Cooking Class

After transferring back to his PET for a quick recovery, SliceMan appeared through a transfer portal in an area in Dentech. His hands were balled up in an enthusiastic, stretched-out pose as he exclaimed, "I'm here! Let's go!", before walking off at a rather jittery pace. Norton grunted out a sigh as he watched his Navi explore the area, in search of new fanciful experimentation subjects.

[Battle 1 - Ready!]
[SliceMan.EXE: 100 HP.]
Eager to go, SliceMan ventured into the Dentech nets knives ready. Things were certainly a lot cleaner here, more sterile, and definitely better kept. His excursions towards finding potential culinary treasures didn't take too long, fortunately; a small side corridor he passed opened onto a simple-looking room, with its floor marked out in lines of sterilised glass, interposed with strips of short-cropped grass.

The reason for this odd set up was clear; a small variety of uses seemed to be housed here, for whatever reason. A strip of magnet panels crossed the doorway, but beyond that a selection of wooden blocks rested on the grass trips, and seemed to have a number of shrubby hiding behind them, while further back a mushroom virus, and a metool were mostly minding their own business. One of the wood blocks had something other than a virus behind it, too, emitting a faint green glow.

"Hmmm. It's very different here. Everything's so... clean. Just like the kitchen area!" marveled SliceMan, as his steps echoed through the corridors of the network. Located on the other end of the globe on the small nation of Electopia, the Dentech University network was a relatively popular area of interest in the global network. He wondered why Norton had suggested the area, though, it certainly didn't seem like a place one would go to search for cooking ingredients. The mostly featureless corridor would have bored him rather shortly, if it wasn't for the small side corridor he found after a short while. His eyes widened slightly as he curiously peeked in through the entrance.

The sight of viruses peaked his interest quite successfully, with a couple of Shrubby viruses and a Mushroom virus being the more important points. Greenery! Fresh greens were always an important part of any balanced diet, and here were some gathered neatly in one place. Though the mushroom was a little big, and he didn't have a FireSword like he would've liked, in order to He had no mouth with which to show any beaming smile, but his happy-looking eyes were enough He drew back slightly, so as to not rouse the viruses too quickly, and focused on the voice link with his operator.

"Norton, I'd like the FireHit, please?" he piped up.

"Ugh... hold on, I'm just-- getting into this shirt-- right, there we go. You wanted the Fire one, right?" said Norton, tapping on the red icon amongst the five listed on the holoscreen that hovered over his arm.

The battlechip transferred almost instantly, and SliceMan's shaker arms rotated once, making a clicking sound akin to a revolver's cylinder. His brown gloved hands lit up with fire, and he crouched slightly, arms at his sides, before he leapt over the entrance line into the room with a slight spin. Mid-spin, his knife launchers happened to aim towards one of the Shrubby viruses, shooting a trio of knives at the shrub virus, as well as one extra-large cleaver, with a distinctive pneumatic punch.

Meanwhile, on the more conscious side of things, SliceMan launched his fist in front of him into... well, nothing, really, except that the fire that had been enveloping his fist flew forward at the Mushroom virus. To be sure of a kill, he followed it up with a second punch, already wound up from his first attack, launching yet another fireball at the Mushroom. He then landed neatly on his feet, fiery spirit lighting up his eyes.

Eager to get to grips with his newest ingredients, SliceMan leap over the line of magnet panels to engage just as the two shrubbies popped out directly in front of him to launch their logs. they seemed to tussle for prime log-spitting position, briefly, and the first log tumbled off to the side ineffectively. the second one only missed by virtue of passing under SliceMan as he crossed the line, and he countered with a debilitating slice, even while his auto-knives peppered the other shrubby with smaller blades.

They weren't his main focus though, and he launched his main attach at the mushroom at the back of the room. His first fireball scorched through, but the Mushy it was aimed at disappeared just before it hit, reappearing in front of SliceMan to expel a cloud of noxious spores. Fortunately the chef navi was spared the worry of dangerous spore clouds, and was free to deliver his second fire ball at terminal force and point blank range. The mushy never managed its return trip, and instead the scent of frying mushroom began to fill the room. Such delicious breakfast smells.

