Hare Raising Magic

Jazz sighed as he got out of...that...for the moment. Good thing he had a new sword to use for the blood collection...whether he let Anathema help him with the -other thing- he was still a little apprehensive about, but...well...if she was willing. But he did give her a playful smirk at the pun, he couldn't help himself at that point, letting out a chuckle. Stephine shrugged at the refusal to her offer, but she wasn't too peturbed. Anathema could probably use some HP parts or something down the line, but...eh. Whatever worked for her.

Wait...tentacles? Jesus has the net gone THAT far back in the last thirty-some years that viruses are using tentacles as weapons? I mean the meta-viruses are definitely new, but...

They used to have Tentacle chips a few years back as a gag chip to fight with, but...they've long since been discontinued. Though the Metas are definitely not natural in any case. It wouldn't surprise me if some NEETs in their mother's basements fucked with Virus data to see what they could make and just threw them out onto the net to multiply and reproduce.

I...what...how...you know what, I don't think I need to know. There's too many mysteries on this net as is and I don't know if I want to uncover some of them.

Resigned to the...peculiarities of the networks he had missed for a good twenty-some years, Jazz rubbed his soaked temples. Alright then...I suppose we should get going and prepare mentally for...whatever comes out I suppose. Lets head out Ana, maybe I'll get lucky and find something that won't try to rape and kill us. Jazz spoke, un-enthusiastically as he began to plod slowly through the icy marsh created by the jellyfish virus into whatever was next.

(Battle 5, 160 HP)
"Tentacles! You know, those long, muscular arm-like thingys on some animals! ...Come to think of it, I feel like I've heard of a virus with something like that. Or maybe it was just something similar...eh, same dif to me." Seemed like Jazz didn't share her enthusiasm, though, so she decided to change the subject. "Metas...not natural? Honestly, I feel like the jellyfish one, at least in theory, could be. The green one, though, there is absolutely no way that thing wasn't created in a lab somewhere. I actually feel a little bad for it...most viruses are into destruction and all, but it's like with that one, it's incapable of not doing that."

"It's pitiable, but that just makes it even more important to destroy 'em when they pop up. They're definitely a bigger threat than most."

"Right. Don't get me wrong, I'll tear them up and enjoy it. But it's sad for something to be alive, yet completely devoid of heart."

"Yeah. I won't argue that."

With that, it seemed like the rabbit Navi was ready to go. "Right! Whatever we run into, it's as good as dead! ...Although, what if we found something that wanted to rape us, but not kill us...?"

"I'm fairly sure it's not rape if you actively want it."

"Will you quit being a spoilsport?!" But it probably would just be something that'd try to kill them, so Anathema started to psyche herself for battle as she floated inches over the frigid water.

(Ready for Battle #5)
With the clearing thoroughly cleared, the two navis moved on amidst a questionable discussion of dubious consent and the nature of viral tendencies. Thankfully, the frigid water didn't seem inclined to spread too far beyond the edges of the trees and once they passed the line at the edge of the cleared space they swift found fresh, soft grass beneath their feet, or in anathema's case, a few inches below them.

The air was warm, between the moderately dense forest trees, almost a touch humid, and the ground, for those walking upon it, felt more like a vivacious moss than regular grass. Small mushrooms began to appear here and there amongst the undergrowth, of many different colours, shapes and varieties, but for the next few minutes while they searched, nothing immediately jumped out at the pair. The air did grow a bit stickier; it was still warm, but there was a clear, condensation-inducing, moist feeling to the atmosphere, along with the scent of... something plant-like, certainly.

A soft hiss of sound to their right might draw attention first, then another. A sound something like a tiny giggle followed each hiss, though if they inspected, the sounds seemed to come from many different places around them. They weren't creature hisses... more like a release of gas, or pollen.

It was only as they explored a little further that the duo noticed a much larger shape move subtly between the trees. At first it was easy to mistake for just another tree, and the gloomy half-light crated by the dense wood and forest canopy didn't help... But as they looked and moved closer, a faint shimmer that had previously been disguising the entity seemed to drop away, or else they passed through it – it was hard to tell. What they could see, however, looked like a very, very large mushroom. Its main stem was a light tan brown that looked deeply rooted in the mossy ground around it and a plethora of smaller mushrooms sprouted up all around it, fanning out in every direction. The cap was broad, easily eight feet from the ground and stretching out at least four from the central stalk; it bore faint purple spots across the top, but two large ones looked much more like eyes structures that were closed gently for the time being. On either side of the main stalk, two long vine-like growths dangled down. Towards the end the split into six or seven smaller tips, which waved back and forth in a slow, sedate pattern. The other feature of note was a display across the front of the mushroom's stalk, at about eye height for an average navigator. It had some text printed out on it, with action cycles working away in the background.

MushyGerminas Status: Green
Network: Okuden
Mushy Parameters: Maintain Virus Population Bracket [ V > 1/18 <-> V < 1/20 ]
Current Mushy Saturation: Red: Too Low [V < 1/18 ]
Mushy Germination Process: Active

Whatever that meant, the giant mushroom pulses and bobbed slowly, but every few moments, like a gentle sigh, a small shower of spores released from it and coalesced into what looked to all seeming like a brand new Mushy virus, near its roots. Each time, the virus puffed out a cloud of its own spores, giggled, and teleported out of sight.

It didn't seem particularly hostile to them, but after a moment of this passive behaviour, the two eyes at the top of its cap opened slowly and the read-out on the screen wiped to one side, with a second box overlaying it.

Unregistered Navigators detected inside perception screen. Self defence and navigator ejection module activating.

