his feet, giving him an idea. A sudden lurch announced the start of another joyride across the magnet riddled landscape, but Del managed to keep his balance this time around. Only gonna get one shot at this... He slid past the viruses, and for one brief moment their forms overlapped. "Now!" he cried, releasing both shots almost simultaneously. Plumes of smoke rose from the ground as the shotgun, and the cannon, both impacted into... something. Del couldn't tell through the dust, but he could hope they hit as he continued his involuntary journey across the battlefield.

Del slowed to a stop as he spotted the virus. "Well, that didn't take too long..." Del commented, eyeing the gaggle of viruses with a nonchalant gaze. "Yeah, I guess there's two things you can count on in this crazy world of ours," Taylor reflected, a pseudo-philosophical tone in his voice, "Taxes, and the fact that you can't walk 5 feet in Electown without finding some form of trash or another." He waved over to a passing waitress, and made an order. "Well, you ready?" he asked after he was done, moving the napkin holder to the center of the table so he could rest the PET against it. "You know it!" his Navi replied, turning his head to the side until his neck let loose a satisfying CRACK! "Alright, battle routine set," Taylor said, engaging the PET's battle interface.

"Execute!" Del shouted, charging towards the closest virus.

Reaching behind, Del wrested the fragmented mass of data he called a wing from his back and ran a clawed hand over it, causing the individual fragments to coalesce into a single, razor edged blade. Dragging the sword along the ground, he let out a battle cry, then suddenly vanished mid-stride.

Del reappeared behind the Billy, sword drawn high, as an explosive slash ripped through the ground behind him. He sheathed his blade, the fragments separating to their original state, as he turned to taunt the remaining viruses. Instead of a witty quip, however, he let out a yell as his feet were dragged along the ground, causing him to fall face-first as the rest of him followed. When he came to a stop, he scrambled back onto his feet.

"Huh... Haven't had to deal with these before..." he remarked, tapping his boot on the electrically charged panel beneath him. "Ya find something new every day, eh?" Taylor said, absentmindedly sipping from the steaming mug of coffee the waitress had just supplied him. "I guess so..." Del replied, sprinting parallel to the viruses to gain a more defensive position.

    Hot virus on virus action!
In a flash of violet light, Del appeared in the middle of a busy Election 'Net intersection. He had enough time to register he was on the net before he had to dive out of the way to avoid being hit by a Navi modeled after a antique electric trolley.

"Clang, clang, clang goes the trolley! Ding, ding, ding goes the bell!" it howled as it zoomed away.

Del got to his feet, watching the Navi shrink into the distance. He brushed off the cyber-dust that had gotten all over him when he fell. "Well, I guess it takes all types..." he sighed. He located the nearest footpath and began to walk down it, looking for a group of viruses to rid from the 'Net.

    Mmm.... caffinated goodness
"Gah! I hate board meetings..." Taylor sighed, waking out of the Murasaki Security Systems corporate office. He stretched is arms in the air and yawned, his hair freeing itself from the liberal amounts of gel he used to keep it down. "Mmm..." he mumbled, realizing that he was both tired and thirsty. Even though he had been in a meeting for 4 hours, it was still early morning. After checking to see if any cars were coming, he jogged across the street, entering a quaint little coffee shop. It wasn't anything impressive, nothing like the multinational coffee chains appearing on almost every street corner, but the people there knew him and it had an internet connection. After throwing a greeting at the owner, a good friend of his after years of patronage, he sat in his normal booth near the back and pulled out the PET.

"It's about time..." Del said, smirking up out of the PET screen. His image disappeared from the screen and he appeared on the table in front of Taylor. "You have no idea how boring it gets in a pocket after two hours..."

"Well, what say you we vent a some of this boredom," Taylor said, wearing the same smirk as his ragtag Navi. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the only battlechips he had left. His collection had been much larger at one point, but starting a business costs money, and it was thanks to that sacrifice that he was able to live as he did now. Well, lets start rebuilding it now, he thought. "Alright, let's do this!"

