SOUNDMAN INSIDE, LOL.

A flash of light, a burst of sound, and a- small jingle?

And Soundman was jacked in. He looked around warily for a moment, then realized, quite quickly, where he was. "Your... PC, Trenn? Why are we in here?"

"Ah! Crap." Trenn whacked his hand on his forehead, "I forgot that I didn't explain it to you. There's someone that's been going around stealing data from PCs on the ACDC network, and we've been given a mission by the Netpolice to stop 'em. ...They seem to have come to us, however, if you get my drift."

"Oh! Oh, I get it. I'll keep an eye open." Soundman replied, shifting into a stance. He then started to walk around quietly, looking for anything... out of place.

((Mission START))
Unusual wasn't the word for what Soundman found in Trenn's PC....

((----Link Removed----))

He arrived to see an uninvited female Navi, designed to resemble a Kunoichi, strike at a HeelNavi with a metallic looking fan while running directly at Soundman. A quick wind and flick of the wrist resulted in a flourishing slash that dispatched her opponent with the fan's razor sharp edge as she ran past. Looking past her, Soundman could see that she was pursued by no less than 3 more intruders; every one of them Heel Navis.

"I'm almost out of h--" The ninja Navi eventually looked in the direction she was running, and finally saw Soundman. As she skidded to a stop, she greeted him with "Haaaaiiiiii there." She sounded, as well as looked, very surprised to see him standing there. "Wooo, startled me." she said, as if she had any right to be in Trenn's PC. She added a somewhat-out-of-breath "So, yeah...." that trailed off a bit, leaving one with the impression that she would explain herself... that is, until she chirped a quick, happy sounding "Bye~" and just blinked out.

Her footsteps could be heard somewhere behind Soundman, as her area grab maneuver deposited her a short distance away, and gaining, as she continued to run full-tilt away from her pursuers.

....And, of course, left Soundman to deal with the Heel Navis chasing her.

"Wait- what?" Was the only thing Soundman managed to say before he spotted the Heelnavis, then went running, full-tilt, after the 'kunoichi', with a yell of "TRENNNNNNNN!"

"I'm on it, I'm on it!" Trenn tapped a few icons on the PET's display, and a small orb simply *appeared* behind Soundman, and hovered in the air for a few moments- then hurled itself at the ground with a small 'whuff' of displaced air, and shattered. Not a second later, a large, smooth sheet of ice erupted outward from the point where the small orb hit, creating a wide, slippery patch of ice between Soundman and the Heelnavis. Trenn hoped that would distract them long enough for him to get some answers...

Soundman squinted, attempting to focus on a spot seemingly in the distance as he sprinted after the Kunoichi, then with a small 'ding', not unlike that of a small bell, or that annoying, annoying sound that your computer makes at times, he simply... disappeared. And then reappeared next to the Kunoichi, still running in a probably-vain attempt to keep up with her.

"So!" Soundman said a little bit too loudly, "Care to tell me what's going on here, miss?" There was a thin veneer of friendliness that scarcely covered the distrust and annoyance in the words, but for the moment, it was all Soundman could do not to simply tackle her or try to hit her.

1: Icewave1 @ Ground behind Soundman (Attempt to delay Heelnavis by creating an ice slick) (80, Aqua)
2: Areagrab to catch up with 'Kunoichi'
3: RUN. RUN. RUN.
4: RUN. RUN. RUN.
Soundman's Icewave caused the lead Heel Navis to flinch, dodging aside and ceasing the chase. The third HeelNavi, who had been using his comrades for cover, took the hir full-on when his allies jumped aside... leaving him with nowhere to go and not enough time to do anything else. Not exactly according to Soundman's plan, but....

Meanwhile, Soundman's areagrab deposited him next to the running Navi. His question got the half-panicked response; "Suddenly, HeelNavis, hundreds of them!" And that's all he got before one of the fore-mentioned HeelNavis stepped out from around a corner, and shot the yet-to-be-identified Kunoichi with a TankCannon1. Her form went up in smoke, leaving a deflating dummy in it's place.

Then, from out of nowhere, it began to rain raccoons on the cannon-wielding HeelNavi. A half dozen of them landed upon and skittered about on the hapless purple Navi for a few, very confusing seconds. Then, suddenly, they all lept away, carrying zenny, chips, and lord knew what else (his long-barrel cannon was missing, somehow), and left him holding a lit bomb instead... Which promptly went off in his face, deleting him, and the Navi rounding the corner behind him, instantly. A third HeelNavi was spared by his quick reflexes.

Meanwhile, Soundman noticed yet another group of HeelNavis chasing after something a good ways off to his right...

Things were getting out of hand (just a bit)....

((This post is short because 1: It's a turn splice, and 2: THERE'S NOT MUCH TO RP ABOUT RUNNING))

Soundman yelled something incomprehensible yet somehow obscene, then ran after the Heelnavis to the right.

