Resolutions 7: Jazz and Dare

Welcome! Thank you for participating in the Donation Drive by offering your resolutions. I hope you two will encourage each other to be your best in times to come!

((Post here only if your navi's name is in the title. To be eligible for FXP once the event's over, you will need to post at least twice: once to set up your navi's resolution and an example this year that shows they need to make this resolution, and then a second with your navi's encouragement to their BBS partner. The threads will remain open until around January 15th. You're free to back and forth as much as you'd like until that time! Note also that this is a BBS thread, so your navis are not going to be physically meeting. You may have them connect with video or such if you want, but they're not actually meeting in person.

For any questions, ask Aim. And have fun!))
Hey, Jazz! I'm the fastest Navi on the Net, so I'm afraid you're going to have to be happy following up. I want you to tell me why you're named Jazz, though! Like the type of music, right? I haven't listened to a lot of music myself, but I've got a lot of respect for artists.

Anyway, I don't like to keep people waiting, so I'll cut to the resolutions. My resolution this year is to try and be more considerate! A Navi like me is always focused on looking ahead at the finish line, and I since I apply that to every aspect of my life, I leave my concerns for others in the dust. Well, that makes it sound like I want it to seem cool. I trample the concerns of others? That's a little melodramatic... Well, you get it.

As for examples, where to start? There's my operator. A bit of a slow guy, but he's spunky and lovable. A while back, I revealed what kind of porn he likes and how he downloads it to his girlfriend, so I need to be more considerate of him. Oh, and there's my rival, Ante! She's so much like me, it's scary. I think I might be pulling her into some stuff she's not comfortable with, cause basically the only difference between me and her is she's kinda more classy. She seems a little uncomfortable showing off her goods, even though we end up doing it a lot. So, I'm resolving to make sure I only make her when it's absolutely necessary! Although... that's basically every mission we do. And then there was this one guy where I, uh... I might have accidentally proved the girl he was hitting on was a lesbian in an, um, pretty explicit way, in front of him, while we were all drunk... so, point being, the shortest path to victory tends to leave a lot of flaming wreckage. A real winner can get there without burning all her bridges at the same time, don't you think?

Enough about me, though! Tell me what's on your mind.

Yea, so, the name's Jazz.exe, and- Wait...how the fuck did you post so fast?! Okay. OKAY. I can handle going second. Anyways. Name's Jazz.exe, and yes, my original netop based my name off the type of music. Even if I'm a rabbit-navi. Either way. I was a Rogue navi for the last several years until this gal named Stephine took me in. Anyways. Yea...sometimes desecration is the better and all. Sometimes, just...pace yourself kiddo. Also. Seriously, burning all your bridges is -really- bad. I had the mafia hunting for my head for a few years because I pissed off a couple of their informants, burning about ten bridges along the way. I THINK I repaired them, not sure.

Anyways. My resolution for this year? I wanna get back back into their good graces. The mafia that is. I've never been a fan of the "Holier than thou" Netpolice. They act like they are the only answer to dealing with crime and corruption in the net. I've seen the Mafia even do some -good- for the networks they have control of. Kinda like a Net Yakuza. With less torture and morals. In the meanwhile, I've been trying to see if they have any odd-jobs for a navi like me. But from what I've gotten back from them (under channels that If I discuss here I'll be skinned alive), I HAVE to be one of their number to get that privilege. But anyways, I know how to go about the official channels and all that, so...I've been kinda waiting on doing that myself. Get used to fighting again and all that and having a netop again
Yeah, I know pacing yourself is the right way to go in the long run. It's just so hard not to live dangerously, you know? Cheap thrills and all. Anyway, it's good advice. I'll try to stick to it.

As for the NetMafia, I've so far managed to stay out of the way of either the Police or the Mafia. I don't have much opinion on either one either way, but I will say that groups aren't homogeneous. The winning team has losers, and the losing team has winners. You do what works for you, Rabbit Guy!

Sounds like you've got a plan and you're already working on it. All I can say there is don't tire out! If you ever feel like you're running out of steam, look back at this thread, and know there were two people cheering on your plan right here: me, and the you from this moment.

And I'm glad you already have a plan, cause, honestly, I have basically no specific advice for you here at all. Good luck! Hop to it!

... Man, though. Burning bridges sounds really cool. I'm imagining burning a trail across a bunch of bridges at record speed, then watching them burn to ash, falling into the chasm below and blowing into the wind... with me the victor on the other side! Picture yourself, isn't that a cool image?!

Dang it! Guess I've got to focus, huh?
Eh, personally I'm not a huge fan of the "cheap thrills" thing when your life is on the line. I've been subject to those "Jack-out Barriers" in the past. Makes things a -tad- difficult when you have some goons on your tail. But I do see where you're coming from.

Also, yea, I suppose every team gotta have it's winners and losers. I'm just hoping I'm picking the winning side here. God knows I can't handle the Net Police if it came down to it...but, with this broad's chip stash from her last navi, I can certainly make for a good fighter when it comes right down to it. Though the Net Police around the time of Darkkas...well, lets just say more than a few friendly Rogue Navis were deleted and I'll not go into more detail than that.