    Taylor Murasaki and Del.EXE
    Operator
    Name: Taylor Murasaki
    Age: 29
    Gender: Male
Appearance: Taylor is taller than average, about 6'3". His build is lean, and his usual dress of silken shirts and dress slacks hangs comfortably loose over his frame. While at work, he keeps his jet black hair slicked back, but the moment he leaves the office it suddenly becomes spiky, seemingly of its own accord. A simple band of gold adorns the ring finger of his right hand, a keepsake from a past relationship.
Personality: Taylor runs his own security firm, started as a small time operation while he was in college and blossoming into a full blown corporation by the time he was done. While behind the desk, he maintains a professional air, calculating and collected. On his own time, however, he's the same fun-loving goof he's been since he was a kid. Always one to try something for the sake of doing it, he's found himself in dangerous situations as often as enjoyable ones.
PET Modifications: His PET is purple with a simple gold pattern running along the border. The logo of his company is engraved on the back.

    NetNavi
    Name: Del
    Gender: Male
    Element: Normal
    Type: Sword
Appearance: Del's build is very similar to Taylor's, both tall and lean, though Del's physique is slight more defined than his Net Op's. A great deal of his limbs are severed, dissolving into loose fragments of data before coming back together to from the lower part of the limb. His left arm and right leg are more viral than Navi, a side effect of being recoded with fragments of deleted viruses. On his back is a single wing, composed of pieces of floating data. His jump suit is a royal violet, with golden highlights.
Personality: Del used to be extremely conscious of his appearance, causing him to be somewhat introverted, sometimes to the point where he actively separated himself from his fellow constructs. As the years after his reconstruction passed, he soon became used to himself and came out of his proverbial shell. He's since been more outgoing, engaging in virus busting and net battling with great enthusiasm.
Custom Weapon: Del uses the razor sharp claws on his hand and foot to attack his foes. He has complete control over his disembodied limbs, able to separate them from himself over great distances to attack foes at range, as well as being able to rotate them freely.
Signature Attack: Flash Step: Del removes the wing from his back, collapsing the individual "feathers" into a single, razor-edged blade. He takes two steps towards his target then seemingly disappears, almost immediately reappearing behind them with his blade held horizontally in front of him. A gaping slash appears in his enemy a second or two later. (60 damage to a single target. 1 turn cool down)

((Yep.. I'm doing it again. For the umpteenth time, I'm calling this little campaign to a close and starting fresh. Now, as I begin an epic journey to the Registration thread, I leave you with this little nugget of advice: Never ignite a bottle rocket while sitting in a 2-man tent. It's just not a good idea :P.))

RE: I've got a flaming scythe...
Tyci let out a yelp as pure electricity racked her slight frame. "It hurts..." She moaned, attempting to take a step back only to be sent reeling by a sudden electric shock. "Nik... uhn.... grass..." she managed to call out. Nik, understanding what she wanted, uploaded a chip into the PET.

As soon as the data was uploaded, Tyci forced herself to move, gritting her way through the pain. She brought her arms in front of her, forming a diamond with her fingers. Momentarily, the image adorning the Cactball chip appeared in the gap of her fingers, before it morphed into a simple leaf. Light exploded from the leaf, engulfing Tyci in a whirlwind of emerald light. A boot made of a light brown bark emerged from the tornado, causing it to disperse in a shower of faintly glowing leaves.

Tyci looked almost completely different than before. Her normal armor gave way to a set that looked more plant than plate. Leather of boots and gloves were replaced with a smooth but strong bark. Her shoulders were now adorned a trio of woody spikes, and her jumpsuit had shifted to the color of sunlight from behind a canopy of leaves. A skirt of interwoven palm leaves loosely circled her waist. Her helmet retained the same shape, though its texture was of the same bark her boots were made of. As though to match the change in armor, her skin had darkened from cream to an earthy brown.

The change was much more than aesthetic. Verdant energy coursed through her being, acting as a balm for her current state. The pain caused by movement had softened to a mere numbness of the limbs. "Alright, let's do this..." Tyci said, slamming the butt of what appeared to be a simple wooden stave. A sound of cracking wood retorted across the battlefield as the staff splintered and warped, blooming into a peculiar scythe. ((For the sake of space, an image of the scythe is provided))

Tyci dashed to the side, not trusting herself to any actual fighting until she could feel her arms. I just hope I don't end up tripping over myself until then... she thought, keeping an eye on the viruses.

    ((Turn Order:
Typecast (Wood): 3 turns remaining. Restricted chips: Cactball.