Towards the back of the room, the NeoMet watched this happen, and took a pot-shot at SliceMan, but the bullet went wide by a suitably laughable margin. Oh well. The two shrubbies scuttled quickly back behind their wood block covers after the debacle that was their attempted attack.

As the smell of flame-grilled Mushrooms wafted through the air, SliceMan became even more frantic, spurred on by the prospect of the hunt. He remembered how well the earlier hunt in the Comp had went, and his thoughts went to the new data he had gleaned from the earlier snakes.

"Norton, um... could you send me that new chip I just got? I-I want to see how it works."

"Huh? What? New chip?" quipped Norton as he glanced towards the screen in his wardrobe, trying to find his favorite socks. The image of a diving SnakeArm was displayed on the screen, and Norton idly tapped on it without much thought, along with a Shotgun chip, mostly so he wouldn't be bothered as much. Oh well, he knew what was coming when he got the Navi, and the enthusiasm was appreciated. "Yeah, there you go, I think that's it."

"Thank you!" said SliceMan, as the two chips arrived in his processing queue successfully, allowing him to focus on the battle more easily. Surveying his situation, the glass floor was feeling a bit too slippery for him, so he looked around, watching for an attack to avoid, and then rolled off to the side, headed for a strip of grass that seemed a bit more stable for a foothold. His knife launchers ejected another round of sharp implements again, this time more deliberately aimed towards one of the bush viruses, though he couldn't quite control the larger knife yet. Perhaps he would be able to later.

The first chip in his queue was activated automatically, and the ground trembled slightly as it did. Without further warning, a SnakeArm burst out of the ground from the back of the room, plowing through much of whatever stood in its way. "W-Whoa!" exclaimed SliceMan, as it ended its powerful attack just barely short of his position, burrowing back into the ground and disappearing as quickly as it came. That was unexpected, he thought, but his former ingredient was definitely quite a bit more useful than he thought. Shaking off the shock, he then loaded the second chip into a buster arm, quietly thanking Norton for the extra ammunition. While the attacks would have been most likely sufficient to take out all the viruses, he still readied up the extra bit of attack power to take out any stragglers he saw.

With the thoughts of fresh cooking spurring him on, SliceMan moved quickly to clean up the rest of the hostiles, so that he could more swiftly get to the important part. The first shrubby popped out form its hiding place to launch another log at him, but SliceMan was already moving into a more tactical position, and it missed by a mile. The NeoMet at the back also took a long range shot at him, but SliceMan was too quick for it, dodging nimbly. He couldn't make good on his hopes to counter it, but that didn't matter; the chef had something more potent up his non-existent sleeves.
his surprise snake attack skewered thought the NeoMet, the shrubby, and also its wooden hiding place before going to ground again, very neatly removing them from the equation.

While this was going on, his auto-knives tracked the other shrubby. The first shot missed as it popped out to launch a log of its own, while the next two stuck the incoming log with dull thuds. they might not have connected with the Shrubby, but they had, at least saved him the embarrassment of getting smacked in the face with a tree trunk — the two knives were sufficient to destroy the log before it reached him. The last remaining virus darted back behind its wood block cover to hide from SliceMan, but that wasn't going to save it from his final attack, which shredded both the block, and the virus behind it with equal impunity.

This left SliceMan the victor of the hostilities, while the scent of cooked mushroom filled the air. That aside, there was also the question of the glowing data crystal, his second discovering in quite a short while. Though knowing SliceMan, he was probably more interested in the mushrooms.

Open GMD?

"Well, that went well!" said SliceMan, relieved that he wouldn't be pummeled in the face with a log. Walking over to the thoroughly cooked Mushroom, he inspected its remains, only to be disappointed by the fact that his fiery fists had charred the fungus a little too well. "A bit too crispy," he muttered, as he fiddled with the cooked fungal flesh. SliceMan looked around. The greenery would be useful, but he had wanted to base things on the mushroom. Irritated, he stomped on the ground for a bit before spotting the revolving green crystal in the corner. "Hm, maybe I can find something in that," he said to himself, as he walked over to it and touched it, in order to decrypt its contents.