--TURN SPLICE!--

1: RUN
Soundman makes it as far as a couple of steps from the corner around which the HeelNavis had run a little earlier. The sounds of gunfire and striking blades echo from around the corner. Soundman hears at least one solid thud, most likely a defeated Navi, among the chaos.

((No summary for you.... yet.))
Soundman neared the corner quietly, and popped open a private line. "Trenn."

"Yeah, Soundman?" Came Trenn's response over the line.

"Pass me a Guard1, could you? There's some fighting around the corner here..." Soundman asked, leaning against the wall and creeping closer to its' edge.

"Roger that."

A golden-orange shield, made entirely out of energy and with a handle on the inside, materialized in front of Soundman, who grabbed it- and then proceeded to dart around the corner. Without looking first.

Stupid...

---Turn Splice the second---

2: Guard1 (Reflect <60 from one hit, takes x2 from break)
3: Round the corner
The first thing Soundman saw was a HeelNavi's sword attack fail to strike the back-pedaling custom Navi. However, his partner, standing behind her, managed to connect with his widesword attack, causing her to flinch. The machinegiun-toting Navi was nowhere to be seen, and another lay at the ninja's feet, data dissipating into deletion... Soundman caught the end of something the kunoichi was saying... "--ctivate!"

The cyberspace around the ninja wavered as whatever she'd invoked caused the area around her to lag-out a bit. A moment later, dozens of small black blades exploded from the space around the Navi. The wave of blades turned the two sword wielding HeelNavis into pin cushions before they could so much as blink.... Unfortunately, that same attack was about to do the same to Soundman....
"Whoa crap!" Soundman quickly dived back behind the corner with a yell, and fell flat on his face.

---End of turn splice!---

4: DIVE, MEN! DIVE!
Soundman successfully avoids the cloud of blades, but looks up to see the HeelNavis he had ignored earlier running towards him. He knew he was in trouble when the one closest to him summoned an Iron Shield, and another weapon behind it where Soundman couldn't see...

Soundman quickly got up, holding out one of his arms and firing off a rapid staccato of drum beats and, subsequently, musical notes at the Heelnavi with the IronShield1. Sure, they only did one damage, but the Heelnavi behind the shield didn't know that... and Soundman doubted he'd risk popping out from behind cover with his allies not here yet.

Soundman rounded the corner, and attempted to run, firing his last few Prestissimo drum beats at whichever sap came around the corner first. His next step upon the ground activated his Floatshoes, sending him floating along a small distance above the ground as opposed to running along it.

This stability allowed Soundman to adjust his soundboard forearms while he looked ahead to make sure he didn't run into something, preparing his Restez signature for use.

When the proper preparations were complete, Soundman flipped what was in essence a switch mentally, causing the by-now familiar sounds and sights of his Restez attack to capture him in its' protective embrace. The same, perfectly recorded and reproduced, shimmering silver sheet music wrapped around him as he sped along the ground, forming a barrier that he knew was complete when he heard that note...

Soundman himself, meanwhile, simply willed himself to continue floating faster and faster after the Kunoichi. ...Or so he hoped.

--Turn Splice--

1: Prestissimo (10x1 @ Heelnavi F, 10x1 to whoever rounds the corner first.)
2: Restez (80HP Barrier @ Soundman)
3: Run- or float, rather, after the Kunoichi
The notes strike the shield until it fails, then the Navi behind it, who flinches, expecting something more than what he got hit with. When the notes merely sting him, instead of doing any major harm, he looks up, rather annoyed.... Only to find that Soundman has made his escape.

Meanwhile, Soundman, in a fitting bit of irony, dashes around the corner to find that the Kunoichi has similarly made herself scarce. He fires a barrage of notes, which hit the rather annoyed looking HeelNavi storming around the corner, visibly angered at being made a fool of. The Navi throws an odd device at his feet, and kicks it spitefully... The strange little device scurries after Soundman as the HeelNavi grins, baring teeth.

It's not a happy grin.

((Bump Count: 5))
Soundman, however, remained blissfully unaware of this fact, still floating quickly ahead. He looked at the Guard in his hand for a moment, then smiled, getting an idea.

"Hey Trenn, watch this!" Soundman shouted, laughing. He threw the guard down in front of him, handle upward, then landed on it, and continued his float while 'surfing' atop the Guard1 chip. "What do you think of this?"

"Interesting. It might protect you from ground attacks, too. Either way, it looks like that guy's sent something after you--" At this, a small screen showing the offending object tailing Soundman popped up in front of him, "--so you'll probably want to be trying to dodge and weave a little bit."

"Yeah. But more importantly... where did that Kunoichi girl go?" Soundman replied, dodging and weaving back and forth atop the Guard as though he were a natural-born surfer.

--End of Turn Split--

Free action: Get on top of Guard1
4: Dodge
Soundman's music delivers a couple of blasts of damage to a few of the HeelNavis, and one of them returns fire. His Restez kicks in first, though, absorbing the shot. Then, he was off running, with the other three Navi's in pursuit.

The contraption the third Navi put down races after Soundman at breakneck speed, and rams the Guard, sending him for a spill, but otherwise, he's unharmed.