RE: I've got a flaming scythe...
"Alright Tyci, looks like our first virus encounter," Nik said, readying some chips for use. "Just let me handle...this..." he began, but trailed off as Tyci, already swinging her scythe into a comfortable battle stance, rushed off toward the nearest virus. "Or you can figure it out yourself..." he muttered, watching as Navi bring her weapon over her head.

In a fluid movement better suited to a seasoned fighter rather than a first timer, Tyci brought the razor edge of her scythe crashing down on the virus in a graceful arc. She let the momentum of the attack send her into a spin and followed through with a jab from the butt of the scythe, attempting to push the virus away in the process. She readied the weapon for another attack, but was stopped short by the appearance of an odd yellow disc appearing in front of her.

"Hold on a sec," Nik said as he slotted the Guard into the PET. "Using battle chips can help you out a great deal. Watch." Tyci lowered her weapon as the Guard suddenly tripled in size, forming an effective barrier between her and the viruses.

    ((Turn order:
2 Normal attacks to Billy A(9 damage each)
    Guard))

    I've got a flaming scythe...
A pillar of white light shot out of the otherwise empty sky over the Electown Network. It crashed into the ground, creating a small whirlwind where it connected with the ground. As the turbulence settled around the entry zone, Tyci took a step forward, E.R.G.O. Scythe resting across her shoulders and a hungry look in her eye. Though she hadn't actually been in combat yet, Ergo's taste for battle resided in her programming and she was beginning to feel as though she couldn't contain herself anymore. "So, where do I go from here?" she asked, noticing a footpath not too far away from her current location.

"Following the path seems like a good idea," Nik responded, checking the connection status between the PET and his connection. After assuring himself that it was in perfect working order, he switched back to the Navi-view. It's better to not get too distracted on his Navi's first run through the 'Net.

Tyci rolled her eye before setting down the trail. Kicking a stone along ahead of her, she kept a lookout for any stray viruses as she wandered down the meandering trail.

    Bright lights, big city
"Wow..." Nik said, standing out on the balcony of his new flat and taking in the view. Finding this place had been a stroke of luck as it was, but the view that came with it...

"Do most humans find pleasure in doing nothing?" a female voice asked, half exasperated, from the silver and blue PET clipped to Nik's belt. "You've been standing there admiring the scenery for the past half hour. I'm bored!" The sound of a boot stamping shot out of the PET's speaker. A holographic screen leapt from the device, rising until it was level with Nik's face. Glaring out of it was Tyci's helmeted image, arms crossed and foot tapping. Nik turned toward his Navi, letting out a small sigh. "Tyci, Tyci, Tyci... You've gotta take the time to appreciate the small things in life. You never know when you won't be able to anymore..." he said, turning back towards the cityscape that sprawled out beneath them. Unconsciously, he added "Ergo wasn't one to stop and smell the roses either..." He caught himself before he went further down that road. Ever since the loss of his former Navi, Ergo had somehow found his way into most of Nik's thoughts.

Tyci, hearing the saddened tone in her NetOp's voice, turned to face the cityscape. The two stood for a while, watching the people in the street going about the business, before Nik broke the silence. "Hey Tyci, what do you say to some virus busting?" he offhandedly asked. "Well, it's about time we did something!" she teased. Nik turned and walked into their new apartment. Despite a leather couch and a decent sized TV, the main room was scarcely furnished. It did, however, have a network connection, and that was what the duo was seeking. Flopping down on the couch, Nik strapped the DataPET to his hand and pulled his store of chips from a bag at his waist. "You ready?" he asked, looking down at the screen. "Come on already!" Tyci responded, her combat mask already drawn above her nose. Nik let out a small chuckle, then activated the transmit protocol.

    Dragomaw virus/chip
    I wanna join in!

    Virus: Dragomaw v1/v2/v3

v1 is black, v2 is crimson, and v2 is gold. Their eyes are yellow for v1 and v2, with v3's eyes being dark red.

    HP: 50/90/130

Attack: Chomp: Dragomaw uses it's mighty jaws to crunch down on its target. Pretty obvious. Damages for the different versions are 20, 40 and 60 respectively. The attack is relatively easy to avoid; a simple side or back step can foil this single minded attack. Each version of the virus has a faster movement speed than its predecessors, however, making the simple act of dodging more and more difficult as you climb up the ladder.

Background: This odd viruses have started sprouting up all over the 'Net ever since the emergence of the Cyber Beast Drauchen. Though no direct correlation has been found, one has to believe that the two are connected in some way. Not particularly menacing in individual numbers, flocks of these draconic viruses can give even the most experienced of virus busters a run for their money.

