Netbattles and Chill

Ther metallic kunoichi narrowed her eyes at the man in front of her, she could see his clone moving into position finally, her head turning about as he began to protect himself further, a shield of some sort...she was beginning to wish she had something like that at the moment, her lowered form soon assaulted by a hail of watery slivers crashing down upon her position, causing her to make a move to evade, instead of leaping towards her attacker in a fashion akin to a bear mauling it's prey...unfortunately for Kunika, she took a hit of the slivers, one tearing across her side (40) as she had managed to evade the others just barely, a slight drip of redish oil beginning to stain her garb as she let out a hiss, displacing more and more of the weaponry scattered about.

"Not bad...not everyone...gets a clean hit like that upon me." She spoke plainly, her body undulating about as she watched him, and his clones, carefully. She could tell he prepared...SOMETHING...but could not figure out what it could be, squinting as he had refreshed his barrier, she began to reach into her kunoichi outfit...looking for something with her massive clawed hands. But before she could pull it out, Courseman launched another attack, in tandem with his clones he set out to strike against the kunoichi, his claws striking true against her body without erring (40) from his attack. "Do not mock me..." She hissed, her garb torn even further as she finally pulled out what she was looking for... "I did not take this scar by choice, little mouse." She hissed again as she threw down a ball of energy, a thick smoke immediately rising up to not only obscure...but completely hide the Kunoichi from view. Even as Courseman sent another attack her way, she was unable to evade the strike against her despite her obscured form, the heavy wave of icy water striking true against the kunoichi and freezing not only her, but her systems down to the bone and then some! (115+Freeze1) It was a good thing she was obscured from view...otherwise Courseman and his clones might make some rather...perverted remarks? Kunoichi garbs were not exactly known for their thick padding, after all, Kunika's teeth audibly chattering around her prey as she tried to find somewhere to hide...dry off and warm up. "D-D-Do not think...I will b-bow down...t-to you!" She yelled, her voice projecting around the area.

Despite the warrior's readiness, Courser could tell that his distracting way of fighting were keeping her at least somewhat off balance; warning shots aside, she hadn't struck back yet, but he was prepared for it to be dangerous when it came. Across from where he stood, courser sent a booster pulse to his decoy to prevent it fading away; he couldn't see where Kunika had vanished to, but he could still hear that shew as present. He lowered the hand he'd been gesturing with, and the wave whip reformed, curling out and down to the ground as he turned in a small circle. Opposite him, his decoy paced in counterpoint, watching the sections of the field he couldn't.

“Of course not! I'm never one to ask a lady to get on her knees, you know... I rather prefer it the other way, truth be told...” He wandered closer to the centre of the battlefield, spreading his arms wide with a shrug while his decoy backed off towards one of the further edges. It called out with a short laugh.

“Aye, but speaking of things below the belt... that one was a pretty cheap shot from me. Sorry about that one, sweet-cheeks. Won't happen again.” As the courser at the edge of the field took a small, apologetic bow small green and silver patterning began to filter subtly across his coat, picking out neat little stars in a muted design. When he stood straight from the bow, and green-toned headband had slipped across his forehead, holding his hair back properly, also worked with star designs. “It's just polite after all...” he concluded with a shrug and looked off to the side.

Back towards the centre, the other Courser's coat had also shifted, though this time with a filtering of red, eight-pointed stars. The matching head band also appeared, and he elt the water currents and whips fall away from himself, though the shield remained. He laughed aloud and let himself fall backwards into a lazy yet graceful handstand, before coming o his feet again with a pair of old weapons from the ground. A coy smile curled at his lips as he looked around, seeking some sign of his opponent.

“Aw, come on now, don't by shy... We didn't mean to hurt you really. We were just playing, miss... Come out, come out...” with deft flicks he spun and swept each weapon around himself once, then released them in opposite directions, hoping to catch some sign of his invisible foe. “Was it because we made you chilly? I can help get your fires burning again, sweety...” He grinned and licked his lips, his body swaying from side to side in an increasingly playful manner.

“How about we play a game... you get to choose!” He completed a pair of quick backflips into the very centre of the area, then, where his hands landed at the top of the second turn, a large, reinforced block of a bomb rose out of the ground, lifting the navi up. A large digital icon on each side displayed a bright red '3' on it. Courser flipped back onto is feet standing on top of the bomb now.

“You can play with me, or you can play with him, or you can play with this!! It'll be a blast, don't you think?” Here he laughed again, while the twig-dressed courser at the edge of the area huffed and rolled his eyes, arms folded across his chest now.

“Try hard...” It muttered, tapping a foot impatiently. The central Courser didn't seem to care. Instead, he turned in a circle, surveying the field. He reached in as though to hug himself for a moment, hunching slightly. Where the soft mist had been swirling about his body, it was now replaced by a steamy heat haze as he looked up.

“Here... If you're still feeling chilly let me warm you up!” With a gleeful smirk, he stood upright, stretching his arms wide and clicking both fingers in an audible snap. the stars on his outfit flared and in a sudden, dense burst a veritable galaxy of pin-point burning stars scattered across the field in a wide cloud. Before they cleared, the navi crouched then sprang up, turning over in the air to thrust a hand down towards the bomb he was standing on. A bright burst of fire lanced from his hands down to the object, before splitting into a myriad of fiery lines that shot across the field in every direction. At one side of the field, the other courser stepped aside one of the fire bursts and shook his head.

“Show off!” He called, before turning his back and raising his chin somewhat, clearly doing his best to ignore the flashier CourseMan. The Time Bomb in the centre, despite being the target of Courser's own attack, counted down from three to two.

As he transformed himself with the power of a cross, Kunika was readying herself for whatever might come, she could barely move her arms as is from the sudden blast of water chilling her to her core, doing what she could to remain hidden for the time being.

