My statement still stands. The DS has more graphical power than the 64. The 64 is better than RPGmaker.

Uh, hate to say it, but RPGMaker IS bottom-rung as far as game development goes. It was made to be simple and accessible to anyone, not to be powerful or dynamic.
That said, I've seen some great stuff done with it. It all depends on the user's creativity.

Doesn't change a thing. In fact, it can make things seem even stupider. If you really can script (to the point were you can make a good game in XP), then making your own RPG from scratch isn't far off at all.
Making games aren't as hard as people would think it to be. Just look at Flash. Flash isn't a "game maker", you have to make almost everything from scratch there, and yet we see thousands of games arise. That's what makes me belive that things like RPG maker only gives empty promises and prevents people who could really do well from doing something worthwhile.
But those is just my feelings. ^^;