Chip: Dragon Chomp v1/v2/v3: The head of a Dragomaw virus appears and replaces the hand of the Navi who activated the chip. Once activated, the head can then be "punched" into a foe, whereupon it will deliver one of the Dragomaw's signature, bone-crushing crunches. Each version does 40, 80 and 120 damage respectively.

    So, whatcha think?

    Typecast.exe
Name: Typecast.exe, though Nik has taken to calling her Tyci for short.

    Gender: Female

    Element: Normal

    Type: Sword

Appearance: Tyci shares much of her predecessor's earlier physique, aside from the obvious differences. Extremely thin and only standing about 5'7", she has a strength that belies her size, as made evident by the weight of the scythe she carries. Her helmet, which has two spiky formations coming from the top and right side of her head, as well as one of Ergo's "side spikes", only allows for one of her eyes to be visible, though the other one can still somehow see what's going on around her. Her jumpsuit (during her normal state) is an off white while her armor is a mixture of varying shades of silver. Picture.

Personality: Tyci's persona is a mixture of what Nik was able to recover of Ergo's, as well as her own individual personality traits. She is usually friendly and outgoing towards others, sometimes to the point of annoyance. Since she is still trying to get used to her own sense of self, she is very curious and often times will find herself in a sticky situation because of it. There are times when she experiences what Nik calls "mood swings", during which some bit or another of Ergo's personality bubbles to the surface. Though she has most of Ergo's past memories, she tries to not let them define the type of Navi she's going to be.

Custom Weapon: E.R.G.O. Scythe - A huge scythe with a smaller blade on the butt end. It has the ability to retract its blades, enabling Tyci to use it as a normal staff when not in use. While it's in this state, the head of the staff bears a slight resemblance to the top of Ergo's helmet. The blade on the end of the scythe is able to be repositioned as Tyci sees fit, whether to act as another scythe or a spear.

Signature Attack: Typecast: This self titled Sig Attack is what makes Tyci live up to her name. By sacrificing a battle chip, she is able to integrate the element of the chip into her own data for a short period of time. While she is channeling the elemental data, her jumpsuit and armor change color to suit her new element and her attacks will flare, freeze, shock or splinter based on which element she has absorbed.
Mechanics: Once Tyci sacrifices a chip, she can no longer use any chip of the same name for the remainder of the fight, whether in battle or as another sacrifice. Once she has assumed her borrowed element, the effect will last for 3 turns, after which a 3 turn cool down must take place before she can use the move again.

History: After receiving a letter in the mail, Nik and Ergo journeyed to Sci Labs to participate in the product testing of a third party PET. There was nothing wrong with his current PET, but Nik's was rather dated and he figured that a new place for Ergo to live for a while would be a nice change, almost like a vacation for the Navi. So they went to the building, sat through the introduction meeting with a spattering of other civilian Net Ops and Navis, and eventually ended up in the testing room. That's when things began to go wrong. After having the PET activated and configured to Ergo's specifications, Nik began the process of uploading Ergo to the "new" PET.
The problem is that it wasn't "new". Earlier in the testing phase, another Navi had been loaded onto this particular PET to test the interface. When they were done and the Navi was removed, however, there was a fatal error in the early software and she perished before managing to be fully extracted. Even though the newest version of the software was bug-proof and had been uploaded onto the PET, the data of the previous Navi had not been removed.
The moment that Ergo leapt into the new PET, something in the system kicked in and realized that multiple Navis were inhabiting a single Navi space. So the system did what it thought was the only reasonable action: it made it so only one Navi was there. To Nik's horror his friend and partner was wiped away in a blur of spinning data. When the storm subsided, all that was left was a single female Navi, unconscious and lying on the "floor." Despite attempts to recover Ergo's data, the company was only able to gather bits and pieces, so completely were the two Navis data signatures merged. As compensation for his loss, Nik as allowed to keep the new PET and the Navi. He attempted to recover Ergo on his own computer, but due to his remedial programming skills he was only able to recover his memories and a small bit of his former personality. After uploading these little fragments of Ergo into the new Navi, Nik had no choice but to give up. Ergo was gone, and nothing could change that.
Nik has since dropped out of the bounty hunting circuit and is currently a freelance virus buster.