Whilst searching through the weapons, however, two weapons would find his grasp even if he didn't exactly have the free hands for them at the moment. A simple piece of wood, one end tapered off to a broken and splintered part, obviously having been much longer in the past, it seemed like at the very least it would be useful in disarming an opponent if nothing else while the splintered end would at the very least cause some minor damage. The other weapon he had managed to pick out from the crowds of similar looking weapons was a simple looking Kunai...but seemed...sturdy, durable and sharper than the others around it, a yellowish coloration upon the weapon's metal...and at the end where he could hold it, draped down a tag of some sort of origin, written in a language he probably didn't understand, with some simple diagrams that showed if it was thrown...it would explode upon impact. The weapons were distinct enough if he picked them up, but if he didn't before too long they would blend in with the rest of the weapons all around him.

Kunika's movements around him continued, the clang and displacement of metal on metal as she lunged at him just shortly after he had set down the bomb...and into the explosive finale of the fight. Stars rocketing across her invisible body as she couldn't even touch him with her weapons systems, the frozen parts of her arms preventing her attacking...and then he fired the heatshot downwards, damaging her even further, she was knocked back by the blast, her undershirt barely keeping her in the network as it stood. Her body rematerializing as chip data dropped from her body as well as a small bundle of Zenny that Courseman could take.

On her knees, Kunika sighed as ice melted away, her garb a complete mess between the two extremes of temperature, cuts from earlier s she grumbled in front of the victor. "You have won this day, mouse. In accordance of navi battles, these are your rewards."

Courser landed in place atop his badly damaged explosive and stood straight, spinning about once more with a much more open and honest laugh. He was smiling as his turn brought him to face the now-revealed Kunika and he swept a hand out to the side in a graceful bow before stepping down from the bomb-turned-podium. His coat faded back to normal as he tapped the top of the bomb with one hand and let it fade away into harmless shadows.

“Well... you have my thanks... Perhaps the next time we meet you'd like to play my game instead?” He bent slightly and extended a hand, palm open, to help the other navi up, though he was doubtful she'd accept the offer. “I assure you, it's just as energetic, but no-one gets hurt.” He wink to her as he spoke, but alongside him a second Courser had slipped out of the battlefield and audible face-palmed.

“Oh give it a rest, lover-boy...”
“Can't you tell she's not interested?” A second clone, on the other side was shaking his head at the real Courser. For his part, Courser reached out and wrapped each clone in a good-natured headlock, pulling them down and in.

“And I promise I'll leave these knuckleheads at home.” He reassured the only other actual person present.
“Like you could!” One of his decoys called out, before Courser dismissed them both into curls of dark shadows that swiftly faded from sight. Regardless of her answer, or any other pleasantries or threats, he took an extra step back, the swept a second, more respectful bow towards her, one foot ahead of the other as his left hand moved wide.

“For now, though, I have exploration of my own to pursue. It was a fun game. Until next time, Kunika.” He took an extra step back, then pulled a brief, refreshing wash of fresh water across himself, before stepping into a glide and letting the building water eddy carry him away from the peculiar battlefield. Once they had moved away from the previous site of battle for a minute or two, courser spoke up as he let his eyes scan the surrounding network.

“Alright then... How about we see what we find next, Jen, and then once I've got it under control, we can do the next upgrade run?” It was a strangely relaxing thing to think just about the fight itself. It didn't feel difficult to manage is clones when it was in the heat of battle like that, without errant or unwanted thoughts stealing voice before he could stop them. On the other end of the line, he heard Jenny draining her current drink with enthusiasm.

“Right, got it. Hey, do you think her arms and legs, like, rust and stuff? That would be a real pain...” Courser found himself raising an eyebrow.
“I honestly got not idea, Jen, but probably not. She's a navigator after all – whatever we end up believing or telling ourselves, most of the features that define us are deliberately made or designed by someone else.” As he spoke the words, Courser found himself thinking about other navis he'd met and seen that had scars, or even minor disabilities. It was strange, but even for those people, it was mostly cosmetic, and rarely actually hampered their abilities. Jenny didn't sound like she was having the same thoughts.
“That's a bit creepy when you think about it, isn't it? Like... you're a navigator, and you've got this scar over one eye, and you feel like you've got this great big old enmity with someone for it... but then, like, you didn't ever really get that scar, because you were made like that, and the other navi you hate, maybe you've never actually fought them, you were just made together to be enemies... Seems kind of messed up, really.” Courser frowned, glaring into the snow. It wasn't always like that, of course, but he couldn't claim it never was, and she had a point. Still...

“Maybe, sometimes, but the up side is that we never really have to suffer those kind of hurts. People don't really make navis that actually need to eat and sleep and breath, unless the navi wants to... and we don't really hurt or bleed in anything more than a superficial way, for the most part. Short of a jack-out barrier, there's nothing anyone can really do to us that a trip back to the PET can't fix up. Bugs and glitches aside, of course, but seen those are fairly straight forward to fix or repair, and it rarely causes us any pain to do it.” He heard Jenny snort a short laugh.

“Yeah, I guess. And you don't get cramps or headaches either. I'd love to give up both of those problems. And I could get my teeth straight with a day one patch, and not have to wear braces for a year...”
“A couple of months Jen. Soon.”
“Yeah, I know...” He heard her sigh, followed by the familiar sound of her fiddling with the rainbow-coloured braces with her tongue. Courser travelled onward.

(Ready for Battle 6)
(+5 Kunika FXP)

As Courseman glid away from the field of battle, Kunika picked herself up and would make a disappearance for the time being. In the bag of zenny there was something scrawled on a note...something related to Kunika? They seemed to be coordinates if he wanted to meet with her again on his own terms (Kunika Coordinates, use on a fresh thread in Sharo to meet with Kunika again, Key Item).