The Navi who had the shield catches up to him. "Think you could get away? Try it again, I dare you." he sneers.

((Lol, shortpost))

"Who said anything about running?" Soundman said. He then flopped about on the ground, making an odd motion which somehow flipped him upright, then shook his hand about, causing it to morph into a giant, three-pronged monstrosity, claws made out of some ivory substance that vaguely resembled piano keys. He then lurched forward arm-first, newly-formed Rageclaw grasping the air rapidly in an attempt to sink its' claws into the Heelnavi nearby.

The three claws finally grasped something, and Soundman grabbed at it and pulled, bringing it behind him and hurling it at the Heelnavis that were approaching. Soundman shook his hand about once more, freeing it of the Rageclaw data and causing the ivory claws to shatter and fall to the ground in tinkling shards. Soundman then shouted "It's not running-- it's a tactical retreat!" over his shoulder as he began to flee from the three Heelnavis chasing him.

1: Get up

Prestissimo: Finished Cooling Down! Usable next turn!
Restez: Not Cooling Down
Soundman manages to grapple and hurl the Heel Navi back towards the other two. The Heel Navi in the lead sees this, and attempts to brake his run while bracing for the inevitable clobbering by the flying Heel Navi. The is when his Rage-claw equipped partner, who didn't slow down at all, passes him, fields the flying Navi, and throws him back at Soundman.

Soundman wasn't able to catch the exchange between the two, but the former lead's fearful expression, accompanied by his about-face'd bolt in the other direction, left little to wonder. But a series of buster shots striking the ground around Soundman told him he had other things to worry about...

Soundman turned on his heels to face the Heelnavis, and sent a single line of text over the private line between him and Trenn: I need that Thunder2 for something.

In the real world, Trenn seemed perplexed by the command, but shook his head and tapped the icon for the chip anyway. "What are you up to, Soundman...?"

A second line popped up, this one unexpected. You'll see.

Clack-clack-CLACK went Soundman's backpack subwoofer, detaching from its' master, who grabbed it and held it in his hands. As the Thunder2 data came down the line, Soundman simply transferred it all through his arms and into his backpack.

When the process was complete, he grabbed it by the cords that usually attached it to his forearm equalizers, and began swinging it over his head like a bola.

Now, in real life, grabbing a heavy, electrified subwoofer by its' cords would be a very, very bad idea for one of a few reasons, either from the cord breaking, getting shocked, etc.

But this is the internet, and thus, when Soundman hurled the electric subwoofer backpack at the unlucky Heelnavi who had been flung back at him, there was a minimal amount of eyes batted, or mouths left hung open.

Except maybe the Heelnavi's, if it hit.

Soundman, however, did not stick around to find out; rather, he simply turned around and continued running.

1: Imbue Subwoofer Backpack with Thunder2 (Thunder2 = 80 Elec + Stun 1 + Homing)
2: Throw Subwoofer Backpack at Heelnavi F
3: Turn and run.
4: Dodge

Prestissimo: Usable!

Restez: Not Cooling Down
The heavy Subwoofer was flung into the air, where it flew with the trajectory of a rock. It didn't travel far before it smashed into the ground, never even coming close to striking the Heel Navi. The moment it hit the ground, it blasted its surroundings with a powerful burst of interference as the speaker broke. The HeelNavi, previously trying to shoot Soundman while setting up for a half-decent landing, instead dropped his gun, and slapped both hands over the sides of his head. He crashed into the gound, and continued laying there, his hands pressed against the sides of his head, groaning in pain. He didn't appear to even try to get back up after that.

The other two were either too far behind to effectively attack Soundman or were running away. It would appear his chances of escape were looking up.

Ahead of him, a broken fan lay on the ground, abandoned in the middle of an intersection of alleys between building-like databanks.

And so Soundman kept running for a short while, his somewhat-more-quiet footfalls impacting rhythmically on the ground as he ran- and then he stopped, with seemingly no cause, and looked behind him.

It would appear he had lost the Heelnavis for now.

"That was amazing, Soundma-" Trenn started, only to be stopped by Soundman holding up a hand.

Ahead of him, a fan, broken, lay upon the ground. Intersections ran off in every-which-direction from this point. Soundman didn't bother following any of them. He simply picked up the fan, closed his eyes...

And listened.

When Soundman listens, he does not simply pause, stick out his ear, and go 'what's that?' as you or I would. He stills every aspect of himself, and completely diverts almost all of his processing power to picking up any sound, no matter how small or seemingly unimportant. Even his breathing, fake though it is, is halted for this.

For one sheer moment, it becomes extraordinarily clear that Soundman is not human; humans breathe. Humans have hearts that beat, blood that sings in their ears when winded; Soundman has none of these.

And that is why he is so good at listening.

1: Stop. Pick up the fan.
2-4: Listen.
Soundman hears a rustling, almost scurrying, sound from a moderate distance away, accompanied by the faint sounds of a raccoon. It was coming from the alley ahead and to his left.