The eyes looked sleepy but as they opened a thick, bark-ish texture crept across the surface of the mushroom's flesh and it two 'arms', if that's what they were, lifted up and extended in snaking coils to point towards the pair, its tendril-like fingers curling and writhing as it... made vaguely shooing gestures at them.

Jazz would close his eyes as they continued forward for a moment, he could feel the heavy air starting to surround him and Anathema. The two of them had walked into...well, it was hard to say. Seemed to be more a "greenhouse" than anything else, the dampness beneath his feet as they began to step...into...moss? Definitely something that was absorbing liquid, soft and spongy. And then he opened his eyes. That's a giant mushy virus, isn't it? Jazz asked Stephine blatantly as he read off the action cycles on the screen in front of them. Eeeeeeyup. If I had her number, I'd send a message to Prose. Ana. I'd step back a bit. We're gonna be fig- Jazz and Stephine spoke, before the log quickly changed to all but saying "Gonna fuck you up, navis". Jazz proceeded to then notice the...*ahem* "Appendages" on the MushGerminas.bus.

Ana. Remind me to beat your ass later for mentioning tentacles, I think whatever god is watching us was taking note of your kinks. Anyways. Expect it to start spawning Mushy viruses, Ana, I found similar virus down in Yoka once. These things are basically spawners for their respective viral species. Where the hell is a mechanics expert when you need one? Jazz spoke again without a hint of trepidation or flirtatiousness in his voice. Actually...want me to activate Prose's Cross? Might be useful to help target it's weak points. Might be able to shut it down before long. You know what? Go for it. Send the UnderGuard and MachineGun as well. I have an idea.

As soon as those words were spoken, chip data was sent down into Jazz's body. Inhaling deeply, Jazz would hold his hands out. Summoning what looked to be an...Uzi? A small handheld gun dropped into his hands, the navi chuckling to himself as he loaded in a new clip to the weapon, twirling the small gun around one of his fingers before bringing the stock to his shoulder and took aim at the virus. Not a fan of yer casing there, big boy. Lets just...see about getting rid of it. Try some AP ammo! Jazz would shout before depressing the trigger with one of his fingers and with a ratta tat tat, the navi began to shoot out a veritable hail of heavier bullets towards the giant virus, his body doing it's best to hold back against the recoil of the weapon, but even then the gun would jerk left and right, up and down as it shot it's load. A ringing of shell casings dropping upon the squishy ground as light flashed across both navis eyes, the mycylium absorbing the heat without a second thought as he finished up the magazine of bullets, bullet marks across the area as he dropped the weapon onto the ground, shattering to a million tiny pieces of junk data. He was unsure if he managed to strip away it's defensive casing, but regardless, the weapon was spent and gone.

With a few button presses on her PET, Stephine would give Jazz access to his crosses. With an inhale and exhale, Jazz would begin the processes. His body being wrapped around in a green hued light, the navi temporarily disappeared from the field, before long, he would return not long after however. His body wearing what could only be called "Mechanic's Casual" a whifebeater shirt would bear it's self across his chest, obvious oil stains soaked into it in various spots with varying amounts, a sleeveless jacket hanging over it and his shoulders with a pair of tiny black bat-like wings poking out of the brown jacket, the rabbit now wearing actual overalls that looked to be several sizes too big for him, an obvious crack towards the top of his rear end showing by the sagging overalls just below his tail and finally...a red pompom spouting from the top of his head for a good several inches before drooping down behind him. The rabbit cracking his knuckles as his body finished transforming, handwraps around his hands as he readied himself to fight some more.

Alright Ana, gonna try and flank it so we can hit it from two sides, just be ready to move. He spoke afterwards, sending a piece of data towards his ally. As soon as it was taken into her systems, defenses would begin to surge through her body, sending a protective "candy" coating across her chest, gently coating her in a flimsy, but slippery coating that, barring say, tentacles "piercing" her, would at least weaken the blows of the virus' attacks.

Inhaling deeply again, Jazz began to feel his processors kick into overdrive. He knew full well what to do and began to step on the ground in a rhythm that was invisible to all but him, legs going up and down (as did his pants to give Anathema a better peek at his bare, tut rear), he would work them into a frenzy to the point he began to move faster than ever, his legs a veritable press on the ground as they stomped the wetness in and out of the mycilum under his feet. And before long, he moved...and moved...and moved past the MushGerminas.Bus, going blisteringly fast as he moved in a straight line past it to the point he began to leave behind afterimages in his wake, along with a streak of energy trailing behind him. And right as he stopped, he turned around and using his abilities, began to try and cartwheel back towards the MushGerminas so he could get closer to it, gods knew with his hands and feet, he was going to need to close the distance and act as a target dummy for it.

And so, the duo moved from water to grass, and then grass to...grassish stuff. Some mushrooms started to pop up here and there, and while Anathema took a moment to check some of them out, none of them seemed particularly good for her work. "Phew...no wonder these mushrooms are growing here. It's so hot and humid, almost like we stumbled into Yumland's net." It also had the effect of making sure that her soaked dress didn't dry off a bit, thus ensuring that the exact shape of her breasts was known to anyone and everyone the pair encountered.

She had no time to ogle herself, however, as a sound drew her attention. "Hmm? What was that?" It was a hissing noise, but it wasn't exactly a snake or anything. More like some sort of pressurized gas leak. And...was that a giggle? Something seemed pretty suspicious about that...