Though truth be told, I think you could use someone to help...reign you in, so to speak. How about it kiddo? When you're free, we could go busting together and see about helping with that impulsiveness of yours. Though I think Navi Doctors can prescribe you something for, what I can only imagine you having the navi equivalent of ADHD. Seriously, you sound like the kinda navi who would get distracted by some pretty lights in the distance, gotta learn some control. Or medication, I won't judge.
Yeah, I hear you. No thrill's cheap when your life's the price. That said, if you can handle yourself, I highly recommend pushing yourself every chance you get. If you don't, how will you know your limits? Especially if you're not a rogue anymore and have a proper Op, you might find it liberating.

Hey, Rabbit Man, I've never had anyone offer to "reign me in" before. You hitting on me? Well, so I thought, but recommending medication would be a heck of a pickup line, and this is from a girl who has gotten some weird ones. Anyway, yeah, I'm impulsive, but that's just part of the package with my lovable personality.

As for busting, I'd think about it. If you're a tough guy like you say, could be I'd learn a thing or two. That said, I'm kinda... involved in something... right now. It's hush hush, and very, very deadly! So if you're gonna keep your secrets, I'll keep this one. Don't worry, nothing to do with the NetMafia or NetPolice. I only bring it up to let you know my hands are tied at the moment.

To be honest, though, I don't have much experience busting. I mean, I've built up a little strength and know some cool moves. And I've seen viruses before, but they were baby Metools, and they weren't exactly menacing me... No, wait! I killed some viruses when I was collecting ingredients for a contest. So I have a little experience, at least. Got any tips for an aspiring NetBattler? I like to find my own way and do my own thing, but I don't object to good advice, either.
Hmmm. Well, I heard you -do- lose things, zenny, chips and all that if you wind up with an Emergency Jack-out, my new netop is a bit...materialistic, I'll say this much.

Who the HELL are you calling materialistic rabbit!? Do I need to toss you to the Netpolice? Pretty sure some of their officers would have a field day castrating you.

And that would be my netop, say hi to the nice thrill seeking navi, Stephine. Anyways, I suppose a few cheap thrills once in a while won't be the -worst- thing in the world. Also. Lets leave it up to interpretation, I'm sure you got a dirty mind and all that, gods know that "pure" navis are a dying breed and all that.

I...I'm not even going to make a comment here. I'm just gonna let you continue to corrupt this poor girl.

ANYWAYS. A few tips for virus busting, right? Go to places you are at least neutral with or can exploit enemy weaknesses with, like with me, I'm a wood elemental. So places like, say, Hades are a bad place for me to be at, due to the concentration of viruses that are fire elemental. BUT. Electown and NAXA would be good places to bust at for the concentrations of Electrical viruses that exist there. Also, elemental coverage. Your bread and butter will likely to be chips that can either A. hit multiple targets, B. Are the same element as you so you give them a boost, or C. all of the above. For me, Boomerangs will get a hefty power boost, as well as cut through multiple viruses. But you want chips or signature attacks (as costly as they might be), to have elemental coverage of all four primary elements. There's also the terrain you fight on. Normal panels are all well and good, but you won't always have them around. I can -make- Soil with a signature myself, it's not a complete stage change, but it's enough and Soil boosts wood chips to double their effectiveness, allowing for me to one-shot most viruses. There's plenty more, I think there was a Netbattle tips board out there? Not sure if anyone's using it anymore, but it might have more on there for ya.
Stephine sounds like a social butterfly. I'd introduce you to Bruce, but he told me he wasn't really interested in this sort of thing. He's not anti-social, but he tends to keep his words on the Net short and sweet. As for my purity, I think of myself as just dirty enough to know what people want. Exploiting it's another way to win, and one I've had a lot of success with.

Thanks for the tips. Even with my limited busting knowledge, I know Bruce has some shopping to do before I have a full and diverse folder. I don't keep track of everything he does, but I do like looking over the toys in my folder, and... while they all look cool and most pack heat, I don't think Bruce puts any strategy into collecting them. Heck, I'm half-convinced that he just puts in whatever he gets from participation giveaways.

... Maybe he does? I mean, I'm pretty sure nearly every zenny he's made on the Net went into process upgrades. I should probably work on fleshing out the chip situation soon...

Oh yeah, I'm a fire Navi. I didn't say it earlier since I kind of wear that on my sleeve. Honestly, I tend to guess a Navi's Wood when they write green on a BBS.

Man, though, being able to just change the Net around you to make yourself comfortable is a skill that would have come in very handy recently. I mean, a power-up is nice and all, I just hate the cold.
Well, I can only make Soil so far, myself. Grants a "double damage" bonus to my wood chips, which then creates Grass when a Wood attack hits an enemy. Which can then be burnt down with Fire for another "double damage" bonus on top of that. Plus...I feel so at home on the Soil, I can move faster than other elemental navis. And yea, I'm a wood navi. Wood/Break, to be exact. These legs of mine aren't just there to hop around, they pack quite the punch, if I hit ya.

Also, fire eh? Gonna have to be careful around ya then, Wood burns real well after all. I'd be happy to help ya discover the wonders of battle. Course, I'd not mind a simple meet and greet face to face. Hear Coal panels do well with fire types. Strengthens Fire attacks, and even provides some coverage for ya with the steam and all that, with no downsides to ya.
