Powie Zowie [Nightshade and DragonierMan]

Everyone quickly gathered their rewards and regrouped a few blocks away. "Good work so far. We have destroyed a large number of enemies today, with more to come," he stated. He then looked at his arm bracer, which popped up a digital clock window showing the time. "Even with that endurance match, are making good time. I think we can go for another few battles before we wrap up for the day."

He chuckled. "By the time we are done, it will take them a long time to repopulate. Even with their seemingly endless numbers." He turned to address YumiShade. "You up for another two-to-three battles?" he asked them as he scanned the horizon for the next challenge.

[Requesting Battle 3.]

Yumishade was currently busy huggling the living hell out of Suzume, but from the way he was showing her how cool his uniform was and how nice Aya's old tabi boots he was wearing felt during combat it would be easy to tell he would have to go through a good few more battles before all tht energy would be used up.

[Requestig battle 3]
((+1FXP))

The party moved on, combing the beach and keeping an eye out for their next collection of bounty viruses. The light breeze settled down to still air before long and the warmth of the sun became a more pointed summery heat. They found themselves moving away from the beach itself, slightly, crossing a low point in the dunes and moving through meandering board paths, set on a mixture of sandy sprawl and scattered grassy verges, always with the regular, rhythmic crash of the beach waves not too far off to the right, just out of sight.

They'd only travelled a short way before a second background sound began to join the first; the gentle rush or running water. The path they were on led in short order out to a broad spring. It looked constructed, more like a water feature or miniature park, perhaps for navis who didn't feel like going in the ocean itself? It was made up of a broad moat of water, maybe waist deep on someone like Nightshade, with a grass-covered island in the centre. The island had three structures – tall, mushroom-shaped fountains, with a single pillar each supporting a wide caps. Each one flowed with water, creating a spray about the area, and more solid water curtains cascading down from the 'cap' of each fountain. The largest one in the centre was four or five nightshades tall, and its cap covered the majority of the central island, sheltering it from the sun, while the two smaller ones nestled under its shade, only about two nightshades tall each, closer to the edges of the island.

The idyllic little water park was, unfortunately, not vacant at the moment. A couple of aquatic viruses occupied one side of the outer pool – a starfish, and one with a spiralling shell. Perched on the top of the largest fountain, barely in sight, a Walla seemed to be enjoying the water flowing about it, though it seemed to be risking scratching the structure with its large tusks. A pair of Powies had just hopped into sight from between the dunes, to the back left of where the hunting party emerged, but taking absolute pride of place was the massive, massive polar bear that had seated itself in the middle, with its back pressing heavily against the central pillar, which creaked with ominous complaint. the virus, if it was a virus, barely fit under the structure, and would easily about twenty feet tall, if it stood up on its hind legs fully. It seemed to be trying to escape the heat, but gave a ground-shaking roar of challenge as Drago, Nightshade and the rest of their band showed up.

As the sound faded away and the creature rocked forward onto its feat with a grumble, and blur of motion caught the group's attention. Darting between the dunes, to emerge on the left of the water park, a small figure was made to look even more diminutive alongside the gigantic bear. She was perhaps three feet tall at best, including the height of a set of soft rabbit ears rising from either side of her head, and was covered in short, white fur wherever it showed beneath a festive, yet beach-appropriate outfit. There wasn't a lot to it, but enough to be reservedly decent – a red chest band, made of light swim-suit material was trimmed with white and had patterns of snowflakes across it, along with a pair of round seasonal puddings patterned on the front in an impressionistic style. She was also wearing a denim skirt that was lightly pleated and had seasonal messages written on it in red and white glittery text. The only other piece of clothing seemed to be a slim sun visor, that converted into a light, fluttering, floppy, santa-cap, nestled between her ears, and coming to a point with a bright red pom-pom part way down her back.

As she came to a halt at the edge of the water, a small rabbit tail could be seen in brief flashes at the back of her skirt, and along with her other visible features, it would be hard to describe her as anything other than a bunny girl of some sort. She had a small wicker basked looped over one arm but looked around the area with a sharp, blue gaze while one hand rustled around inside it. It was a figure that Drago himself might recognise, though the last time he and his SPs had seen the bubbly gift-giver it had been in a much more hostile network. She paused and stopped rummaging in her basket to clap her hands when she saw the massive Kodiak.

“Oh! You guys found a big one!!” The voice was soft and high-pitched, as might be expected, but it managed to avoid being squeaking or shrill. After a moment she shook her head and pulled a small crystal out of the basket, flipping it onto the ground beside her at the edge of the water. It rapidly expanded into a full sized mystery data.

“Hey there, sorry, business first, hehe. Seasonal greetings and all that! Lot of you in this group! Don't worry, there's enough for everyone, and it's all safe and guaranteed not locked or trapped. Whew...” She flopped down on the ground and kicked her feet in the water, seemingly unperturbed by the increasingly irate viral presence.