The suspicion only grew as they drew nearer, until they found...a gigantic mushroom? Er, scratch that, a giant...Mushy? "Mushy...Germinas. Parameters, 'Maintain Virus Population Bracket'. Mushy Saturation, blah blah blah..." She looked up, noting the spores forming new Mushy viruses. Well, THAT was interesting. "Wow. So you mean this thing m-" But before the witch Navi could make any conclusions, a new message came up, that was...less than friendly towards them. It hardened up, and activated its arms. Its long, narrow, freely adjustable arms..."You know, if you just asked nicely instead of this 'Navigator ejection' stuff, I might've just left. Possibly after pestering you to do unspeakable things to me with those arms, but other than that, I'd be fine with leaving you alone. But if you're going to be rude, so be it."

Jazz didn't seem happy, but his words didn't really convey that to her very well. "First off, I'll remind you right after the battle! Though, if there's a god that'll give me tentacles on command, I might have to become religious. Second, I figured as much, based on that initial window. I wish it wasn't so actively hostile...some Navis would love to research that virus generation. Me included."

"That'd be pretty handy with some viruses, but Mushy seems kinda limiting."

"That's what chips like GrassStage are for! And then, you have an army of surprisingly mobile, dehabilitating viruses!"

"Fair enough, but there's not much we can do now besides fight it. ...I mean, I guess we COULD try tracking down whoever's giving out permissions for getting close to this thing without triggering it, but that seems like a huge pain."

"Yeah, probably moreso than it's worth, honestly...so, how do we fight a giant mushroom?"

"Don't worry, I actually have an idea. See how the area around you is kinda mossy?"

"Yeah, it's been like that."

"I think it's safe to say that it's caused by the giant Mushy. But, and this is merely speculation...what if it's gotten dependent on the adjacent fungus? Preventing it contact with that might weaken it."

"Hmm...it's possible. Though it's also possible it'll work just fine without it..."

"I think it's worth finding out." And it just so happened that they had a chip that didn't require landing an attack to make that happen. Though, this was probably the only time they'd bother with it. "BattleChip, GlassSeed! Slot in!"

A small crystal orb appeared in Anathema's hands, who took a look at it and grimaced. "Eww. I get why we're using it, but...this isn't my kind of chip, you know?" She ended up proving this by rearing back, and throwing it forward with all her might...but managed to only get it into a slow lob that would barely reach what she was going for; the area right in front of the virus generator. Upon landing, the area would spread out, shifting from old moss to a more modern appearance. "I feel like I pulled something from that..."

"Look, I know I'm not one to talk, but that was sad. 'Makes me look like a triathlete' sad."

"...I don't have to say anything to that. I just have to wait for the next time a set of stairs winds you. I'm betting on the MetroLine stairs you have to take when you head back." A green light drew the witch Navi's attention before she could discuss any further plans with her operator. A quick scan showed that it was a cross. Ooh, maybe he was using one of her!...That plan came to a screeching halt as it faded, and it was clear that Jazz wasn't even remotely resembling her. "Huh? ...You're using someone else's cross? That's kinda disappointing..."

"Don't worry, you can be a good friend and use his cross. It's actually important for my plan."

"All right...hopefully it's a lot cooler looking than that!" A few button presses later, a similar green light covered her, though if one looked hard enough, one could see Anathema's nude  (but featureless) outline. It faded after a moment, to reveal...that many, many cyberbunnies died to provide her with crossed attire. It was little more than a fur bikini with armbands and fur boots, with a bunny ear hooded cloak over her. "Well! Fur feels quite a bit different on me. So does underwear-like clothing."

"Is it at least comfortable? I could see that being kinda comfortable."

"Yeah, it is. It's just different...ahh!"

"What's wrong?"

The probably still a witch Navi noticed that she was now covered in not one, but two different layers of protection. A soft, green light was engulfed by a harsher, brown light. That it wasn't how it had previously formed on her almost made it look as though it was preventing anyone from missing what her cross looked like. "Oh, nothing, I just hadn't noticed this protection until now. It's sweet of Jazz to help me out like this, but sometimes it's more fun to go without it, you know?"

"Anyway...now for the next phase. If it's like what it spawns, that thing burns easily. And glass panels can be more easily shattered with certain kinds of moves. For instance, ground-based attacks."

"Also, crushing moves! Just like in the real world, overwhelming physical force works wonders on glass."

"Right. And I looked at JazzCross's effects when I had a moment...one of its abilities is the ability to apply said force from any kind of attack."

"Neat! I think I know what you're going to send now...go ahead!"

"We're on the same wavelength for once? Good!" A chip featuring a VolGear was inserted. "BattleChip, FlameLine! Slot in!"

Indeed, Anathema had anticipated the chip, and a flame formed in-between her waiting hands. "Don't get too close to it, Jazz! Incoming!" She quickly let it drop onto the ground, and for a moment, nothing seemed to come of it. But the fire energy simply needed to go underground, to experience the earth around it before rising with full force. If anyone could've seen it travel, the fire would appear to be going in a U-shape, going fairly deep at high speed before doing a 180 and rushing back up to the surface. As it rose, it split into three distinct pieces, forming a straight line as they reached the ground, and erupted from below, as though a small volcano. There was something different from her previous use of it, though...just as Alda had stated it as an effect of the cross, the flames seemed more forceful, capable of crushing metal-hard surfaces...the tempered glass was designed to be weaker from below, and it might not be able to withstand a blast like that. The resulting shattering would send glass shards all around the immediate area, shredding what they touched. Like certain giant mushrooms...

Still, with Jazz drawing near the virus, she didn't want to press her attack, and risk harming her ally. At this point, she'd settle for quick floating away from things trying to harm her. Even the tentacles...even the tentacles.

