Burninate!

"Sheesh," Zan whistled. "There sure are a lot of them."

"Aye Sire," Runeknight muttered. "We seem to be a tad outmanned."

"No worries. We've got enough guns to handle this lot. Just keep an eye out for any maneuvering on their part. We don't need to be surrounded by a group this large."

"Aye, Sire, you speak true. Where shall I focus my might?"

"Start with the dragons. Unfortunately, we lack the firepower to take them both out with one shot, so we'll have to strike individually. I'll send you the IceWaves and we'll move on from there."

"As you say, Sire."

Arion whinnied nervously and Runeknight raised a hand to steady the stallion. The viruses had yet to make a move, but anything could set them off and Runeknight was determined to make the first move. He glanced over the viruses, taking in their number and assessing what he knew about each one. There were two large bee-like creatures, queens from the look of them, with hives attached to their bottoms. Three robotic beetles stood below the bees, massive cannons supplanting their horns. Three of the apple viruses sat aside from the beetles, their ruby red shells protecting the tender flesh beneath. Another set of three viruses stood off to the right of the battlefield, these ones resembling small robots armed with three sets of needle cannons. Two more viruses, the aforementioned dragons, were like fiery seahorses floating above the ground. Runeknight would have his work cut out for him, but it wasn't anything he couldn't handle.

"So," Runeknight muttered. "Shall we dance?"

The knight could feel the familiar surge of energy that accompanied his liege's BattleChips. The power swelled within him, granting him the sheer strength and vitality of the gods themselves. Runeknight faced the dragons, ready to do what needed to be done, and dropped his arms low to his sides. Energy swirled through his body, shifting to infiltrate his hands and arms. He could feel the power, an iron strength pulsing through his veins, surging through his body.

A flurry of white snow danced between the fingertips of both hands and a coat of bluish ice crept up his arms. The flurry of snow expanded into a localized blizzard, a fury of ice and snow swirling around his hands and lower arms. Runeknight focused his will, set his sights on the two sea horses, and charged. Runeknight's long legs cut through the distance between himself and the viruses, his armored form moving in an ebony blur that brought him face to face with the fiery creatures. The numbing blizzard met the raging inferno as Runeknight slammed one icy uppercut toward the first of the dragons. A quick pivot brought Runeknight into a spinning backhand, his ice covered fist slicing through the air toward the temple of the second virus.

The knight backed away, the cracked ice falling away from his armored hands. He backpedaled away from the virus group, determined to not allow them to counter his offensive and gain a tactical advantage. Runeknight could still feel the surge of energy singing within his body and willed the next BattleChip into life. A blast of fiery energy ripped through him and his armored leg was suddenly clad in scarlet flames. Runeknight turned to face the apple covered viruses and he focused his will once more. The Navi pumped some of his own will into the flames surrounding his leg, the scarlet inferno deepening into vibrant cobalt. Runeknight took a running start, a quick five steps that brought him within range of the Applesamu, before leaping into a devastating roundhouse empowered by the searing flames and the rune of breaking that escaped with Runeknight's will.

Runeknight dropped to his knees and rolled to his left. He sprang to his feet with a short leap, bringing himself further away from the viruses. The knight spun around, his spear materializing in a burst of cobalt flames. The flames bathed the steel shaft, swirling around the serrated spearhead, and flared higher as Runeknight channeled the last of the BattleChip energy into the spear. Runeknight raised the spear above his head in a throwing position, taking aim at the trio of needle shooting viruses, and hurled the spear forward. The spear sailed through the air, flames devouring the air and growing stronger, as it headed straight toward the Needlers.

Runeknight takes down the Dragrins with little effort, his icy fists howling up a storm as he bashes the viruses in.
Retreating back from a barrage of Beetank bombs, the cobalt flame ignites his leg, adds some breaking properties, and wipes out the Applesamu row with a powerfully sweeping right roundhouse. He span those viruses right 'round.
Barrel-rolling out of the way of another Beetank blast, Runeknight thrust his spear, sending out some nasty flames at the Needlers. Poor things didn't stand a chance.
Runeknight's attacks smoldered the field, leaving some areas quite normal.

Runeknight smirked beneath his visor, satisfied with his accomplishments. He had wiped out over half of the viral horde in only a few seconds. However, the battle yet raged on and he had no time to rest. The knight gazed across the battefield, counting those allied against him and weighing their skills. It wa s apaltry group of two flying beehives and a trio of insectoid battle tanks. He doubted that they would prove troublesome, but he decided to wade in with overwhelming force despite his opponents' lack of strength.

