Monstrous Lessons

Asymptote had landed in a relatively unoccupied and quiet part of Electown, the streets fairly empty of buildings as he began to take his first few steps into the network, his electrical cables beginning to move about on their own, sensing...something ahead, pointing themselves towards the open roads as he began to trek his way into the network, students watching his every move from fairly high above.

(Battle 1, Buff/Debuff, 190 HP)
The odd sensation drawing Asymptote on led him by the cables for only a short handful of seconds, before he turned onto a main thoroughfare of the electown net and found it broadly bisected by a thick strip of magnet panels that seemed strangely out of place for the rest of the setting – it looked almost like someone had dragged a thick paintbrush across the network, leaving a strip of magnet behind it, regardless of what was there before.

In the space, a handful of viruses seemed to be dithering, but most perked up towards the new arrival as he came onto the scene. Close to hand, a Momogra was poking up out of a small patch of solar panels, to his left, while beyond it, straight ahead, a single Elebee was hovering over the odd strip of magnets.

Further back, two more viruses were inspecting an odd looking metal cage, suspended at the top of an angular, geometric rise of metal. One looked like an average Metool, but it was wearing a mask with a gun muzzle worked into the front, while the other was a Drixol, that seemed to be weighing up poking the cage, before Asymptote showed up.

The cage itself seethed with electricity, so that would probably be a bad idea for it anyway. There was a glowing crystal inside the electrified cage, though, so one might be able to understand the attraction. At the base of the rise, a small plinth bore a large metal lever, the end of held an almost cartoonishly red round ball handle. The lever was sparking badly – part of the plinth had been covered over by magnet panels.

Momogras move by tunneling through the ground. They poke their heads up just far enough from time to time to see where the enemy is, but they are still protected from most forms of attack. Drop attacks, Bomb attacks (which fall out of the air after being thrown), and Ground attacks damage them in this state. Other attacks executed from a high angle/altitude also work. All movements performed by a Momogra are considered a dodge, as they occur underground, and out of sight. Momogras only attack in response to having an attack launched in their direction, and only if they have an action remaining for that turn. Momogras attack by instantly tunneling to the panel behind the enemy, popping out of the ground, and striking with a shovel. A Momogra is completely vulnerable to any form of attack during its own atack, and until it moves again following that attack. The movement prior to the attack does not require an action, but movement afterwards does. The attack cannot execute if the panel behind the target is a liquid terrain type, Metal, Broken, or Missing. The attack also will not execute if there is something currently occupying the panel they would be attacking from. If the attack cannot execute, the Momogra will not move. In the case of Glass and Cracked terrain, the Momogras will still attempt to attack, but suffer the consequences of doing do as those panels will break and damage the Momogra, also causing the attack to fail. Momogra get 1 free movement per turn at the start of the turn before their first action.

(Whooops forgot I still had a Billy bounty. Oh well, not a major issue)

Asymptote lumbered forwards as he continued towards the force that his cables pointed towards, he'd soon find himself in a rough field, panels of each type that Electown could produce, as well as a bevy of viruses that could either evade or block attacks if Asymptote was unlucky enough with his attacks...Asymptote let out a heavy sigh as the gears began to turn in his head, trying to figure out the best course of action to keep being relatively un-skewered from the viruses attacks. Alright kids. Look at this field. Any non-Elec elemental navi would have trouble dealing with this kind of field, not a lot of breathing room to deal with attacks, and worse yet there is a bevy of panels that would otherwise hamper their movements. A good way to deal with such things...would be to take up defensive measures and delete the opposition as you went along. Thankfully, I'm obviously as electrically charged as any navi. Joseph, please send me the Elecbeam and Guard. Asymptote would speak, his gravely voice booming about the classroom in the real world, prompting Joseph to turn down the volume just a tad as he would quickly slot in the chips that was requested of him.

Just as the data hit Asymptote's body, his back generator began to churn, illuminating a soft green as it lit a little of the area behind him in it's warm glow. Asymptote let out a groan, clutching his stomach as he began to process the guard chip, his body letting out a shudder here and there as he began to produce a shield made out of reflective materials to his side, arching his back as he finished, a loud groan escaping his metallic mouth as it dropped to the floor with a soft clatter. His pair of electrical cords quickly picking it up right afterwards and snaking their way atop his back, a soft hiss of electrical energy discharging from the tips as they began to "weld" the shield to his back in an attempt to keep the reflective shield in place for when Asymptote would be attacked, a bright green glow reflecting off the generator as his signatures began to take effect.