Pppwwwaaahhh! the GMD opened with the sound of a great horn. Inside was a chip.

Watching the data crystal unroll into a weird rolled-up shell, SliceMan scratched his head for a moment. "What... Well, I don't think I can use this," he muttered, before allowing the Battlechip data to be beamed up to the PET, along with the roasted mushroom. Looking around the room, he found no more things of interest, and exited the room to walk further down the original corridor that he was on, searching for more viral encampments to crash and obtain his ingredients.

[Z > 4460, F > 6]
[Battle 2 - Ready!]
[SliceMan.EXE: 100 HP.]
SliceMan's quest for workable ingredients continued thought the mostly sanitised Dentech halls, until he started to hear the sounds of impacts and explosions. The hall he was in branched a couple of times, but the promising sounds seemed mostly to be coming from a pair of large double doors that claimed they lead to fitness centre. If he approached the doors, two glass windows in them would let the chef navi peek into the room without being seen.

What he would see, in this instance, was what appeared to be some kind of service desk to the right of the doors, and a long lap pool to the right. It looked like a swarm of fish were coursing back and forth in the pool water, and there was a very tasty-looking (and very large) apple sitting on the desk, too. A little further in, another virus seemed to be examining an over-sized boomerang carefully, looking for flaws or damage. For the time being, SliceMan had the element of surprise; nothing in the room looked particularly alert right at the moment, if he were to burst in knives blazing.

Boomers cannot be damaged from any direction in the forward hemisphere so long as they carry their boomerang. Any attacks from the rear hemisphere or Break attacks hit normally. Boomers launch their boomerang when they attack, leaving themselves open to counter attacks. Boomers move by floating through the air, and are immune to the effects of Anchor. They are, however, still subject to the effects of terrain. They cannot be forced to submerge into liquid terrain, nor can they be buried in solid terrain. Boomers are horrible at dodging, as they generally rely on their Rang-Guard ability.

"...? What's that noise?" SliceMan muttered to himself, hearing some explosions while he was walking through the pristine Dentech Network hallways. The area seemed rather deserted, perhaps because of the timezone difference between Netopia and Netfrica. Eventually, he found himself in front of a set of double doors, at the source of the noise. Judging from the service desk and lap pool, it seemed like he had wandered into the sports facility at some point, a far cry from the gardening area he was just in. Perhaps they just didn't really bother very much with specific area partitioning. Still, all of those details didn't really bother him all too much. His eyes were much too busy shining brightly at the prospect of having a feast of fish and apple spread out for the pickings. Various preparatory methods went through his head, though one stuck out in particular as effective enough.

"Um, Norton? Could I have the chip that I just received earlier?" he said, which was answered with a muffled grunt, punctuated by a few crunching sounds. Seemed like his operator was having breakfast. Nevertheless, the chip found itself into his processing queue quickly enough, preparing him for his assault. Taking a few deep breaths, he burst through the door, and immediately rolled to the side to avoid any reactionary attacks. His knife launchers whirred to life briefly, before ejecting their usual salvo of sharp and deadly missiles. One of them sank into the water, and the pool began to boil violently into a deep red, just in time for him to land into it. As SliceMan made his splash, however, he wasn't quite done just yet. Aligning the two remaining viruses that weren't in the pool, he activated the chip that he had requested.

Out of nowhere, the Armadill that he had faced from before materialized before him, and tore up the dry area's flooring as it turned into a tight ball. "W-Wah!" yelped SliceMan in surprise, as it charged forward towards the two viruses, aiming to flatten them in its wake.

