Hell and Hell again

Returning to the network in a heavy beam of light, Kemix...looking around to see he wasn't back in Kotobuki...no...no...he was in hell...literally and figuratively. A heavy sigh, he would begin to traverse the...horrible hellscape that waited for him.

(Battle 1, 120 HP, FirePhoenix bounty)
A return to the net, and this time it was an even hotter one than before. Kemix could feel the sweltering dry heat hit him like a physical wave as he arrived. His feet sank a few inches into baking sand, making it harder to move, and a glance around showed flat desert for miles around. Just at the edges of his vision, heat mirages suggested that there might be black rocky mountains at the edge of the sand, but even they were a long, long way off. The sun, glaring and burning in the empty sky above, felt closer than those mountains and their possible promise of shade.

Even so, Kemix had to move on, and he did so, trudging through the sand. Shapes took form through the head haze as he walked, but after a moment it seemed clear that they were just rocks in the barren wasteland. As he drew closer, however, movement caught his attention. The rock in the centre lurched and shifted, lifting up arms that gave it the form of a Cragger virus. Now that it was moving, its rocky body was easier to pick out from the rocks surrounding it... though one of the inanimate lumps of stone seemed to be shaped quite artfully in the image of a large prog. Odd. At the movement from the Cragger, two furrows lifted up in the sand and began to circle the space between the rocks rapidly, almost giving the impressions of hungry sharks as whatever they were swam through the sand at a worrying speed. The ruckus startled something else and a moment after, Kemix caught sight of a ruffled phoenix taking wing from on of the prog rock's 'ears', and flapping skyward with an angry shriek.

SnakeArmSnakeArm (SnakeArm)

SnakeArm viruses are among the fastest moving viruses in MMBN, and thus have 2 free Movements each turn. They move by burrowing underground at high speed, and only occasionally pop out of the ground to get their bearings. They just about treat the ground as if it were water, and are normally only hittable by most forms of attack when they are above ground. They are able to move through any kind of terrain with the exception of Cracked, Broken, Missing, Glass, and Metal. They are not subject to the adverse effects of the terrain they are moving through, with the sole exception of Poison. As is normal, Snakearms are subject to damage by Ground attacks, terrain changes, etc while they are burrowed. SnakeArm can attack airborne targets, and their attack can pass over the terrain types they normally cannot burrow or swim through.

Area: NetVegas, Hades Isle

HP: 130
Attack Damage/Effect: 20 + Piercing(3) + Backstab
Attack Accuracy: B
Attack Description: Attacks by jumping out of the ground behind a target, slamming into them, and then burrowing back into the ground again a few panels ahead. They can attack up to 3 targets in a line in this manner.
Element: None
Possible Rewards (Per Virus): SandWorm1, Zenny
Special: This virus moves by Burrowing and Tunneling.
Special: Backstab: This attack is executed from behind the target, thus rendering Dodges half as effective against this attack only. The trade-off is that this attack can't execute if the space behind the target is not empty at the time of the attack.

CraggerCragger (Cragger)

Craggers are pretty easy targets, given their size. They also move very rarely, and when they do they move slowly. Their dodge rate is abysmal. They generally rely on their HardBody defense, which reduces non-break damage by half, but doubles break damage. They have high attack power and AoE, but their accuracy is generally bad as their attacks are easy to follow and take time to deliver. Their attack is executed as a Drop Attack, and thus attacks from above, and not head-on. Targets caught underground within this attack's AoE range take an additional 50 Null damage that ignores all defenses.

FirePhoenixes are medium sized birds, constantly emitting fire from their body. Despite being able to fly, they lack some of the grace other flying viruses, and have only average dodging capability. Higher versions are truer to their name, and are capable of reviving themselves. However, a Wind-type attack will blow away their ashes before they can regenerate, and if they're deleted with an Aqua attack, the ashes don't form.

-=Battle 1, Start!=-
His metal clad feet echoed throughout the hellish network he had been transported into, sand beginning to deafen his steps, sinking deeper and deeper within the sand as his movement was hampered...before he knew it...he was surrounded by a pair of sandworm-like creatures, the bodies matching the color of the sand beneath his feet with additional details...and flowers for eyes. A mammoth rock-like creature falling down in front of him, the creature looking sturdy as he was also beset by the feathered flaming birds he had been hunting. Nothing like a hellish world around him, on top of equally dangerous (if not more so) creatures that lived in such hellscapes.

It's shit like this that make me wish I had my hammer... Kemix breathed, he was being circled by the sandworm-like creatures, stepping back as he did. He wasn't even sure if he could fight through all of this. The creatures circled him faster than he could properly react to. They would encircle the lumps of stone, finally quieting down as he did his best to survey the situation. They were all at triple digit HP values unfortunately so it wasn't an easy fight to simply breeze through like he did in Kotobuki earlier. He was beginning to think, sand slowly coallessing into his boots as he grumbled under his breath, he couldn't move properly, sand causing him to slowly sink within it's confines...a thought crossing his head, Kemix would take a chance...that extra program thought bought off that girl...maybe...