As he continued along the fields of snow, ice and whatnot, Courseman would eventually find himself in a clear field, a pair of ice cubes, bigger than he was by half of his own height and more than twice his width, though the water was certainly clear enough that it was possible to see through it (albeit like a funhouse mirror). Through the ice, a large darkened Cragger virus would fall down from the skies, crashing atop the second Ice Cube not that far away from where Courseman had found himself at. Atop the cragger's head was a large, overly sized crown adorned with more than just gold and gems, it was adorned with various...navi parts?! Ew. Soon after, multiple viruses would spawn in around and behind the Cragger's "Throne" of ice, including (yet another) Basher, a funny little man-shaped-yellow-thing with a red X for a face...and a Bomb Boy sporting colors similar to the Cragger. They would quickly notice the navi spying in on the Cragger and friends...and with it...war were declared on the navi, hoping to add to the Cragger's kill count and crown.

King Cragger EXCragger EX (Cragger)

Craggers are pretty easy targets, given their size. They also move very rarely, and when they do they move slowly. Their dodge rate is abysmal. They generally rely on their HardBody defense, which reduces non-break damage by half, but doubles break damage. They have high attack power and AoE, but their accuracy is generally bad as their attacks are easy to follow and take time to deliver. Their attack is executed as a Drop Attack, and thus attacks from above, and not head-on. Targets caught underground within this attack's AoE range take an additional 50 Null damage that ignores all defenses.

Area: Netopia, Sharo, Hades Isle

HP: 160
Attack Damage/Effect: 60 Null + Break + Panel Break + WideAttack
Attack Accuracy: D
Attack Description: Slams the enemy and surrounding area with fist. This is executed as a Drop Attack, and is more damaging to targets below ground (IE: Submerged or burrowed).

BombBoy EXBombBoy EX (BombLab)

BombLab viruses attack by summoning a huge cube-shaped explosive, called a BoyBomb. They push this bomb towards their enemies, using it as cover against incoming fire as they do so. It takes a BombLab virus an action to summon a BoyBomb, and another 2 to push it into attack range of the enemy. Once the explosive is in range, it will explode the very next turn. BoyBombs have StoneBody, and can be moved with special abilities, such as Knockback, Microburst, Pull, Gravity, and Telekinesis. BoyBombs will explode if physically picked up, however (EX: Rageclaw or similar means). Bomb Lab viruses jump, not teleport, back to their starting position after setting the BoyBomb.

BasherBasher (Basher)

Basher viruses are the top-tier of the stationary gunnery viruses with an unmatched single-shot damage output among the normal viruses. They are also the rarest of their class, and appear only after battle 5. They also never appear in large numbers in a normal battle, meaning the ratio of total viruses to Bashers should be at least 4 to 1. The attack cycle of Bashers is 2 actions long, regardless of which attack they use. The first attack requires one action to charge before firing, and the second attack executes twice in succession. If they are stunned, they resume their attack cycle where it was halted once the stun wears off. They don't move, and don't dodge.

By the time courser had finished commiserating his operator about her braces, a new sight had made an appearance before him. Courser was quick to surf in and twist, pressing his shoulder to one of the massive cubes, on the opposite side of the newest large virus showing up. Not unlike the earlier group he had encountered, there was a read between the unusual Cragger, up above, and the viruses that had shown up around it and he suppressed a grimace.

“Hang with me for a second or two Jen. It might take a little while to get this stable so you can go.” He glanced through the wavy ice at the enemies on the far side. Not too bad, but he wasn't entirely familiar with the cross-faced one. Only one way to find out what its deal was, though. He took a breath and let the water eddying around his feet rise into a protective mist before darting around to either side of the cube in a quick dash. The the right of the cube, one Courser lunged outward, spinning to face the foes he could see on a light water current as he slashed both wave whips through the air one after another. They seemed to release narrowed jets of water in a high arc before falling back down amongst the gathered viruses.

To the left of the cube, he other course shifted in the opposite direction, turning to face his foes and lining up each of them while his right hand revealed the increasingly comfortable-feeling silver-worked revolver, taking his shots quickly as he arced around, first at the Basher, then the mysterious x-faced virus, and lastly the bomb-boy; the three separate concussions rang out loudly a moment or two after the first courser's watery attacks failed to connect with anything.

Courser broke of his curve, ready to dart back and take cover again, however, if any of the viruses was quick enough to attack him, and if they guessed him correctly, the momentum was broken up just right to let him dive forward instead of back. If he was attacked, the foe would find its target splitting in both directions a second time and firing quick bursts of water shot back at it as one Courser was left making for his original cover point, while the other continued forward and around.

Annoyed, but quick to act, Courseman would send out a trio of blasts from his trusty pistol, the blasts managing to ring true as the paneling beneath each target was broken up (120x3 targets, all hit) and otherwise destroyed along with two of the viruses, neither the Basher or NO-1 had a chance to evade as the BombBoyEX stood there and took it, simply pulling a bomb out of nowhere, the square explosive in front of it and ready to be pushed. Meanwhile, the Cragger stood on it's perch and taking a chance with the Courseman that was standing behind the icecube, it's massive fist rocketing towards the area he was at...and not only missing...but as the paneling cracked beneath it's fist, two shots rang out and smacked it...only more like a tiny tickle than anything worth worrying about (10x2 hits, halved damage). Courseman was ready to evade all the same and not take any damage from it...now it was just him and the two viruses.

HP: 120
Primary Attack Damage/Effect: 60 Fire + Break + Panel Break x3 Targets, 1 Action Charge
Primary Attack Accuracy: A
Primary Attack Description: The virus selects up to 3 targets, and spends an action charging up the main cannons. It may target empty panels and objects as well as enemies.
Secondary Attack Damage/Effect: 10 Fire x3 Targets + Double Attack
Secondary Attack Accuracy: A
Secondary Attack Description: Fires a 3-shot spread from the left arm cannon, then follows up with an identical attack from the right arm cannon just after. Each cannon shot requires an action, and both attacks must occur one after the other.