Right afterwards, ignoring the stinging and burning pain from his welded shield, Asymptote began to lumber across the battlefield in an attempt to get onto a proper attacking position as his body did it's best to move fast, tripping over his own feet as he tried to move into the circle of solar panels opposite of the Momogora as it hid, he knew full well what it was capable of. Now, watch and be amazed as I set up a combination attack! He shouted out, coming to a stop from a roll, thunder clouds beginning to congregate together above the field, mostly above where the Elebee would be precariously positioned at.

By using my signature... Asymptote began, clouds growing darker and darker as a rumble of electrical power began to reverberate across the field, a loud crackle and bolt of lightning from the blue, the bolt landing across the ground and changing whatever it was before...into a shiny new metal panel. I can change the terrain... He continued on, more bolts from the blue landing across the field in a random order as he continued to call down their power, more and more reflective, conductive metal being created in Asymptote's wake before the storm subsided, a bevy of new panels in the wake of the lightning he had called down. I can take advantage...

He would continue on as his fingertips began to crackle loudly with lightning, his form fluidly moving as he stepped forwards, his hands swinging through the air. Fingers pointed outwards as his thumb tucked it's self behind his palm, he would slowly step forward, generator beginning to crackle ever louder as he continued to generate a small field of electrical energy around him. Of the newly changed panel's properties! He shouted out, his fingers exploding with energy towards his foes, splitting off into three separate entities, his eyes glowing bright green as he began to shift the three bolts of lightning towards their targets, mainly attempting to rid the field of the NeoMetool, Drixol, the two probably thinking they had been ignored by the brutish monstrosity, as well as the Elebee that he had dropped the galvanizing lightning on and around, seeing the three of them the biggest targets for him to remove.

With a whole collection of foes to demonstrate on, Asymptote painfully elected to instruct the students about the importance of defence before starting any kind of assault. The viruses arrayed in the area in front of him didn't seem to take much stock in this particular lesson, but the battle itself would hopefully reveal the wiser course.

As soon as the transformed navi began to move, the bee darted towards him, stinger extended. By a fluke of chance, however, the normally precision-accurate virus misjudged how quickly the strange and ungainly navi actually moved, and missed its mark by a narrow margin. The Drixol also dashed in his direction and missed by a wider margin, though this was probably less surprising, given the drill-virus' usual drill-first aim-later attitude towards attacking.

Once he was properly positioned, Asymptote changed the field and removed a large part of the magnetic strip. The storm spread out converting more and more panels, though it didn't quite manage to catch up with the length of the Drixol's overshoot. While he was occupied channelling the storm's energy down into the panels, the smaller virus in the group – the little mask-wearing Metool, took the opportunity to shoot a large black bullet from the the muzzle on its mask. It had more luck than the first two attackers, though it regretted it a moment later; the black orb struck Asymtptote's shield and bounced off, falling harmlessly to the tiles with a clank, while the reflective shield triggered and blasted back a far more brutal bolt of electricity down the trajectory zapping the hapless virus to a smoking, steaming edge of existence.

This exchange was all the time Asymptote himself needed to finally make his own counter attack. the seeking bolts that burst from his charged finger tips darted across the field arcing and homing in on his three primary targets with flawless accuracy. The Drixol took a bad hit as it came to the end of its first attack run, but clung on. The other two weren't so fortunate and were removed from the net in electrical blasts of light.

The momogra that had been watching this exchange from its hiding place weighed its options, but the sudden shift to metal panelling seemed to set it off side and instead of fleeing the scene of destruction, it waddled over to the edge of the metal and burrowed back down into the normal panels just beyond, before popping up to whistle and thump its paw on the ground vigorously several times.

For a moment nothing happened, then, after another second, a new patch of ground burst open, admitting a new virus that was seemingly coming to answer the call of a fight. This one burst out of the ground and landed neatly with a metal clank, two metal prongs on its arms clicking together and dragging a line of sparks with them as the Billy prepared to attack.

Asymptote grunted loudly as he managed to avoid damage, not to mention get rid of most the targets he intended to remove from the fight. Though what surprised him the most was the Billy appearing out of absolutely nowhere...a late entry to the fight for slaughter? He mentally shrugged it off as things continued along, noticing the mole and sparkster near enough together that...yes...he could potentially combo his way against them considering how the Momogora was typically an underground entity...maybe he could bait it out? But before he could think about it, he noticed the Drixol next to him, it had been damaged heavily against his last attack, if he was quick he could take it out now before it could follow up...he'd leave himself open to both Billy and Momogora...but if that was the case...it was potentially worth it to clean up the rest of the field.