Flames erupted along the knight's arms, stretching far past his outstretched fingertips to form twin blades of intense flame. Runeknight charged toward the hornet-like creatures attached to the beehives, fiery swords trailing behind him as he ran. The knightly Navi spun about in a quite circle, bringing one flaming sword slicing in a backhand chop that should have cleaved the twin bees in half. Runeknight brought the other sword to bare as well, heat radiating from the infernal blade as it flashed through the air toward the two honeybombers.

Runeknight spiraled away from the two viruses, focusing his attention on the remaining trio of tanklike beetles. The Navi clapped his hands together, the blades of flame colliding briefly before exploding outward in a wave of blistering heat. All that remained in Runeknight's grip was an ebony greatsword that shimmered in the fading light of the heatwave. Runeknight dashed forward, holding the sword in a doublehanded grip, and took a mighty chop at the first of the tanks. A quick sidestep brought Runeknight in range of the second tank and Runeknight dealt with it in kind. Runeknight took a third swing at the third tank, sword fairly whistling as it cut through the air. The Navi followed with another series of chops and slashes before dodging back away from the viruses.

In the distance, Runeknight sees a very, very familiar sight. Except this time... He gets closer to see for himself.

Yep. His eyes aren't screwing with him. It's a white blob, nearly three times as big as the one he faced before in SciLabs.

Unknown Program: 3500 HP
Runeknight: 300

Terrain: 10% Pungi (Scattered between Runeknight and Unknown Program); 20% Snare (Same as Pungi); 10% Poison (5 panel Cross, centered under Runeknight; 4 panel diamond centered around Unknown Program, with a Grass panel in between); 30% Grass (Scattered, notable clumps around Unknown Program); 30% Normal (Scattered)

OOOOOH SHIIIIIIII

BATTLE 5 START!!
"Well, that's..." Zan paused as he gazed at the massive white blob that hovered across from Runeknight. "That's unexpected. Do you think that is Arion's kindly old grandfather?"

"I would say not, Sire." Runeknight replied to Zan's rhetorical question. "I do believe that we have encountered another of Twi's rogue Support Programs."

"And this one is quite a bit bigger and meaner than the last. Boy, that Twi sure knows how to pick his bulbous monstrosities."

"Yes, someone should award his skills."

"Well, let's start by stopping this floating blob from harming any unwitting Navi. At least we have some experience in this field."

Runeknight raised an armored hand and laid it upon Arion's snout. The stallion seemed nervous at the arrival of the rogue support program and Runeknight tried to calm the noble animal. Arion whinnied softly, his eyes wide and locked on the hovering white mass.

"Easy boy," Runeknight murmured. "I know you are uneasy about fighting your brethren and I will not force you to partake in battle. However, it is my duty to prevent this creature from harming the Net or anyone denizen of these lands. Lend me your strength if you will, but stay safe above all else." Runeknight glanced at the bubbling muck at his feet. "This ground is unsafe. Stick to the dirt, away from the bubbling mud and the tall grass. Avoid the traps as well. Go and be well."

Arion whinnied in response and moved off to reach a safer location.

"You had best take your own advice, Runeknight," Zan counseled. "Your armor will protect you from the poison for awhile, but this ground will only hamper you in the fight to come."

"As you say, Sire."

Runeknight weaved his way through the treacherous terrain, moving toward the safer grounds scattered throughout the battlefield. He kept his eyes on the rogue program, alert for any treachery. The beast seemed content to float lazily above the earth, but Runeknight had battled its kind before and he knew the strength and skill hidden within its bulbous frame. This program was far larger than the white blob that was once Arion the spirit stallion. It no doubt was far more powerful and Runeknight would need to be prepared.

"Sire," Runeknight piped up. "How shall I proceed?"

"Well," Zan answered. "Let's start ranged and dish out the melee strikes if the program advances. I'll send you the Thunder2 and this Needler BattleChip we received in the last fight. Back them up with a spell or two and we'll see how the program responds before we continue on."

"That will be fine, Sire."

Runeknight could feel the surge of energy that always accompanied the power of his lord's arsenal. He felt a faint pull of force, like static raising the hairs on an arm, and willed the energy surge into his hands. His spear appeared in a blast of cobalt energy, lines of electricity dancing along the metallic shaft. The built up energy coalesced into a massive sphere of golden light that settled along the end of the spear. Runeknight slammed the butt of the spear against the earth, a flash of blinding light rippling across the battlefield, and the sphere of electricity left the metal shaft and rolled unerringly toward the floating white blob.

