While the mathematician called down a storm to convert the outer field, the catack lobbed a wide-ranging bomb of its own, but the shell exploded mid air above him, hitting nothing. The brief distraction belied a more accurate crack-shot from the cannon turret, however, which punched into Asymptote's bulky frame with precision. It was somewhat mitigated by the continuing glow of energy feeding back into the behemoth from the solar panels beneath his feet, though not entirely.
Next, Asymptote focused on the floating cube just beyond the data crystal; it shot first, lancing a red laser beam in his direction, though the bar of light was just a hair wide and didn't connect. Asymptote's phasing electrical attack was much more true to aim, and as the light passed harmlessly through the crystal in a direct line towards its real target, the cube was scourged from the network before it could do any more harm.
Just as Asymptote cleaned up that particular problem, however, a crackling electrical pulse exploded over his back and side, sending more disruptive jolts into his body; the magneaker had taken another shot and this time managed to connect; fortunately for the navi, the rippling static wave didn't seem to strike or damage the nearby mystery data, though only by the chance of gaps in the spreading effect.
Asymptote darted forward and slammed the offending bug off the network with a single solid strike, but even as he recovered from the extension, another ball of electrical energy thumped into him as the Billy continued to make itself a hassle. The sound of another blast followed, and a second later an new shell from the catack on the outside landed between Asymptote and the mystery data, and exploded across them both. The solar panels beneath his feet sparked and crackled out, laced with spiderweb cracks and fractures; under his weight, they began to feel dangerously unstable now ,and no longer fed him sustaining energy.
Asymptote countered with a buffed up hairball of electricity which, despite its slower transit, still managed to find its mark on the even slower catack, the force of it arcing down through the ground beneath the virus and destroying it.
Somewhere in the melee, the cannon had also tried to fire at him again, but fortunately its second shot had managed to miss him. Asymptote had more to worry about, however, as his position grew steadily more inundated. A second cannon turret rose up from the ground, opposite the first, behind the centre that Asymptote had occupied, while a second magneaker crept in from one side. A heavy metal clanking to the other side announced a hatch opening, to admit a slow-moving IronShield as well. As soon as it set itself on the battle field, the virus locked itself into place and lowered its shield, ready for a fight. If that weren't enough of a problem, the build of of discordant electrical currents crashing through Asymptote were beginning to take a toll on his systems, and as he extra speed faded away, he found himself stunned and disoriented to an almost crippling degree.
-=Viruses=-
CatackCatack (Catack)
Catacks move at a slow rate and their dodges are generally bad. They can, however, attack in any direction while moving or attempting to dodge.
Area: SciLab, Electown, Dentech, Beach, Hades Isle
HP: 120
Attack Damage/Effect: 20 Null + Panel Crack + Blast2
Attack Accuracy: B
Attack Description: Blasts enemy with TankCannon.
Element: None.
Possible Rewards (Per Virus): TankCannon1, Zenny
Special: May Move/Dodge while attacking.
Special: Slow: DELETED
MagneakerMagneaker (Magneaker)
Magneaker viruses move and dodge slowly. Magneakers attack by launching MagBombs by default. When there is a stunned enemy on the field, however, they will instead charge at the stunned opponent with surprising speed. They are quick to react to the presence of stunned enemies, and execute this attack with very little delay. The DashAttack counts as a dodge against opponents attacking from any angle except dead-on or from directly behind the Magneaker. Magneakers do not charge at un-stunned enemies, unless there is a stunned target in-line with them. Magneakers have Omnishoes while executing a charge attack.
Area: Electown, Dentech, SciLab
HP: 70
Primary Attack Damage/Effect: 15 Elec + Stun 1 + Blast 2
Primary Attack Accuracy: D
Primary Attack Description: Fires an EMP bomb that stuns the enemy.
Secondary Attack Damage/Effect: 10 Elec + Impact + Piercing + Stopped by Object
Secondary Attack Accuracy: B
Secondary Attack Description: When an enemy on the field is stunned, this virus will spin around to face them, and immediately fly at them at high speed for an opportunistic body-slam attack.
Element: Elec
Possible Rewards (Per Virus): MagBomb1, Zenny
Special: Stopped by Object: Attack ceases execution when blocked by an Object. Attacks with this attribute also do not damage objects.: PING!
CannonGuardCannonGuard (CannonGuard)
CannonGuards are automatically in guard mode unless they are attacking. When guarding, the turret is protected by a shutter that will stop any and all non-breaking attacks from the front. This shutter cannot be destroyed, even by a breaking attack, so long as the virus exists. The shutter does not protect the turret portion of the virus against attacks from the back or sides. The base of the virus is also immune to non-breaking damage.
Area: SciLab, Kotobuki Town, Netopia, NAXA
HP: 60
Attack Damage/Effect: 15 Null + Lockon
Accuracy: A
Attack Description: Locks on and attacks
Element: None
Possible Rewards (Per Virus): MarkCannon1, Zenny
Special: Immobile.
Special: Target's evasion counts less against this virus.
Special: Can guard against attacks.: 60Hp [Metal][central left, outside the pylons]
DBLCUBEDBLCUBE (DBLCUBE)
This virus is essentially a flying, color changing RockCube. It flips between Red (attack mode) and blue (recovery mode) every time it takes a hit.
Area: SciLab, NAXA
HP: 100
Primary Attack Damage/Effect: 20 Null x 3 Targets
Primary Attack Accuracy: A
Primary Attack Description: The virus turns red, and fires red colored energy beams at three enemies that inflict damage.
Secondary Attack Damage/Effect: 15 Healing x 3 Targets
Secondary Attack Accuracy: S
Secondary Attack Description: The virus turns blue, and fires blue colored energy beams at three allies that recover HP.
Element: Null
Possible Rewards (Per Virus): DBLBeam1, Zenny
Special: Getting hit changes it's color.
Special: Omnishoes: DELETED
BillyBilly (Billy)
Billy viruses move and dodge at average rates. They attack by shooting electricity from their lightning-rod-like arms, either in the form of a homing thunderball or a pair of lightning bolts. They cannot attack while moving.
Area: SciLab, Electown, Netopia
HP: 80
Primary Attack Damage/Effect: 15 Elec + Stun 1 + Homing
Primary Attack Accuracy: C
Primary Attack Description: Generates a Thunderball, and fires it at the enemy. The thunderball travels slowly, but it homes in on the target. Causes stun on contact
Secondary Attack Damage/Effect: 10 Elec + Seeking x 2 targets.
Secondary Accuracy: B
Secondary Description: Fires a lightning bolt from each lightning rod arm that pierces Invis. It cannot target the same enemy with both bolts.
Element: Elec
Possible Rewards (Per Virus): Thunder1, ThunderBeam1 (Rare), Zenny: 80Hp [Metal][back right on the metal ring, at about 2 o'clock]