“I'm going to stay and watch this one. It gets hot running the beaches, and the water here is really nice...” She glanced briefly at DragonierMan and raised a curious eyebrow, then looked at the rest of his party, her eyes settling for the last few moments on Nightshade and his SP. “If you need help, give me a shout, okay? I shouldn't, but there's been a huge Powie overload out on the beach today... it's driven a bunch of newbies away... going to have to fix that later. Ugh... Oh well.”

The Kodiak roared again, unhappy about being ignored, but the bunny girl just leaned back on her hands and splashed her feet in the water.

PowiePowie (Powie)

Powies are never encountered in confined spaces, like a low ceilinged cave and such (for obvious reasons). Powies also never intentionally jump to broken or missing terrain. They will, however, attempt attacks over broken or missing terrain if they see an enemy there. Powies will not attempt to attack the same target on two consecutive actions.

Area: ACDC, Electown, Netopia, Beach

HP: 60
Attack Damage/Effect: (Movement(High-Alt) + Knockback) Then (20 + Break + PanelCrack + Nova1)
Attack Accuracy: C
Attack Description: Leaps quickly into the air, knocking away anything it collides with, before stopping directly above an enemy. They will then immediately change into a 10-ton press and fall down. The impact of the fall creates an explosion.
Element: None
Possible Rewards (Per Virus): Quake1, Zenny
Special: AirShoes.
Special: The explosion does not trigger if the virus attacks a target on Broken/Missing terrain and misses. It will not fall into Broken/Missing terrain with its attacks unless forcefully pushed in.

Suzume gave out a little squeak as she was set upon by YumiShade. "My, you two are always so affectionate. It must be multiplied when you two are fused," she said as she patted their back. "Now keep your wits about you, we are moving along and have to be careful for any surprises." Suzume gently extracted herself from YumiShade's hug before the group continued their trek.

It wasn't long before the group traveled further inland and came upon a tiny waterpark. Magistrate smirked as she surveyed the area, thinking back to Keep's Castle, and how they converted that into a water park. However, it seemed that this place was infested with viruses. Viruses that were playing around in it like normal navis. Strangely enough, one of them looked like a polar bear, which was well out of place in a beach environment. DragonierMan returned the ground-shaking roar of challenge it bellowed, though the navi's voice wasn't nearly as strong.

But before it could come to blows, a small bunny girl appeared in festive attire. She looked familiar, but Drago was having a tough time placing her. Suzume and Aya, much more astute and with sharper minds, gave an affirmative nod to the bunny girl Prose. "Well, if it isn't trapped, we can get it off the playing field right away," Aya said as her form shimmered and disappeared. She appeared right beside the GMD and placed her hands on the polyhedron, attempting to open it. She looked over at Prose. "This is about to get messy. You should probably move to a safe distance."

"YumiShade I want you to take the bear," DragoDad told his adoptive son, pointing at the Kodiak V1 Meta-virus. "I think you two can do it. We'll keep the others off your back," he said as the rest of them shimmered and disappeared. Drago appeared next to the Walla and brought down a massively sharp, glowing bearclaw to slash through the thick hide of the beast. It was possible for the Walla to block the navi's attack with its own tusks, but that was a risk Drago was willing to take.

Meanwhile, Magistrate and Suzume had teleported directly above a pair of viruses each. Glowing golden orbs appeared around Magi again as she unleashed her accurate trio of ThunderBeams to strike at the aquatic viruses in the pool. The third of the three beams lanced off somewhere to deal with one of the other nearby viruses. Seeking out worthy prey to devour. Suzu appeared above the Powies and dropped slimey blobs of MetaGel upon them, taking advantage of the fact that they tended to fly before they dropped. The third of the trio of viscous gel dropped on one of the other viruses. It was kind of hard to tell during the massive brawl that was starting to form in the previously peaceful waterpark.

After attacking, the four dragoniers split up and dashed away into the air, taking their places above the battlefield once more. Defenses layered themselves around them as they glided in a circle above the battlefield, waiting to see how the initial attack fared. They jerked from side to side if they saw attacks coming in their direction. They attempted to dodge and weave through the storm of counterfire.

And another battle is a go! Yumishade nodded and went to work. So, this time it was going to be a bigger virus. Alright. Nothing too fancy. Just need to smack him dead like the rest.

Ayashade raised his guard up and rushed over to the target. On approach,he would use the grassy field to his advantage. Better destroy that. After that, switch up terrain to somethig more his taste and then just attack relentlessly. That meant clawing the ever living hell out of it.

Nighty had never seen the thing before, but if people taught him: If it bleeds we can kill it!

As battle started to break out, Aya warped across to where Prose was kicking her feet in the water. The diminutive figure grinned up at her as Aya accessed the data directly, causing its contents to unpack and circle about her, pending a formal transfer until after combat routines were disengaged. A she did so, however, the Kodiak let out a final bellow of challenge, determined to out-shout DragonierMan's return challenge. This roar made the whole water park shake and tremor, and every navi and sp in the area felt a paralysing jolt run through them, causing flinches and momentary disorientation. Prose kicked to her feet while Aya felt the debilitating stun flood her for a moment, before the bunny-girl's fingertip booped her nose, accompanied by a quiet giggle. Immediately, the stun subsided.