Runeknight knew that the sphere of energy would move toward the rogue program with little effort on his part and so he concentrated on his next strike. Runeknight raised his left arm and shouted a single word of power, cobalt flames erupting to gather into four spherical infernos that encircled the knight's outstretched hand. Runeknight shouted again and the spheres of flame darted forward, streaking through the air like arrows of light toward the floating mass. As they neared the blob, the four spheres spiraled together, forming a drill of flames that would shatter all defenses and impale the amorphous white beast with little trouble.

Runeknight muttered a quick series of words, raising his left arm skyward and summoning his power. Clouds gathered over the battlefield and thunder rumbled ominously. Lightning crackled amongst the gathered clouds, sparks of gold amidst ebony darkness.

"Lord," Runeknight shouted above the thunder. "Hear my cry! Send me your strength to strike down mine enemies!"

A flash of blinding light cut through the darkness as lightning gathered over the white blob, forming a massive bolt of energy that sliced through the air. The blast of sizzling light soared down through the air, heading straight for the rogue support program floating below.

Runeknight was on the move, heading for another patch of plain ground that would keep him from falling prey to the poison and traps hidden amongst the battlefield. He knew that the program was powerful and he wanted to keep moving to avoid being hit hard by the blob or caught within disadvantageous terrain. The knight had one last trick to play before he would gauge his enemy's movements.

Runeknight raised both arms parallel to the earth and chanted a quick spell of summoning. A circle appeared in the earth, burned in the ground by cobalt flames. From within the circle emerged a curious floating platform equipped with cannons on three sides and thrusters on the fourth. The creature resembled the needler virus that Runeknight had defeated mere minutes before. The platform floated forward, moving toward the rogue program and unleashed a volley of metallic spears, hurling two of the weapons toward the floating white blob.

Arion: Dodge to normal terrain
Runeknight starts strong, stunning the blob and setting it aflame amongst the patch of grass beneath it, before hitting it again with a lightning strike. As he dodges, however, he feels something bite into his leg and he falls down most ungracefully, splatting facefirst into a puddle of green gunk. Fortunantly for him, summoning the Needler doesn't require much motion on his part, as he's rendered immobile for the most part--now, how to get out before he swallows?

The Needler fires a barrage in three directions. One hits the blob, which shakes off the stun. There's a low whistle, as three long tenticles stem from the central blob. If Runeknight's head was above ground level, he might've recoiled in horror. Arion, however, has no such luck--seeing the hydra's three snarling heads, he somehow summons the resolve to stand his ground, despite all the dangers around him...

The three heads go after what had struck them last, smashing the Needler to bits before noticing the immobilized Navi playing ostrich. With a violent grab, it lifts Runeknight from the gunk and begins to shake him like a dog bone.

At least it's shaking off the filth...?

Unknown Program: 3120 HP (GRAB!)

"Urk!" Runeknight grunted as the long white tentacles wrapped around his armored chest. "Sire!"

"No worries Runeknight," Zan shouted. "This guy's tough, but we're not down and out yet. Though I have to tell you, this fight feels awfully familiar."

"'Tis true," Runeknight struggled to speak. "This beast is every bit as strong as his predecessor. "

"This program is more powerful than the last, but so are we. Show him the folly of going toe to toe with us!"

"Aye, he shall rue this day!"

Runeknight was pinned by the rogue program, lifted aloft with rubbery appendages wrapped around his chest and locking his left arm to his side. However, the knight could feel the familiar surge of power that accompanied a BattleChip and he doubted he'd be in this predicament for long. He redirected the flow of energy into his free arm, cobalt flame igniting in the palm of his right hand. The flames billowed out into a seven foot long pillar that blazed brightly before the flames exploded outward to reveal a massive sword crafted from obsidian and carved with glowing blue runes.

Runeknight flexed his muscles, corded strength tightening beneath their armored cage. The knight held the gigantic sword high above his head with one arm, fingers tightening around the leather bound hilt as he searched for a weak spot in the quickly constricting tentacles. Runeknight struck, the blade flashing an ebony streak through the air as it sliced down toward the milky white tentacle holding the Navi aloft.