In a few moments, between the aggressive fire power of his revolver, and the thunderous fist from the Cragger-on-high, the field was quickly growing pock-marked with damaged holes. Courser twisted and wove across the damaged battlefield, moving out to the side so he could get a better view of his remaining targets. Opposite him, his most recent decoy did the same, but cupped one hands to his mouth as he made a distinctly rude gesture at the Cragger above.

“What're you aiming at, you lug-head? You going cross-eyed or something? I'm right here! How's a handsome devil meant to show off how weak you are if you can't even hit me straight? And you call yourself a king... royalty these days, I don't know... Useless...” It jeered across the distance in aloud, rough voice while courser himself drew up one of his wave whips and coalesced it in his palm. A spinning ball of water formed inside the main current, then compressed down further and further as he fed it. After a moment it had taken on a deep, opaque blue tone and he eyed up the bomb-pushing virus.

“You know what they say about all work and no play, right lad? Why don't you take a break and have a dip? It'll freshen you right up!” With a smirk, he flicked the compressed see across the gap between them, aiming to bean the little virus with a high-density packet of water. Hit or miss, the seed burst on impact, spreading a fresh patch of deep water as it did. After throwing the seed, Courser let his whip refresh and uncurl from his hand again the, in silence now, flicked it towards the Cragger. With any luck he cold splash the high-and-mighty virus across the back of the head, if it had been distracted by his double. Otherwise a splash in the face wold do just as well.

His primary decoy had made its way across to the far end of the field and was now watching quietly without making a show of itself, but courser winked at it and snapped the fingers on his free hand. Nearby, the familiar shape of a large, black sea-mine formed above the newly-created water. It was black and round, with blunt protrusions, and as it finished formed, it hit the water with a splash and began to sink towards the bottom. On the top of the bomb, displayed by an open panel in the black metal, a large digital three was displayed, which ticked down to two as the explosive sank.

“Great, you're almost done! Should I go now?” Jenny's voice in his ear sounded relaxed and moderately eager, but courser shook his head, then answered in a low voice.
“Not yet, Jen... this is that same strange behaviour we saw earlier. Just give it another few seconds before we do anything...”

As the mist about him refreshed itself, courser cast his eyes over the places where the other viruses had been destroyed, getting ready to handle their replacements, if the same thing happened here as the last time he'd encountered this unusual type of virus signature.

Moving out from behind the Ice cube before the viruses could try to force him out, Courseman found himself towards the side of the shield he had been holding steady behind this entire time, holding out hope he could survive the onslaught. Thankfully for Courseman, his Decoy did the trick this time, the Cragger too infuriated to see where the real one was and slammed it's fist down towards a copy he had made...and winding up smashing into it this time...the copy disappearing without a second chance to evade, but it did it's job, the paneling out of the way cracked and broken beneath the MIGHTY MEATY FIST OF KING CRAGGER.
Meanwhile, being a bit of a dick to the BombBoy just doing it's job...Courseman flicked a seed of sea water towards the BombBoy EX, smacking it in the skull and causing it to completely crumple in a puddle in front of it's beloved bomb (10, +10% Sea generation, PING!) and then a blast of water sent out to the Cragger...barely managing to hit the immovable pile of stones (10/2), causing the Cragger to swiftly turn it's head towards the navi that dare to fling...SPITBALLS at it's head. All the while, Courseman set up the bomb in the water, the counter clicking down to two shortly after.

As he did so, the viruses that Courseman had deleted...began to slowly, but surely, begin to claw their way back up from the depths of deletion, mangled, muddled and otherwise not fine, Courseman had four enemies to contend with again in various states of wellbeing...though they DID seem weaker than before...and Jenny's PET brought up something about the fight, as well as how many times each individual virus had been deleted previously.

Courser nodded to himself and suppressed the urge to mutter a cruse under his breath as the viruses surrounding the leader puled themselves back together and reformed, at least partially. He had been worried that something was up, but at least they didn't seem to be completely put together. A few more pops should break them for good, if he was lucky. He heard Jenny's puzzled reaction as she quickly tried to find more information about this behaviour, but Courser himself was focused on the battle. Now that the big guy was looking at him, Courser took a moment to stand straight and spread his arms.

“Can't keep a good man down, as they say, my liege. Care to try again? Oh, too slow!” He winked, then gestured upward towards the opposite ice block, pointing with both hands. As he did, a bank of mist and shadows washed over his form, briefly obscuring him, right as a fresh CourseMan appeared to step from the ether on top of the ice cube, level with the king. This Courser had appeared with a a large mass of water swirling about his left arm, which he held up and took a kneeling pose. It formed a long, bulky cylinder and began to stretch out further while a mass of high-pressure water swirled in the core. It looked rather like a heavy-bore hydro cannon, though the Courser holding it was very exposed and lacking any kind of cover.

“Catch this one, ya dumb rock!” The decoy called out while his attack 'charged up'.

The real Courser hadn't moved, but the shadowy misting wasn't just for show; he had taken a quick glance around the ground level, noting the Basher and the reformed cross-faced virus... still didn't know what that one did... If anything was quick enough off the mark and wasn't fooled by his double, courser was ready – the fist attack directed at him would meet only evaporating mist as the real courser warped away, and a fresh duplicate glided to the side of the attack, forming from the remaining shadows. Courser's own destination was for appearing again behind the aggressor to deliver a shadow-laced burst of water that would cling and siphon lit a tether between them for a second or two.