“Well, I was going to keep it safe for all of you, but I guess that means I can help out a little, huh?” she glanced out to where the others were pushing through their own stuns and beginning to obliterate the viral presence with zeal. “Eh... not that you guys need it... Say... when're you and the big guy planning on hitting the chaos? A vacation up here like this is great and all, but the work down there always needs more strong hands...” Watching the battle unfold, she seemed relaxed and casual, despite the wroth growling and raging of the massive virus a few feet away.

As the delivery girl chatted to Aya, Drago, Magistrate and Suzume all warped into position while Nightshade and Yumi prepared their defences together and made ready to charge the central target. The nautilus drew a foaming barrier about itself, then blasted a marching column of water towards the Yumishade duo; with the water of the pool fuelling its attack, the jets of water burst up with lamentable speed; the duo did their best to dodge away from it, but Nightshade himself still took the brunt of one blast, which stripped away his outer most layer of defence.

The Walla glanced up in a panic as Drago appeared above it, and launched both of its tusks in an almost cross-eyed state. One lanced up towards Drago, but missed him as he arrived from his warp. the other darted down towards the left side of the field, to where Aya and prose were standing; the bunny girl tilted her head slightly and the tusk crumpled and disintegrated a few inches out from her head. Drago attacked the fear-stricken Walla with his claws, but an ill turn of luck saw it throw itself bodily off the large mushroom towards the water below, in an attempt to get away from him.

Eager to play to a terrain advantage, Nightshade shook off the hit he'd taken and launched a heat shot at the Kodiak in front of him; it wasn't a particularly well-aimed shot, but fortunately for the fused duo, the bear was large and easy to hit. The grass ignited and drew a satisfying bellow of discomfort from the creature, though it didn't so much as flinch or move back at all. It took a step forward, in fact, raising its claws ready to tear apart the little creature that dared attack it directly.

A short distance away, the starfish was dealing with a similar situation to the Walla, shocked by the surprise proximity of one of its foes. It immediately started blowing bubbles, attempting to catch magistrate as she appeared, or at least put some kind of barrier between her and it, but ultimately its efforts were to no avail. Magistrate avoided the single bubble that would have been on target for her, before zapping it with a level of overkill that was vaguely becoming the unwilling SP's signature style. Also victims of Magistrate's fury were the nearby Nautilus, whose bubble barrier did nothing at all to save it, as well as the unfortunate Walla, who got electrocuted mere moments after escaping from Drago's claw attack.

On the other side, Suzume prepared an attack of her own, lining up with the two Powies and dropping large gooey gel blobs onto the pair just as they leapt upwards, right into them. The third blob dropped into the middle of the pool, more or less; it may have been aiming for a virus, but whatever it had been directed at, it missed by a wide margin.

Back in the centre of the water park, the Yumishade duo rushed into close the distance tot he kodiak, and slashing it with their own much smaller claws. The attack hit, though it felt like a very small scratch on such a large creature. The Kodiak responded by reaching back, wrapping both claws about the central shaft of the middle water fountain, and then uprooting it entirely to bring the whole of the large structure structure smashing down on top of the pair. Unable to tell where one began and the other ended, this time it was Yumi who took the force of the blow, as it crushed through her barrier and ripped apart her casing as well. The pair were smashed bodily into the ground and knocked flat under the destroyed ruins of the fountain, but a moment later a ripple of magnetic panels spread out from them, replacing the water with something more suitable to electric types.

Drago and his SPs zipped up and away, taking an aerial view of the scene and getting ready for their next move, while Nightshade and Yumi picked themselves up and came out of the rubble swinging. the zeal and enthusiasm was admirable, but unfortunately they seemed to be striking blind in those first few seconds after getting back to their feet; their swipes went wide and failed to connect with the great bear.

Aya looked at Prose as the stun subsided, one eyebrow arched in question. "Thanks... for the assist," she said, slowly, with a pause. Her leathery wings fluttered a little. "You didn't really need to though. I have this well under control." Aya then waved a hand in front of her body and a vid-window popped up near Prose:

Quote (Signatures)

Aya's Aegis 1: 20HP Barrier + 20HP Casing + Movement. [2 TCD]. [2 TCD].
Aya's Aegis 2: 20HP Barrier + 20HP Casing + Movement. [2 TCD]. Available.
Aya's Aegis 3: 20HP Barrier + 20HP Casing + Movement. [2 TCD]. Available.
Aya's Blink 1: Teleport. [2 TCD]. [2 TCD].
Aya's Blink 2: Teleport. [2 TCD]. Available.
Aya's Blink 3: Teleport. [2 TCD]. Available.
Aya's Remedy: 30 Healing + Status Cure + Dodge. [3 TCD]. Available.

"As you can see at the end there, I am quite capable of dealing with the odd status effect," Aya said with a little hint of pride.