Runeknight could not be sure if his strike would sever the tentacle, but he could attempt to force himself free from the program's grasp. The massive blade vanished from Runeknight's grip in a flash of cobalt light. The light remained after the blade was gone, encompassing the entirety of Runeknight right arm. A jagged crack formed in the greave of Runeknight's right arm, the armor pulling apart to reveal a rolling ocean of cobalt flame just beneath the surface of the knight's armor. The glow encompassing Runeknight's arm flared bright as he curled his fingers into a tight armored fist. The mystery program would learn not to come into melee range with a belted knight.

Runeknight took aim at the center of the blob, focusing his will and harnessing all of his strength into his shining fist. The knight struck, his fist pounding forward toward the white blob's rubbery flesh. The Navi cocked his fist back once more, flames boiling beneath his jet black armor, and slammed it toward the blob once more, intent on breaking the creature's hold and sending it flying back from whence it came.

It Runeknight could break free from the beast's grasp; he was intent on dodging away from the blob to another patch of normal terrain. He would need to recuperate and get his bearing back after being jostled about in the air. However, if he could not break the beast's hold; he would counter the creature's attacks with his empowered fist, slamming it into any tentacle that came his way.

Arion: Dodge ((Staying on Normal))
Runeknight takes advantage of his precarious position and pummels the center of the Mysterious Program, his mighty punch sending him flying out with the tentacle-like head of the program acting as a bungee cord, drawing him back--for yet another punch. And another. With a sickening liquid slurp, the neck of the head that was holding Runeknight rips apart on the last blow, it and Runeknight flying out away from the main body. Luckily for Runeknight, he just barely misses flying into a swamp of crap and sticks his landing next to Aron. The dismembered head is nowhere to be seen...

Meanwhile, the main body's two remaining heads roar in a mockery of a true dragon, as four massive batlike wings sprout from its sides and it takes to the air, raking the ground with its two heads, now both sporting horns. Aron barely evades the hits, but Runeknight is gored in a pincer spike!

The mystery program dived forward, its charge aided by wings that had emerged from its bulbous hide. The horns on the beasts remaining head dipped low, like twin lances awaiting the clash. The bull-like charge of the mystery program caught Runeknight full in the chest, horns ripping through the knight's ebony armor and gouging deep in the tender flesh beneath. Runeknight lurched forward with the impact, his body folding around the program's head, and a thin spray of scarlet splattered against the lower half of his visor. Runeknight spat out a small bit of digitized blood and groaned softly.

"Hang in there, Runeknight." Zan shouted. "Remember, 'Pain is life — the sharper, the more evidence of life.'"

"Sire," Runeknight groaned. "I hardly think this the time to be quoting Sterne."

"True, but this is the time to smash that thing's brains in!"

"Aye," Runeknight grinned beneath his visor, teeth stained crimson. "I must thank this beast for staying in range."

Runeknight gripped the creature's horns in one hand and tightened the other into a fist. His knuckles cracked and flames billowed from the crevasse that had opened between the armored plates covering his arm. Runeknight raised his fist high and slammed it down, aiming for the back of the creature's skull. He pumped his fist back a second time and let fly with a hook, fist barreling down toward the spot that could be considered the program's temple. With any luck, his strikes would destroy the creature's brain, disabling it and ending the battle. However, no matter what happened with the creature, the knight should have been able to use the force of his strikes to slip away and gain better footing.

Runeknight did just that, attempting to dodge away from the mystery program with a shove and a backwards somersault. Runeknight's momentum brought him back to his feet and he quickly gauged his surroundings. The terrain favored the blob; even more know that it had grown wings. He needed to maintain his footing on even ground, preferably the kind without spikes and snares or noxious fumes.

"I suppose that I shall have to create a more favorable battlefield," Runeknight muttered.

"I've got just the thing," Zan answered. "See if you can't sheer off a few of those wings while you're at it. Maybe if the blob only has wings on one side of its body, it'll tumble into one of the traps littering this field."

"Aye Sire," Runeknight agreed. "But first I must aid myself a bit."

The fires raging across Runeknight's arm died off as the crevasse sealed shut and the aura surrounding his fist vanished. The knight took no heed of this and instead concentrated on the air just above the floating blob. Runeknight began a quick spell, opening a portal to the abysmal world beneath his own. This would be the first time that he had attempted an aerial gateway, but he doubted the white mass would be hampered by his usual grounded efforts. The knight ran off a quick series of words, each sounding more mythical and complex than the last, and poured his willpower into each syllable. He raised his left hand, angled slightly higher than parallel to the ground, with his palm up toward the blob and his fingers slightly curved. A mass of dark energy formed in the air above the mystery program, spiraling faster and thinning out with each rotation to form an ebony disk that hovered in the air. Darkness rumbled across the surface of the smooth disk, along with crimson bolts of energy that danced across it light lightning moving along the surface of a lake. Runeknight summoned the creature that lurked within the portal and loosened the bonds that held it in check. The surface of the gateway exploded downwards as tendrils of jet black flames escaped the portal, each seeking to extinguish life and sate an unnatural hunger.