The flitting and shifting about was mostly as a distraction for CourseMan's main tactic over these next few seconds. While he prepared, a second puddle of shadow inked up from the ground int he middle of the area, rising into the tri-gunned form of a needler construct. If the enemy was going to keep coming back, then there was no harm adding more allies to his own side of the field, false and real alike. The needler spun in place, its guns clicking around as it began to fire a twin volley of flechettes at the three underlings. Courser stepped back and scanned the field quickly, then spread his hands to follow it up. His decoys, if either of them hadn't been crushed by enraged kings or blasted by fiery Bashers yet, both laughed and spun about in a mock copy of the needler; from each wave whip, real and fake, several darts of water scattered out to pepper the field with freezing water shot; some of the spray of bullets were fake, and just added to the confusion, but each of the viruses on the field had to deal with at least a couple of splashes send in their general direction.

Creating and getting his Shadow up, Courseman bolstered his own defenses and set himself up with his own trap to take advantage of a lull in combat, the battered Basher would begin to create ammo for itself and ready it's own guns for a proper barrage of attacks against Courseman, meanwhile, the King Cragger lifted it's arm upwards and slammed it downwards towards the Courseman atop the icecube, sending the giant meaty fist down...and missing so utterly, it's fist was a good several feet in front of both Coursemen and the ice cube it had intended to crush beneath it's fist.

Courseman setting up his Needler again as it began to move across the field deftly shooting out needles in the area, one missing the Basher while the other managing to hit (40), the N.O. attempted to dodge out of the way of the needles and getting the pair of shots embedded in it's face before it collapsed into the ground (40x2) and the BombBoy, miraculously, managed to sit still and do nothing, the needles going wide in either direction (MISS) as it contemplated what to do...PUSH of course! Jumping down and summoning a new bomb, it began to push. Push. PUUUUUSH. that bomb towards Courseman, the fuse alit and sturdy casing around it ready to explode in the navi's face. And then came Courseman's time to act once more, the shots being sent towards the Basher would both manage to connect (20x2!), the bombboy EX taking one on the noggin as the other went just to the side (10x1) and since his prior target in the N.O. was gone, would slam his pressurized whip into the outer casing of the BoyBomb, though it seemed to do little in defusing the bomb (1x2) and finally, the Cragger EX initially laughing off the puny navi's shots at it...until it's body suddenly had a fit, ice particles from it's throne finally working in Courseman's favor as it's throne melted to slush, the Cragger falling into a puddle of icey cold seawater, it was not only frozen in place and unable to attack, but it was without a throne to call it's own! How Horrible! (10x2, halved by Cragger's HardBody, Freeze1!)

The field-covering hail of shots didn't quite have the contact that Courser had been planning for, but he was mollified by the frosty fall of the Cragger king. With a smirk, he took flowery bow towards the frozen up virus.

“Nice of you to come down to our level, oh lordly one.” He stood and kicked back from the centre a little, watching the rest of the scene as he kept an eye to where the damaged Basher virus remained intact, if barely. It was making for a powerful shot, but Courser still held cloak of filtering shadows about himself in readiness. It could make the shot whenever it wanted; he would be able to mist out and soak it from behind the moment it tried to fire. At least, that was the plan... The mist teleport was the newest in his arsenal of little tricks, and he hadn't practiced it as much as some of the others.

“Hey boss, quit your worrying! Look at me! Guess whose king of the castle now, huh? Hey, does this make me the boss? Nice!” From up on the one remaining ice cube, the other courser had stepped to the edge and was waving down at him. It winked and gave a small spin, flaring its great goat, then cupped its hands towards the frigid Cragger.

“Oi, rocky! Come on, pick yourself up. You didn't get where you were by being a quitter now, did you? You can do better than that! Come on! Toughen up, man!” It put its hands on its knees and crouched slightly as it peered down at the Cragger, a mocking grin flashing teeth.

Courser himself was still keeping one eye on the Basher, ready for its attack, but turned his gaze to the BombBoy that was eagerly shoving a fresh explosive in his direction. He shook his head and raised an eyebrow.

“Work work work... you're doing too much there lad. Just take a break...” he waved a hand at it, though as he raised it the water whip on that hand receded and left his fingers bare. Instead, a much larger wave of freezing water lifter up to one side of the virus and attempted to crash down over it in a deluge. “...alright? Good...”

However the next few moments progressed, Courser's mind was already planning for when the viruses that had been destroyed would drag themselves up again. There had to be a limit on it; they were getting weaker each time. Once he's reduced them to dust properly, he could take a moment to stall while Jenny made her shop run. He tapped one foot on the ground and a small rumble beside him gave way to another virus; this one, however, emerged from the ground wearing a low profile miner's hard hat, with Courser's own emblem emblazoned on the front of it. It was a small mole that had a shovel almost as large as it, and a fancy shoulder coat that matched Courser's in design. CourseMan glanced down at it briefly as he looked around, then snapped his fingers. A mist of water vapour circled and rose around the little helper, giving it a small measure of extra protection.

“Take a crack at any of the little ones you like for now, but leave the big guy alone, understood?” Courser's instruction was serious, in a low voice that wasn't quite a whisper, and the mole nodded once, before ducking out of sight below the ground. If either of the two minion viruses were still alive, it made is way for one of them, but for now the mole gave the frozen Cragger a wide berth. Not far from Courser, his clones, his machines and his allies, nearly forgotten about, the large, black sea mine submerged in the pool or water clicked and its red display flipped over from '2' to '1'.

Quick to put the Kaibosh on the BombBoy from blowing him and everything else up to hell, Courseman would quickly crash down upon the virus, the hail of icy water drowning it's hopes and dreams faster than a corrupt politician on the local stage (110). The mole summoned then quickly made it's way underground, and just before the Basher could manage to attack, sent it's shovel towards it's back...and unfortunately whiffing the attack entirely before burrowing underground. The Basher, angry, sent out a massive salvo of missiles, tracking down three of Courser's allies...his Needler would very narrowly avoid being blasted due to the Basher's fault. Courseman's bomb would then take the brunt of another salvo, draining away the water that once was there and finally...the final salvo managing to strike where Courseman stood...and his trap activated. Courseman's body disappearing into the mists as he would quickly reappear behind the Basher, his follow up attack immediately snuffing out it's second wind (20!). All while this was happening, the Cragger finally would find itself climbing out of the pool of icy water and onto dry land since it couldn't lift it's meaty hand for anything else. Courseman would give his next fire chip a power boost and the deleted viruses...would come back again...even weaker this time around.