The subtle shooing motions from the massive mushroom grew more vigorous while Jazz and Anathema discussed briefly what to do about it; it clearly wanted them to leave its little perception-filtered haven, but between the two navigators the conclusion appeared to be that threats of forceful removal were just not cricket. It waved its tendril-like arms at them, trying to look fearsome, and Jazz answered with an armour-shattering machine-gun burst right to its squishy-looking, if currently protected middle. the attack ripped through the hardened bark layer with ease, beginning to blow small chunks and pock-marks into the mushroom's body and making the odd creature jerk upright while its tentacle-arms spasmed and curled up in response.

Anathema, meanwhile, began to enact a more thoughtful plan, shifting a large portion of the surrounding ground into smooth glass. The giant mushroom looked downward and quivered, though what sort of response that was was difficult to read. It compressed on itself for a moment, causing a small scatter of spores to drift from its cap, and then, with another hiss and a giggle, a fresh mushy appeared beside Jazz and gleefully expelled a cloud of stunning pollen. It giggled again then warped to the edge of the clearing, watching the battle and bobbing attentively to itself. Jazz would feel himself reel from the pollen cloud; though it hadn't managed to collapse his protective barrier, the spores were still getting to him.

The navis next attempted to activate a variety of cross forms, while the mushy-maker seemed increasingly unhappy with the glass beneath its base. It leaned forward, mostly focused on anathema and her new fluffy costume, and extended one long set of sinuous tentacle fingers. They reached forward and curled bout her without touching, the tips of each extension waving as it examined her from toe to head. The motion seemed inquisitive more than hostile, and the tip of the central extension hovered right in front of the dubiously-motivated woman's face wile the others hovered just a little back.

Before Anathema could decide whether to open her mouth or do something else, however, the tips of the tentacles all expelled a sudden and violent stream of high-pressure pollen spores that washed over her and past, blowing along the way to Jazz as well. It was enough to make one cough and splutter; Anathema took the worst of it, Her protective stripped off and more damage besides settling in. Jazz only had to deal with a lesser amount of the spreading spores, and he was already moving quickly; it was still enough to dissipate the remainder of his barrier, and sting a little besides, but not nearly as much as Anathema had taken right to the face.

Whether she appreciated it or not, Jazz had the answer, and provided his busting partner with more protection, before taking up a new position behind the massive mushroom. While this was going on, however, the Mushy seemed to finally be fed up with the glass under it and it stretched, then squashed itself down, then rose to its regular height again. As it did, a rush of growth followed, spreading fresh fungal mycelium in a small circle around it and filtering down through the ground to sink back into the earth. Much of the surrounding area was still glass, with anathema's terrain change being much larger, but as it got its stem comfy again, the mushroom's bark-like covering spread all the way up its body again. It bobbed, drawing in energy.

Anathema might have lost her opportunity for a perfect concurrence, but she was still able to enact the better part of her plan, to whit, bathing the woody monster in a world of fire. Her flame attack roared across the glass panels, shattering them as it went, then rolled over the mushroom itself. The mycelium beneath it burned away to scorched ground again, and it wriggled and writhed in the flames. When the fire cleared it was left on a blackened island of earth surrounded by the deep shattered pits caused by the broken glass. The scent of cooking mushrooms filled the air, and the creature didn't look happy.

It levelled both of its tentacle arms towards anathema again, this time pointing all eight of its tendril tips towards her in unison, and released a dramatic spray spore material. Unfortunately for the slightly singed mushroom, Anathema's underguard withstood the assault, with no single part of the stream of bits being able to punch through with enough damage to hurt her. From the edge of the clearing, the baby mushroom made a sound rather like a blown raspberry at anathema; apparently it thought she was cheating.

Jazz had the luck of being mostly unscathed by the attack that had managed to catch against him...unfortunately, a sort of tinglyness began to seep through as he moved. He was unable to purge it from his systems, his legs beginning to randomly lock up in a rather painful manner, buckling under him as well as letting out a slight spasm from his paralysis. He also had the unfortunate notice that...he was standing on glass. She had done quite the number on it, and gods knew that the smell of fried mushrooms made him hungry. But beside the mouth watering scent from the singed mushroom, Jazz was unsure what to do next. But all he knew for sure? Knock it out and maybe he could...I dunno, make some "repairs" to the thing. Though it seemed like it was functioning perfectly unlike the PuffyForge he fought a while ago. Regardless. Jazz summoned a barrier around Ana and a casing around himself while he was behind the MushyGerminas. Grunting to himself as he worked the paralysis out of his systems finally, Jazz stood tall...and quickly made a break from it.

The rabbit making sure to move out of the Melee range of the Mushy, he was quickly second guessing himself as he even thought getting up close to a tentacled terror like that was a good idea in the first place. But regardless, he beat his feet, the rabbit's paws finding a nice cushion of Mycilium underneath instead of the cold and breakable glass he had been underneath in the first place. But now, he received chips...and there was an oddball of the bunch. With a shrug, Jazz would shout out. Keep yer distance, Ana! Those spores are no joke. Keep on the move! Jazz shouted out from some distance away from the Mushy creator, his hands soon filled with a viscous fluid. A liquid metal that began to move around his hands randomly across his furred palms, slithering about before finally resting in his hands like a ball of mercury. Tossing the ball towards the MushyGerminas, Jazz began to contort the metal into a familiar shape: A large weight, a dumbell to be precise. The weaponized weight landing towards the side of the Germinas, it began to fly across the ground slowly, attempting to ram into the soft creature like a bulldozer through so much fluff. All the while, Anathema could feel her pulse quicken, her body starting to grow faster as Jazz imbued her with his own borrowed speed.