That hunger almost overtook Runeknight and the knight had to steel his mind to prevent the creature within the portal to gain full freedom. He could feel the sheer need of the beast, the unquenchable hunger for the life force of others and the uncontrollable rage it felt at being bound by Runeknight's spells. The fiery tendrils lashed about, threatening to latch onto the floating white mass and devour its strength. Runeknight could tap into the energy that the tentacles stole, using it to restore his own vitality, and he intended to do just that. And once the tentacles had their fill, before the creature that wielded them could devour enough to gain the freedom it desired, Runeknight would reassert his control and severed the link to the abyss that he had opened, closing the gateway and banishing the creature back to whence it came.

"Alright Runeknight," Zan called. "I just received this new sword in a trade. It should give us a bit of an edge."

Runeknight felt the surge of energy swell throughout his body and he focused it into his hands, willing it to materialize. A jet of flame escaped the knight's palm, stretching out to five feet in length. Runeknight grasped the last foot of the flame and it writhed in his hand, forming the hilt of a sword. The hilt was crafted from some silvery metal with a sapphire set in the pommel and a straight crossbar while the grip was wrapped in black leather. The rest of the flames receded to form a magnificent blade of ebony steel that shimmered in the light. A single rune was engraved into the steel near where the blade met the crossbar, the rune for fire. Runeknight spoke the rune aloud and cobalt flames ignited along the length of the blade, bathing the battlefield in blue light and dark shadows.

Runeknight gauged the speed of the flying blob. It was wounded, but not enough to be truly hampered. Runeknight would have to be quick and strike true if he wished to injure the beast. The knight spoke another word and a runic symbol flashed within the sapphire mounted in the pommel of the sword, the rune of breaking. Runeknight steeled himself and made his move, dashing toward the blob in a running leap and slashing the sword vertically in a double-handed chop. Runeknight aimed for the wings along the blob's right side. He hoped to sever the two wings and overbalance the blob, sending in tumbling to the earth. With any luck, his strike would prove true.

Runeknight pummels the giant flying program before slashing at its wings, sending one such appendage flying out and the giant monstrocity spiraling down to earth, crashing with a liquid splotch. "Damn," Runeknight muttered as he glanced toward Arion's whinny. "Arion, do what you can to get back to the path! Stay away from the grass and the hidden snares!"

Arion whinnied in response and struggled to obey his master. The warhorse reared up on his hind legs and slammed them down onto the ground, powerful forelegs cracking the earth beneath them. With each slam, Arion tried to kick his rear legs free of the snare. The stallion struggled to regain proper footing, to move toward the vestiges of the path that remained amongst the overgrowth.

The knight backpedaled away from the hovering beast, his strikes having only severed one of the creature's four wings. The ebony blade continued to burn brightly, flames licking hungrily along the length of steel. Runeknight tightened his grip on the leather bound hilt and focused his senses on the task at hand. He needed to ground the beast and was determined to sever its remaining wings.

Runeknight dashed forward, sword held low and behind him as he charged. His free hand reached across his waist to grasp the sword in a two handed grip. Runeknight neared the amorphous blob and swung the fiery sword up in a cleaving uppercut. He aimed the strike to cut across the blob, slicing two of the wings and the center of the creature itself. As the blade sailed high, Runeknight twisted his grip and the sword flashed straight down, a cobalt and ebony streak threatening to sever the two wings on the creature's right side.

Runeknight lunged away once more, certain that a counter attack was to follow. His feet slammed against the hard packed earth, each step maneuvering across the treacherous terrain. The knight attempted to circle around the beast, hand held tight around the blade as he searched for a weakness within his opponent.

"There!" Runeknight shouted. "I'll chop you in half, fiend!"

Runeknight lunged forward, sword arm cocked at the elbow and held across his chest. He sliced downward in a backhand slash, flaming sword poised to cut into the beast just above where its upper wing met its white flesh. The strike would sever the wing, rend the blob in twain, and emerge just below where the lower wing attached to the blob on its other side. With any luck, the blow would decimate the creature and leave it writhing on the floor.