She then listened as Prose asked her about Chaos Net. "Given how busy we have been with helping out the Neo-Shoguns and training others, we haven't had a lot of time to go spelunking into the Lower Nets," Aya replied. She then noted one of the Walla's attacks disintegrating near Prose. Probably a barrier or something. "We might have some room open later if you want to go for a deeper dive," Aya commented to Prose. It was clear with how she was acting that Prose could take care of herself.

Then her eyes twitched for a moment as she thought of something. "... Hold that thought. You're help just now does free me up to do this!" she said before spreading her wings and flying off. She decided to activate that very same recovery signature she had just shown Prose, but directed it at YumiShade in a beam of light. Suzume suffered through the Stun before using her own healing signature to break the second part of the YumiShade duo out of their Stun as well. DragonierMan and Magistrate decided to use their own recovery on themselves. The better movement allowed them to attempt to avoid attacks from the remaining Kodiak V1 while they strategized.

The dragoniers cheered from above as YumiShade fought the polar bear. They waited for them to spar a few rounds before bringing their own fire to bear. Drago shot from the sky like a comet and attempted to smash into the Kodiak V1. Aya teleported away. And Magistrate fired precision energy blasts down upon the virus.

When Aya appeared again, she was in melee range. She drew a shining sword clad in a bright emerald light, and thrust it into the back of the giant meta. Drago squared up and jabbed his own brilliant golden first at the meta's face. And the two other dragoniers barraged it from above with more cannon fire.

Thankfully for Yumishade, his family was always watching over him, making sure he would have room to train and make mistake but still be relatively safe and sheltered.

Now, there would be time to be grateful later. The bear was his game, it would not be right not finishing his job. He wanted to make both fater and siblings proud. So, Yumishade was quick at his feet and schemes again, still wanting to make good use of his claws. Blue scales spread further down the navi's arms, down to the elbows. Apparently, the two had been watching and learning from their wardens.Their transformation was still quite crude and unrefined, also helped by the chip they were using, compared to Aya's and Suzume's dragonic look but Yumishade's arms had actually become dragon claws. More over it seemed they were pulsating with Yumi's water powers as the little wyvern finally managed to properly channel some of her strenght through the bond they shared.

Yumishade launched once more at the metavirus, baring his claws ready to block and protect himself from the virus' attack. Three more swipes, each one in auick succession. After that, some more dragon themed attacks thanks to another much more powerful chip in the young navi's arsenal.

The stunning roar from the Kodiak might normally have caused other navis a problem, but within moments those that could had already shaken it off, and those that couldn't do so received help from allies. Drago and his crew held back, however, readying themselves but giving their charge a chance to end the fight with his own strength.

As Aya explained herself and zipped away to rejoin her formation, their spectator held her response until things were calmer, and settled back against a tree to watch. Her eyes focused mostly on Nightshade and Yumi, carefully watching the duo as they faced off against their monumental foe.

With an audience of several cheering him on, nightshade began assaulting the Kodiak again, launching himself and Yumi at it. His strikes were a little wild, but they managed to be accurate enough to hit the gigantic bear. It roared again as they met, sending another stunning tremor through the air, before attempting to rend Nightshade and Yumi in turn with its own claws. The exchange was brief and violent, but the bear couldn't get through all of Nightshade's defences despite its efforts. When the smaller fighter pulled back long enough to launch his final attack, the draconic-themed fire snake wrapped around the bear an immolated it in a large burst of fire.

Despite this, however, when the fire cleared, the virus was still standing, rearing up and roaring in pained defiance. It was badly burned and barely standing, but it wasn't backing down. Just before Drago and his team were forced to step in, however, a final burst of motion and energy from Yumi brought Nighty's claws around in one last slash that cut the roar short into a low moan. Silence for a moment, and then the massive creature tumbled forward into the pool with a resounding crash.

As the mostly-intact beach-side pool returned to peacefulness, the sound of small hands clapping came from the side of the area, where the outside guest was on her feet again, grinning as she applauded.

Drago and his team had no further need of their readied weapons and were able to stow them again and collect their rewards. Meanwhile, Prose splashed playfully across the shallow water to approach Nightshade and look between him and the rapidly breaking down remnants of the Kodiak.

“Nice job there. You did really well!” She nudged him in the shoulder and winked, giggling. “Both of you! A little stronger every day, right?” She leaned in a little closer and gave the duo a faux conspiratorial grin. “You keep on battling and busting, and one day you'll probably even give the big guy a run for his money.” She skipped back again, then waved to the others.

“I'm not really meant to get involved in the fighting when there are others around. I'm kinda meant to keep contact to a minimum, really... I kind of don't play nice with navis, except in little short dates like this... It'd be a bad idea for me to fight with others around... but I figure, as long as I don't actually do any of the offence stuff, it's probably okay, right?” She shrugged and splashed her feet in the water again. “Still, if you don't mind that, and you wanted to do something when I'm off the clock, we might be able to work something out. I do a lot of things, for a lot of important reasons.” she paused and folded her arms. “And yes, giving out presents to netbattlers is important!” the pout only lasted a moment before she continued. “I'm always busy, but I can probably find time if you wanted to... I just might have to do some work while I play, a bit. It's just how it goes.” She shrugged her shoulders and made a point of shaking herself out and stretching.