ColdPunch and both our bombs, Joseph. Please hurry. Asymptote spoke simply and quickly, his requested chips coming to him in a rapid succession of clicks from his PET. He was going to be quick about this, no finesse, no bull. Quickly moving his arms up in an arc, Asymptote's arms began to morph, transform as the temperature above him decreased by a good fifty plus degrees, snow and droplets beginning to fall down as he lumbered over towards the Drixol, towering over the virus by a fair margin. No words were spoken by the bio-mechanical monster as he dropped his fists down upon the virus near him. A burst of cold wind radiating outwards from the hammerarm he dropped, a tiny patch of ice and snow where he had struck as it began to melt into the ground, leaving behind little trace of where Asymptote had struck his blow.

Turning around and turning his head towards the two viruses near one another, a pair bombs began to materialize in either hand. One a spiky, grey and electrically charged explosive with a black hues checkered across the rounded explosive, the other a simple rounded bomb with a blue hue and a couple white lines etched across it's smaller surface. He'd begin to turn the two around between his fingers, giving the two viruses a look at what he had in his hands, eyes glowing a bright green as Asymptote began to run his calculations with surprising swiftness, trying to give both bombs an "optimal" trajectory he could throw them in, catch both viruses in the blast radius. Lines and degrees flashing across his eyes as he reared back his arms, clutching the first bomb between his fingers like a baseball. And with a thrust of his arm...the bomb didn't leave his fingers...instead, he tried to fake his pitch before bringing his thumb under it like a marble and...flicking it upwards in an arc with enough force to try and make the distance, the sparking bomb landing with an explosion of shrapnel and electrical energy, discharging energy, explosive power and spikes all around the blast radius, normal panels beginning to crack and give under the explosive energy of Asymptote's Cracker bomb. And as the dust cleared from the field around the Billy and Momogora, Asymptote would take a second to aim towards the Momogora's hole and chuck his minibomb in an arc to try and catch it before it could move again, turn it into a bunch of itty bitty pieces. The bomb landed with a thud, exploding in spectacular fashion despite it's tiny spherical container. All the while, electrical sparks began to jump around Asymptote's monsterous body, searching out for any tiny cut or bruise it could cauterize back into shape.

Asymptote tried to react quickly to crash the damaged Drixol before it could get away from him, but even as he brought the frost, the hulking navi was just a hair too slow – the virus disappeared into a warp portal just before his attack connected. It came shooting back at him from another direction, but still didn't manage to connect, leaving it hovering just a short way beyond him once more, this time on the other side.

That mutual failure aside, Asymptote turned his attention to the other two. the Billy reacted quickly to his fake out – lured into attacking before it had assessed the situation properly, however despite the sudden, hurried release of an attack from its prongs, the ball of electricity still managed to find its mark, smacking into Asymptote and sending small, disagreeing electrical currents through his body.

The real bomb still managed to sail more or less true, and the Billy, having just fired, had nowhere to run or hide from the explosion that destroyed it. The mole virus, however, darted below the surface rapidly tunnelling away from the blast, only to pop up behind Asymptote and attempt to clang him around the back of the head with its shovel. Despite the tempting back angle, however, the virus swung wide and missed. Asymptote responded in the only sensible way, and had the near proximity now to ram the remaining explosive he had into the exposed virus and obliterate it soundly.

Only the Drixol was left now, though the after shocks of the billy's attacks were causing some awkward discomfort to the navi as he was left to face the final target.

Asymptote grunted as he was hit by the Billy...his plan to delete it and the mole, though not as HE would of had it, but regardless, the battle was won!...right?...no sadly not, the Drixol had managed to move and evade his attack and in turn it had managed to miss the mammoth Asymptote himself. He was fine with this. He was completely fine with attacks managing to miss him. The DRIXOL, on the other hand, it surviving his hammer smash on it's drill shaped head was not something he was fine with. So, why not play to his anger and give the kids watching this a laugh.

Closing his eyes, electrical sparks began to jump across his body, inhaling deeply as he tried and failed to compose himself, opening them again as he had a bright green glow in his eyes, mixing very superficially with the red hues in his eyes. His electrical currents began to jump off of him, across the field before finding purchase with the Drixol's attacking systems, a simple matter of his Debuff ability attacking the Drixol where it hurt the most. It's ability to hurt Asymptote temporarily disabled, the giant navi began to lumber forwards at the Drixol, slow stomps against the ground growing as he went from a simple lumber...into a full on run headlong towards the Drixol's form. His arms reaching out towards the unfortunate virus, he lunged towards it in a mad fury, attempting to wrap his fingers around it's body and begin to mercilessly shake the poor, poor unfortunate virus wildly back and forth, too and fro, shake the virus' loose change and bugfrags loose from it's physical form so he could at the very least feel better about his slow, lumbering form for missing it earlier. Needless to say, the effect was most likely NOT what Asymptote had intended and was...far, far more graphic than he had intended. He didn't seem to care as much as both Student and Operator watched on with a mix of emotions from their safe classroom.