The minor disorientation of his sudden warp across the field wasn't as disconcerting as it might have been if Courser wasn't already getting used to the near perpetual split in his awareness while he battled. After striking down the Basher, however, he did have to stave of a brief moment of dizziness as he made eye contact with the newly formed double of himself where he had been a moment before. He blinked a few times and averted his eyes, looking to the left a little while his newest duplicate scanned to his left in turn.

His eye caught where the mine, still ticking over, had taken a substantial hit and winced before he could catch himself. Back across the field, where his newest decoy had appeared, the smoke cleared from the Basher's round and the false Courser crouched slightly and raised his hand, palms out, while his whips gathered up into concentrated balls about his hands again. Mid field, between the area where the two cubes had once been, another pool of shadow lifted up from the melted puddle that had been its previous perch and formed into another CourseMan, dusting his coat off with a nonchalance that made a point of ignoring the frozen Cragger now. It glanced towards the other decoy and shrugged, following its lead and raising a gathering of water in both hands.

“Right boys, one more time, let's cool 'em all down!” the two decoys, along with Courser himself, extended their hands and sent illusory scatterings of water pellets across the field, while, still doing its job, the needle turret spun in place and volleyed a series of actual shots at the three underling viruses in rapid succession, hidden amongst the hail of fake shots. As they made the distracting attack, Courser himself actually gestured with one hand and snapped his fingers, causing another thin veil of shadowy mist to lift from the water around his sea mine and obscure it further from being noticed.

With his other hand, Courser focused more carefully and charged a rapidly boiling heat in the core of the water whip as he purified it to complete clarity. With a flick of his wrist it straightened out into a lance, pointing out from his palm in a thin spike before shooting forward in a burst of pure super-heated water towards the bomb that the poor pushing virus would need to re-orient now, if it was still locked on him and not pushing it towards one of his doubles. The moment the lance of water hit anything, it boiled on contact, erupting in a spreading burst of high-pressure steam that vented in every direction, hopefully scalding any viruses that had been missed by his construct's flechettes.

He ducked back again as his hand dropped; a small hiss under his breath was the only immediate sound as he shook out his wrist and flexed his fingers a few times from the odd sensation and refreshed the wave whip. As he did, a subtle shift flooded across his outfit, in the form of small green stars embroidered along the trim. A slim headband had also formed to push his hair back a bit, also green and marked with cute stars. cross from him, his decoys paused in their barrage to check the field; the one in the centre was now sporting a similar headband, though this one was red, and the star pattern was different. The courser that had shouted and called the attack hadn't changed but he looked between the two others and raised an eyebrow. courser himself shrugged and looked away, while the red-wearing one pulled a face.

“Hey, don't be jealous now. Just because you can't pull off this look!” It spread its arms and turned about flaunting the change in its coat with a laugh. “It takes a handsome devil to look good in this. that's why I'm the one wearing it and you aren't!”

“Can it and kill these things!” The unchanged decoy shouted back while, unremarked until now, the coat-wearing mole virus emerged from the ground in its latest effort to bash something with the back of its shovel. Exactly what it went for would depend on what was left, but it had a particular desire to clock the Basher that it had missed before, if it was still available. It still obeyed Course's original instruction to leave the temptingly vulnerable Cragger alone, and contented itself with staying underground and unseen if there was nothing to hit right now. Courser himself scanned the area one more time, then shrugged.

“Some of us don't need to show off and make a big scene to attract attention you know. I think you're both just over-compensating, and it's kind of sad...” He spoke quietly, backing away from th fight slightly and flicking his hands out in either direction. To one side, and small, black metal device began to form, far out at the edge of the field. It cast a long, almost invisible green laser sight across the ground in a straight line, bisecting the field in a way that passed just behind the Basher's area by a hair's breadth, near where the strange x-faced virus seemed to be residing, but, by an inconvenience of the angles, didn't actually pass anywhere near the frozen Cragger.

His other gesture flicked more towards the Needler, and a rustle of wind and leaves picked up, creating a rapid whirlwind of shapes that further obscured its shape. Courser moved back and away from where he's set the laser line, eyeing up the explosive summoned by the cap-wearing virus.

“That one knows the game. He knows who the real goal is. The one worth pursuing, and not some flashy show-off.” He walked backwards further, weaving from side to side a little as he did. The little tyke would need to push his bomb through the laser line if he wanted to get to Courser – the real one at least, and that would be alight show all of its own. Courser made sure he was far enough away, and checked that his on constructs weren't in the line, then reached out and made a another gesture with a free hand, teasingly inviting anything that was till watching to come closer, then turned his back and strode another step or two. A glance over his shoulder and a smirk came before a last comment. “It's not like any of them have the guts to lay a finger on me anyway...” Above his head, the water that had previously been trailing from his water whips receded and then massed above him ion a broad rushing disc, water racing up the central extension, before flooding out in every direction to form something of a parasol; he gripped the handle with one hand, humming quietly to himself.