Afterwards, Jazz summoned the second chip he was given: Firebomb1 summoned to his hands as a gasoline filled bottle, a tuft of cloth soaked in the grey looking fluids poking out of the top of the glass bottle slowly moving back and forth as he hefted the bottle above his head, the cloth spontaneously catching aflame as he reared his arm back. Alright! Lets see how much of a crispy flambe we can make this mushroom! He shouted out, throwing the bottle into the air. The flames slowly engulfing the scrap of cloth as it made impact, a firey explosion engulfing the area upon it's impact, shards of super heated glass exploding outwards from the blast area, flames firing around as cinders began to form, the fires dying out. Jazz made his time well, his feet on the soft mycilium as he began to run a clockwise circle around the virus they were against, an attempt to evade it's spores and other attacks that would likely come his way.

...Hmm? Once JazzCross was activated, Anathema found herself the focus of the giant mushroom's attention. She froze as she became surrounded by the extremely long fingers, her mind immediately going in certain dirty directions. Before she could try to persuade her foe to go in that direction, however, she took a good amount of spores to the upper half of the body, causing her to burst out coughing from inhaling them. It took a moment for her to regain her composure, or at least what passed for it as she stared at the fungus, furious as she pointed at it. "That is NOT the way I want to get blasted in the face with millions of potential lifeforms! You are SO dead!" As before, an aura surrounded her, though this time it was dark green instead of black.

She proceeded to burn the mushroom, though it didn't quite sate her desire for revenge. "Alda! I need tools of vengeance!"

"And you're going to get them. And since now there are some nice holes around it, the conditions are perfect for these." 'These' being those lovely chips with Nightmare and Darkmare on them. ...Or was it Nightmare and Blackmare? Nightmare and Knightmare...? ...Nightmare and something. She was a biochemist, not a virus expert. "BattleChip, SummonBlack! Double slot in!"

Before she could attack, the witch Navi could hear her ally shouting words of caution, but she simply shook her head. "No way! The faster this disintegrates into rewards in front of my eyes, the better!" Taking small amounts of her aura into her hands, she shot them forward, each slowing down and sinking into the hole, one to each side of the villainous fungus. Shortly thereafter, two Nightmare viruses rose up...or at least they appeared to be. The bodies of both were a shade of dark green identical to the energy covering Anathema, making it difficult to determine which was which...though upon looking closely, they weren't identical, as one had a green aura around its sword arm. This one seemed to have more initiative, as without hesitation, it reared back, and slashed with devastating power. Even if it had managed to reform its defense from earlier, the mushroom would find it as effective as covering itself in butter, as the aura intensified and shattered it with little issue.

The second Nightmare, however, seemed to give Jazz some courtesy, content to let him pull off his attacks first. First the weight, then the blazing bomb...it had little to fear from such moves, thanks to its shadowy body. But once they were over, it struck, raising its sword arm above its head, and took its chance to cut down the mushroom by the stalk. If anyone was looking closely, it was slightly less powerful than the first, establishing that the Blackmare had gone first, while the Nightmare had been more patient.

"I doubt you'll mind, but I say we press the offensive even more. Shred it with this! BattleChip, AirStorm! Slot in!"

"But of course! Jazz, since you're running around, make sure you're not in front of me while I do this!" Ignoring the fact she had attacked via minions with razor sharp arms for such a purpose, Anathema raised her arms to approximately head level, and started to focus. As soon as she did, a strong wind began to blow from behind the Mushy generator. It pulled at it hard, but she had no illusions of uprooting it, instead harnessing the wind, and forming a trio of miniature green tornadoes. Once they'd built strength, each made a mad dash for the gigantic mushroom, with the sole purpose of tearing it up through wind power.

Once her whirlwinds had served their purpose, the crossed witch Navi looked on at the location of their foe; if it still existed in that spot, she'd be upset. That said, something felt different..."That's odd. My body feels light. Even lighter than usual."

"The PET says some sort of power came over to you from Jazz. That's probably i...t...er..." Alda suddenly looked away from her PET, blushing slightly as she gazed over at a random tree with an annoyed expression.

"Hmm? What's up, Alda?"

"Oh, it's...no, you should probably know. Look down."

"All right." And so she did...noting that the position of her fur bikini top had slid down quite a bit, exposing her breasts to all happening to watch the battle. "Oh, I hadn't noticed. Hi, girls!"

"Can you just...adjust your top? I don't want you doing anything weird in the heat of battle."

"Relax, I'm not going to do anything right now..." At least one Navi would be displeased by fur once more blocking indecent exposure. Jazz probably wouldn't be thrilled, either. "It's fixed. Happy?"

"I can look at you again without flinching, so yes."

"You'd think I would've noticed when that happened...when did it happen, I wonder? The spore attack? Maybe I got a little carried away when forming the tornadoes?"

"Well, it's fixed now. That's the important thing."

"Yeah. I can always take it off later if I want, anyway!" With this in mind, she prepared to avoid potential incoming attacks. Though, aside from it being so fast it nearly looked like she was teleporting, it wasn't much different from the usual floating method she used. Her attacks seldom required movement on her part, so the spot where she was hovering was fine by her.

Despite some small hitches, it felt like the pair of navigators had the previously passive mushroom-making myconoid badly battered and burned; their next goal seemed to be chopping it into chunks. It turned its slow-moving gaze back and forth as Anathema summoned a pair of dark figures from the damage holes to either side of it while jazz fought off his daze and cleared out of its immediate vicinity.

Across the field, the little mushroom spectator still seemed to think that Anathema wasn't playing fair, and it waved its tiny hands at her, blowing a much smaller cloud of spores in her direction. The witch was able to avoid the attack, but in the mean time, Jazz fell victim to a fresh surprise. Just as he was moving away from the seemingly well-rooted mushroom, it gave a particularly pronounced bob in place, and warped quite suddenly. The first swing from Anathema's summoned creatures cut only air as it vanished, and reappeared directly in front of Jazz, billowing a broad cloud of brain-addling fungal dust over him, and towards the other navi as well. While Jazz wasn't able to get away from the sudden choking cloud, Anathema was at least far enough away to avoid it.