The last elusive target enraged Asymptote as it proved difficult to pin down. After shaking off the uncomfortable stun, he charged the virus, attempting to grab it and squeeze it for all it was worth, but the slippery drill zipped past his first grab in comical fashion. Its own attack missed as well, doing all that it could to avoid the hulking navi's crushing fists, but even that didn't save it for too much longer. Eventually, Asymptote was able to lay his mitts on its form properly, and what had been intended as a rough shaking became a screeching of rent metal and broken drill mechanics as he crushed the virus into a crumpled mess of data.

After a moment to calm down, the teacher-navi was left alone on the cleared field with his rewards – scatterings of junk and valuable data – and the odd data crystal in a cage set up to ponder.

Elebee viruses move and dodge at a high rate of speed, and they are fully flight capable. Elebee viruses attack by flying at their target at high speed, and delivering an electric sting. This type of virus may opt to stop short of the target, and veer sharply in a new direction to avoid an attack. This requires the expenditure of a second action, but occurs very rapidly regardless. Movement and attacking are one and the same with regards to this virus, thus physical contact with them causes damage. Elebees can see through Invis.

Asymptote let out a sigh as he sat down on the ground with a thud, net letting out a light quake as he disengaged his combat protocols. He had gotten a bit...worked up at the end of that. That was clear to him...he would slowly rise back up as the students began to talk about that fight, some positive comments, some negative, but a lot of "That was cool!" so...he was doing something right at least? With a shrug of his broad shoulders, the navi began to gather up his rewards. A good chunk of zenny, a few bug fragments...and a chip? That was surprising.

And that is typically how fights go, kids. You delete every virus in the general vicinity, and if your navi survives, they drop junk data that if you're..."level" five or above by the GNA standards, you can collect fragments of junk data along with the usable Zenny data and sometimes viruses can drop chips along with everything else. Also, some of you have probably noticed the green crystal not far away. That, students, is Mystery Data. They contain chips, zenny or Bugfragments...but they come with a bit of a caveat. Once upon a time, we had Unlockers. More valuable datas have different colors, Green is the basest form and the least valuable, and did not need such to obtain them. These days, their properties are gone, but another security threat looms within. Asymptote began to explain, his voice...growing darker as he spat out the following. Mimics. They are viruses that most new navis can't kill on their own. He spat, eyeing the MD atop the metal rise, beginning to lumber towards it. They hide within Mystery Datas and exist only to make you fight for your spoils. But...there is a way around their existence. Joe, we have any untraps? He continued, ending with his question, Joseph immediately slotting in the subchip and data flowing to Asymptote. He finished his walk towards the cage, his hand crashing through the cage, sending metal clattering to the floor as he grabbed the MD in the cage, pulling it out with a single hand, setting it in front of him as he began to unlock and apply the untrap to the MD, Joseph meanwhile swapping chips out of his active folder for the new one.

(Untrap MD and access, Swap out MaruBlaster1 for Arrow1)
The Untrap program began its work on the Mystery Data crystal, seeping into it as it was decrypted. However, it seemed that it was free of traps, and split open without issue. Housed within was a small data orb containing some battlechip data.

Asymptote would pluck the chip data out of the crystal between his fingers, a little annoyed he wasted an untrap on the data when it wasn't trapped to begin with. But he shrugged and sighed, sending the data towards Joseph before beginning to lumber towards the next fight, body tingling with excitement.

(Battle 2, Billy bounty, Shotgun out and Crackerbomb in folder)
Asymptote's travels brought him through a metal-lined side path. He found some odd char marks scattered through the paths as he walked by, though they didn't seem to do anything more to the structure, other than slightly singe the well-built pathways. They seemed more frequent as he progressed, but as he turned a last corner, a flash of lightning crackled overhead, barely missing the top of his very tall body. Further ahead, he saw a circular dead end. In the middle of the dead end, a pair of towering pillars stood, tapering into spherical tops, with a series of coils around the top half. Both of them were crackling powerfully with extremely high-voltage arcs across each other. Behind the left tower, Asymptote spotted a familiar revolving green crystal, but what was more worthy of attention was what sat between them. A glowing circle of solar panels housed a pair of viruses -- a Billy standing behind a Scarecrow, with the Billy's arms pointed skyward at the two towers. Electricity fired from its arms towards the pillars, causing twin thunderbolts to erupt forth towards Asymptote.

Thankfully, it seemed like the Billy's aim wasn't very good, and the bolts crashed on the ground behind him instead. A pair of squeaky yelps from behind him revealed that two Larks had been tailing him from afar, perhaps trying to corner him into the dead end. From behind one of the towers, an Eleball also hovered into view, following a thin outline around the circular solar panel area. The Billy didn't seem to be deterred from its miss, however, and began to charge up its attack again!