Disoriented and slowed down from his sudden teleport, Courseman's Needler was already at work, scuttling across the field with a once over, shooting a quartet of needles at a trio of targets. Two needles managing to land square on the Basher before it could so much as think of what to do (40x2), the N.O. deciding that it wasn't dealing with more needles in it's eyes as it began to retreat...in the wrong direction, catching one needle in the back of the head and then a second one at the base of it's neck unfortunately (40x2), the BombBoyEX, however, managed to get off relatively lightly as one pair of needles missed to the side of it's head and thankfully the other managed to hit dead on with it's sunglasses, causing a spiderweb of cracks across the surface (40) tough shades. The BombBoy's cool shades however would not last long as Courseman blasted the BombBoy EX in the face before it could move, lightly singing the bomb it was about to push (60). The Cragger shook a fist at the Coursemen (and rambled off at them in various slurs and swears at them in Virus Tongue) on the field as it began to retreat even further towards the back of the field...slowly...stupid heavy body. At least it's icey prison was gone for the time being, it was ready to smash as soon as it could feel it's joints again.

Courseman, meanwhile, was getting all dressed up and fancy as he brought himself into a cross. Time passed, he brought down a stick of dynamite and pointed it...juuuuuust right for his purposes, it was ready and waiting...and all the while, the Cragger King would finally attack again, arms raised, a massive meaty fist was flung downwards...on the Courseman atop one of the Coursemen...and it hit...a clone...it's face was RED, not just angry, but outright FURIOUS as it shouted at Courseman and his "cheap tricks", amongst other things that no polite person would translate from virus tongue. Courseman would pass the time by not only protecting his hired help, but moving away from his placed explosive and then summoning a shield. Then the viruses deleted...once again...lived again...and they were showing more tear than wear, whole sections of the viruses were gone, they were on their last legs...

While the viruses kept pulling themselves back together, there was a definite sign that they didn't have too much structure left. Courser took a quick glance around the field, then nodded to himself.

“Alright Jen, go for it. You've got the list?” He stood straight and absently twirled the haft of his parasol between his fingers, then turned to face the reformed BombBoy, bending slightly to blow a kiss in its direction. In his ear, he heard Jenny give a brief affirmative, and heard the sounds of her hurriedly getting up from her table.

“Sorry dear, I'm afraid you've been a bit too slow. There's something you forgot...” Courser winked at the virus, before a dull thud echoed across the battlefield. A moment later, the sea mine detonated, blasting the entire battlefield in an explosive shock-wave. Courser braced himself, the wind and debris sending his coat billowing as he gripped his parasol with both hands.

As the dust settled, Courser stretched and looked about. He rolled his shoulders and waved one hand above his head, then pulled the green headband away from his forehead as his coat settled back to its original patterning. The parasol-shaped water shield remained, however, and he twirled it playfully again. His attention settled on the Cragger that was, to be fair, not having the best of days any more. He took a very gentle stroll towards it as his form shimmered in the watery mist and split again, leaving two parasol-twirling CourseMen ambling side by side

“Well, my liege, I think we're getting close to wrapping up, don't you?” Not far away, the needler and the mole set to work attacking any viruses other than the Cragger that had survived the blast; if there was nothing else for them to do, however, the mole satisfied itself by climbing on top of the needler, while the turret trundled in mocking circles about the centre of the battlefield, making a taunting horn sound every few moments.

Despite his relaxed posture, courser himself was still prepared for furious assaults from the Cragger; the first time it, or anything else, actually had a go at him, Courser was ready to take a gentle step to on side, which would become a water-current glide away; as was his usual technique, the evasion would see him splitting off in two different directions, creating yet another parasol-wielding copy of himself. The one that shimmered right, in this case, lifted a hand to his mouth with a faux-shocked expression.

“Manners! That's no way to behave.” Opposite, the other Courser shook his head.
“Aye, show some grace in defeat!” Both of them, if triggered, flicked a free hand out in the Cragger's direction to pelt it with small flecks of water; they were obviously more insult than injury to the sturdy virus, but even the little chips were beginning to add up for it by now.

While he waited for his allies to take care of things, and for the other viruses to pull themselves back together again, if they still could, courser and his latest collection of allies stayed on the far side of the dynamite's laser line, from where the Bomboy and its bomb lingered; the best explosions were the ones that blindsided, after all, and with any luck the hapless pusher would be unaware of it completely by the time it was ready to push again.

With Jenny away buying upgrades, and no more chips incoming for a short while, Courser focused the rest of his time on refreshing his defences, just in case any of them had been compromised; as coy as he was playing it, things could still hurt, and badly, if they actually got a chance to attack, and him him cleanly; He intended to form a fresh shield above his head, if the first got broken, but otherwise he drew up the wall of rushing water and positioned it to face the remains of the Basher virus instead.

With his netop gone, field beginning to Courseman's bomb was quick to blow it's lid, an explosion rocketing across the entirety of the field, obliterating the other ice cube that sat on the field, along with all three of the viruses that had been just deleted (100), the Cragger King would withstand the blast pretty well, a fair bit of black soot upon it's body from the blast (100/2), the Cragger immediately running it's mouth off again at the navi, it's crown now melted and fused to it's head from the heat of the blast.

Shortly after, ditching his cross and getting himself ready to counter against the virus, with his helpers just...chilling out really, the Cragger lifted it's giant meaty hand and slammed down towards the field...aaaaaaand another miss from the Cragger King. Crushing the panel in front of the Needler, Courseman charged his buster and summoned another shield upwards towards where the Fists flew down at him...and with another attempt to smash Courseman...it smashed the clone that had been summoned...oh boy did it throw a MASSIVE shitfit about this, outright screaming incoherently at the navi as it began to throw a temper tantrum at the navi. Couseman charged a bit more, readying himself to evade an attack that would never come. Finally, the viruses reformed one final time, each one of them looking like they were about to die just by being breathed upon in the wrong way.

As the viruses pulled themselves together one more time, Courser eyed each of them up. He'd be surprised if they managed it any more, but there was no sense taking chances. As much as the Cragger wasn't the most precise of adversaries, he had no doubt that its crushing blows would give his defences a harsh work out if they connected. He looked around once more, then took a short sliding step to one side, water kicking up around his feet as his steps glided. A duplicate of him reformed, sliding in the other direct at the same time.