Still struggling with the disorienting effect for a brief moment, Jazz attempted to direct his first crushing attack towards the mushroom's new location, only to have it warp a second time, right back to where it had started. As it arrived, its bark-like armour casing regrew across its softer flesh, but it seemed slower, and its bobbing seemed a little bit more like panting than before; it probably couldn't do that particular trick very often. The brief moment was enough for Jazz to toss his more conflagratory in its direction, before the distracting confusion of the spores set in; the crude molotov burst with a bright flare, charring away the freshly formed bark and leaving the soft flesh beneath pitted with embers that would continue to burn.

With its target thus exposed to it, Anathema's second summon sliced viciously into the mushroom's stem, cutting deeply and drawing a flow of mushroom juice, and a brief crackle of sparks and broken data fragments from the cut. The mushroom pulled down on itself, shying away from the blade while it spread more of its favoured mycelium layering across the soil beneath it; the broken segments had filled in as well, it seemed, though the fungal layer hadn't spread out to the flat ring just yet. As the creature cowered, however, a softer shedding of spores drifted from its gills and covered it, settling into some of the cuts and tears, patching over some of the nastier burns, and, perhaps disappointingly to Jazz, pushed out all of the remaining embers from its flesh.

It slowly lifted itself back up to its normal standing height, just as anathema made a more direct attack of her own, coaxing up a wind storm and tearing at it with a set of rapid tornadoes, two of the three seemed to do it some substantial damage, more than undoing the small amount of regeneration it had managed; the creature looked severely beat up at this stage, and it couldn't have much stamina left. It lifted its arms towards Anathema as the winds died down, each of its long tendrils waving in her direction. This time, however, rather than spraying her with spores or other plant shrapnel, the vine-like feelers darted out with lightning speed. Despite her best reactions, (or maybe she wasn't trying too hard?), she was swiftly ensnared. Several slim yet surprisingly strong limbs twisted their way around her arms, starting at the wrists and spiralling inwards to her shoulders. About a foot of each tendril was left over, waving loosely in front of her torso, so that had some potential. Several more of the tentacle-like arms encircled her waist and middle, in a more supportive way, and if she hadn't already been hovering, Anathema could feel that they would likely have lifted her from the ground; as it was she elevated a few more inches outside of her own control.

The remaining feelers restrained her legs as well, although, perhaps disappointing to someone of anathema's disposition, they began at the tops of her thighs and coiled their way down towards her ankles, rather than in the other direction. Regardless of how she felt about that particular feature, however, the navi was swiftly drawn in very close to the mushroom creature's trunk, where she could smell the slightly cooked mushroom scent up close and strong in all its rich, earthy tones. It was unfortunately delicious, as far as scents went, for anyone who was fond of mushrooms. This close, she could see its screen again more clearly, and the readout on it:

Whatever that may mean to her, Anathema could feel the tendrils coiled about her writhing somewhat as the creature struggled to continue its functions. It wouldn't take too much to finish it off, most likely.

Shake Weight: ??? [Controlled by Jazz, 1 Turn]
Jazz, coughing as he had got his attacks off, felt the spores begin to cloud his vision and similarly, his mind...addled to no end. He coudn't help himself as began to laugh out like...well, a hyena would be the first thing that came to mind as he cackled into the air. He could hardly contain himself, a swirl beginning to form up above his head to indicate the "ailment" had stuck to his programming for some reason. Josephine tapping away at her PET screen frantically as she began to try and snap him out of it on her end to absolutely no avail, the rabbit getting on all fours and beginning to hop about, prancing around the area as much as he could, and...making mooing sounds? The confusion hit him hard it seemed as Josephine continued to tap about at her PET, looking at the "ailment" of confusion.

"Afflicted has a chance of being unable to do anything, may act irrationally or may turn against any allied busting partners if inflicted with this ailment. Operator is advised to not send chips to the afflicted navi during this time, lest they hurt themselves or others. Most navis have instincts on par with humans to prevent themselves from acting offensively or defensively under this condition." She read off to herself, the netop sighing to herself as she watched her navi prance about, running to and fro like an animal of the loosest description, somehow those overalls not falling down to reveal anything -too- unsightly...though Anathema might have managed to get a view of the tut bunny's ass as he ran about, hopping around the area without any real purpose. She rubbed her temples, vowing to make Jazz have a way to cure statuses such as this on himself or others after everything was said and done. So without any real other options, opened up a two-way connection in the general facility. "Hey, Ana? Stephine here, Jazz's op. He's confused as hell right now, though I think he's actively trying not to hurt himself or you...kinda hard to tell..." She paused, inhaling. "Just...hope he doesn't get tagged again. I'd send him something, but...I'm more afraid he'd cause you to EJO than actually help for the moment."

As her wind storm concluded, Anathema was mildly displeased at the giant mushroom still standing before her. It wasn't dead for the sake of sweet, sweet loot, and it wasn't even grabbing her with those tentacle-like fingers. Surely it could do better...hmm? Really? It was trying that attack again? "Really, you haven't figured out I can see how that works? Guess I shouldn't have expected much from a giant mushroom. I'll just take about a step back, and-ack!" But this time, instead of spores, she got exactly what she wanted, as she found herself restrained by its long, vine-like limbs. "Oh, yay! I was wondering when you'd do this!...And hoping I'd be the one to get it! That's right, you wanna feel me. If you want my advice, it be would be to start wrapping around your nice, long tentacles around my big, voluptuous breasts, curling around until you find my nipples and-"

"Will you PLEASE stop getting turned on and focus?!"