-- Battle 2 Ready? Start!! --
Asymptote would continue along the metallic rises, turning his corner into a dead end...with a very unwelcoming group of viruses...a Billy, one of those Scarecrows he had heard about joy, and an Eleball. Though he raised a hand to his haired head scratching it like the brute he was, confused. Sensing two more viruses in the vicinity...but where are they? He asked aloud as Joseph peered down to his PET, two blips showing up a little ways away from Asymptote. Behind you, Asymptote! Two of those "Lark" viruses by the looks of the HP totals. Joseph would call out, almost forgetting he was teaching today...but regardless, the students had a full on look of the field. Mostly Metal with a single ring of Normal and the inner circle being full of electrically charged panels of Solar. It would be a bit harder than before...but after the last fight, his students didn't have a worry about their teacher and his navi.

Alright then...those fish are gonna fry. Lets make them extra crispy, Joe, ThunderBeam and Cornshot! I'm gonna be as aggressive on this on as I can! Asymptote shouted, his voice booming across the field as he stared down the viruses in front of him. Joseph sighed and shook his head, he was still teaching, but Asymptote needed to calm down a little bit...but regardless, he slotted the two chips into his PET and sent them to his navi. Asymptote would hear the clicks and feel the data rush into his body, a mighty roar coming from his pneumatic mouth as electricity wrapped around his body, rivulets of energy swiftly dripping across his body as his cables began to charge to life, generator letting out a loud grinding noise as pieces of cable began to drop from his body and magnetically reattaching to parts of his body, metal and rubber melting upon contact with a loud hiss. An armor of black and sliver beginning to form across his body to offer both protection and insulation from his attackers with a healthy sheen, a metallic rubber suit soon covering his body from shoulder to toe made of the melted metal and rubber, a light squeak and rattle coming from Asymptote with every move he made. That...looks RIDICULOUS, Asymptote. the teacher-operator commented as his navi flexed, every contour of his body showing up like a molding. Don't hate me because I can pull this off! Asymptote replied with a goofy grin on his metal clad face. THAT'S THE ISSUE, YOU LUG!

Right after, ignoring his operator's misgivings with his pulling off the makeshift armor, three lengths of cable dropped from his back, lifelessly dropping onto the metal panels and a loud thunk reverberating cross the field as the electrical generation finished and his generator slowing down to a light hum, green hue beginning to pump through the biomechanical monster's body as he began to make quick calculations across the field, the two larks behind him being an annoyance, he began to channel electrical energy through his body again, bolts on his neck striking two of the lengths in a flash, causing them to float upwards above his head, electrical aura brightly shimmering around them. The two lengths of electrical snakes now as two prongs materialized at the "heads" of both, turning to the larks with a green glint in his eyes, he motioned his arm towards the viruses, sending the lengths of wire at the floating fishies. The wires hissing loudly as they would swiftly move through the air towards their designated targets, several thousand bolts of electricity moving through both of their bodies and with a crackle and hiss would attempt to crash against the fish's bodies to send those thousands of volts through their entire bodies...and combining their aquatic nature with the conductive panels beneath them...the results could find themselves blackened and burned beyond anything they would have hoped for. But then he looked down at the third length real quick...nothing happened for a second before he zapped it with another, even stronger, bolt of lightning as it turned into a copy of the two wires before it, excepting an even brighter aura, turning towards the floating menace known as an Eleball, he would target it and send the hissing wire-snake towards the mobile menace, a shower of sparks igniting upon it's impact with the virus or floor.

Turning his body back to the Scarecrow and Billy, Asymptote figured a headon rush towards the two would be the best bet, his body letting out even louder squeaks than before, his feet stomping heavily against the burnt panels he traveled across. His body hastily making a move towards either side of the field so he could be out of the line of fire and somewhat behind one of those Tesla coils. He had enough coverage to fire, so downloading another chip, a two handed cannon would materialize in Asymptote's hands...a...cob-shaped mortar? He shrugged it off, his fingers on the trigger as he aimed from the top of the barrel, he took aim towards the immobile Scarecrow, took a moment to adjust for trajectory...and fired. A loud FOOMP as he fired, a small corn shaped grenade flying through the air towards the virus, popping all the while as it self-heated through the air, kernels beginning to expand and lose color before impact, a blast of energy upon the floor as it likely cracked the solar paneling beneath where it had exploded on. Meanwhile, a surprise kernel of popcorn would blast it's way out of the explosion, regardless of where it had landed, and reached upwards in an arc as it targeted the Billy behind the Scarecrow...and attempted to land dead center on the Billy's body, eliciting another, albeit smaller explosion in the process.