As Runeknight lays down the justice on the giant blob, rending wings and tenticle alike with his furious blows, he notices that the mysterious program's movements become more and more delayed--as he lays down the final cut, he is surprised by a sudden jerk from the other side of the blade! Before he can recover it, the FireSword leaps from his hand, rapidly plunging into the center of the blob, as it begins to reform in the shape of... an egg? The outer layer begins to harden, and the entire mass begins to pulsate to a constant rhythm... Ba-bump. Ba-bump.

As Runeknight is stuck observing the transformation, he hears a screech behind him--the first severed wing is thrashing wildly! He looks on in horror, as it splits into two wings--then sprouts a serpentine head and a long, barbed tail!

"Bah," Runeknight cursed as he stumbled away from the pulsating egg. "I have lost my sword."

"No worries," Zan said. "We still have plenty of weaponry at our disposal."

Zan watched as the amorphous white blob closed in on the fiery blade and coalesced into an egg. The mystery program began to harden around the encased sword, forming an opaque shell. Both Runeknight and Zan could hear the steady pulse that emitted from the blob, a deep, resounding heartbeat.

"However, I don't think I like the sound of that." Zan muttered.

"Dost thou think it plans to use the sword to incubate life?" Runeknight asked.

"I don't know and I don't particularly wish to find out. Try and smash that thing before whatever is inside it is ready to emerge."

"Suggestions, Sire?"

"Yeah, though it's risky. I was thinking that we could heat up the shell and then cool it rapidly. It may allow you to shatter the egg with a well placed attack. However, heat could also speed up whatever that thing is doing in there."

"We shall have to risk it, then."

"Alright, I'll send you the BattleChips. Do your best to take out that wing in the process. I'll send you something that will help you get it between you and the egg."

"As you say, Sire."

Runeknight could feel the build up of power that accompanied his lord's BattleChips, a surge of energy that cascaded throughout his body, always spiraling around the Rune of Naming that was located on his chest. The knight didn't bother to guide the flow of energy, instead letting it envelope him completely. A pillar of flames erupted from the earth beneath Runeknight, consuming him, and when the flames vanished the knight went with them. A second pillar erupted across the battlefield, Runeknight appearing with it, placing the serpentine wing between the roaring flames and the hardening egg.

The pillar of flames diminished, swirling across Runeknight's armored form and spiraling down to form twin infernos within each of the knight's hands. Runeknight took quick aim, sighting the creature that was once a wing as a target between himself and the pulsating, white blob. Runeknight reached back with both arms and threw the spherical infernos forward, each stretching into a line of flames that would intersect at the wing and continue on to sear the egg. With any luck, the flames would serve to heat up the egg so that a sudden cooling would weaken the shell.

Runeknight stepped back, adjusting his aim as he summoned up a second volley of flames. The knight raised his hands just in front of his armored chest, fingers stretched toward each other, but not touching. A third ball of flames appeared between his hands, swirling constantly. A high pitched shriek pierced the air as Runeknight hurled the sphere toward the blob. The sphere sprouted wings of flame as it sailed across the battlefield, releasing another ear-rending screech. The fiery bird soared toward the blob, the serpentine creature directly in its path, leaving a trail of flames in its wake.

Hopefully the flames would be enough to heat up the egg. Now it was time to cool it down fast enough to crack the shell. Runeknight spouted a quick batch of syllables; raising his left hand with his palm pointed toward first the wing and then the egg beyond. A torrent of water flashed forth from the palm of the knight's hand, heading straight toward the wing. The flood of water would be enough to overwhelm the wing and smash against the egg, where hopefully the cold stream would cool the egg fast enough to weaken the shell enough to crack its defenses.

"Now!" Runeknight shouted.

Cobalt flames erupted along Runeknight's outstretched arms and formed a quartet of fiery lances that shot toward the egg. The lances spiraled around each other, forming a corkscrew of flames that would smash against the egg. The searing flames roared as they cut across the battlefield, heading straight toward the hardened program, intent on smashing through and obliterating whatever lay within.

Meanwhile, Arion struggled against the bonds that held him once more, his hooves crashing against the ground with resounding force. He whinnied in pain as the snare bit into his leg, but he would not stop attempting to free himself.

"Hang in there," Runeknight shouted encouragement. "I shall free you in no time, but first I must slay this foul beast before it can end both of our lives."