"I'm sorry if this is incredibly hot! Although I wish the ones around my legs were switched up so they were moving up, and not down..." She found herself being dragged in close to the creature, which was giving off a surprisingly pleasant aroma. "Mmm, I can smell fried mushrooms! Maybe I'll make some later..." Hmm? Looked like that screen was close enough to read again. Status red, yep. Too damaged to make more Mushy, she could see that. Ooh, 'Crisis Logging Actions'. Contact administration? If she was less restrained, she might see if she could hack that to see who ran this thing...though that wasn't exactly her specialty. Restrain hostile elements...big check there. Although, now she was starting to wonder...what would happen if she was still stuck when it was shut down? Would she be stuck as well? That seemed...less than pleasant. "Okay, I've changed my mind. I want down now!"

"I can arrange that."

"Great!"

"Though, fair warning to me...you're totally pleasuring yourself to this after we get back home, aren't you?"

"You'll be lucky if I wait until we're home."

"So go home and don't look at my PET for a good while. Honestly, a good bath would be nice after crawling around here..."

"You know, the idea of you taking a nice, soapy bath is just making this even hotter."

"Trust me, ANY idea right now is going to make you hotter..." The question was, what would even work? With Anathema restrained the way she was, it wouldn't be easy to use chips, since she couldn't really use her hands to direct or anything...actually, wait. There were chips that didn't need that sort of guidance, weren't there? That would do nicely. "This should work fine, since it doesn't actually require any direct Navi involvement. BattleChip, AuraHead! Slot in!"

A Megalian-A formed above the witch Navi, though strangely lacking its trademark aura. It spent a moment gazing upon the giant mushroom virus, before lining itself up with it while not being simultaneously lined up with its allied Navis, and launching its head forward like a missile. Its rocket headbutt would not be stopped, only wavering slightly upon impact as it kept going. After it eventually ran out of steam, the head reformed on the floating virus, which then proceeded to vanish.

The non-Navi assisted assault, however, wasn't over. "Luckily, we've got more where that came from. BattleChip, SideBamboo! Slot in!"

A cluster of bamboo formed off to the side, next to the MushGerminas, immediately looking out of place amongst all the fungus. Not helping was the odd green aura surrounding it, and the grass separating in the middle to let a menacing face peek out from the shadows. It let out a big smile and appeared to cackle, though strangely no sound was made, before a spear of sharpened bamboo stabbed forth, held by a pair of skinny, shadowy arms. It seemed stronger than normal, with an extra sharp and sturdy point. Sadly for the hungry, there would be no chance for mushroom kebobs, as once the attack was finished extending, the Kilby quickly vanished, just like the earlier virus.

Anathema watched the attacks, shaking her head slightly after it was done. "For as much as you want me to get my mind out of the gutter, you're both giving a virus head, and thrusting wood inside it. It's like you're trying to make me wet!"

"Trust me, I'm not."

"That's good, because I'll have you know I've already hit that point! The cross outfit is the only reason I'm not dripping down right now!" Still, she might want to try something other than doing nothing, if only to prevent non-sexy trappings once it was dead. Anathema proceeded to start struggling a bit against the tentacle vines, trying to ignore the part where this was super hot for her. If they weren't super strong, she might be able to get herself free with some effort.

Even in his confused state, Jazz still managed to raise defences on targets that weren't the giant mushroom, at the very least. His aimless hopping and skipping drew the attention of the small mushroom that still lingered at the edge of the battle field and it attempted to blow a spore cloud in his direction, but in his march-hare state, Jazz was far too quick for the attack to catch him.

The larger mushroom, still writhing and trembling at the edges of its functional ability, gripped Anathema tighter while its bark-like casing refreshed itself, and tried to reach out for Jazz with more of its loose tendrils, but to no avail; the bunny boy would not be caught. The vines encircling anathema herself continued to slide and coil, making a thorough examination as they restrained her, with several of them achieving potentially interesting positions around her chest and hind quarters, amongst other areas. Worry about being restrained when it went down, however, had become enough of a concern that anathema still tried to break free, while her operator supplied the chips that would hopefully finish off the fight.

She was still struggling to escape the holding tendrils when the Megalian head smashed into the midsection of the mushroom, just above the screen. Its eyes bulged comically large for a moment, before a crack of sparks and static burst out from somewhere, and the whole creature tensed up momentarily – Anthema felt all of her various restrained sections squeezed quite firmly for a sudden second or two. As swiftly as the tension came, it fled again, the whole body of the creature collapsing in a limp sigh of mushroom juice and escaping spore gas. It slumped down and though the most firmly anchored tendrils remained clinging to Anathema, she was able to wriggle free and unravel herself from them after another moment or so.

She got loose just in time to see Jazz's weight come careening towards the mushroom's broken down form, and her by proximity, though in the last moment Jazz himself felt his senses clearing up, and was able to make it veer away from his companion. Across the clearing the small mushroom squeaked in fear, then shuddered and hopped up in the air, vanishing from sight as it fled the scene. this left the two navis free to inspect the hulk at the centre of the clearing for any valuable prizes, though aside from some bits and pieces that would convert into zenny, mostly they just found more mushroom-related data.

Jazz let out a groan as he rubbed his head, the status finally subsiding from his systems as he shook off the grogginess. "Ooooogh...what happened? My head." He groaned again. "Confusion went through your protection, those spores are nothing if not persistent against defenses. Good to know for later. Maybe program an auto-status cure into you later on down the road." Stephine spoke afterwards, Jazz automatically hoovering up the rewards and Stephine getting her chip out of the deal. Would be good to have later down the road probably.