Asymptote's first reaction upon taking in the dangerous-seeming cul-de-sac was to get fancy, more or less. As he formed his new armour, however, the Scarecrow called down a lightning bolt of its own and channelled it outwards towards him. By luck, the rubbery casing just managed to seal up as the bolt hit him, arcing in a blistering charge that coursed over his form and down through the panels under his feet. The smell of melting rubber intensified as the new layer of protection was bubbled away again almost instantly, although it had certainly done its job.

Behind him, Asymptote heard a worried bubbling sound as the two Larks frantically swerved aside to avoid the piercing lightning blast as it carried on through Asymptote and back down the path. The pair seemed quite shocked. This ambush wasn't going as expected at all.

The Billy finished charging up and launched another pair of bolts up to the Tesla coils nearby. The streams arced out and down again, striking towards Asymptote, but one of them blasted into the panels in front of him. The other connected while he prepared his own attack, a shuddering zap that stung more than it ought to have as his body conducted the current downward.

Seeing its chance, the Eleball rushed forward toward the hulking navi, but Asymptote was quicker; his three charged cables lashed out, skewering both Larks before they could react further, and pinning down the swift ball of energy in a shower of sparks that removed it from the net. Not slowing down, the navi began to run, lumbering in closer to deliver the odd-looking mortar round to both the Billy and the Scarecrow, while they were recovering from their own attacks. The initial thump of the blast gave way to the faint scent of popcorn and an otherwise cleared field.

Open GMD?
Asymptote breathed a sigh of relief, his body slightly singed from the attacks, his armor scattered across the field from the Scarecrow's attack. The burning smell of extra burned fish and melted rubber filling the air making him wish for the ability to turn off his ability to smell, waving his hand in front of his face to waft the air away from his senses. But he began to absorb the zenny and bugfrag data from the field, he lumbered his way over towards the GMD he had glanced at while running to re-position himself, reaching around the tesla coil and picking up the GMD. Thinking for a moment if he wanted to open this and risk a Mimic...he sighed and shook his head. He didn't want to use the last of their untraps just yet and decided to take the chance, beginning to send data through the crystalline data chest and attempted to open it up without untrapping it.

(Open GMD without untrap)
After obliterating the battlefield of all viruses in a single swoop, Asymptote approached the emerald data crystal, debating on whether he wanted to risk it without an Untrap program. In the end, he decided to throw caution to the wind, and began decrypting it... after which it split open into four, revealing a sizable cache of zenny!

[GMD: 2500z]
Asymptote breathed a sigh of relief, grabbing the zenny in his hand and downloading it to Joseph. The gamble paid off, not that he wouldn't have been able to handle whatever a Mimic could dish out, he was just annoyed of them near constantly appearing in his first handful of battles. Turning around to leave the dead end field and lumbered off towards another field of battle. He knew he had a lot to show, and he hoped his students were taking notes and talking about how to better themselves.

(Battle 3, 170 HP, Billy Bounty)
Pondering his current good fortune, as compared to her earlier streak, Asymptote wandered on through the network, eventually arriving at an odd section that looked to be part open park and part art installation. The ground was mostly flat and smooth, solid metal, but ahead of him a graceful glass bridge rose in an arch, crossing over the stylised etching of a river. In the space where the river was drawn, a handful of glowing solar lily pads were scattered about. It didn't seem to serve any purpose, and there wasn't much to stop Asymptote from simply walking on through – the river wasn't real, and was just marked onto the expanse of metal panels.

Well, there were few things that might impede him slightly. On one lily pad, another Billy virus was clicking its prongs together and generating sparks as it watched him approach. On the other side, a complicated looking satellite was resting on another of the solar pads, and began to light up and activate at the navi's approach. Atop the centre of the curving glass bridge, a windbox was blowing across ways to the bride, and seemed to be generating a constant gentle drifting swirl of pink petals in the air – along with an uncharacteristically staunch breeze.

At the foot of the bridge, directly in front of Asymptote, two Progs waited, dressed up mostly like attendants, however, one was missing an eye, and an ear, and it sparked violently. The other had lost an arm, and its body twitched back and forth in small, jerky shudders. A third prog seemed to be huddled under the bridge, hunched on itself and peeking out – it also showed signs of damage.

“WELCOME!” One barked at him, raising its good arm. Sparks crackled. “NAVIS ARE ADVISED THAT THEY ARE — VIRUSES IN THE AREA!!” It moved towards him slightly, reaching forward with its arm as more sparks grew. The other prog twitched and a gout of sparks shot up from a joint at its neck.