“Anyhow, I've still got a few deliveries left on my list for today, but I'm almost at the end of it. Once that's done, I'm going to have to sort out this Powie problem too... rest when you're dead, right?” For the last bit, she grinned again, doing her best to show the jest in the phrase rather than anything more serious.

The dragoniers took a moment to gather their winnings and regroup with Prose and YumiShade. Prose explained further who she was and what she was doing there. Kind of. Then answered that she really couldn't join them in future busting runs. Aya nodded in understanding. "Sounds like we shouldn't keep you."

DragonierMan tried to place a hand on YumiShade's shoulder and give it a little squeeze. "You did well against that Metabear," he said with a little pride in his voice. "Looks like you learned well from us." He then looked to Prose. "Thanks for the holiday cheer."

Susume and Aya presented a sack with their stone tower navi symbol and handed it to YumiShade. It contained his share of the rewards from the previous battle as YumiShade didn't seem like they collected them. "We believe you forgot to store these in your PET before we continued last time," Suzume said. "You may wish to record the spoils from last battle, as well as this one. In the spirit of the season, here is a little gift from your 'sisters'. Your very own, limited-edition, dragonier storage sack."

[Attached: Limited-EditionDragonierStorageSack.dat]

Yumishade would glue to Drago's waist for a moment making sure to squeeze one fun hug out of him. He and Yumi both were quite proud of having impressed their adoptive family with their busting skills.

The little navi's blue armor slowly peeled off his body and flopped on the ground like a puddle. Yumi rose from the gelatinous data and stretched. As much as she liked being merged with Nightshade, it was rather tiring. Once she was fine, she hopped his way around towards Magistrate. Once she had her had safely under her mom's hand, she turned around to curiously observe whoever was there with Aya and Suzume.

Nighty of course was overjoyed at the gift. He would first take the satchel and make sure it would be safely secure to his back before jumping at Suzume's neck. From there on, Nightshade would pretty much be too busy snuggling with Suzume to properly salute Prosopopeia. Hell, his arms and hands were still dragon like. It didn't seem to bother him. As long as he could hug...

"Who are you?" Yumi asked, looking at the new arrival. "Why are you here?"
Prose had a wink for Aya, and a relaxed smile. She shrugged and stretched, rolling her shoulders one more time and bouncing on her toes like she was thinking about running.

“It's a living...” was the quiet response before she turned a brighter, more attentive smile to the newly separated Yumi. She didn't seem to mind her greeting being ignored by Nightshade, and instead focused solely on Yumi. Some element of the more over-bright performance came back, almost like she was putting a work face on again. She offered a hand to the SP.

“I'm an easter bunny, of course. I just help the other holidays out in the off season! You are adorable! You can call me Prose, and I'm here to give special gifts and prizes to netbattlers just like you, all over the net!” She giggled into one hand. “But I'm getting really behind my delivery rounds now. Lots of presents to give out, so I've got run! But you keep on battling and getting stronger, and maybe I'll see you again next holiday!” She skipped back across the water again and reclaimed the wicker basket she'd set down earlier.

“Got to go, guys and gals! Stay safe and good luck!” The bunny-girl backed off to the edge of the tree line as she called out, then waved one more time, hand making broad sweeps with her free arm above her head. A moment later she darted off between the trees and swiftly disappeared from sight, leaving the other programs in the small water park to decide where to head next. From here, the green verge continued for a while, but at any point they could head back into the dunes, and likely find another stretch of beach. further on, the land seemed to rise and grow rockier; it might head up to some cliff-side bluffs, potentially.
As the bunny girl darted away, the dragoniers gave her a wave goodbye. "Her name was Prose," Magistrate told Yumi with a squeeze of her hand. "DragonierMan met her some time ago in a similar situation. She seems to act as some sort of delivery girl, probably for the GNA, when a major holiday comes along. Another way for them to score positive PR with the general populace."

DragonierMan hugged back YumiShade, then just Nightshade as Yumi unequipped. "Oh?" Suzume chuckled out as she watched the separated children go to their respective 'parents'. "Does this mean that you too plan on going solo for the next battle?" Aya got a Cheshire Cat Grin and made some chuckling noises with her mouth closed. "I'd say that they want to fight the next battle adjacent to their 'parents'," she said. "What do you say there 'dad' and 'mom', think you could do a little 'parent-and-child' busting for the next one?"

Drago and Magi looked towards Aya somewhat flabergasted. Then they looked down at their charges with some concern. Then they looked up at each other, eyes locked, determination appearing on their faces, and then nodded. "Sure!" Drago said with a hand-squeeze on Nightshade's shoulder. "Very well," Magi stated as she held Yumi's hand. "We will show you all how it is done."