Closing his eyes and letting out a long exhale, Kemix would stomp the ground beneath him, a quake rippling out from beneath his feet as he tapped into that power, the quake rippling out as sand slowly disappeared into the ground beneath his feet. Soon after, verdant terf began to grow all around the navi in its stead, even while flamable, he wouldn't be hampered by the grass beneath his feet. Alright...now that the sand is not an issue...Ava!Lets see...ah! Get rid of the Cragger and FirePhoenix. Those worms attack from behind, but if you leverage those rocks with your back right to them, they can't attack you if there's something there or nothing to burrow out of. Use these to eliminate the two quickly. Ava would speak, PET being tapped at furiously as she brought up individual virus profiles for the three types that showed up as she sent three chips to her navi, enough to properly take care of what he needed to. Meanwhile, she was looking up a few other things on her PET, including potential upgrades for her navi to make use of.

Grunting as he received his chips, Kemix was quick to begin his assault on the viruses that had stopped him...he would begin with the one right in front of him, of course. The giant armored navi would rush his target with little more than his fist outstretched, arm swinging back behind the navi as he trampled grass and dirt beneath his heel as he swung the gauntleted hand forwards, a quintet of spikes jutting out from his knuckles as he attempted to connect deep into the Cragger's body, his shoulder beginning to jut outwards behind him as he did. The blow would do more than just pierce deep inside the cragger's rocky exterior, because if he had managed to connect, a pneumatic hiss would exhale all around his arm, the growth on his shoulder letting out a metallic creek as he would immediately follow up the crushing punch...powered by hydraulics and steam, the growth upon his shoulder immediately forcing itself through his arm and send his fist flying with a follow up crushing explosion of energy sending his fist outwards and likely crushing the Cragger to a simple rubble.

Turning himself right around to find the FirePhoenix almost immediately after his crushing dual blows against the Cragger, Kemix loaded up the second of his chips, eyes trying to keep on the Phoenix's movements as he began to ready his chip. Hands held outwards as a staff made out of pure blue energy began to slowly materialize as he took hold of one end of the smoothbore weapon, clenching it tightly in his fingers, the navi would bring back his hand and throw the energy based weapon towards the virus, swinging it like a bat as it left his hand, the staff would begin to spin about the air as condensation formed around it, high pressurized water exploding out of the energy construct before finally flying out towards the bird of fire to wash it away in cool rushing water.

His attacks through, Kemix turned his tail back around towards the rock that Ava had pointed out, it was fairly soft looking as far as rocks went, he couldn't help but think Ava's council on this was a little on the iffy side, but he would put his trust in her for the moment. His feet trampling further grass and dirt down as he displaced a few blades of grass here and there on his way towards the rock, swiveling his body around as he did to keep his back firmly against it to keep the sandworm viruses from getting an opening against him. All the while, he activated the final chip sent to him, hand outstretched, a massive iron wrought tower shield would form about his hands, handle perfectly molded around his digits like a pair of brass knuckles, the actual shield part that formed in front of him slamming heavily against the ground, a small burst of wind erupting around the point of impact immediately afterwards.

Panting out heavily as he siddled back, his armor touching against the rock behind him, Kemix would be quick to use his free hand to grab the gourd against his waist, the navi heafting the massive jug of water up to his mouth as a sturdy energy barrier began to form around his body to further shield himself from the heat and horrors of the network around him. All the while, he would tip his head back and begin to take a deep, long drink out of his jug of water, cool water rushing through his throat as he drank heavily of the water within, body swelling with aquatic energy as he drew upon it's powers.

The sand did not agree with Kemix, and Kemix did not agree with the sand. While the Cragger roused itself and the snake viruses coursed through the ground towards him, the sudden shift in the terrain sent a ripple out from his position and both of the tunnelling viruses with harshly ejected from their burrows to land with very little grace in a pair of coiling and writhing heaps on the newly formed grass. They quickly righted themselves and ducked back into the ground, but aside from getting his footing, they had both clearly been hurt by the sudden shift.

In the centre of the area, Kemix rushed forward to take on the largest virus. His first hydraulic-boosted punch didn't manage to connect with the rock, and he wasn't able to capitalise on the repeat hammering effect, but enough time remained for him to make a corrective punch that did land cleanly. Even at a less than optimal output, the blow sent cracks through virus and caused chunks of it to break free and crumble.

While he was distracted, the snakes launched themselves from the ground, one after the other; the first managed to strike the navi in the back, though the second missed entirely The striking force of the first, however, was piercing enough to crash through the damaged Cragger as well, before disappearing back into the ground; a narrow hole was left in the virus where the snake had hit it.

The phoenix above shrieked, but, ignoring the snakes still, Kemix was quicker at sending his own aqua counter up towards the bird before it could cook him alive; the watery shot connected and extinguished the phoenix with a quenched hiss.

As he backed off to take a more defensible position against one of the rocks, the badly damaged Cragger followed, shifting up against him and attempting to slam its heavy fists down in the main source of its ire. While Kemix himself managed to avoid the blow, the rock behind him wasn't quite as evasive and was immediately pulverised.

Shield protecting his front angle, Kemix was well aware that his back was once again exposed. The snakes launched up for further attacks, but the navi just managed to bring up his second line of defence, in the form of a barrier that weathered the attacks. Well, the second one at least. The first snake misjudged its aim and failed to hit him. The second shot past Kemix, deflecting only slightly off his barrier, and punching a second round hole in the Cragger that was still in front of him as well. The rocky virus was looking severely agitated by the repeated friendly fire, though it looked as though it had very little stamina left regardless.

While the navi took a refreshing drink to combat the heat, the Cragger tried, and failed, to swing at him again. More chunks of rock fell off it as it stumbled.