“ALL — VIRUS ACTIVITY — IS PERMITTED TO — ASSIST NAVIGATORS VISITING THE FEATURE!” Sparks and crackles broke up its speech, distorting whatever the original message had been. “PLEASE BE — DELETED TO ENSURE SAFETY OF — VIRUSES IN THE AREA!!” It also began to move towards Asymptote in a dangerously helpful manner.

Area: Netopia, Sharo, NAXA

HP: 100
Primary Attack Damage/Effect: Trap(Enemy in Targeting Cursor) + Seeking: Movement (High-Alt) + Dodge + Lock-On + Nullify Invis
Primary Attack Accuracy: C
Primary Attack Description: Generates a targeting cursor that sweeps back and forth across the field, looking for a target. The cursor ignores decoys, objects, illusions, and invisibility. If the cursor intersects with an actual enemy, Lock-On is achieved, and the virus launches itself into the sky at High Altitude.
Secondary Attack Attack Damage/Effect: (3 Null + Seeking + Enhanced Accuracy) x 10 Shots
Secondary Attack Attack Accuracy: A
Secondary Attack Attack Description: When Lock-On is achieved, this virus fires a barrage of 10 highly accurate shots at its chosen target before landing in its original position. Accuracy debuffs on the Satellite while using this attack are reduced in severity by one rank.
Element: Null
Possible Rewards (Per Virus): Lock-On1, Zenny
Special: Immobile outside of its primary attack.
Special: This virus will repeat its primary attack until it finds a target, after which it will be able to use its secondary attack once. When it changes targets, either of its own volition or its current target's death, or uses its Secondary Attack and lands in its original position, it must repeat its primary attack until it finds a new target.
Notes: Triggering invisibility or an illusion, or moving the Satellite forcefully after Lock-On is achieved does not allow a target to escape Lock-On. Lock-On is a shift in the Satellite's state, not a status inflicted on its target, and thus cannot be removed.

Attack Description: Causes a large scale gale of wind to blow across the entire field in the direction the virus is facing. This gale will constantly move all targets this virus considers to be enemies in the direction the wind is blowing, which makes it difficult to land many kinds of attacks on it and allied viruses, such as thrown attacks and close ranged attacks. All those affected by the wind will also have their barriers and auras blown off by a constant Northwind effect.
Element: None
Possible Rewards (Per Virus): Wind, Zenny
Special: Causes short ranged attacks, such as (but not limited to) swords, melee attacks, and flame thrower style weapons, to suffer from a 30% accuracy penalty against targets they are being pushed away from. Both sides of the engagement suffer a 30% accuracy penalty with direct attacks perpendicular to the direction of the wind, and all thrown attacks.
Special: Those allied with this virus may opt to take advantage of the wind to increase movement speed or evasion by going with the wind. They do not suffer any penalties, however. Conversely, anyone may move along with the wind to increase accuracy by 10% for close ranged attacks, assuming the target is in that direction.

-=Battle 3, Start!=-
Asymptote walked onto the glass bridge, feeling solid enough for even his body to sustain. A few steps up the bridge...a strong breeze...no, it was more than that. It was actively beginning to push him back as he approached, a Windbox virus right at the middle of the bridge, several damaged and virus-like programs beginning to approach him from either side, a billy clacking it's prongs on a pad of solar panels...and a satellite...it was pointing it's guns right at him, and he didn't like it. Those programs continued to make their approach, he instinctively began to back away...he wanted to get away, retreat to a safe distance and fight back from afar...but with the wind blowing into his face, he realized real quickly that would not be a viable way to fight back. The wind would knock his attacks back, out of the air, even into him if he didn't aim correctly...then a spark of intelligence connected in his mind for a brief moment.

Joseph, RemoteBit. I have an idea to remove that Windbox. Asymptote spoke, simply looking at the field in front of him, if he couldn't attack it from the front and likely the sides, then he'd go above the Windbox and attack it where it couldn't turn. He'd have to stay on the defensive for a few moments, probably get out of the way for a few moments...but he could at least get rid of the Windbox and make cleaning up a bit easier to deal with.

With a click, Asymptote received the data and he slammed his fist down on the glass bridge, spider-web like cracks across the surface of the glass as it reflected back into Asymptote. A bright light beginning to shine across the panel he had struck, before long a small control panel began to grow out of and around the surrounding panels in front of Asymptote...with a small, scarred Twisty virus in the middle of it, beginning to push buttons, pull leavers and most importantly...summoning a UFO next to it. The small patchwork toy beginning to hover up and above the glass panels it had been summoned upon, slowly rising to a respectable height as it zipped away for a moment, looking to get into a proper area to attack from. All the while, Asymptote had taken off from his position, he wanted to get out of the way for what was about to happen, and locking eyes with one of the nearby "Lilly Pads" across the river of metal panels, Asymptote would do his best to rush his massive body towards it, he didn't need to stay long, thankfully, but he wanted a line of sight with the Satellite virus.