Assuming that Nightshade and Yumi didn't object, Drago and Magi would drag along their child towards the rockier cliff-side bluffs. Suzume and Aya smirked at each other and then followed suit.

[Requesting Battle 4.]
Nightshade of course would quickly hop up and onto Drago's back, letting his parent piggyback him around wherever he wanted. With only Aya and Suzume's old battle suit on he would be relatively light. Yumi instead followed Magistrate around, wondering if she would like if she merged with her. Fighting as one with his mom could prove to be auite the experience.

Moving on from the rescued spring, the group of hunters headed towards the rising slope of the cliffs, beginning to trek far above the beach. The climb was uneven at best, but wasn't any real problem for Nightshade or Yumi, and was even less of one for those who could fly when they wanted to. Even so, the pathway soon disappeared in favour of wild and broken shelves of rock that grew swiftly steeper.

It gave the group a fantastic look out over the sea far below, separated from the base of the cliffs by a broad band of white sand that started to look increasingly thin, the higher the cliff side took them. The breeze was stiffer, this high, and it grew chill and blustery, but the bright sun remained and the weather, on the whole, never drifted too far from pleasant.

Before long, however, they began to hear the strains of notes on the wind; at this distance they were only discordant and mildly unnerving, but as the group pushed on, they were clearly moving towards the source of the unsettling music. A new sight came into view as the climb softened and they approached the crest of the bluffs. Nestled in amongst the rocky crags, the shape of a large, pink and purple iridescent shell stood out from the brown rocks. the music, if it could be called such, was coming from the shell, and as they got a little closer, a peculiar sight.

The inside of the shell held a stage, with the mouth of it protected by a sturdy-looking crystalline covering. Inside, a single Tuby, dressed up in glitter and stars, was apparently performing something that could only loosely be called music. On the rocks surrounding the shell, multiple viruses seemed to be listening, bobbing in place to the notes; multiple Raingear perched on nearby crags of rock, while off in the air out beyond the cliff edge, a pair of Megalians shifted back and forth in time. On the landward side, two Powie viruses had edged up close and were now jumping up and down as well, though thankfully they weren't going so far as to slam the ground beneath them as they did – that might be problematic for the whole cliff side.

Above and behind the shell, a second, smaller pink crystalline structure seemed to be acting as a speaker, or an amplifier of some sort, projecting the music across the entire cliff area, and was probably the reason they had been able to hear it from so far off.

Seeing more figures on their way, the diva-tuby paused in its song, but then likely realised that he newcomers weren't more music fans. It blared a series of painfully discordant notes and the other groupies turned to look at the assembled band of virus-hunters.

"Since you four will be land-bound, we'll take the fliers," Suzume said as she and Aya spread their wings and took to the sky. Aya laughed as she started to fly. "We'll strike at the King on the next pass. Let's try to rack up some kills in the meantime!" Defenses formed around them as they flew towards the Megalian-As. As they approached the viruses they spun around each other, forming long, snaking contrails. When they got close, they broke off and headed toward a different Megalian. Suzume went after A while Aya went after B.

"We will handle the Powies," Magistrate says while pointing them out to DragonierMan, Nightshade, and Yumi. She then spoke to Yumi directly: "We need to make sure to defeat them at least THREE times before the battle ends. That way we can turn in the Bounty at the end of this bust with ten deletions." Magi took a moment to stick her hand into one of her pockets and search for something. "Ah, here we are," she said, satisfied that she found what she was looking for as she brought out a battlechip data packet and handed it to Yumi. If Yumi took the battlechip and activated it, she would notice that it was a CircleGun2Damage: 120 + Seeking

.

"As you are aware," Magi began. "Powies are a flying type, that is, until they turn into giant statues and fall on you. You have four shots, which should be plenty against those viruses. Take your time to dodge these brutes and fire when you believe you have a shot. I will be fighting right beside you, so do not think that you need to take on more than one at a time," Magi told Yumi.

"Now hold on, we are going to get a better angle," Magi said before she tried to place her hand on Yumi's shoulder as she activated her teleport signature. Using her Team Subtype's Passive Tag Along ability, she tried to teleport with Yumi to the grassy mid-left side area where the Powies were. Due to the nature of a Powie's attacks, they'd never suspect their opponents to come right to them. A quick disolve later and Magi, and probably Yumi as well, were set to ambush the Powies from right up close.

"I got an idea," Drago said to Nightshade as the younger navi sat on his shoulders. "I'm going to toss you up there on that high crag so you can get that Raingear while I take out his buddy. It's going to be a teleport so you can aim it how you want," he explained as he tried to channel his teleport signature into Nightshade. If Nightshade accepted the data transfer, he would be ready to teleport wherever he wanted to, including the high crag that was left of the shell where the Raingear A virus lay. "What do you think of that plan? Ready?" Drago asked as he attempted to pick up Nighty from his shoulders, spin around a little, and chuck the younger navi at Raingear A. Hopefully Nighty activated this free teleport and made the landing on the high crag, ready to attack Raingear A.