As they parted, the decoy appeared to take the water-formed parasol with it, leaving courser himself with only his front-facing shield of rushing water. The parasol-wielding CourseMan ambled over towards the Cragger a few more steps, twirling the defence in his hands with a grin, and a slight skip in his step.

“There's no sense getting mad about it, sugar-lump... You'll turn into rock-salt if you keep on with language like that, you know? Here... one more time, dear... I'll even stand still for you. Don't worry, you won't hurt me – there's no way you could break through this shield anyway. Just give it your best, alright?” The clone smiled and reached out a hand waving the Cragger on with his invitation.

At the same time, Courser himself was facing towards the rest of the field, looking mostly towards where the BombBoy had reformed again, still ready to push. He looked pointedly between the boy and its bomb, then shook his head.

“Listen lad... I appreciate the effort, but that old thing is starting to look pretty scrappy. you'd really best get it over here quickly if you want to do any good with it. I'll hold off on the normal fireworks for a few moments, just for you, alright?” As long as it pushed in a straight line, it would need to cross the laser sight from his dynamite, and courser took another step back from the line. If the other viruses were quicker of the mark, he still had plenty of other tricks up his sleeve, and his eyes darted to the reformed Basher and the cross-faced one as well, watching them for unexpected actions.

If the bomb-pushing virus took the bait and crossed the line in its pursuit of him, Courser braced himself against the shaped explosive line that was primed to rip across the field and hopefully obliterate the minion viruses once and for all, but he wasn't going to rely on a single point of coverage; one way or another, an explosion was probably coming – either from his own dynamite, or from the BombBoy's charge; that was the signal, more or less, for Courser's other tools to join him in the mop-up effort.

Courser kicked backwards and, provided it was still there, linked an arm with one of his decoys to spin about in a rough circle, pelting the field with a fresh spray of water pellets, while his constructs did the same; the Needler went from horn-mocking beeps to spraying needles again in an instant, and the coat-clad mole picked a target of his own to take another crack at. It still wanted a piece of that Basher, if it was intact, but failing that it made for the Cragger this time instead.

When the cross-field hail of fire exhausted itself, Courser twirled to a stop and paused to brush his fingers through his hair and shake the droplets off with a sigh. A fresh mist rose around him and he took along breath, closing his eyes and taking in the soothing cool. when he opened his eyes, the navi's playful expression had settled back to one of calm seriousness.

“Right. I think we're done here.” His gaze flicked towards the angered Cragger, and this time when he took a stance, it was obviously more combat-oriented. his wave whips unfurled down his arms and into sinuous snakes of water, before the navi lunged forward and twisted, lashing one whip, then the other, down at the monarch virus with substantially more rock-crushing power than his previous light slaps.

Dodging backwards, and giving the Cragger King a fighting chance...for once...the Cragger immediately taking up the offer, sending it's giant meaty fist...down upon Courseman himself, the one in front of him immediately crushed beneath the fist with little trouble...for once again. The Basher, turning to see the original, would begin to load up for it's biggest blast, seemingly ignoring the Dynamite, the BoyBomb would begin to be pushed towards Courseman...and with it...his trap triggering immediately as the bomb began to move through the line and a blast of heat and shrapnel immediately shooting through the line, immolating the entire line of viruses that protected the King. A twitch on the king's face said it all, it knew it was completely alone now...it had avoided being immolated on top of everything else due to the distance from everything.

Finally the battle was wrapping up as a barrage of attacks were aimed directly at the Cragger finally, the two shots from Courseman flying off to smack directly on the virus (10+10/2) for minimal damage, the Momogra whacking it upside the head with it's shovel from behind (15/2) as well as a duo of twin needles imbedding themselves deep inside the tired, angry king (40+40/2), and finally, a charge shot smashing into it's chest, not just once...but twice. The defeated Cragger taking it's death with some dignity in the face of the navi. Finally, battle routines ended and with it...absolute gobs of Bugfragments would begin to pop up all amongst the field without hesitation, as well as zenny interspersed between it all.

N.O-1N.O-1 (N.O.)

N.O. viruses are top-tier in combat, and will never appear in a thread before battle 6. N.O. viruses move and dodge at average speed. Unlike their battlechip, N.O. viruses DO NOT require an object to exist behind them in order to attack. All N.O. viruses regenerate 30 HP per action (of the virus) after taking damage. They do this at all times as a passive ability. N.O. have OmniShoes, and prefer to attack from the air.

HP: 120
Primary Attack Damage/Effect: 60 Fire + Break + Panel Break x3 Targets, 1 Action Charge

Special: Immobile
- Main attack destroys panels, reducing enemy evasion by 1 Rank.

Battle 6 Victory!
2400z, 52 Bugfrags
Courser stood straight again and flicked his whips outward once as he shook himself out. A brief wash of water lifted from one hand gesture and crashed over him and he took a long breath, shaking his hair out and rolling his shoulders.

“Right. that's that. Interesting mutation, I'll give it that much. Are we all set, Jen? I heard you getting back and settled.” He looked around, checking the much damaged battle scene over once again for anything of note while his various combat defences faded away and dissipated. A surprising amount of fragment data, but little else remained. He supposed he might have overdone it with the explosives, just a little bit.

“I'm back! Everything's all fine, and the updates all went through clean. Are you okay?” Jenny sounded slightly out of breath, but not overly so. Courser focused for a moment and let the mists enshroud him again; denser now, and more able to obscure or obfuscate him from harmful attacks. He nodded and let it fade.

“I'm fine, no damage. Everything looks good here, you ready to press on?”
“Yeah. I just ordered a herbal tea. It says it's got lemon grass, and rosehips, and mint. I'm intrigued.” Courser just chuckled to himself then kicked off, stepping onto the rapidly flowing eddy of water and gliding away from the scene of destruction, further into the Sharo network.