Whilst Asymptote had moved, the Twisty had began it's plan to assault the Windbox virus from up high, as Asymptote mentally transferred co-ordinates to it's screens and panels, as well as an extra helping of power that had been stored up for just such an occasion. The little Twisty would work against those nobs and leavers, sending the transferred power to it's weapon, it began to float above the Windbox, a small shadow over the top of the wind blowing menace as the toy UFO would pull out a small spike and two conductors from either side of it's body. Charging up it's attack, the UFO's spike grew increasingly bright as electrical energy transferred to it, falling down from the skies as it attempted to impale the virus from above, a secondary electrical shock rocketing through the spike down beneath the panel.

Alright Joseph, I want our Fire+20 and Guard1, the kids are gonna know how a Variable navi can work! Asymptote spoke again, getting his chips as Joseph began to speak to his students. Asymptote, closing his eyes and opening his mouth, he began to channel the power of the supportive chip into his mouth, turning towards the Satellite that idled atop another lillypad nearby. A fire burning within his mouth, he hawked out a large ball of fire and electricity in it's direction. Which, upon it's likely connection with the virus, a strong EMP-like pulse would rocket through it's entire form, likely completely disabling the virus' ability to fight back against the monstrous navi and his summoned help. And right after, standing his ground firm, he summoned a shield upon his arm, an electrical pulse beginning to conduct through the strong Met-Metal, ready for counterattack.

Seeing that the art installation was clearly not very well-attended at the moment, Asymptote started to retreat from the collection of viruses to try to fight them off from afar, but the blustering winds from the WindBox made him rethink his strategy. His body patched itself up as he came upon an idea. (+15) Taking the one angle that the WindBox couldn't turn to, he summoned the RemoteBit by smashing his fist into the glass paneling. A spiky-haired Twisty rose from the cracks, and it summoned a small UFO and directed it towards Asymptote's primary target, while the hulking Navi himself relocated to one of the faux lilypads that spread throughout the area. Two of the Progs near him immediately sparked with a small ring of electrical arcs around their bodies as he passed.

"PLEASE BE WARY OF — MOVEMENT."
"DO — PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES."

One of them grazed its faulty discharge against his arm as he passed (-20). Fortunately, he managed to avoid the other's electrical mayhem with his quick movement, which also allowed him to skirt by the scanning laser that the Satellite had begun to put out. Meanwhile, the Twisty that he had summoned earlier received its orders from its master to fire down on the WindBox. The electrical strike impaled the fan virus with impunity, shattering the glass paneling underneath. Underneath the bridge, a Prog that seemed to have been hiding vibrated erratically as it was showered with stray glass shards.

"P-P-PLEASE REFRAIN FROM VANDAL — VANDAL — VIRUSES."

However, it didn't seem to be doing much at the moment to pursue Asymptote himself. Bright yellow electrical sparks began to snake across its dark green body, as if it was overflowing with energy. Another virus from the other end of the bridge didn't seem to have much qualms in that matter, however, as it charged up a Thunderball between its pronged limbs. Meanwhile, Asymptote was focusing more on a Satellite on his end of the bridge, firing a burst of heat and sparks towards it. The attack connected, but it didn't seem to affect the virus with any kind of damage. Instead, a long belt of ammunition started to spill out of its side, rolling onto the glowing lily pad that it was sitting on, most likely disabling its ability to deal any damage henceforth. Afterwards, the Thunderball that the Billy was charging was complete, and rolled towards Asymptote at a snail's pace. In fact, it was so slow that it seemed to have missed his position entirely on the first pass, but was slowly turning back towards him.

They appear mostly as normal Mr. Progs, but their face is much more darkly colored, and have glowing white eyes, as well as missing their left arm. They attack by emitting static around themselves. While they are fairly strong attackers, especially in groups, they have poor endurance, which is only exacerbated by the fact their attacks harm themselves. They very rarely dodge, but will often try to move close to the enemy before attacking.

WindBoxWindBox (Wind & Fan)

All viruses in this family are immobile during combat, with the exception of being able to turn to face any direction it wishes. Later versions of this virus may switch between Wind and Fan effects, which requires one action, during which time all wind or fan effects cease. Bonuses and penalties do not stack if multiples of the same virus family exist on the field. Wind and Fan do not push or pull Objects, only creatures.

Area: SciLab, Yoka, Beach, Sharo, Netfrica, Hades Isle

HP: 100
Attack Damage/Effect: Wind Effect, Northwind
Attack Accuracy: S
Special: Northwind effect to all enemies once per virus action while maintaining wind effect.