Meanwhile, Suzume and Aya were heading straight for the Megalians. They vanished just as they were almost on top of them. Slipping into the aether. When they reappeared, they were literally on top of them, hovering in the air right above their midsections. The twins quickly raised up a huge hammer a piece and brought them crashing down upon the enemy fliers like a pair of meteors. If they hit, the heavy mallets would crush through the Megalian's auras and body, and send their corpses careening into the ground.

Coming out of their own teleport, Magi immediately raises her defenses and tries to move out of the way of the line of fire. "Pick your target, I got the other one!" she called to Yumi as she readied her own power. She took a moment to let Yumi attack first, then launched an energy shell at the other Powie. The egg-white energy blast sailed through the air, attempting to strike the flying virus out of the sky.

"Take this!" Drago shouted out as his clawed gauntlets glowed with an awesome power. Sharp blades shot out and he swiped his massive bear-clawed hand at the Raingear on the lower crag. His heavy paw probably rent part of the hillside as well. Drago then looked up at Nighty above. "Show that virus whose boss!"

No sooner had the team started to gate crash the diva's performance, than the prima-tuby blasted forth an amplified note of piercing magnitude – it seemed to echo chamber inside the protected shell, before reverberating over the hillside from the raised funnel. The shriek was disorienting and brain-addling in strength and tray as some of the party might to block out the sound, or escape from it amidst short range teleports, they all nevertheless found it working into their minds and scattering immediate thoughts.

As it was, it took Aya and Suzume a moment to gather themselves as they rushed towards the megalians, while Magistrate and Yumi didn't quite land exactly where they'd planned, moving to meet the Powie viruses – though they were near enough. Yumi in particular seemed to spend a longer moment fascinated by the chip data she'd received from her proxy-mother than she did focusing on the viruses it was meant to be directed against.

Elsewhere, Drago prepared to help Nightshade reach some of their other foes. Before they could act, the lower down of the two raingear viruses blasted a column of water at the pair; both warriors were quick to dart aside, however, before they completed their manoeuvre and Nightshade landed directly in front of the higher one. It responded instantly, blasting a second powerful column of water up from under the navi's feet, and Nightshade was immediately set on the defence, dodging away from the attack.

The other viruses seemed to view this intruder as the most pressing threat to their diva, since Nightshade was now closest to the stage, and the two Megalians immediately launched their heads across the area, trying to drive him away. Nightshade was left to duck and jump, nimbly avoiding each assault in turn, though it wasn't giving the cat-boy much chance to mount a counter-offence yet.

Aya and Suzume quickly rectified their initial slow down by warping the last stretch of distance to their targets, while, across the field, Yumi and Magistrate had to deal with the assaults of aggravated Powies, annoyed at having their concert interrupted. the two viruses seemed to take more objection to Yumi than to Magistrate, though it could easily have been them trying to strike what they thought of as an easier target. The young SP didn't make it easy for them, however, and as the viruses crashed down near her, neither managed to connect a hit.

Her navigator was stuck in a similar position, having to dodge rapidly as another burst of water exploded beneath him, and a third; each missed as he moved away with an agile grace, but it certainly looked frantic. The Tuby was unsatisfied with the continued presence of the uninvited interlopers and blasted out a second chorus of broken and disorienting notes; it was enough to make anyone's vision swim with confusion, but this time, at least, Aya and Suzume managed to avoid the worst of the sound effect. They were busy executing their own plan, readying hammers; the two Megalians thought they were wise to the pair, weaving away from each of them, but the twins had fought these sorts of viruses before, and as each Megalian dodged what it thought was the hammer strike coming for it, they both moved right into the path of the other twin's blow instead, and the two viruses were crushed in perfect unison.

Yumi dodged another Powie attack, still struggling to find an opportunity to strike back, before Magistrate took the initiative and thinned the ranks, blasting one of them away, while across the field, Drago raked his claws against one of the Raingear viruses, cutting it apart.

Unfortunately, as the broken and ear-piercing music continued to play, the destroyed viruses seemed to animate again, crackles of energy pulling their broken parts back together in a rictus of viral life. None of the previously destroyed viruses looked quite as sturdy as they had before, but they were very much alive enough to return to the assault.

As confusion rocked the field, and plans fell apart, each individual did what they could. Thankfully, their combat training held through the adversity. And at the end of the first round of battle, the dragoniers all came out unscathed, with first blood on their hands.

All four of the older dragoniers immediately dumped their curative signatures upon themselves to clear up the mounting Confusion. The enemy was quick to capitalize on any weakness and the four dodged away from the enemies nearest them. DragonierMan reached into his pocket and pulled forth a tiny knight figurine. "I think we need a little help. Come forth Knight! Your Master needs you once more," he said as he chucked the model towards the grass where Magistrate and Yumi were fighting the Powies. A sudden cloud of steam shot out from cracks int he figurine, and a Swordy3 emerged from the smoke. It's blade gleaming in the strobe-light. "Knight, assist Magistrate and Yumi. Nightshade keep on your feet, I believe you can handle those Raingear on your own. Suzume, Aya, form on me. We're going for the boss!" he said as he turned to the enemy diva's position inside the Crystal Shell.