Smashing through the doors and getting things heated up, quite literally, against the viruses, Sliceman runs and dodges his way into the pool, immediately turning it into lava, the Piranhas letting out what could only be loud squeaks of pain and suffering as they flailed around atop of the scorching hot panels of rolling lava. They glared -darkly- at the cutlery navi as his knives had fired out cut into the three Piranha viruses as they were distracted by how much heat their fins were getting. Two of the Piranhas immediately moved their way off the panels, the third, the one right next to Sliceman fired on him almost immediately, with the other two following suit right after and hitting him four times, turning the cutlery navi into more pincushion than knife, though he immediately slashed the nearby Piranha something fierce, putting it on death's door without a second thought.

The other two viruses simply hung out and watched as the navi made his work known, the AppleSamu immediately hiding away into it's apple-shaped body, trying to avoid destruction, missing the summoned Armadil as he aimed it towards it and the Boomer, sending it going right down the middle as the clothes-pin shaped virus about opened it's mouth to send a boomerang down the middle at it's opponent...and watching it's boomerang explode into bits as the Applesamu and it's self were splattered across the normal panels, making a lovely applesauce. Too bad about all the metal bits in it.

"Urk!" grunted SliceMan, as the Piranha viruses opened fire on him, their needles painfully sticking out of his flank, though they didn't stick around for too long before dissipating into junk data. Instinctively, the chef Navi moved away from the "hot bath" that he had just drawn, expelling a few more stray knives towards the nearby Piranha automatically from his launchers. Surveying the area, he found that the earlier Armadill's attack had been a little bit too successful, splattering applesauce and metal shrapnel absolutely everywhere. He clicked in annoyance as the last of the opposition bore down on him from across the pool of boiling rock. From what he could see, they hadn't quite yet been touched by the flames, so he could be a little bit more cautious in preparing them. However, he was also getting rather tired; he hadn't gone ingredient hunting like this for a very long time and it was wearing him out quickly.

"Some fire, please, Norton? A-And I think this'll be my last group of viruses," he said.

"Oh? That's good, I was about to get ready to leave. Try to make it quick, all right?" his operator replied.

The sound of clothes shuffling about verified Norton's claim as the FireHit chip resolved into SliceMan's processes. "O-Okay!" said SliceMan, as his hands receded into his salt-shaker arms, and two metallic nozzles emerged in their place. Lowering his stance, a small red light glowed from within the nozzles as SliceMan pointed his arms forward. He shot two fireballs from the nozzles, transforming into fists as they traveled through the air towards the remaining two Piranha viruses. The nozzles then rotated back in, restoring his fists back to his arms as he waited for the sound of the fireballs connecting with his targets.

Summoning up another three knives, one going wide of the virus, the virus immediately opening it's mouth for another attack at the virus, only to get a mouth full of metal knives, pieces of the Piranha hitting the lava and quickly catching on fire, becoming inedible and black as charcoal. Then came the flying fists of fire, smashing right into the two Piranhas and making them a lovely shade of char broiled brown, a lovely smell hitting the chef's nose of the Piranha filet. Though if the chef looked closely enough, one of the spears from the viruses was sticking out of the meat, perhaps he could make a chip out of it?

"Ah--" started SliceMan, as he watched the charred pieces of one of the Piranha float about in the enormous volcanic grill that he had just made. Food wastage was a shame, but it couldn't be avoided in the "wildlands" like this. While the other two Piranha viruses were charred to a nice brown, he couldn't help but think of the wasted third one, as well as the massive amount of contaminated applesauce that was getting everywhere. "Uuuuh, it's kind of sticky..." he murmured to himself as he traversed the room to retrieve the cooked fish. Upon closer inspection, one of the Piranha's spears was sticking out of one of them, and he extracted it gingerly from its place. Examining it for a little bit, he decided that it wasn't really worth turning into a kitchen tool, instead deciding to simply transfer it up with the rest of the chips. A bit of melancholy washed over him as he looked about at the mess that he had left the room in. He wondered if he had enough time to perhaps neaten up the room a bit and restore it to its former appearance.

Unfortunately, it wasn't quite that easy. "SliceMan, are you done yet? I'm leaving now," he heard his operator say.

"A-Ah... Um, yes, I'm done here, Norton, let's go," he said, before disappearing in a beam of light.