Jazz would turn to Anathema with a smile, letting out a sigh as he let his prose cross deactivate entirely. "Whew. Good thing we're like swiss army knives. That coulda gotten ugly if I didn't have you around." He commented frankly.
Aside from a fleeting moment of it gripping her hard, Anathema would have to go longer before truly experiencing the joys of tentacles, as she delivered the final blow to the giant mushroom. She managed to break free, though it probably would've been tougher to escape if she hadn't already started. "Well, that was kinda disappoi-oh craaaaaaaap!" She looked up just in time to see a Heavy virus swinging straight for her...though it swerved at the last moment to prevent her from being witchy paste. "And that was extremely terrifying!"

"At least it's all done with. Speaking of which, I'm pretty much done here, too."

"You are? There's nowhere else you can go?"

"Okuden's huge, but it's more that I already have about all I can carry. Let's face it, I missed out on the day they handed out physical strength."

"Yeah..." Almost as if echoing the wearer's disappointment, the witch Navi's fur outfit shone brightly, only to turn dark, and reform into her normal attire. She decided to cheer herself up by accessing some of the sweet, sweet loot left behind by the tease of a fungus she'd just headbutted into submission. "Let's see, there's some cash, a whole bunch of data about mushrooms, I'll copy that and send it over since that could be useful for you...BadSpice? What a weird name for a chip."

"I knew there was a Spice, but BadSpice? I...don't know if I want to know, but send it over." And so it was. "...Huh, this actually works totally differently. Instead of creating spores over grass, you basically create a toxic gas cloud around yourself, using the power of your buster."

"That actually sounds pretty nice! Might be worth giving my buster program an extra boost or two." Anathema had already noticed Jazz had returned from his head trip, but now he was done talking to his operator for a moment. "A...what knife? Never heard of it." Gotten ugly? Well..."Depends on whether you like person-like rabbits getting grabbed and felt up, or maybe more, by tentacles. I, for one, wouldn't have minded seeing that. Then again, I'm keener on that sort of thing than most."

"Isn't that the truth..."

"Besides, if you hadn't been there, I might've gotten torn apart before I even reached here! We're a pretty decent team, you know?"

"I hate to say it, but could you wrap this up? The sun's kinda bearing down right now, and I forgot to bring extra sunscreen."

"Ugh, fine...looks like this is where our little adventure ends, Jazz. I don't really WANT it to end, but Alda burns easily, so I really should..." Still, she wasn't going to abandon him just yet, so he'd have time to say goodbye and everything.
Jazz sighed as he looked at the data he had obtained. Spice huh...he could certainly make good use of that, right? He lays down grass like it's going out of style anyways. I focus on defenses, you focus on offense. There's a thing to be said about balance, and we do kinda have it all things considered. Jazz spoke frankly, letting out a groan, popping his neck. Granted. I'm getting tired myself, so it's not a bad idea to quit for today. He commented as he would bring the glass bottle into his hand. Oh...I...almost forgot this. he murmured, pushing his free hand out to Anathema, a piece of paper and a key popping up in his hand. Here. If you wanna get in contact with me or my op. Our email and a pass key to her homepage's security cube. It's a bit barren there, but if you're around the ElecTown area, consider it a breather if you need it. Jazz offered with a sincere smile on his furry cheeks.

We fallin for the lewd mage girl, Jazzy? I always knew you had a type. Stephine commented in his ear. Let me have this Stephine... He commented in text on her PET, the magi letting out a quiet giggle at her netnavi

Offer: MagiPass (Jazz/Stephine homepage access) and email to Anathema (clearheadedmagi@acdc.net)
"Pretty much!" Well, at least Jazz knew what she was getting at a second ago. "Really? You're tired already? Sounds like someone could use some more stamina!" Anathema reached out and accepted the rabbit's offering, sending them to her PET with a poof. "Thanks! I'll try and drop by if I can! I'd give you my password, but...I don't have to, because our homepage is open to the public! If you wanna go over there, you-" She went on to give instructions on how to reach the potion shop, both in the cyberworld and real world. "You two should stop by sometime!"

Alda's face popped up on a screen next to her Navi. "You should. We're always looking for new clients. And rest assured, despite some of the...simplistic look and ingredients, all of our products are rooted in hard science."

"It's true, we have tons of satisfied customers! And a few unsatisfied ones, but they're mostly people who really wanted Alda to 'cure what ailed them'."

"That's one way to put it..."

"And what ailed them was blue balls."

"Yes, I think they got the picture."

"So yeah, drop in at our place! ...Now I feel like I forgot something...ah, right!" The witch Navi formed a small purple crystal and placed it directly in Jazz's hand. "That data's a link to our e-mail, if you need to reach me."

"Just do me a favor. No dick pics. The last thing I need is someone to encourage Anathema like that."

"What's that, Alda? You're breaking up!"

"...No I'm not."

"Es oo are! Transm...is bad!"

"Just wrap this up already...I think I'm starting to feel a little burned."

"Okay, okay...I won't keep any of us any longer. See you around, Jazz!" Anathema waved with a big smile, as a purple beam of light escorted her out of the Net.

(JACKING OUT)

Jazz would chuckle at their antics, before waving goodbye to his new friend. He would sit there for a few moments, rubbing his head, a sudden throbbing coming over it. Nnnnn...gonna want to take a nap after this... he commented to himself, suddenly collapsing and spreading across the Mycelium he had been standing on, world spinning around and round. I think I'm more susceptible to getting spored on than I thought. He commented to no one again. Closing his eyes he'd soon enough jack out of the network before any more viruses could find him. He'd be coming back one of these days.