The knightly Swordy3 teleported over to the twin Powies and began to stab and slice at them with its shining sword. Now reinforced, Magistrate could go further on the offense. She raised both her hands up as a trio of electric orbs formed around her head like a halo. They spun around her before lancing off, directed by her fingers at the two Megalians and the Crystal Shell itself. Sure, a ThunderBeam3 attack wouldn't be strong enough to break the shell completely, but it would cause a lot of damage to it. She then drew her own sword and turned to the two Powies. They would pay for trying to harm her daughter.

Magi brought her own heavy sword into the battle, swinging it against the Powies like a bat against a piñata. The saber sung out a duet with the Swordy3's sparkling blade, hoping to carve sweeping melodies across the Powies' hides. As they beat upon the Powies, trying to get those last two bounty kills; Drago, Suzu, and Aya attacked the Tuby's position. Drago's free arm glowed and released a rocket-powered triple punch into the Blast Screen and beyond. The twins followed the shattering with diving wings and drawn swords. They set upon the Diva like the wrath of an angry god. Trying to tear it, and its protective home, to tiny pieces.

"Raingears, got it!" Nighty yelled out trying to overpower the deafening music. Well...it could not even be called music. More like, earwrenching screech noises. The feline navi thanked the fact he was wearing a helmet and suzume's/aya's old outfit. It seemed that it would help him with his sound problem. He just needed a minute to get himself in gear. Yumi was not that fortunate. Her super sensitive hearing had her paws to ears whining loudly behind Magimom. She wouldn't be able to do much like that.

Nighty instead got to work after getting his bearings straight again. He quickly hopped aroun, kept his defenses high and pounced at the two Raingear viruses with all his might. Well...at least try to flail at them. That music isn't really helping the situation...

Yumi 1: Yumi defense 1
Yumi 2: Dodge
With the whole party reeling from the amplified noise pollution, Drago and his team had to look towards clearing their own heads first, and couldn't spare and resources to cure Nightshade or Yumi immediately, but fortunately for everyone, the younger navi and his new SP were both able to push through the disorienting sound and distraction clearly enough to get their own defences up at least.

The Tuby didn't let up, continuing to blare its racket across the area, with the sound hammering out from the amplifier and driving itself into their minds over and over; it was so bad it was almost getting difficult to see straight now. The two Raingears seemed not to be hampered by the sound at all, and continued trying to blast the intruders with water columns; one tried to catch Yumi and Magistrate while they were close to each other, but both ladies managed to break to either side of the burst and avoid damage. Over the other side, Drago was also left to dodge away from the geyser that was summoned beneath him, no less nimble on the rocky ground than he usually was in the air.

As he summoned his trusty knight to assist them, the two Powies leapt up and crashed down, still trying to flatten Yumi and Magistrate; one missed Magi entirely but the other made its attack more cleanly, crashing down on Yumi while she struggled to regather her bearings under the discordant noise hampering her senses. fortunately, it its crushing weight was deflected by the young Sp's barrier, and she was spared any actual harm. A moment later, the Swordy warped across the field and attempted to skewer both of the soft-bodied viruses, though on its first strike it only managed to pierce one.

Magistrate let lose her potent thunderbeam once she had a moment clear to do so; it obliterated both Megalians for the second time, sending their fried pieces crashing down to the rocks. The third bolt grounded itself close to the large crystal shell, but didn't quite manage to connect with it cleanly. It would have to do, however; the Sword-knight swung again, but couldn't connect with the one remaining Powie, and Magistrate was forced to bear her own sword to the task of finishing the virus off.

While this was happening, Nightshade steadied himself and refocused, finding an opportunity to go on the attack at last; the noise was proving difficult to overcome and his vision was blurry from the force of it, but with care, he was able to line up and connect two slashes one after the other on his target Raingear. It was enough to cut it apart and put it down.

The rest of the team turned their focus now on the diva itself, and Drago led off with a rocket punch trio that broke through the protective screen and exposed the virus to attack. His other two fists shot by; one did some heavy damage to the giant shell itself, while the other went a little wide and struck rock. The remaining Raingear hurriedly tried to blast the dragonier and stop him, but the water geyser split around Drago's barrier and failed to interrupt his efforts. Following his lead, Aya and Suzume rushed in afterwards, swords ready, and between them were able to shatter apart the shell and stage, and finally silence the Tuby itself with a last, crumpled metal note. blissful silence reigned for a few moments.

In the brief lull that followed, Nightshade launched himself at the remaining virus, slashing with his claws, but his disorientation was a bit deceptive; the virus was far away other other side of the field, and in his confusion, the navi was only cutting at air. The Raingear, however, surveyed the scene and weighed up its odds, before hurriedly throwing itself off the cliff and into the ocean below to escape the slaughter.
